What would you own a trailer that you use twice a year. Have to maintain and store it for how inexpensive it is to rent one from u haul. Plus their trailers are better built, easier to tow. Also why scratch and bang the box of your truck bed, when they make these so inexpensive to rent. 32.00 for 24 hrs for a full 5x9 trailer ( wheel wells are on the outside). I never use the back of my truck anymore. Plus it’s lower to ground for loading and unloading. It’s a no brainer.

The truck I received failed to start after it was on location and fully loaded. I had to boost the truck to start it. I did not have to travel far, so I left the truck running (idling) for a while to allow the battery to charge. This operating at idle incurred unnecessary additional fuel cost. The cab interior was dirty. It had a lot of dirt and sand on the floorboard and dried coffee or soda stains in and around the cup holder.

The customer service representitive made an inappropriate comment to us upon entering the office. He then proceeded to speak with an annoyance in his voice and was making rude, sarcastic remarks throughout our transaction. It made us feel uncomfortable. He didn't ask us any information and insisted we didn't have a storage unit reserved, even after showing him the reservation on the Uhaul phone app. After a few minutes he figured it out and we received our unit, but still with atritude. Not an enjoyable first experience with the company.

The trailer was not swept out by the previous renter. Alos when I picked up the trailer it was wet out. The trailer had water along the one side. The trailer could use to be resealed at some point. There is no sence having an enclosed trailer if its leaking. I informed the staff of the two issues and he said hhe would note it . Overall the trailer towed well and functioned as it should.

fix your website. kept going down. call centre did not know the locations in Sarnia. I was directed to a location with nothing but storage. nothing but signs, no human needed or used. a really nickle and dime operation. Website needs to be fixed to keep from going down so much. Site should have a lists of vehicles available at that site. Not all locations have all the vehicles listed. For a company owned by a man worth over 3 billion it is a shambles. The cheapness is obvious. A company with no real competition could be run a lot better and likely make more money than it does. Have run into some horrible managers but Chris, although not a manager was incredible. 11 year man is very rare and makles it a pleasure to deal with.

I've dealt with Uhaul for years. It's weird that you can rent the bigger trucks, 10' & up putting cash up front. But however, you need a credit card to rent a cargo van or pickup. I no longer have a credit card. I am cash everywhere I go. I've rented from your company off & on for about 20 years.

Les is a great asset to the UHaul venue. Everything was great, truck was ready and clean. It's too bad my day trip 200 km each way was 99 cents per KM, the $49 per day rent turned into $500 and that seems a little much. Maybe a graduated cost per KM?

My only “complaint” is related to payment/billing. I love that I got invoice reminders a week before due date, but the inability to make payment without setting up a credit card due to US infrastructure is a bit of a pain. However staff was always polite when we came in to make payments.

When the fire happened, there was zero notice given to customers, I found out through social media and was never informed of if I was affected or not, whether I could attend to get my stuff, nothing. When I moved my belongings, the engine light was on the truck, windshield wiper held on with a shoe lace, and it sounded like the axel or tie rods were in bad shape. I was so scared of driving it I asked someone who has their bus license to drive it because I knew there were no other trucks and I needed to get my stuff out. When I mentioned that the truck was in rough shape, the answer was “well they aren’t brand new” …. No kidding but if I’m paying to rent a truck I expect it to be able to pass a safety which this truck most certainly would not have. I didn’t even fill out the condition form because that was an absolute JOKE. I am absolute appalled with the way the manager runs this business. I also learned apparently people actively live there and also work on their cars there, and the owners turn a blind eye. No wonder there was a fire, the manager just simply doesn’t care!!!!! I will never use U-Haul again nor recommend them to a single person, in fact I will be recommending to avoid them at all costs. Can’t believe I ever chose this company. Disgrace.

Stored a three bedroom townhouse here for 10 months before everything was burnt to the ground. The prices are high, there is no fire safety equipment in place for the storage units. Risky. When we asked if we could see what remained in our burnt unit they told us it was all gone, we did not get to have pictures of the remains for the insurance company and our peace of mind. My kids lost everything, and we lost all of our furniture and memories.

The only negative thing we found was the amount of dust and pollen that covered everything in the storage unit and the fact that everything smelled musty which I can understand as our things were stored for well over a year, the people were great, good experience, next time I would get a climatized unit if storing for a long period of time.

We had a disaster moving pick up (not uhaul related) back at the end of July and had some things left over that had to be stored short notice as we were leaving that night, and we had to rent a cargo van to move it. The staff then and recently were very congenial and helpful even though both times were stressful. All was well in the end and my stepmother was even able to get some moving supplies that she needed so she is happy to have all the supplies for her move at the end of October. Thank you for your patience with us through both phone calls and personal visits.

