Bill TPoor communication -handed off between staff with no explanation. No review of contract just handed a paper and staff disappeared. Expected to use app that didn’t work. I like U-Haul as a company but compared to Gatineau experience, this left a lot to be desired.

Corey MThe cab of the truck had an strong dirty smell. The truck had damage to the passenger door. The overall cleanliness of the truck was poor. I have seen other fleets that actually show some pride in the vehicle condition. Picking up the vehicle took longer than it should have, i waited for 30 minutes. The return of the vehicle was quick and painless. I will not rent from this site again.
Stephen FThis is 'nit-picky' because overall, it was an awesome rental experience; the column shifter on the ford chassis had very vague indents for reverse and drive...that's it! Oh yeah... dealing with Ben upon return was incredible! You'll want to keep him as an employee!

Mario RThe trailer was not clean when I initially inspected it. However, there was no hesitation on the part of the the U-Haul yard man to clean it. He swept it out and also mopped the floor. So in the end and after only a few minutes of delay, the inside of the trailer was clean and ready to go. Very good customer service by the U-Haul yard man.
Edward TThe trailer didn’t have a lift on it if you unhooked it from the truck. Made it a bit of a pain to get it back on the hitch. The back roll up door would go up to far and made it difficult to get it back out of the housing at the top. Other than that it was effective at the job.

Phillip LThe trailer light connection was partially corroded off. The lot attendant was not concerned about this and offered just don't drive at night. Not acceptable!
James PThe most important thing to be aware of, which I learned the hard way, is that the website booking DOES NOT guarantee anything. Don’t bother with online booking, call or go in. I “booked” moving accessories with my truck, and showed up assuming all was well. When checking in at the desk (because the app for doesn’t work and “contactless pickup” is fiction) the agent simply said “we are out of blankets and dolly’s sorry. You can have one of the appliance dolly’s if you want.” which was useless for my application. This would have been disastrous for my tight schedule and non professional movers. I made it work because the furniture store I HAPPENED to be picking up from on the same day generously lent me dolly’s. The truck that I rented was fine. Clearly they don’t put a ton of resources in to little maintenance things like wheel balancing as going over 80km/h was a struggle. If you are going long haul make sure you have discussed that with an agent. The employees were nice enough and knowledgeable, and obviously there was nothing an employee can do in the moment to materialize non-existent equipment. I was so thrown off by the check in process that I forgot to ask about the mattress bag I prepaid for and ultimately didn’t get. I am still just gobsmacked by the lack of communication about “booked” items. The website process is utterly misleading and the location is not set up to handle the resulting problems. The employees apparently can only make excuses for the “first come first serve” policy. I guess there’s no one else to rent a moving truck from but I will be way more cautious if I use it again.

Michael HWhen I was trying to book my U-Haul through the app It kept malfunctioning and forcing me to start over it took me nearly 35 min to book the thing. I made this booking for a specific event, I was supposed to arrive for the event, by 9:30 am. The earliest I could pickup was 9 am so I did that. I arrived right when you opened, but there was a severe lack of staff for a busy weekend morning and I didn't even get to the counter until after 9:15. I had attempted to check in through the app multiple times, but the app wouldn't finish check in no matter what I did so I was forced to go to a counter. Despite booking in the app, answering all the questions and filling out all the paperwork in advance as well as putting in my card information online to book the U-Haul and saving the card info in my account, the person at the counter went through all of it again, he gave me an estimate of close to $90 despite my original booking showing an estimate of less than $60. Then I was informed they couldn't use the card I had saved to my file that I had booked the U-Haul with and had used to pay for a U-Haul earlier in the week. As I only have a visa debit and not a credit card, I was told they would put a $125 hold on my card, since it was a debit card. Except I only had $80 available in my account (which was well over the estimate I had been given when booking) By this point I was already more than late for the event I was supposed to be at. I had to call a family member to use a credit card in order to get the truck I had booked and already put all my payment information in for. Once I finally got out to the truck I went into the app in order to do the check in and take the photos for the rental, the app kept bringing up an error and wouldn't load the page at all so I gave up and left without taking the photos as I was already 20 min late. Then when actually going to load the U-Haul I discovered there was a rental dolly left inside the truck, I had not asked for a dolly, nor did I have need of a dolly. So I'm assuming the staff don't check the vehicles at all before renting them back out again. (This is now the 2nd U-Haul I have picked up from this location that had stuff left in it, previously it was some random garbage and a pair of old sweatpants, so I guess at least this one was mostly clean?) I was able to get the app to function for me to return the vehicle after hours but it took multiple tries as it kept going back to the first page over and over and I kept having to repeatedly put in the information. But I was informed multiple times there's an additional $20 fee if you don't do it. If you are going to make the use of an app mandatory, please make sure the technology actually functions. My experience with U-Haul is progressively getting worse and worse each year. Do better

Paul NThe trailer was full of mud and was the only one available in that size. Not exactly the best situation when I was moving furniture with it. This is the only U Haul that supplies trailers in the end of Calgary that I live in. It’s almost always a frustrating experience here. I either need to stop moving or buy a truck or something.

WILLIAM BI scheduled my vehicle pickup online but when I arrived the allocated truck was blocked in. Thankfully the location was open and the friendly staff quickly switch my rental to an available unit. Would have been a pain if they were not open when I picked it up as I couldn't see a way to change it on the app.
