Terrice R | Overall ExperienceI had scheduled a pickup at a different location and the day before I received a phone call that U-Haul had changed my pickup location to the Bronx instead of in Manhattan (remarkably, nothing was available where I actually lived, in Queens). Especially for such a large company and all the money I paid to rent the truck, the pickup process was remarkably inconvenient, which was furthered by the last minute location change.
Matthew BWhile I was waiting in line, I took the time to observe all the employees on duty. I have to say, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful—except for one young woman, who stood out for the wrong reasons. She was short, had dark skin, and long hair. Unfortunately, her energy and attitude toward customers came across as negative to me. Because of that, I did my best to avoid her and hoped to be assisted by someone else. When it eventually became unavoidable, I gave her a chance—but my concerns were confirmed. I chose to say I was finished and waited to be helped by another team member instead.

Nancy mThe price was too high and constant price increases. my experience with multiple the lazy front desk workers and one had the nerve to be rude also. Seems as if they want you to do their job. When asking question some only want to refer you to self service. If I could do it myself I wouldn’t be standing at this front desk with questions. Actually attempting to close out my account was a 2 day process and I was told everything was done and they still tried to charge me fee for the storage unit. But I received a follow up call and at least the final unnecessary fee was taken care of.

jaime C | First ImpressionsEnsure there is adequate gas in the van before renting and accurate milage from previous rental. Both things were a complete failure in satisfaction. The gas tank almost on empty and milage incorrect prior to rental time.
Daniel OThe staff was friendly and helpful however the requirement that everything be done by the customer via their phone is ridiculous. The staff person had to basically do it for me via my own because of an issue getting the OTP. Self check in should be an option, not the only way. If there was a competitor in the area, I would chose them over Uhaul because of your check in process.
Sayief LHave earlier and later hours, and make it easier to return the trucks. Trying to get a code on the phone was a disaster for me, I'm not tech literate. I returned the truck before the time required and because I wasn't able to receive a code on my phone for over 30 minutes! I was deemed late in returning the truck, when I actually returned it 30 min. early. Also, the store hours are not feasible for someone trying to get an early start. However, the staff at the location that I rented the truck from were friendly, informative, helpful, patient and I just can't say enough about them! this is my go to store from now on.
judy fMaintain and clean the cars. Don't switch the cars at the last moment for a less presentable vehicle. I got the car with less that 1/4 of gas (not good), return it 1/2 tank (not get reimbursement or a thanks). Also becareful with the odometer ( it was higher than show). Take pictures of everything.

Francis PStaff is good, could be better. Truck cabin was clean, but cargo area was dirty and smelled like horse manure. It seems the last customer was transporting that and did not clean it afterwards.

CARLOS WCounter under-staffed, had to wait 10 minutes to buy boxes. Was unable to help with mobile check-in. Mobile check-in complicated and lengthy and when I finally was "approved," the app gave me incorrect directions. It sent me to a van down the street, where I left my stuff by tie side of the van, then back to the key drop. When I got to the key drop, there was no key. The attendant told me to click that I had "received the keys" and then made me wait for another van. When I returned, the attendant told me to do it myself through the app. I had to take so many pictures that my phone died --- the van had no phone charging capabilities at all and there was nowhere else to charge it. Overall, really poor and subpar experience and there are many other van rental options, I will not use UHaul again.

Jose RI had difficulty with the gas gauge. It seemed lower than indicated. I failed to take a picture of it. I traveled less than 20 miles, put in four gallons of gas and they say I didn’t put enough gas. Also the odometer wax in miles originally than converted to kilometers and I couldn’t change it back.

Kenneth B | Overall Experience1. I was shown wrong door to unload my stuff (which I have a proof before getting the truck), I hit the truck. I had to pay extra even though I had an insurance. Owner of the truck (Elbert) told me this happened multiple time and staff is showing wrong door. (which you can see on the notes of owner of the truck). Then I complained. Customer service told me that I paid less?? and they are doing me a favor?? and skipping the payment, but if I complain further they will recharge me the extra. I feel like I was threatened and my complaint was ignored. I did not expect this move from such a big company. So I wouldn't recommend or use u-Haul services again.

The biggest issue here is the lack of communication and the manager is not very customer friendly. There were times I would be calling and emailing with no response, the only way to get anything resolved is to actually go in. I had an issues and called, left VM, left emails and even called customer service with no return calls. I would get a reply if I emailed an a specific employee on staff but never when I reached out the the manager. When you go in stores, the employees tell you that they are ignoring the phone calls on purpose because it is too busy.

So my locks that I had wasn't suitable nor acceptable, but that's ok. At least I was able to rent out a van, load and unload all on 1 day. UHAUL should have a closing announcement for all customers to hear which it does not !! take note make an announcement to notify people what is going on!!!
Sharon R | Overall ExperienceWhile the facility is very clean and well run NYC rodents are still a problem. I only saw one during a visit, there are many visible traps around. I can honestly state that my belongings (stored for six months) were not at all effected by them. And, I checked to make sure. The facility does make sure that you are not leaving garbage or storing food or other inappropriate materials. It was very easy to get in/out with my SUV and their rental trucks. The access hours worked great for me (5am to 10pm). I would definitely use them again.

Im sure as a business you want to make as much money as you can however the cost of people loosing precious memories. As I have lost after two years of paying for my unit I couldn't keep my. Payments and had to donate all of my belongings Im sure im not the only one that has lost I did try to change that date via emails or calls that was a shame did not get answer and the only solution I was given was to pay two months in advance this was a hardship for my budget as a paying customer allowances should be made for long term renters. James P | Overall ExperienceMy issue isn't with the facility or the people who manage it but with the overall business model as a whole. I reached out last year saying raising prices during a global pandemic (even if it was a scheduled increase) was predatory and someone with real power should do something about this. I said I didn't need to speak to anyone about this at my facility because no one there has any power to change prices and procedures handed down from corporate. I STILL received a phone call from my storage facilities manager which quickly devolved into him insulting me and saying "they don't set prices"; I already knew that. I was shuffled to the side and insulted by someone I almost specifically asked not to speak to. I've given your company a lot of money over the years during the most trying times in my life without complaint. I will never give you another because of this and will discourage ANYONE who asks me from doing any business with you in the future.

The spaces are smaller than most assume, so I would recommend checking out the units prior to fully committing to a locker. I go to pick up the truck and they tell me they have no more trucks available so they give me a fan. Okay, fine, fair enough, not a big deal. Then I go to the storage unit and while I'm at the desk, the employee refuses to honor the free month of storage with a vehicle rental. I told her that I called them earlier to confirm that they'll honor the free month and they said YES over the phone and hung up on me. I get there and she tells me that they won't honor it, nor is the promotion valid for their location. I then ask why does it say it is available on their website? Crickets.... I wish i didn't cancel my reservation with Public Storage and went with them.

But was unhappy by the amout of mouse and rat droppings in my storage unit. With all my stuff in it and kids items alot had to be thrown out because of mouse/rat droppings. We use to have a second floor unit but once me moved to a ground floor unit rat/mouse droppings problem. Overall if it were not for the mouse/rat droppings U-Haul storage great company great customer service prices not too bad.
