I want to ask for a partial refund. When I called to book I said they always end up placing me on your daily rate of $89.95 with the 150 kilometres. This is the best arrangement given the number of kilometres I drive. This price was confirmed during my phone booking. After I returned the vehicle I noticed that I had been charged an extra $20. I called your representative at the Kingston road location. He told me rates had increased a week prior. Since at the time of booking I was quoted the old price I thought I would ask about a rebate. My trailer was not cleaned thoroughly. The bed had gravel/stone/sand left over from the previous customer. I was unaware of this and did not have the means to clean it up prior to picking up my load. Parts of my load were scratched because of the dirty floor / bed. Otherwise a great location, spacious yard (lots of room to maneuver a trailer), and helpful staff.GILLYBERT E.

- Originally I booked a 26â€ truck, this booking was confirmed, then after couple of days I got a call that my truck will be 20â€. This change made me make two rounds instead of one and pay around $75 extra miles and Gas. - I rented a big appliances dolly, and after moving discovered that I got a normal boxes dolly. - The cabinet locker key wasn't opening and I had to call the help desk and keep the dolly in the driver cabinet, which wasn't the best location for it.AHMEDABDELMAGEED T.

Needed to pick up in Scarborough and drop off in Brampton, booked truck 3 weeks ahead of time. The day before the move, we're told we need to drop off in Scarborough and given a discount. Returned 8PM same day to drop off truckâ€”slot to accept keys doesn't even open. 17 OTHER PEOPLE are on the lot, all frustrated & unable to return their keys, many on hold with UHaul customer service. When I rented the cargo van , the location charged my credit card based on the estimated distance and rental time. When I returned the van the same day, I was charged the full rental cost based upon actual distance travelled....so, at the time I was charged twice for the same rental. The agent told me the original would be reversed/refunded within a day. it is now 9 days later and the original charge has not been reversed. I am now having to chase uhaul to do their job correctly.Ian S.
The 26' truck we rented had a major oil leak. For only having 160000 miles on it, we expected it to be better maintained. We had to return the truck after one round trip because the check engine light lit up and would not go out even after putting two litres of oil into it. Upon returning it, we received as a replacement a 20' truck, with no reduction in price. We had rented the truck for 5 days, from the 18th to the 23rd, and returned the 26' truck on the 20th for replacement, and returned the 20' truck on the 21st, after finishing our move. Despite this being 2 days early, we were not given a discount or refund, and were actually charged kilometres and gas of $89. No discount or refund for the inconvenience and stress of having to baby a 26' truck 200 km back to Toronto. Now, we are pretty sure the 20' truck was probably rented back out on the days when we paid for it, so why would we not receive a partial refund? So, in general, not really happy with my experience.KEVIN L.

Overall crappy experience. Multiple phone calls over multiple days changing truck size and pick up locations. Multiple phone calls disturbing me while at work. When I arrived at location to pick up the truck, equipment wasn't there and store was closed. Had to drive to another location to rent truck. Because I was given a smaller truck than I had reserved WEEKS ahead of time, I couldn't move everything I needed to as we ran out of time and couldn't make 2 trips. Extremely dissatisfied with the entire experience. Was promised a $50 equipment guarantee, we'll see if they honour that or not, but as a regular U-Haul customer, I think it may be time to find another rental agency that is more organizedJAMES PATRICK I.

The back of the vehicle had drywall debris in it when I picked up the vehicle. One of the employees apologized and cleaned it out with a mop before I left. After driving for a while, I noticed the smell of cigarette smoke and a film on the inside of the windshield and side glass. Then I noticed the ashtray was dirty with cigarette butts. When I returned the vehicle, I mentioned this to the employee that was doing the inspection, and he apologized. He also said he did not even know there was an ashtray in the vehicle. No offer of compensation was given. The vehicle also did not have a back up alarm which I had assumed was standard on any moving van. I was told that this is not the case, and I should have honked the horn a few times before reversing. The vehicle did what I needed it to do, which was move my daughter into her new place. The vehicle was ready on time as scheduled, which was the most important part of this rental.James B.
I ordered a 6x12 cargo trailer online with it saying there was stock. One hour before I go to pick up they changed it from a 6x12 to a 5x8. Which was too small, I should not have been able to rent a 6x12 if there was none available.Gerald M.

