The trailer light connection was partially corroded off. The lot attendant was not concerned about this and offered just don't drive at night. Not acceptable!

The most important thing to be aware of, which I learned the hard way, is that the website booking DOES NOT guarantee anything. Don’t bother with online booking, call or go in. I “booked” moving accessories with my truck, and showed up assuming all was well. When checking in at the desk (because the app for doesn’t work and “contactless pickup” is fiction) the agent simply said “we are out of blankets and dolly’s sorry. You can have one of the appliance dolly’s if you want.” which was useless for my application. This would have been disastrous for my tight schedule and non professional movers. I made it work because the furniture store I HAPPENED to be picking up from on the same day generously lent me dolly’s. The truck that I rented was fine. Clearly they don’t put a ton of resources in to little maintenance things like wheel balancing as going over 80km/h was a struggle. If you are going long haul make sure you have discussed that with an agent. The employees were nice enough and knowledgeable, and obviously there was nothing an employee can do in the moment to materialize non-existent equipment. I was so thrown off by the check in process that I forgot to ask about the mattress bag I prepaid for and ultimately didn’t get. I am still just gobsmacked by the lack of communication about “booked” items. The website process is utterly misleading and the location is not set up to handle the resulting problems. The employees apparently can only make excuses for the “first come first serve” policy. I guess there’s no one else to rent a moving truck from but I will be way more cautious if I use it again.

Michael HWhen I was trying to book my U-Haul through the app It kept malfunctioning and forcing me to start over it took me nearly 35 min to book the thing. I made this booking for a specific event, I was supposed to arrive for the event, by 9:30 am. The earliest I could pickup was 9 am so I did that. I arrived right when you opened, but there was a severe lack of staff for a busy weekend morning and I didn't even get to the counter until after 9:15. I had attempted to check in through the app multiple times, but the app wouldn't finish check in no matter what I did so I was forced to go to a counter. Despite booking in the app, answering all the questions and filling out all the paperwork in advance as well as putting in my card information online to book the U-Haul and saving the card info in my account, the person at the counter went through all of it again, he gave me an estimate of close to $90 despite my original booking showing an estimate of less than $60. Then I was informed they couldn't use the card I had saved to my file that I had booked the U-Haul with and had used to pay for a U-Haul earlier in the week. As I only have a visa debit and not a credit card, I was told they would put a $125 hold on my card, since it was a debit card. Except I only had $80 available in my account (which was well over the estimate I had been given when booking) By this point I was already more than late for the event I was supposed to be at. I had to call a family member to use a credit card in order to get the truck I had booked and already put all my payment information in for. Once I finally got out to the truck I went into the app in order to do the check in and take the photos for the rental, the app kept bringing up an error and wouldn't load the page at all so I gave up and left without taking the photos as I was already 20 min late. Then when actually going to load the U-Haul I discovered there was a rental dolly left inside the truck, I had not asked for a dolly, nor did I have need of a dolly. So I'm assuming the staff don't check the vehicles at all before renting them back out again. (This is now the 2nd U-Haul I have picked up from this location that had stuff left in it, previously it was some random garbage and a pair of old sweatpants, so I guess at least this one was mostly clean?) I was able to get the app to function for me to return the vehicle after hours but it took multiple tries as it kept going back to the first page over and over and I kept having to repeatedly put in the information. But I was informed multiple times there's an additional $20 fee if you don't do it. If you are going to make the use of an app mandatory, please make sure the technology actually functions. My experience with U-Haul is progressively getting worse and worse each year. Do better

Paul NThe trailer was full of mud and was the only one available in that size. Not exactly the best situation when I was moving furniture with it. This is the only U Haul that supplies trailers in the end of Calgary that I live in. It’s almost always a frustrating experience here. I either need to stop moving or buy a truck or something.

WILLIAM BI scheduled my vehicle pickup online but when I arrived the allocated truck was blocked in. Thankfully the location was open and the friendly staff quickly switch my rental to an available unit. Would have been a pain if they were not open when I picked it up as I couldn't see a way to change it on the app.

Gordon JWhen I picked up the Truck, the gas tank only had about 6% fuel. The staff member told me that if I returned the car with a quarter tank, I would receive $52 back. However, I only received $36 back, and an additional $5 was deducted for car cleaning.

