Two price increases in one year for a facility that was receiving no maintenance were too much. Coaches that were too large for their spaces were parked everywhere, which made it difficult to make the turn into our space. The access through the U-Haul maintenance yard was often a problem when semis, trucks, trailers, and storage boxes were strewn everywhere, creating an obstacle course when trying to leave the facility. Plus management of this facility always seemed to reflect the attitude that it was their way or the highway. All things considered, it was time to move out. Was provide with a storage unit that already been rented and found out when I arrived to the unit with lock on it Then called the office and was given another unit. When I opened the unit I noticed the bottom of the door was bent and broken glass was all over the place with stuff from the previous tenants. Tried calling again no answer so I had to drive back to the main office a distance away wait in line again to tell them about the mess of this unit. At that point I told the clerk I was in a hurry and needed to have it cleaned. The clerk said he will get someone out there as soon as he can. I waited about 30min and decided to remove the previous tenants struggle and kick some of the glass and began to unload. About halfway through is when someone arrived to clean it. They did what they could with the glass and took the left stuff. My issue is I was fist rented a unit that had been rented already and the one finally provided to me was dirty and not cleared out. This wasted a lot of my time that morning where I had to adjust the rest of my day. Please ensure units are available when rented and they are cleaned before rented out to a new tenant. Staff was friendly but not helpful reserved RV spot online and called to verify day before towing RV 30 miles to your facility spent two hours at your facility to find out you do not have an RV spot reserved for me someone else is parked in there your representative proceeded to call other renters to see if they still one of their spot to try to help me in the end I spent my day wasted no RV spot and you still haven’t refunded my money. Completely on organized I’m sure your other clients I would not feel that their RVs are secure in your facility knowing this. Disgusted. Traveled across America- rented trucks from uhaul twice in same amount of months. Originated out of Springfield Illinois with no issues. Final leg of trip out of Granbury, Tx- again no issues. Great service. Outstanding actually. Made a reservation for storage facility in Surprise for 10x20 unit. Arrived that morning 7am sharp, waited in line for 30 minutes in a completely understaffed facility. Had movers scheduled- being paid hourly waiting for us to meet them to unload the 26' truck. Once we were actually being assisted by the "kid" behind the uhaul counter- he proceeded to tell us he had no available units - actually told us our "reservation is FIRST COME- FIRST SERVE." What? ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. We traveled almost 1000 miles- Arriving late previous night in a 26' truck needing to be unloaded- by movers waiting in 100° heat to be told "oh well- sorry for your luck." Angry doesn't begin to describe our emotions with this ridiculous situation. I demanded the general manager of the facility be contacted & immediately come speak to us. We dismissed our movers paying them for a wasted hour and a half of their time. Waited another 30 minutes for the manager to come speak with us. After angrily explaining the circumstances & demanding another day of uhaul "eating costs" of uhaul truck- he miraculously located a storage locker - 10x20 to accommodate our items. Manager was patient, professional & helpful but that does not change the fact that now we are over 2 hours of inconvenience & frustration- movers gone & having to reschedule our unload for next day. Costing us valuable time & money and another night in hotel by facility. I need not remind Uhaul that we had many options for renting and advertising available storage locker & reserving it with our credit card should be a done deal- legitimate reservation- not false advertising which is exactly what we faced that morning from a kid behind counter who didn't seem to appreciate or care about the severity of our situation. I cannot express enough the manager was the hero of the day- but it was after much upset and frustration. I spent 30 minutes calling around to find another storage facility big enough to accommodate our items only to be told 2 hours later uhaul actually had one at that very site. We had to pay our movers to come back next day and do what should have been done that morning. I plan to write uhaul corporate a letter of complaint and will be a very long time before we ever consider renting from uhaul again. This is not how you treat customers who are two grand into your company with 2 moves within 2 months. You made our situation unbelievably stressful, expensive & all unnecessarily. We had other options of companies- we chose uhaul because of service we received in Illinois and Texas. Arizona is a entirely different scenario. So give the manager a raise- he is a gem. But hire more staff to accommodate your customers and train them to be more understanding to people who expect their reservation to be honored. I asked the employee if he wanted to see my contract, he said no he would get the info off the trailer. After taking my money, the manager had no way to pay back their mistake for 5 days, no offer to refund $10 of the rental because of their mistake, just â€œwe checked it in on the south lot, sorry I have to keep your money for five daysâ€THOMAS L.