I have great regard for this Uhaul location. I was NOT happy with the online booking though. It continually sent me to wrong address for pick up. Horrible experience. I requested to pick up at 320 queen, gor a confirmation, and when I arrived they just told me on the spot I got assigned to another location which is 35km away...And ignored me after. So I waited for 30mins, and had to uber 40mins to another location, drove the truck back , and returned the truck to that location after, which cost me time, $, sTSUNTING L.

The agent did not confirm the truck size during check-in and simply bumped up to 26' which is difficult to maneuver. This was realized only when approaching the truck and on requesting the agent to provide a 20' truck as per original booking he simply denied with a rude grin saying there is no availability. I was a bit let down at first that my location changed, but once I arrived it was a pleasant experience. I forget the persons name that was working that morning, but he was fantastic and made everything very efficient and easy. Even through it was a really busy moving day, he took time to check us in and walk us to the vehicle and answer any questions. Highly recommend U-Haul and this location in particular. NOTE: I did run into an issue with the online checkin portal when I was asked for 2 additional contacts, business name, etc. I figured I would use myself as a contact since my dad is the primary driver, which of course threw an error because my name is already on the agreement. Unfortunately, I could not get around this and started to panic a bit... but then I went inside and got everything sorted as mentioned above.Ryan D.
15 mins after driving the uhaul truck, there was crashing sound that came from underneith the truck. We lost control of the steering wheel and brakes. The dashboard lights went off and the battery light came on. Thankfully we were close to a side street where we could pull off. Road side assistance sent a mechanic who determine the steering belt had completely snapped off and the belt tensioner was also broken. It look 3 hours for the mechanic to find new parts and fix the truck. We were left sitting on the side of the road until this was complete. Not only was this a huge waste of time, and delayed parts of our move that cause alot of stress, but more importantly, we could have been KILLED. Has we been on a highway when the belt broke, I except we could have been in an extremely dangerous situation. It was extremely negligent to rent us this truck. I will never use uhaul again and would encourage whoever is reading this to find a different truck rental.Matthew L.

We were running behind schedule but made it before the location closed. We had a storage unit reservation and after the reservation paperwork and credit card information was completed, the staff member went to clear the lineup that accrued and forgot about us. We waited almost 40 minutes until I finally had to go explain to someone that we were still waiting to get access to our storage unit to unload our personal belongings. It was a long and stressful day due to truck issues and the fact we travelled 4 hours to get this move complete and the extra time spent standing around wasn't well received.DANIEL N.

From the very start I had major issues, a very unfriendly girl at the front desk set up my account. It took her 45 mins to get everything correct, however even after this I found my 4 digit entry pin was 5 digits and was a generic 12345! She obviously couldn’t be bothered to set up a paid for service on the system. I came back the following day to have this looked into by two other employees, it took 9 hours to solve the simple problem and get me after hours access. The main entrance to the storage units were a health and safety violation on a daily basis, to the extent of having to physically move large heavy fed ex boxes out of the way every time I needed access to my unit. This location (for a storage facility) clearly has zero storage for the 10s & 10s of toe bars and heavy boxes that are delivered multiple times per day. They are constantly blocking the fire exits and main walkway to all units. This is clearly in breach of all fire/health and safety codes. For a customer to have to move heavy boxes and toe bars out of harms way to gain access is ridiculous. My unit itself was ok but had zero lighting within, not even the hallway lighting could come in overtop as the walls were to the celling. I purchased my own lock from a local store because the lady that set up the account didn’t state any difference, only to find weeks later I had to purchase a U hall lock because mine wasn’t “fit for purpose” All in all my experience at the location is a 0 out of 5 I wouldn’t recommend to anyone and I’d appreciate some kind of compensation towards my overpriced rental. On a more positive note there were a couple of staff members who were polite and expressed their apologies for the inconvenience of the mess. They also mentioned that the first girl I dealt with was let go. The entrance blocking and lighting both need to be urgently rectified for obvious health and safety concerns. I noticed multiple cameras within the storage entrance so any administrator should be able to monitor this on a daily basis.Damian S. | Overall Experience