What really angered me was the changing of the drop off location-I asked for Penticton and after the rental trailer was picked up, the drop-off location was changed to Okanagan Falls the next day. I dropped off the equipment to Penticton and expect no extra charges.

The truck I picked up was nearly empty and brought it back with more than the gas before. And asked for a refund but they laughed instead and tried to be smart. Remember, customers always right and specially i have a proof pictures. Stop being arrogant and take the job seriously.
John CThe truck I rented was in unacceptable condition. It experienced strong vibrations while driving, would not drive straight, and had excessive play in the steering wheel, which made it difficult and unsafe to control.

angela cWhen we arrived to pick up our rental, though we had registered online in advance for a mobile pick up, the front desk attendant seemed to have no idea how to help give us our keys. After waiting for someone else to hand us our keys off the wall, we pointed out that the truck that was selected for us was behind 4-5 other trucks and needed to be retrieved, so we waited for it to be fished out. Once our truck was retrieved we were told it was good to go, keys in the ignition with the engine running. Finally we left but were unable to properly check in with the rental unit’s odometer, fuel gauge or exterior photos as our check in link had expired… we were hoping to get an early start as we had a lot of stuff to move. Overall a stressful collection experience. Our rental drop off in the evening went smoothly as they were closed and staff were un present.

Sean MI originallynally booked a location near my home twice, but each time the final reservation was changed to the Blackfoot SE location without my approval. Because I was extremely busy with moving and the location was much farther away, I called to ask about it. They was told that this was the only location where the equipment I reserved was available, so I had no choice but to keep the booking. However, when I arrived in the morning to pick up the truck, I was informed that the equipment I had reserved had already been rented out and was unavailable. They simply processed a refund. This is unacceptable. The only reason I agreed to book that distant location was because I specifically needed that equipment. If it was unavailable, there was absolutely no reason for me to go out of my way to that location. To make matters worse, the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. They handled everything however they wanted, and I was genuinely shocked by how poorly this was managed. What was even more unbelievable was that not a single employee apologized for the situation. Instead, they were dismissive, arrogant, and outright rude. Even if demand is high and customer service is clearly not a priority, U-Haul should at the very least honor reservations that were made three weeks in advance. Otherwise, what is the point of making a reservation at all? The confidence to send out a customer survey after handling business this way is honestly astonishing.
Chul SThe vehicle did not have the stated fuel, the heater fan did not work, the driver door did not seal and there was a strong breeze from it while driving, the radio dis not work and the vehicle steering was so bad I suggest an alignment is due.

John EI delivered the vehicle (on a one way trip) from Calgary to Kelowna a full day early and could not receive any money back or credit. The irony is if I delivered it a day late, I would be charged, but if I delivered it a day early, nothing is offer to me as the client. This is terrible customer service. I don’t care if a “flat rate” was applied to this delivery, it makes no sense.
Nick SThe truck itself was fine however the vehicle dolly was extremely rusty and difficult to use. The ratchet straps required a significant amount of spray lube to release so I could properly load the vehicle I was towing. The one side fought with me for over a half hour before it finally came free. Other than that the service at the rental center was efficient.
Dawson Bseemed to be an excess of SMS msgs in advance of pickup. Including one 2 days before that had pickup date wrong - which was confusing. A walkthru of buttons in cab would have been helpful. There were buttons on left side that i never did figure out. FOund the one that converted from Miles to KM by accident. never did find out if truck had cruise control, or how to turn on high beams permamently (vs flashing). Truck ran well. Couldn't get any Am or FM stations reception after i left past Canmore. Not sure if me or an issue with radio or antenna.

DARREL BMy truck barley had 1/4 of gas. The back was messy And not fully clean. While I underestimated the filling of the tank I got charged an extra $30 as it was barely below a 1/4 tank. No gas stations around that are easy access to full up. Poor service and communication

Colin AFirst, I made a reservation (#21109281) that was confirmed for pickup at 17 AVE. When I got there, they said they never received any confirmation. I checked my account, and I realized that U-Haul moved my reservation to Blackfoot (I never received a notification about it). I arrived there to pick up the truck and the dollies, and they told me there are no dollies and the online reservation doesn't guarantee anything, what a joke! Finally, you overcharged me by about $30, and there was no explanation for it. See you soon, guys, this hasn't ended.