Don’t let the “yes/no“ questions above fool you. One staff member, Chris, was incredibly polite and helpful. The other two were not. The first person I dealt with I felt like reaching across the counter and checking for a pulse. No customer service skills whatsoever. We got faced with a challenge in my getting a storage unit, and rather than attempt to seek a solution he shrugged his shoulders essentially saying “that’s the way it is“. The second person I was dealing with was faced with a challenge as well, but a different one. While I admit that he came to a solution, the solution itself was problematic. To that he too essentially shrugged his shoulders and said that “there’s nothing I can do about it”. Neither one of these gentlemen had any level of, “I’m sorry this is happening“ or, “let’s get to the bottom of this and try to find a resolution“ with any sort of a smile, pleasant or caring demeanor. Incidentally both of these challenges were a direct result of U-Haul mistakes. Thankfully Chris came to the rescue. The facility itself is good, average on cleanliness, the carts were dirty, two of which had mystery liquid residue on them. But I’m not too sure what else to say about a storage unit. I noticed that this U-Haul storage facility was rented out to capacity. That’s a dangerous place for a business to be. Management and staff tend to become complacent because people will continue to rent from them. The business/marketing world is chock full of cautionary tales of businesses where customers, when faced with a choice, will always opt for the one where they are treated well and leave the place that at one point was a thriving business. Except for Chris, I was not treated well here. (Full disclosure: for my trouble I did get the first month of rental free, and I am thankful, but that was not offered to me. Rather I was the one who suggested it). If it weren’t for my significant road exhaustion from a cross country trip I would have gone elsewhere.

Lori Kirk and her husband are very friendly and approachable. It is clear they have invested in keeping Sarnia a friendly community and their business definitely shares the friendly community spirit. Lori Kirk went above and beyond when she helped me by delivering some items from my storage locker not only once, but twice, to the Hospital when I could not. Not many people, much less busy business owners, would offer their valuable time. It was not lost on me. Lori also called and made sure I had given someone permission to enter my locker- which I had. Great service. I would definitely recommended using this company for hauling and storage needs. If a person walks through theirs doors with a good attitude, it will come back at them tenfold. Just don’t be a day late renting anything without letting them know!

Last time I was emptying out my storage unit on London line it was so icy I slipped n fell hurting my lower back n hip..pretty sure it's on camera from my storage locker. It was at night after dinner just before my date to move out..pretty sure it was Jan.6. I was black n blue for over a wk n missed a couple days of work ftom barely being able to walk. I have pictures of how icy n unsafe the hole compound was the nite! Something should have been done about the icy. No reason for it to be that bad!

Was on a waiting list for a smaller unit. Got called and told I had to take it that moment or lose it. Did take it. Then tried getting a refund on the bigger unit I had rented and paid for for the next 2 weeks. They said no. So I kept it the last 2 weeks. If I had given it up when I got the other unit , U haul would rent it out to someone else and get paid twice for the 2 weeks. This sort of sucks.

The man assisting us was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I had by accident got the wrong size storage locker (realized this AFTER he completed the process, paid, and went to look at it). My husband and I went back to the man at the front desk to explain my mistake. I felt so worried since the bigger size that we needed would be all gone. I also didn’t want to bother them. The man was kind about the mix up and was able to upgrade us to the bigger storage unit with no issues. My panic instantly subsided! The man was so helpful. We also were able to schedule a u-haul truck while paying for our unit. Everything was so easy to schedule and confirm. Prices aren’t horrible either. That is the only thing I would add is that storage units are becoming pricey! It’s unfortunate. The price for renting a u-haul truck though is fair! Lastly, we were sold a lock and I found it pricey as well - roughly $12. Besides that, the service by the man was fantastic and very easy! I wish I could remember his name! Thanks again.

I honestly can't rate. What happened to me was I put a storage unit on reserve then paid for it on Feb 20th. $115.00. Due to us selling the house and I had no place to go. As it turned out exactly 7 days later I found a townhouse. Didn't need the unit. In fact I never used it. Never went on the storage unit property. I contacted UHaul via online chat and tried to see if under the circumstances I could be refunded. I just got told due to the rental agreement there is no pro rate or refunds on partially used usage. I agree 100% with the storage rules, but for someone like myself with the incident that happened, I figured there should be some sort of adjusting factor. There's a difference of using it for a period of short time and not using it at all. I was told just to make sure I cancel before Mar 20th so I don't get charged. Chris the employee I talked to for cancelling was really perfessional and was efficient. I work in retail, have for 30 years. I know the headaches of customers trying to pull tricks to get out of agreements. But mine was a legit situation, and I think to keep people happy, and not be hesitant to use your services, there should be some sort of adjustability We all know that there are ways in retail to go over and beyond to serve our customers appropriately . So needless to say, I paid $115 for absolutely no reason. No storage use. Didn't even crack the door or lock or enter the parking lot. That, I am not happy or satisfied about
