WOINSHATE MLocation was fine. Staff seemed friendly. Poor rating is because of the app. Being forced to use an app to do everything while employees physically present exist just to tell me to "Use the app" is not a good business model. To be clear the employees there were helpful, my complaint is against the business decision to make everything happen through an app.
Joseph LI reserved my UHaul online a few days before I needed it, selecting 8 hours for the length of time I needed it, and checking the box to work with a desk agent when I get there instead of self check in with the app. When I arrived there was a line of folks and the desk agent directed us to all use the app to check in. Everyone was having trouble with the app so the agent was caught trying to assist 5-6 individuals at the same time, and everyone ended up have to “re-register” their UHaul and go through the same process we already completed ahead of time. This obviously wasn’t the desk agents fault, and you could tell that they knew this was a broken system but unfortunately had no way to remedy it. In the end, I got my vehicle, but was found out after the fact that the re-registration changed my reservation from 8 hours to 6 hours. Luckily, after calling, I was given an extension for the whole day without any additional charge. I think the company needs to re-work their app and process in order to better serve customers and allow their employees to better serve customers.

Matthew WOpen at 7. Pick up was 7:30. Literally had to walk around lot looking for a guy to help us. THREE TIMES. If you are open at 7 be ready for customers at 7. Did not finish process to leave with U-Haul until 8. Drop off time remained at 11:30 despite 40 mins lost at pick up.

MARCELO EAppreciated the support from AJ! Even though she was working alone, she made sure everyone knew her priority was getting to everyone as quickly as possible. It was impressive to watch her juggle people checking-in, buying boxes, and asking questions.

Kevin SYou should question on your app instead than the location. App is poor, unfriendly, slow and require a good connection to a cellular internet. Move a litlle to RURAL america and you will see.

Pam BY’all forced me to do online check in and have literally one of the shittiest apps I’ve ever used. I wasted a huge amount of time on what probably would have taken 5 minutes for the person working there to check me in and I really didn’t have time to deal with that on that day. Probably not using UHaul again after that.

Ro-Mar FThe team at the Columbia Pike U-Haul are amazing! They’re friendly, knowledgeable and helpful particularly with questions regarding the app. Hat tip to them for providing clear directions on checking out and returning the vehicle. My only suggestion…please set aside parking spots for those arriving with a vehicle. Also please notify people that there is no parking at the adjacent building. The tenants in the adjacent building are caustic. Overall it was a great experience!

Xiaotong HThe self check in and return app is horrible. I had to “confirm” no less than 3 times in the app. Then I called to confirm, and was told that everything looked good. When I arrived nobody was at the counter. So I went searching. There was a mechanic that told me to scan a QR code to check in. Even though I was already checked within the app. The truck that was given to me was broken, So I had to wait to be issued a new one.

SEAN BPlease instruct customer service to assist people delivering their cars by speeding up the procedures and avoiding any delays. Such delays cause inconvenience to customers by wasting their time, which may discourage them from using these services again.

UDIT MThis location was chaos, but that was no fault of the hard working employees who did everything they could to manage it. You are not setting them up for success. The check in process is time consuming and makes you re-enter all of the information you already did when making a reservation. This confusion leads to multiple distressed customers overwhelming a single employee trying to manage the room (he was incredibly calm and effective as customers were out of control). Another customer threatened me as I was trying to check in because they thought they should be helped first. There are also multiple laborers that aggressively haggle you looking for work when you pull into the parking lot. Your company’s poor reservation system and lack of clear direction causes complete chaos and is unfair to your hardworking employees.

Morgan AThe truck had 1/16th of a tank of gas when I rented it. The helper suggested I add gas before driving to my destination. Also, the web app to checkout the truck is cumbersome. It is not my job to take 5 or more photos of the truck before renting it.

GARY KThe check in process, which requires me to take pictures of myself and my drivers license with my own phone, is glitchy and timed out on me once. Would be better to use your own equipment and staff than putting all this on the customer.
RACHEL EStop the guys from running up on your vehicle soon as you park. I get it they need the work but it makes you not want to get out.
