Customer service is very important. Related to my experience, I walked into this location at 4:45 pm, inquiring about a van for a quick relocation of some items to storage. The representative stated there were no vans available and directed me to another location. I was very perplexed, having driven up to the location and seen two vans in the parking garage. I stepped off the line and searched on Uhaul for a van. How coincidentally a van was available at 5:00pm. I made the reservation on-line and went back on the line at 5:02 pm to pick up the van. When I approached the customer service representative and stated to her that I have a reservation for 5:00 pm pick up. She proceeds to tell me that I didn't tell her I would wait and let her see. She then walks over to the parking garage monitors and sees what is obvious two vans in the lot. She radios for the van. As she is continuing with my reservation, her tone and disposition was very unpleasant often reiterating that the insurance I elected online is not refundable and I had to have the rental back by 9:00 pm or else I will be charged $300.00. Even though the time was 5:24 pm. I agreed to my terms and left the office to retrieve the van. If records reflect, as I know whomever is reading this has access to my account, that I am a frequent Uhaul customer. But for future reference, I will try to avoid this location. Thank you loyal customer.

I've had several U-Haul rentals in the last several months and one consistent problem I've noticed is how almost everyone struggles with the new software program that's being used. I have literally spent hours standing at a counters watching the employee deal with this. I've also dealt with a hazardous roadside assistance issue where I had to wait almost an hour and 30 minutes for a response. Your customers should not have to struggle with issues like this!

8 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the truck I was told my reservation was changed to an hour later. It took 20 minutes to deal with the clunky web system for the license. The return time was unchanged, and when I called for an extension they demanded a 70$ payment even if they are the reason why I needed more time. Ridiculous customer service and awful experience

I think the ladies in the front could've been a bit more helpful. This was my 2nd time renting a uhaul van but from a different location and the process I went through at the concourse location was completely different from the last location which was on Webster Ave within a restaurant. But overall it was okay.

The rear right tire of the truck I rented had low tire pressure. Someone had to put air in the tire before I even drove off the lot. There was broken glass in the passenger side door from a previous rental, even though the glass had been replaced, no one thought to clean up the broken glass. When I returned the vehicle even though I took pictures of the gas and mileage, somehow there was a discrepancy about the gas when I returned.

The reliance on smart phones to handle ALL components of the contracting and rental process is asinine. The employees at the South Bronx location were as helpful and knowledgeable as possible regarding the system, but they were not empowered to create a culture of efficiency since their management/leadership was forcing them to have the customers use a poorly engineered smart phone application with no paper copy recourse for in-person interactions. It took my partner and I 1.5 hours to get through the pick up process. Once we finally moved all of my furniture and returned the truck, the app somehow 'remembered' the wrong starting mileage. Because we could not get through the mileage page of the return questionnaire, we had to make up a number to enter and were charged for 17 miles despite having driven some number of miles that was likely less than this but that we do not know because we didn't photograph it on our personal camera apps at pick up amidst all the confusion of using the stupid app. In any case, the only selling point that u-haul has to offer is their low rates. The service is awful, and I don't know that any amount of discount will make me use the rental again when there are other options that, though a little pricier, will aid in my move with efficiency and convenience in a way that U-Haul could not.

The staff at check in were very professional, the process to review the truck was very clearly explained by the men in the truck yard, the truck was ready and available. It had enough gas to get me going without stopping at a station. Overall very happy. I was sent to this location after my location closest to my home was not available. If I had to say anything else that would be it was disappointing to have to change at the last minute..

It was hard to know what to do once I arrived - I was doing a pick-up online, and at first the site wasn't loading and I walked around for about fifteen minutes trying to figure out where an office was located to ask for help. The online process finally started working, and the truck pictured wasn't the actual truck I had been assigned. I found a really helpful Uhaul employee who was fantastic and got me all set up with a different truck, but clearer directions and signage would be really helpful.

My pick up location got changed twice. This location was good, the issue is that I had to go back to Queens, pay the toll, in order to pick up my stuff. Also, I was scheduling everything with my original pick up time of 8:30 am. This delay me three plus hours.

The customer service was horrible at the 149 st grand concourse location in NY the two assistants gave incorrect information regarding my refund I ended up not receiving anything although I didn't use all the miles I paid for was told I would be reimbursed for leftover miles once the Van was returned but that was false they gave me a hard time about my refund didn't give it to me and the manger was worse I don't recommend this location and the receptionists are part of the act and they were eating at their desks while seeing customers typing on desk tops and eating during Covid….nasty

My only tiny little criticism is that I needed to get a circular lock that is for U Haul storage units. So my locks that I had wasn't suitable nor acceptable, but that's ok. At least I was able to rent out a van, load and unload all on 1 day. And they had carts available to move heavy items from the van to the unit. That was helpful.

The facility was neat and clean but extremely hot it was 100 degrees on third floor every time I went there moving things around I almost passed out along with my 1yr old. Staff seem to not care how hot it was up there. Spending to much money for me be be unable to move with cool air. That facility where the units are shouldn’t be that hot.

Bad experience one day I came a half hour before closing the office closed while I was still in the building at my storage unit elevator stop working I had to call using the elevator emergency phone someone came show me out the back way I had storage I was taking out I had to drag it through the parking lot to the front entrance so that I could load it up and leave HORRIBLE experience never again!!!! UHAUL should have a closing announcement for all customers to hear which it does not !! take note make an announcement to notify people what is going on!!!

While the facility is very clean and well run NYC rodents are still a problem. I only saw one during a visit, there are many visible traps around. I can honestly state that my belongings (stored for six months) were not at all effected by them. And, I checked to make sure. The facility does make sure that you are not leaving garbage or storing food or other inappropriate materials. It was very easy to get in/out with my SUV and their rental trucks. The access hours worked great for me (5am to 10pm). I would definitely use them again.

The only bad experience for me was that I could not change the date of payment this was an ordeal for me as im retired and my benefits come once a month an I was always late on payments and incurred additional fees that affected my budget needs thus policy you have should be reviewed and changed its horrible experience. Im sure as a business you want to make as much money as you can however the cost of people loosing precious memories. As I have lost after two years of paying for my unit I couldn't keep my. Payments and had to donate all of my belongings Im sure im not the only one that has lost I did try to change that date via emails or calls that was a shame did not get answer and the only solution I was given was to pay two months in advance this was a hardship for my budget as a paying customer allowances should be made for long term renters. My issue isn't with the facility or the people who manage it but with the overall business model as a whole. I reached out last year saying raising prices during a global pandemic (even if it was a scheduled increase) was predatory and someone with real power should do something about this. I said I didn't need to speak to anyone about this at my facility because no one there has any power to change prices and procedures handed down from corporate. I STILL received a phone call from my storage facilities manager which quickly devolved into him insulting me and saying "they don't set prices"; I already knew that. I was shuffled to the side and insulted by someone I almost specifically asked not to speak to. I've given your company a lot of money over the years during the most trying times in my life without complaint. I will never give you another because of this and will discourage ANYONE who asks me from doing any business with you in the future.

Most of the people I dealt with at UHaul were disrespectful, rude, and not helpful. On top of that, I’ve waited for an hour plus countless times on the phone just to get to a customer service rep. Noone takes down notes, so every time I get to someone I have to say my story over and over again.

Only thing I would say, I transferred my storage unit to bigger unit and the new unit needed to be swept as there was a lot of dirt on the ground. I didn’t have the time to go and ask to have it cleaned up, but for the future this should not have been the case.
