When I arrived for self pick up, the keys to the truck were missing. I called customer service and they said somebody forgot to leave the keys and I would have to come back when they opened. When I came back, they still could not locate the keys to my truck. My reservation was then sent to another u-haul where I supposed to get the same 15’ that I needed. When I arrived they did not have a truck available. I had to get 27’ truck and still pay the difference for the bigger truck even though u-haul made the mistake and wasted my time. This was the worst experience I have ever had renting a vehicle and I will never use it recommend u-haul.

To Whom It May Concern, My name is Melika, and I recently rented a truck and trailer from your Oregon location on June 30, 2025, and returned them on July 3, 2025, to your facility at 102 S. Union Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93307. Unfortunately, this experience was highly frustrating and disappointing due to multiple serious issues with both the truck and trailer. 1. Trailer Malfunction and Vehicle Damage: The trailer was not properly inspected and was not functioning correctly. The design of the trailer made it impossible to open my car door, which caused physical damage to my Mercedes. I contacted your team while on the road and was directed to another location, but they were unable to resolve the issue, causing unnecessary stress and a delay of several hours in my travel plans. 2. Truck Condition and Fuel Costs: The truck’s air conditioning was not functioning adequately, forcing us to drive with the windows down in high summer temperatures, which made the trip uncomfortable and exhausting. Additionally, the truck consumed an excessive amount of fuel—I spent over $500 on gas, which is substantially more than I have paid on previous trips using the same type of vehicle. I believe the vehicle may have had mechanical or fuel-efficiency issues. Given the inconvenience, travel delays, vehicle damage, and unexpected expenses, I respectfully request the following: Credit or partial refund for the rental, in light of the trailer’s failure and the truck’s condition Reimbursement for the excessive gas charges incurred Compensation for the damage caused to my Mercedes by the faulty trailer A formal acknowledgment of this complaint and steps being taken to prevent such experiences for other customers I hope your company will take responsibility and provide reasonable accommodation for the issues I experienced. MELIKA PThe check-in process is way too tedious taking pictures of everything is a little bit ridiculous with your phone. I think a walk around with a person like it used to be is better. Everything else was good. The truck was clean and when I brought it back, the process was easy.
Annette DYour to expensive when you charge over a dollar a mile. Truck drivers don’t even come close to that. That tells me I would probably just rent elsewhere in the future. Everything was great including customer service. I just think it’s way to expensive!

A picture of me and them making someone actually their emergency contact person so the staff can talk to them is ridiculous!!!

JOSE POvercharging for services I didn’t request. Giving me false information about rates when I contacted via phone which added to my bill. Accused me of being a liar when I asked to speak to a manager even after I gave him the time of call to review the conversation. Jose was the person I spoke with and even after reviewing my rental history ( I’ve rented here 4 times in the last 2 weeks, spoke to me as if he was going to bar me from future rentals when I confronted him about the situation. In the future I will be taking my business to a business that appreciates a loyal customer.

I got the distinct impression that it was because I no longer live in Bakersfield. I grew up there and I know when I'm being "home towned".

BONNIE JLady that helped me came in to help get the line down and had a little attitude like she didn’t want to be in there. Then when asked for a reference # and started dialing it, didn’t tell me that they would be calling them while my wife was at a dialysis clinic. Then when we walked out to hook up the trailer to my pick up, she kept the attitude going talking to me like I had never hooked up a trailer before. She asked didn’t explained to me that the side step folds down to allow the driver door to open on the car trailer, I only found that out when I dropped it off.

ANITA RThis is the second time i have rented from this location and both times there was baby roaches in it. After talking to employee , they said its only common practice to spray trucks if customers say the have roaches...its should be MANDATORY after every use. Will not be renting from U Haul again sadly.
