We were supposed to be provided a lock when we rented our unit and were not, which was fine we used our own for 6 months until somebody came and put a new lock on our unit with no notice. We were not informed, a note was not left, an email was not sent, a phone call was not made. Almost every time we dealt with office personnel they were rude or I'll informed about the situation. Every time we called the customer service line they left messages for the local store to give us a call and they never did. The last couple months we had the unit were extremely frustrating, we were charged and recharged for a month of rent we were supposed to get for free, communication was abysmal, and we couldn't get straight answers from anybody. This was made worse because it all could have been avoided with a note or email or message on the U-haul app that a lock was placed on our unit and why.

I could never get in touch with anyone at the office - at least a dozen times I tried to contact - even through the 1-800 Uhaul could not get through several times. This storage unit is only good to hold trash. Never again will I use a Uhaul storage unit. Checked out via the app and the manager never checked me out until I called after receiving a late bill. Good thing that I took my credit card off or I would have kept paying for this piece of crap.

David S | Overall ExperienceThe Whitehouse location needs some work. It was okay. The facility office hours while convenient enough, are located on the other side of town. My biggest complaint is in cancelling the storage. I called about cancelling the storage unit but was told I needed to come in to do so. I went in two weeks ago and was told by an employee named Jason that no, I could call and cancel it, but because we hadn't completed the move out yet, we had to wait until it was empty to cancel it even though I was going to give a specific date. No problem since now I could call and cancel. So on Monday, I did just that, called, but was told again I had to come in to do it. They acted like they never heard of Jason, and he didn't work there any longer. So I drove from Hawkins to the office. The cancellation of the unit could easily have been handled over the phone. They didn't ask for ID. At first, I was asked for my phone # then my name. I had to inform them the unit was at Whitehouse. I was asked if the unit was empty and the lock removed. That was it, and I was given a receipt. I was there less than 5 minutes! Now why in the world did I have to drive in, waste my gas and time, when this could have clearly been done over the phone and the receipt emailed to me since that is on file? Totally ridiculous and clearly needs to be changed.

We were told it could not be repaired because where it needed repair was on the neighbors property and they wouldn’t give consent. So we continued to be patient while they got it sorted out. The alarm never worked again yet we continued to pay for 2 units that were supposed to be secured by an alarm.
