Daniel PI rented a car twice in January of this year, 2026. The first time, the manager assisted me, and I received excellent service. The price I paid was the same as the one I booked online. The second time, I went back and was assisted by a rather young man with a Latino appearance who said he didn't speak Spanish. I told him I had a reservation, but he didn't seem to care. He told me I had to check in online myself. The place was empty, but this man's service was terrible. Then he told me the price was about $40 more for the same trip, time, and mileage. I asked him why, and he had added extra items that I didn't request. In the end, I had him remove the extra items, but when the bill arrived, it was for even more money. This man didn't even want to move; it was terrible. This was at the Columbia Pike location.
Maria MEveryone and everything is good, only that when I pulled up to the location I thought I was gonna get robbed because a bunch of bystanders approached my vehicle asking if I needed help and I truly feared for my life that I left and came back with my partner. Other than that the staff was very friendly and helpful!

SHELIA AYour vehicles are not well maintained and need to be serviced immediately after each use. The rental truck that I got did not start and had a key ignition problem. The tire pressure monitoring light was on and both front tires were not inflated properly. The gas was not at quarter of a tank but slightly below and the headlight switch was pushed in the dashboard and could not be controlled to turn on or off the lights

CHRISTINA MThe staff do a great job with the resources they have. I think U-Haul could do a better job of explaining the steps to guests so while we wait in line, we finish the process on our phones! A sign or more detailed emails. I did the check in ahead of time and had to repeat many of the prompts/questions at the U-Haul location. If there was a sign, I could have done this faster.

Daniel BRonnie provided excellent customer service. He had the office phone forwarded to his personal phone to provide after hours assistance. This is almost unheard of with employees today. He was extremely helpful to me in resolving my rental issue. It is evident that Ronnie genuinely cares about his job at U-Haul. He needs to be recognized by the company. Also AJ was very helpful during my trailer turn-in. She was also very courteous and professional and was hard at work during the time I was there. Another great representative of the company
REGINALD NPlease please please eliminate the pick up process where someone is contacted prior to approval for an online check-in/pick up. This process is obsolete and is a waste of time. You ask for a persons name to be contacted and 9/10 a person will not answer these calls if its not a recognized number, therefore delaying the pick up process. I dont understand the need for this step if I have already provided my license details and credit card details for pick up. If done at the counter, this step is not needed so why have this step when checking-in/pick up online?
BOBBY B4 hours late and broke all the sensors on the car. And then told us there was nothing they could do. And charged us $450 for it.

YERGAW GCustomer service was terrible. The truck needs brakes and they forgot the Dollie’s. Now I’m waiting on credits and the correct amount to be charged. I will not use U-Haul again.
JARON JThis location is an absolute train wreck. Pair that with the disastrous uhaul software and you get an experience that makes it not even worth renting. Every step of the process is painful with the uhaul app, which they force you to use, and then the van smells like cigarettes and has burns in the seat. Then they dont even have the equipment I reserved days ago. What's the point of renting the van when you dont have the equipment in stock to do my move. And theres a line of 20 other people going through the same anguish, pissed off cuase there's really nothing anyone can do. The store sucks, the uhaul software sucks. I guess you can suck and provide a bad experience when your the only game it town. Can't even be mad at the folks working there since they are just trying to survive the day.
RICHARD GJacob was incredibly helpful. He helped me with the lock box and got in touch with me when I dropped my license. It was such a stressful day and his kindness went a long way. Thank you!

Mike FWe needed help and none of the support staff were very helpful. One guy was helping one customer and then we had to go into the office where other staff were just sitting and chatting to get the help we needed. The website/app weren't very helpful or intuitive. Overall this is the usuall poor experience from U-Haul but they're basically a monopoly so what else can you do?
Veronica FThere were multiple times I had to go back inside to inquire about my reservation (key lock box wouldn’t open, vehicle key was too long so wouldn’t start the vehicle) but the employee working was very helpful. Allowing customers the option to check in with an employee as opposed to using the online portal would be very helpful, as there were multiple ways the online portal slowed down this process significantly.

Larry LThe location is a bit hectic with no clear indication to do the check in via the app- so a lot of people waiting around for 1 rep, but then another came and really multi tasked very well and helped everyone directing them to do the online check in and let him know when we’re ready for keys or have questions. Recommend sending an email day of an hour before pick up to tell people to start checking in &!download the app, or something outside to make it more clear. Also the key drop was a bit hard to find. Overall good experience

Theodros TThe staff was great. But they were in over their heads installing a hitch on my car. I was told the car was done at 2pm. Showed up and waited another 5 hours for them to finish. That was crazy. They gave me a small discount, but I also felt sorry for them as they were not equipped to do this install. I have been a loyal client with uhaul and this was the worst part.

STANLEY TWould recommend not parking your trucks so close together. It was extremely difficult to squeeze in between them and open the door to get in.
RICHARD MWhy give a 3-letter code for a 4-letter lock? How could I possibly know that there is a blank space on the letter spinner? You are just creating more work for people when you do that, because I have to ask someone how it works. Also, you need to use some WD-40 on the locks because they work hard. Finally, every time I rent from this location, the pads and/or dolly are not in the truck. I have to go get them myself even though the contract asks me to check that they are in the back of the truck.

LUIS MI really didn't want to check in/out with just my phone. I wanted to deal with an actual person. Returning the truck took a lot longer than it should have because the app wasn't working right, and there weren't enough people staffing the place. The guys did the best they can - they were great. It's the policy that was the problem. Also, the lock that was provided with the truck was horrible. I almost broke the key trying to just get it in. I ended up using a bike lock instead of risking it. But again, the guys themselves were great, and the truck was fine. I just don't like the interface.

Abrham TWe had reservation for 7 am but the staff did not arrive until 7:30. Van was blocked in so they had to reassign us to another van. Taking photos of van outside and inside almost impossible because of how tight the parking was between vehicles. Return check-out was efficient.

Jason lThe truck that I received was in very bad shape for a one way rental. The company seemed to be okay with me using it, but I recommend taking that specific truck off of the lot and making repairs to it before letting someone else take it on a long trip.
