Bryan DI had to let my storage go last 10/24 and was told that an auction would be done within 3 months. I had not received another bill since October 24. I got a letter last week stating that I owed 1811.25 after the auction. I am extremely upset that they would rack up a monthly bill for over a year. Otherwise, the staff was great. When I moved from storage unit J719 to J732 (723?) there was a roach infestation after the move. I found this out when I was trying to get rid of items so that I could rent a smaller unit.
Lisa S | Overall ExperienceThe App is a malfunctioning nightmare!! Add to that the fact that they rarely answer the phone and that makes their customer service nonexistent. The unit we were given also had a door that did not stay down on the ground, so when it rained the water splashed into the dirt in front the of unit spraying through the 2 inch crack at the bottom of the door and all our stuff got sprayed with mud and leaves. I would never rent from this facility again.

Anika E | Overall ExperienceThe moving van had a flat tire. It was assessed as a slow leak, so it had most likely been there 1-2 weeks, as the tire was only at 36psi. Everyone on the phone and at the location was helpful, but it did set us back over two hours and we had movers waiting. It was easy to miss at pickup, as it’s hard to see the tires well when the trucks are parked closely together, but should’ve been inspected closer and shouldn’t have taken 1-2 weeks to be noticed.
Emma HI Got Locked out of my Unit on the Day it was Due !!! This has Happened to me Twice !!! One Time they Locked out the Wrong Person and the Second time there was No Excuse !!! I get a 3 Day Grace Period but to Lock me out on the Day it was Due was Ludicrous Especially on Christmas Eve !!! Also $170 Dollars a Month is Outrageous for that Small Unit !!! I Rent 3 Units a Block away that are $160.00 a Month that are 3 Times Bigger !!! I’ve Been there for over 10 Years and I have had enough I’m Glad that I finally moved out of there !!!! But to Lock me out on the Day it was Due and on Christmas Eve that was the Last Straw that Broke the Camels Back

I had a 20' truck and had to back up and pull up multiple times to get it into the parking lot. The worst part was the back end of the truck was hanging out in the street blocking traffic while I was trying to maneuver the truck into a spot. The staff was great though and acknowledged that they don't like it either.

Savannah TThe light in the hallway of the storage unit was on a movement sensor at the far end of the hall from my unit so it would always go off and I could not see. The price for the unit kept rising- one year it rose twice within one year. I would not recommend this facility to anyone because costs keep rising. Glad I moved out before the rise in cost this fall.

Mark AMost of the process was straightforward. However, the U-Haul app was difficult to use during the return process. I took several pictures of every angle requested and it kept getting stuck in the camera app. This could be only an Android app problem, and I'll report it on the app store too.

The lady working didn’t know what she was doing and asked my fiancé and his friends to do it. It took 4 hours and we finally got it off. She was very rude when we asked if she would try to contact someone who knew what they were doing then disappeared. I feel very disrespected and disappointed in the way this uhaul is.

Jon RI dropped off the truck after hours, so no one was there. I tried to use the incredibly poor app. The app is kind of like renting a U-Haul to travel across the country only to find that you can't get out of second gear and the nearest U-Haul dealer doesn't have replacement stock and you'll have to do an online chat and three phone calls before someone can help you. Driving the vehicle was pleasant in comparison with contact with U-Haul, the initial rental, the drop off and the interesting employees encountered during the time setting up and using the rental. Thank you for the help, but for my experience, most of U-Haul really missed making this a good experience.
Warren KI tried to contact someone about a mistaken truck rental click thinking I could rent in the future, instead it charged me for a rental that was for the present time. I called and sent a message I no one got back to me and I was still charged for the rental even though it was never touched.

natalie sFirst, I want to tell you how terrible my experience with the app and the Cougar Blvd location was. I was using the app pickup option, but it would crash on every DL scan. So frustrating! Then the Cougar Blvd location was SO slow. It took me a half hour of waiting in line to finally get someone to help me. (I don’t know the clerk’s name, but he was in a wheelchair, and I hope he finally got the recipes exchanged with the people he was helping - dude, speed it up!) After waiting all the time, they didn’t have the equipment I reserved and sent me to the other location. If they had just let me know, I could have done that much sooner! I tried using the app pickup option and using chat on the app - what a joke. They offloaded me twice and I had to start all over again. They bumped me to another department and then closed the chat again. It was horrible! An hour later, I’m at the State St location, and Sydney was fantastic! She had the hussle and, even though she was by herself (on a Sat morning? C’mon!) she found the correct equipment and got me headed out in minutes. She was fantastic, you need to give her a raise to keep her because she was the only good part of this whole terrible experience.

This was very frustrating as there was still time before the facility closed. After multiple attempts to swipe card I called the phone number and had to deal with an automated system. In the process of calling the gate the gate ended up opening somehow.

When I had arrived I was informed that this place had allowed someone else to move into my reservation and they would not move them out. We were then only offered a very small storage unit (which wouldn’t have fit even half of my things) or one that would be difficult to move out due to family health conditions. This was an extremely frustrating experience, as the unit we had chosen was very specific and with an intended purpose. We had this reservation for quite some time with the intent that we would not run into issues in regard to not having a unit, just to arrive and someone else to have taken the reservation. It was also frustrating as whenever they were looking at another unit to give us, they kept running into issues with people already having reservations. It made it seem as though they could keep track of everyone else’s reservations other than the one we had made 4 months ago. Overall this was a very poor experience.

