JAMES FThis location was excellent. Customer service was top notch. I tried booking this equipment online however and your online portal leaves much to be desired. I ended up giving up on the online portal and going into the location in person which worked much better.

MARK RThe woman I dealt with is friendly and fine. She asked me for an emergency contact number at about 7:15 a.m.. She called my girlfriend at 7:15 a.m. and woke her up and she was pissed. Why the hell do you have to call an emergency contact number. So then I called my mother and said this woman is going to be calling you. So she picked up an accepted. Policy of calling an emergency contact number and contacting them is bullshit. If the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. You ruined my day. You're going to give me some kind of discount or credit or never going to rent from you again
NEIL FIf you change locations for pick up consider taking equipment needed to original place of pickup which is normally within the town they live instead of 40 miles (one way) additional miles! Make sure trailer lights are hooked up, and why is the customer paying to have assistance securing wheels on car carrier. Lose the attitude that U-haul employees have when bilking more money out of customer and blaming corporate! You know they love adding more to the bill and padding it. Last but not least, have you heard of Senior Discount??

The final deciding factor was the notification of the pending rate increase. U-Haul was already the most expensive facility in the area per square foot (and with the lack of available units in the area and their top notch, clean, accessible and climate control facilities it could be justified).

Christopher D1st vehicle shook really bad at 40mph. Returned it. The 2nd shook bad when brakes were applied. The gas tank was not full even though uhaul charges a fee to fill it up. This company is the biggest rip off. Will never return. Also ordered a transporter and gave me a tow dolly on the order. Please call me at 413-441-7023 with further issues

JOHN CThe location in Pittsfield scammed and played games with me. Tried to add on extra charges, the manager called me and was beyond nasty without me right after I had mentioned being jewish; furthermore she had the nerve to tell me what the protocol for Covid is and twisted my words. She called me and didn't tell me I was being recorded or get my consent in the beginning which is a Federal law and you can sue and take other legal acrion on that alone. She told it to me at the end of the conversation as a means to theeaten me, even though if i were to a lawyer pull that conversation it wouldnt look good and I will use my connection to the News channel to put it public as well and that is legal . The employees who booked the Uhaul knew we were using the Uhaul to get to the airport and we had gone over with them how many miles on Google maps it was to get to to Bradley Airport where we can drop off the vehicle. Prior to us coming in there at almost 8pm, we had went to rent from Hertz because after getting our alternativer replaced, Mavis put a faulty one in and on the way to the airport the car just shut down in a busy public street at a red light. We had a double family emergency in GA and needed to get there ASAP. Hertz, is on my shit list too because in the ime it took my fiancee to step outside and wave me down since I am unfamiliar with the area bc I'm from NY and they needed my ID. Despite the reservation and everything else ready to go, in that 2 min he waived me down and had his back turned the place locked the doors, was pitch black and the guy snuck out the back having my debit card, credit card, Kyle's ID and credit card. Atleast Hertz is taking responsibility for their mistakes at corporate but now you guys took over a week and half to get me to a corporate manager, I had to call customer support multiple times who doesn't listen and calls the manager at the location I'm putting the complaint in about and then in another calla transfers me to claims mid conversation. Now, Justine the manager over at Piitsfeild Hertz should have spoke to her employees or maybe she didd, but we showed up there with our suitcases and luggage and two cats in cat carrier to board a plane and the employees told us all these different things about avoiding extra charges if we need the Uhaul for another day or two by paying this extra money at the time and then said we go to the Uhaul website but my reservation iust magically disappeared about talking to Justine. I never went over the miles either, and she said we had till the end of the day to bring the car back and she came for the CAR THAT NEVER LEFT TOWN BC I HAD COVID and already buried 2 people in my family bc of that and she came with her hood up and sun glasses on and her black teeth showing abd she's laughing at the deaths in the family and all the anti Semitic treatment that just erupts and these are two issues that are very far from funny; my family is still broken from Jodis death and my grandma was in a concentration camp and I had family members who were in safe shelters in Isreal and at this moment 2 people have lost all contact and of the other 4 people they were with terrorists have called their families to tell them they are being held ransom and this is the same day I was supposed to get on the plane via your Uhual but couldn't bc I came up positive for covid. So I'm glad this is funny to your company and that as I'm disputing these extra charges and not getting my despoisit back I got an text saying you tried to use my card to pay the balance I now owe you? And yesturday I see an email about your collections department messaging me about the extra fees you added on and the refusal to give me my deposit. I was traveling on a plane Monday and had to extend the layover till today. So I just saw all this. You are awful heartless people with sick racist evil people managing your pittsfield office. I will make sure my whole family never uses you abd has nobody from work, the community, any friends ever use you and have the word of how you treated us go far and wide.

