I would strongly recommend 1) updating your advertising to reflect accurate pricing - rental fee, plus insurance, plus gas, plus mileage. Even a simple in-town pickup of a craiglist bed ends up being about $50, not the $20 as advertised on all the trucks. 2) updating the app to a more efficient, user-friendly model, and 3) changing the online after-hours check-in process. It currently requires a full account login, two rounds of complex Captcha, and gps confirmation. When I couldn't complete the check-in there were no instructions on where to call. I went home and tried to do it there, and it seemed fine, but there were no additional instructions or confirmation of the check-in. It wasn't until the next day that I learned the check-in hadn't completed. Requiring people to go through a long, online check-in while standing at the site, while it's freezing cold and dark, is not customer-friendly.

The app regularly says “no network connection” when I have four bars or am on wifi... that was annoying. Everyone at the U-Haul location was very friendly.

The guys at the 48th & Powell store were great! I rented a van. The only recommendation I have is some kind of cover for the metal tie down/anchors on the floor to reduce chances of damage to cargo. Thank you!

Your entire staff at the Powell location is AWESOME. Justin saved the day when I needed help getting into my truck. The gentleman that helped me rent the truck was super friendly and accommodating. The gent who checked my equp in the next morning was professional, kind and thorough. Very efficient team and to top if off, super friendly and kind. You are lucky to have them all as employees representing Uhaul!

I rented a truck and a large dolly that both were dirty I ordered this truck on a rush and realized again why I refuse to use Uhaul. You charge an insane amount of money for mileage when other rentals do not. And I should have given myself more time to find a better company to rent from. I will not make that mistake again. When renting from a better company for a longer move I had a nice new clean truck, no mileage tacked on, and a dolly that did not have manure all over it like this one. If you are going to rent out your trucks for construction use you should clean them thoroughly after. All in all I wish I had gone to a better company that was not as much. My bill would have been much lower and I would be leaving them a top notch comment rather than this one saying how much I disapprove with Uhaul and their care for their rentals.

The location was excellent but the process of getting there was absolutely terrible. Initially, U-Haul told me the pick up location was downtown portland and never notified me that it had changed until the morning of, when I had to call them to see what was going on. At that point, the man I spoke to on the phone said he was going to email me a change confirmation and a text message with the new pick up details. This didn't come for another hour+ when I was trying to go pick up the truck literally that moment as I had reserved it for 8am but was having to track down the truck to begin with. Then, the person on the phone gave me the address verbally and I had entered the address into my phone because I didn't have a car and needed to Lyft to the address. The address took me 20+ miles out to Gresham and took me to the wrong location but it had the exact same address aside from the zip code. Needless to say I was very frustrated by the entire experience and wished U-Haul had just sent me a change confirmation the night before instead of a few hours after the reservation was scheduled for. Very unsatisfied and wish I could get a refund for all the time I spent trying to track down this truck.

Charged for a cleaning that didn’t need to be done and overcharged for gas. Not happy. Drove 36 miles and charged $30 for gas.

The vehicle ran well, but that was the only good part of my experience with U-Haul. I was told I could pick up and drop off my vehicle during off-hours, "using our app!" Well, the app is non-functional. I arrived early on a COLD winter morning, before the location opened, but the app said I had no reservations. Same with the regular website, although I had a confirmation email clearly showing my reservation time. I waited on hold for the "24/7" customer service, which NEVER picked up after 30 minutes. I had to start my trip 2 hours late, after the location had opened. Same experience dropping the vehicle off -- I had to wait until they opened the next morning, which made me late for work. Manager at the location would take no responsibility and would not offer me anything to make up for the inconvenience. He only said, lamely, "that system is new and has a lot of glitches." Not even, "We're sorry about that." If you have any other option, avoid U-Haul.

the wifi is very slow and makes using the app a slow process. The locks with the keys are hard to use. The staff was helpful and awesome! The online chat staff was also helpful when I mistakenly uploaded the front of my id twice. Overall great service with exceptional value.

No complaints with location but with the U-Haul process. When i kept the truck longer than expected i got a series of nastygrams by text and email from U-Haul, which made it sound like you thought i had stolen the truck and you would begin the recovery process. Rather than just needing it for some extra time. May i suggest a phone call to ask if i want to keep it for longer (and pay you more money) rather than calling the debt collectors.

Our 15' truck leaked pretty severely from the top during a rain storm. Also it was left in "tow/haul" mode when we received it even though it was empty. This caused some initial confusion due to squeaky suspension.

The inside was muddy. Whoever was in it last must have been very muddy. Steering wheel was muddy as well as center console. It wasnt that bad. Just saying. Its cleaner now than when ii .got it

Be clear and upfront about taxes, fees, and service charges. There is no reason that a customer should go in expecting to pay $30 (plus mileage) and end up paying $60 (not including gas.) This should happen at the advertising level, not at the point of sale.

Your self check out system SUCKS! Set up reservation, confirmed twice online and once IN PERSON at the location that they had the reservation and the truck would be ready AND accessible (because I tried this before and it was blocked in) and at 7:30 AM on Sunday the reservation then showed to be picked up at 9 when the location opened. Called, customer service said they spoke with a manager who said his employee would be there at 8:15. (45 minutes later) By 835 there was still no employee. At 8:45 employee was there and said he couldn't help me until 9. After repeated pounding on the door the employee finally came and begrudgingly reloaded the reservation in his system so the email sent again. God forbid they could've helped me physically to check out the truck rather than make me go through your multi step process and struggle with the poorly designed lockbox after I've been standing out in the 32° weather for over an hour. Thanks uhaul for nothing!

Don't require more than 2 different alternate contacts when reserving a uhaul through the website. Totally ridiculous. I ended up spending $10 more just to have the van reserved at this location's front desk.

I have photographic proof of returning the truck an hour before it was due. My phone does not do your return method so I tried to do it on computer when I got home and sent all the relevant info. I returned the truck clean and kicked with only 19.6 miles driven. The excess $20 charge was punitive and unwarranted scam against honest paying customers.

I drove 14 miles and gas gauge was below E before I got back. I was then told that, not only would I pay to replace gas in truck, I would be charged an extra $30 for returning it with less than 1/4 tank. Something wrong with their system.