Karlo O | Overall ExperienceFor seven years, I complained that our storage garage door was broken. The door wouldn’t close all the way. The open 2 or 3 inches at the bottom let in all kinds of dust dirt water, and debris. Employees kept promising me that they would get it fixed. But it literally took seven years for them to finally fix it. By that time I was moving out to a higher quality storage garage at half the price. That is the main reason that I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone else. Non-responsive service, and too high-priced. Also, no one ever answers the phone at the local office. Literally never. It always rolls over to some kind of a national customer service center but they never have the answers that I need from the local location.
brad t | Overall ExperienceI would give a higher rating except my move in experience was frustrating. I was able to change my move in date however I was not able to access the unit. I ended up needing it two days earlier on a Sunday. The office was closed when I got there. I arrived at 6pm they close at 5pm. Not a problem accept that I had no access to the unit. No access code to get in, nothing. A 24 hour access facility should be that, accessible for 24 hrs. After driving all day from Nevada to Utah, hauling not just a loaded 20’ van but towing a trailer as well, I was extremely disappointed and definitely not happy. I would suggest a system of sending the new tenant access codes and unit assignments via email or text. Weekends are when people typically move. When I came back the next day , the staff was very friendly and helpful.

I had to go out of my way to come back just to move my vehicle to a new location and they wouldn’t refund the extra time remaining on my lease for the month (for which I had another 15 days remaining).

The facility went drastically down hill with theft, vandalism, trash and garbage left in our vehicles. Having to vacate the facility for some made up reason that was not enforced across the board is infuriating. If everything in outside storage had to be out by the end of the month why was over 70% outside storage still there after the 30th? Seems selective and targeted. I will not be recommending renting anything from uhaul. It was a great clean and secure facility until uhaul bought it.

When the hallway lighting was changed to a sensor and new fixtures installed, the inside light no longer functioned. I have called several times about the issue--left 2 messages through Customer Service for the location manager. Never called back! When I have had to switch the credit card on file and have overlooked updating my information, notification is sent out ti the emergency contact first rather that contacting the unit owner first. By the time the notification is sent to the owner, it arrives after the due date. Owner then has to pay late fees. Even after paying the late fees and visiting a week later, I still found the facility lock on the unit with a late fee notification. I definitely won't recommend this location--too many issues that don't get resolved until you are able to find a live person!

Manuel G | First ImpressionsTwice, U-Haul called us to confirm our reservation and chose a city in Idaho instead of Utah, even though I had never requested a city in Idaho. Each time, I confirmed a dolley was part of the reservation and then when we opened the truck at our storage facility, there wasn't a dolley. When we finally went back and talked to the worker about it at the front desk, he said he never saw a dolley on our registry although the guy at our U-haul storage said he saw it and saw that we had been charged. Additionally, the U-Haul wasn't completely full of gas so when we had to fill it up to return it, we had to fill it all the way and when we told the guy at the front desk, he didn't offer a refund or anything. I was disappointed by how unorganized this experience was. I also wish we would've had the option to drop the truck off outside of store hours like we've been allowed to do before. It was just super inconvenient

Tanya I | First ImpressionsI fell into hard times and was going through a divorce and I got way behind on the payment and didn't want to lose my belongings so I spoke with the manager and I was offered a deal to make a payment and then have my belongings out of the locker in 24 hours. Because of transportation problems I wasn't gonna be able to get there until the next morning and the manager said that was unacceptable, She also denied my offer to make the payment over the phone that very afternoon and then remove my belongings the next day. I realize that I was behind with the monthly payments but I believe that what I offered to resolve the situation was absolutely reasonable but U-Haul and the staff was bound and determined to confiscate my property and that's what they did and now I've lost everything which includes sacred belongings that was my late mother and father's that was gonna be handed down to my children to keep my parents spirit alive. That was very low and dirty to do to someone especially when I was prepared to comply with the offer made by U-Haul management and I told them I can comply but like I said, they had they're minds made up to keep my things.

I had walked all the way back to the office and the employee had no idea how that had happened but proceeded to help me reserve another unit. The only unit available was a bigger one (10x10) and i had to pay more to get that unit. I believe that was very unfair how i had to pay more for something that wasn’t my fault & how i had previously reserved that unit and it wasn’t an obligation to make sure their system was up to date with who is using what units. It makes me feel very worried about my items safety.

They offered us two smaller units (combined size still smaller than what we needed) but wouldn’t charge us the price of the one we had originally reserved but instead charged us the higher price of the two combined. First off though the door on the units were so small that we couldn’t even fit a couch through it, and then when we looked in the first unit, there was still stuff in there. Very unprofessional. We should have been contacted prior to our move in date to be made aware that the storage unit we reserved wasn’t actually available. It was all very unprofessional and we ended having to take our business elsewhere

When they got there they were told all that was available was a 10x15. Makes so sense since we confirmed a reservation for a 10x20. No one at any point told us “you have a reservation, but not an actual reservation” we asked for another smaller unit to compensate but there was nothing else available. You’re “reservation” system is a joke, we felt completely screwed over. We had to scramble and find other locations to store things. We also had to spend about 45 more minutes unloading to fit as much as we could. A mess.

When I checked in at the office the person said that he couldn’t see that discount and that I needed to pay for the first month. You credited a month of payment (thank you), but it didn't fully compensate for the damage. This unit (L781) has a big problem with roll-up door. You have to try and push it up to just the right height to make it stay open. Staff has always been very professional, very helpful and courteous.

That said, I want to point out the manager for the last several years (Maggie) has been a standout in all of my associations with Uhaul in all of my travels. She somehow always has a cheerful disposition even under the stressful operations. As I recall she had little to no experience when she started but quickly picked up all the necessary skills in management and leadership and I think has has a loyal following their but at least from my perspective.