BERNARD MWe were charged double at the end of our experience I had to call customer service also we were told we driven 300 miles which was not true at the most we did 125 MI The staff member to close us out I believe made a few mistakes causing us to be charged double and 300 miles instead of 150 or less
WALTER BEverything about checking out vehicle and returning it took forever because Everything on the computer was wrong both times! Staff were helpful and pleasant but I wasted so much time having to prove that miles and fuel records were totally wrong. Only my photos saved me from vastly over payment Staff at location great Process ridiculous I feel ripped off in terms of my productivity I have no.reason to think this is local problem. Thanks

DENISE EKatie on the 800 # scheduling was very helpful. Amber upon return of the vehicle at the location was also helpful, efficient and friendly. For the pick up, Justine was argumentative and not very helpful or willing to answer questions. Seemed in a rush to get rid of me and no one else was there.

RICHARD DThe self service app is very poor. I have never been able to complete a rental using it. This time even though all the pictures were uploaded it kept telling me I needed pictures. And the staff at the facility tried and it did the same thing. You have to fix the app so it works.

The only complaint I have is that the exit doesn’t open for just a human. One time I was being picked up by the exit but it wouldn’t open and my ride didn’t have a phone so I had to go all the way around it was brutal. Also I’d definitely pay extra for a covered spot! We moved from Florida, so I had reserved a unit online to transfer our belongings to from the trailer while we were looking for a place to live. When we arrived, I realized that I had grossly underestimated the size of the unit we needed. The team there was able to quickly pull out a UBox for me so I could finish emptying the trailer and get my family to our next destination. Awesome team of people and highly recommend this location for any storage and moving needs.

Until, I went into my indoor climate controlled unit to find a large rodent trap and mouse droppings everywhere. I was not expecting that. But that’s not what upset me the most. What really upset me was when I cleaned out the unit and went over the month by 2 days and was charged $224 for the month. I politely asked the manager if there was anything she could do and was told once charged they can’t refund anything or prorate the days. I realize it was my error but still feel taken advantage of. Not very customer service oriented in my opinion. Absolutely , no flexibility or consideration for me as a customer. I would not recommend uhaul.

We told the manager and several staff members several times about the issue and nothing was done. We paid $100 a month to have items ruined and have to be thrown out because of this rusty water that leaked on everything. We expected to have our unit moved or at the very least looked into why there was this leak but no one ever contacted us. We were never compensated for a unit that ruined our items. Slow to fix any issues (in our case not at all) but quick to call you when you’re a day late on your payment. All in all, an awful experience and if we didn’t move so far away I would’ve cleaned my unit out much sooner.

Edward R | Overall ExperienceI was a customer since this location opened. I stored my snowmobile trailer year round. Every time I removed my trailer they rented my spot to someone. I was.on auto pay monthly so they were double charging. Illegal. The spot locations were never painted numerically so it was always confusion. Now the small rv spots are being replaced with enclosed containers. I was never notified! They moved my trailer without consent. I learned all this through my bank records. I had been refunded. When I visited the site the manager called me a lier. Refused to service me and pushed me out. I was offered an 11x45 space at more than twice the cost. It's evicted with no notice. I will never recommend nor do business again. Greed has taken over and this manager has no care, unprofessionaland basically told me to leave. Very disappointing. And yes I tried to discuss without being upset but was pushed by insults and lies to just leave my trailer was no longer welcome after 10 years

And when I closed my storage, they were not able to give me the refund in person at the office (I paid cash), they told me they didn't have the small amount, but they would put it back on my card. I told them I didnt have a card on file, that I paid with cash.. And at first, tried to tell me they didn't even see my credit. So, I was referred to call the 800 number. They told me they were supposed to give me the refund on premise. The guy didn't really seem to know what he was doing, and was very disorganized. I spend 30 minutes on the phone with him, and he said he issued the refund somehow on my card that I gave him. But I still have yet to see it.

