I initially reserved a truck online at the Burke location in Visalia California. I went to pick up my truck and found that the staff forgot to put my key in the pickup box. So I was told to go to the mineral king location where I was treated professionally and helpful!miguel A.

Considering that there was only one person working (on a Sunday) and that I had to come back later because the employee had to take a mandatory lunch and I had to wait a very long time in line to get helped and that my reserved trailer was not available, I have to say that the staff who helped me did the best that a person could do and did not cave under the pressure put on by several upset people who had to wait a long time. Thankfully somebody else was called in to help so there were two working (one in the shop/yard taking care of equipment and one in the office taking care of customers) I understand that this problem was caused by being understaffed which was most likely caused by lax government rules that provide incentives for employees to not show up to work and forces businesses to either provide poor service or shut down. When I returned the trailer, it was not understaffed and instead of waiting an hour like I did to pick it up, it took me 5 minutes to drop off, check out and get my receipt emailed. I had requested a covered trailer (5x8), but was not available so I received a slightly larger (5x9) uncovered ramp trailer which worked fine. No problems with the trailer at all, no malfunctions, no issues. I just want to say "goodjob" to the woman who was called in to help and did a good job handling the stress.... Bad job on the government for allowing employees to call in sick and be protected and is causing businesses to offer lower than expected services.Francisco S.

I have rented at this location numerous times. This last experience will possibly end my renting from this location. The continued wait time shows either lack of the managers ability to staff appropriately, organize effectively, troubleshoot on how to expedite selling merchandise, rental returns, rentals with reservations & rentals without reservations. With every one of my rentals I have experienced wait times as staff are attempting to locate keys, wait for slow computer response, double duty from desk to cleaning vehicles as the line continues to grow & other tasks. We arrived to pick up a reserved truck & were met with a line with a 20 min wait outside the door + an additional hour & 25 min as we "progressed" to the desk. Yes 1 hr & 45 minutes. we were then told we would need to wait until the pickup was cleaned to which I replied we would take it as is. We were told the keys we're in it & where it was but no one came to do the walk around so after another 10 min we videoed it & left. 5 min shy of 2 hrs we drove off the premises which resulted in my missing attendance at an important annual business meeting. Several people came in to buy products but after a lengthy wait in line they put the items back & left. To me, this shows a total disrespect for people who have chosen to do business here & give their money to support this site. I will now take my business elsewhere in hopes they will be more appreciative & respectful of the time element to which has caused individuals to have to use their vehicles.Aaron C.

The guy behind counter was less than helpful. I reserved a truck with lift gate. I was given one without. I reserved pads & he said there wasn't any. I asked a different person who brought me the pads. Hmmm looks like there were some. The truck pull down did not work properly & the truck would jump starting & backing. Looks like the truck had only a 1/4 tank of gas when I picked it up which I was not verbally informed. I put $30 gas before I brought it back which is a lot more than what I started with. Whenever I've rented a truck before, it was always a full tank.Deborah B.

Truck was clean on the inside yet full of dried mud everywhere else. Truck ran poorly, I was continually worried it would break down, the back door got stuck several times, and the ramp got stuck too. You can buy boxes and tape, anything in the store. You can reserve a truck but when it comes to actually renting a truck I get screwed around on my day of need because some bullshit policie change and refusal of my credit card.. I've spent over ten grand with this company last few years but NEVER again. U haul has lost any further business I might of given them... and you'll be dsmn sure I'll be telling my friends as well. This truck was huge and we could not drive it 220 miles without a functioning right side mirror so we had to tape it place. This was a safety issue and I was very unhappy about this.Robert H.

Chris was very helpful at addressing issues we experienced with our move out. A+++ for his assistance!! The lady who checked me in, initially was lovely. The reasons I would not recommend this facility are: 1) poor staffing relative to the volume that this location experiences. This site has been like this for years. You make money by providing substandard service because you can. 2) flooded storage area, then difficulty reaching staff to find out what happened because.....#1. 3) I suggest someone do a walk-through at night to ensure that vehicles on remote pickup are accessible and that late night dropoff spots are clearly marked. 4) When there's a problem and the manager is unreachable that speaks volumes about what is important and it's not the customer. No dedicated troubleshooter on call after hours? Check. My new storage is with an independent chain, and people could not be nicer. I really like dealing with real people and not people reciting corporate scripts. They called to follow up with me on moving day and made themselves available after scheduled office hours when they knew we were running late. WOW!! This uhaul is somewhat saved by the people here who manage to care despite the hurdles to doing so. I deeply respect those doing a good job under these circumstances. You are front line workers. I'm sorry you have to deal with what you deal with Better staffing will alleviate the negative google reviews because people who aren't so stressed can do a better job. Customers who can anticipate better service don't come in primed to make sure everyone around them has a bad day. Other than this location being a little overwhelmed by high demand and low staff, this is an excellent location. Starting with the fairly young manager Duncan Vaughn. He goes out of his way to guide and take care of your needs. With our few hundred mile move, truck and tow dolly drop off. Also making our reserved storage space possible after some hiccups in the UHAUL system. We drove all the way out to Visalia and were told our reservation did not appear in their system, even though I had the Reservation Number and provided it. Refusal of billing staff to properly maintain customer information, direct payment for storage units, and still receive late notices for unpaid invoices. Extremely frustrating! Office managers being placed in no win positions by upper management, resulted in lost time, extra effort by the customer. Rental vehicle was filthy and tech on the truck did not work. Very disappointed with Uhaul, after several rentals and storage ventures, this by far was the worst!