WENDYANN S | Overall ExperienceI paid for my storage unit online, and I got the email and text with the check-in code and the map of the facility, but I was unsure about where to enter the facility, which key pad to use, etc. We had to ask a custodial worker there for help. There was no one behind the counter in the office. It took us several tries to get into our locker and figure out how to use the garage. Our locker was clean and ready to use. Finding the locker and getting in and out of the building was harder than I expected.

But there were no ground floor units available, and the upstairs storage units lacks any elevator service, making the move of stuff in and out an ordeal. You very, very much need to install elevators. I was in a hurry so I moved in, but the next time I need storage I am going to look elsewhere, despite the pluses I mentioned above. No elevator or available ground floor units is a complete deal-breaker for me.

What didn't work: - NO lighting in largest unit(1025). This is a BIG issue 24-7. Lights could be made available with MOTION sensors. - Local staff is 95% unreachable. After hours being on hold, and transferred to multiple people, UHaul basically told me they could not support me with this issue (i.e. it was my problem that my information was compromised and UHaul was not going to provide any support in protecting my information - specifically i asked for the same protections as the other clients who were part of the larger UHaul security breach a few months ago).

The reason I’m giving a poor rating is the person I spoke to on the phone prior to going to the facility was nice, but gave me a huge amount of in accurate and incomplete information. She told me that my vehicle storage was inside, and it wasn’t. She did not mention that I needed proof of insurance, which caused me to make another trip to the facility. I would not have utilized U-Haul if I had known that they did not have inside storage available, but I had to move, so I had no choice. You need to do a much better job of training your telephone customer service people so that they do not give an accurate information. A transaction should have taken 15 minutes, ended up taking an entire day for me because of having to make multiple trips, arranging transportation , getting insurance and registration information, etc. again, the local staff at the facility was great, but my total experience was absolutely not.

My son was spoken to inappropriately and unprofessionally on several occasions and was harassed by her and another associate when he went to his storage unit. Scheduling of rentals is definitely sub standard and needs immediate attention. REMEMBER THE CUSTOMER ALWAYS COMES FIRST !! This is something they do not practice.
Denise B | Overall ExperienceThe property is extremely clean and well maintained. The staff for the most part are extremely friendly and helpful. The only 2 not so great things are firstly the price. I have two other storage units at different facilities one of which is twice the size of the one I had at uhaul but is a self contained unit and the other is slightly smaller but is indoors in a climate controlled facility and both are less expensive. While the hours for the facility do make up for price slightly the location kind of nullifies the added hours of convenience. The second issue I had was that I had to purchase a lock from uhaul to secure the unit prior to putting anything in it. After reserving and then paying for the unit I was told if I didn’t immediately put a lock on the unit that it wasn’t actually mine and could be rented to someone else while I left to run home and get my lock. Obviously I didn’t want to lose the money I had just spent on that unit so I had to make a second transaction for a lock which really irritated me. Those two small things were my only issues. As I stated the person who assisted me when I initially rented the unit and the person who closed my unit out were phenomenal. On a previous visit to the uhaul location I was able to work with the owner and she was phenomenal! She was super helpful with my moving process and even sold me on the idea of getting a storage unit at this location. Unfortunately due to a car accident I was never able to fill my unit. I also ended up having to pay an additional month for the empty unit as I was unable to get out to the location and complete the necessary paperwork to close the unit. Overall if this is the only location available for storage units or if you are going to need to make regular trips to this location for truck rentals or moving supplies this option is great!

The first time we went was during business hours and we put in our code at the keypad, it welcomed us, when we got to the unit the alarm still went off when we opened it. Then we came after hours (around 730pm) and used our code on the keypad only to see that the code didn’t work to open the door. Another person there said we needed a card? We never got a card and this defeats the purpose of the online move in. We put our code into 3 different keypads that night and they all welcomed us and told us we were checked in but wouldn’t open the door. We piggybacked with another group and the alarm went off the entire time we were in our unit. I am not sure why it’s billed as online check in and online move in when you cannot access the building with the code provided. Fantastic experience other than.

They have dollys you can use which were VERY helpful. Loading docks which were great for the day it was pouring and I decided to move more things. And the staff were always friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone. It is a little pricey but it was one of the least expensive units I found and I had a great experience here so it was well worth the money for peace of mind.
