I have two experiences with this location. First is the storage rental and second is dropping off a one way rental from Alaska to here. Prior to relocating to New Orleans I came to this location to store personal items I had in Tennessee. I used UHaul.com to rent a trailer that I would pick up in Alaska and also a storage unit from the Tulane Ave action in New Orleans. The storage unit included a free month with a qualifying one way rental-the 6x12 trailer I rented. When I get to the location to store my items from Tennessee the person at the counter tells me I need to pay for storage unit even after I explain the promotional offer. I relented and said I would call UHaul corporate and sort it out later. One month later, after having picked up and paid for the one way rental trailer, I was charged for another month of storage. After dropping off my trailer at this location I had to speak with 3 people, two from corporate customer service and one from the Tulane Ave location before I was offered a refund for one of the months I was charged for the storage unit. Regarding returning the trailer to this location: My experience has been frustrating. I picked up the trailer in Alaska and had 12 days to drive from there to Nee Orleans, which I did. Yet when I get to the Tulane avenue location I was charged an extra day because I dropped it off late. I dropped it off at 2:31pm and it was supposedly due back by 11:15am. I asked the receiving employee to not be charged for the extra day and was refused. I accepted this at first but then realized that due to differences in time zones I was really only 16 minutes late as 2:31 central time is 11:32 Alaska standard time. I picked up the rental trailer at 11:13 Alaska time. I decided to call UHaul where I spoke with a customer service representative and then someone from there escalation department who says they left a voicemail with the regional UHaul manager regarding this issue (and the storage unit). I was told the Tulane Ave location would call Me as they were the ones able to refund the money for the extra day. When I spoke to the person at the drop off location about refunding the extra day I was told that the dispatching site in Alaska was responsible for refunding the charge and that time zones do not make a difference in the times. If I picked up at 11:15 in Alaska then I had to drop off at 11:15 in New Orleans. I was also told that UHaul builds in extra time for the rental to ensure the renter has ample time to get from point A to point B. In my case it was 12 days. There a couple of problems with this. If I am told I get 12 days then it should be 12, 24 hour days. If time zones are disregarded then I wasn't given 12 full days. I was given 11 days and 21 hours to get from A to B. Most of the time this is okay, but there are variables when you are moving from a landlocked place like Juneau, Alaska. The most significant is determining which ferry to use and what route to drive. The ferry you choose determines where you drive from. Moreover, some ferry drop you off further north in Alaska, halfway down British Columbia, Canada or in Bellingham, WA. A ferry ride may be a few hours to overnight to several nights. The ferry I used went to Price Rupert British Columbia. We left Juneau at 6:15 pm Sunday and arrived 10:45pm Monday and couldn't start driving until the next morning. The. We set out on our journey that was greater than 3500 miles. The last two legs of this drive were 1000 miles and over 800 miles, respectively, with less than 8 hours in a hotel in between. We arrived in New Orleans at 4 am and had the trailer returned to UHaul in less than 12 hours. I get it I was technically late per UHaul contract verbage. Yet, I don't feel like it's great customer service. It to mention that the Tulane Ave manager contradicted what two corporate UHaul customer service reps told me regarding who is responding or reimbursement. I even took their advice and called the dispatch site in Juneau who also said it was the drop off site's responsibility and gave me her regional area manager's phone number. I called. No answer and no ability to leave a voicemailâ€¦David M.

The key did not work for the drivers side door. The staff said I could just get in the passenger side.... When I arrived to drop the vehicle off, the attendant told me I was good and I'd receive an email. I never did. So 3 hours later I called the location. I was placed on hold for 20 minutes. I hung up and called again. The customer service lady told me that they never checked me in when I got there hours before, had given the attendant my key. She Asked what time I dropped off. I was then placed on hold for another 10 minutes. Finally they picked up and said I should get an email now. I don't know who has 30 minutes to waist on hold because people completely neglected to do their jobs, but I was quite aggravated. I was looking forward to making this review. Let me preface, I am a bartender at a restaurant and value good reviews and rely on them for my livelihood. The customer service here was some of the worst I have ever encountered. The staff was not specific with any directions and not helpful with any of my questions. At 7am, it seemed like they could care less and I was bothering them to do their job. My gas tank was 3/4 full and the gas cap was loose. When I returned to the location to pick up my tow dolly and car, I explained this to the staff. They exclaimed â€œdid you do the walk around like I told you to?! Do you have a picture?!â€ I shook my head and just walked away. I had no patience for that ignorance and poor service before a 10 hour drive/move. The New Orleans location on Tulane is trash and I will never use Uhaul again because of them.Kyle K.

I returned the truck that I agreed to pay 29.95 for with the exact amount of gas that I left with. I offered to stay with the man that was checking in the trucks and he assured me it was ok for me to leave. I wanted to go through everything with him but he insisted. I received a receipt for the rental and my card was charged $98 for fuel. THIS IS UNFAIR! $60 more dollars than I agreed to and the fuel was at the exact level. I was ripped off and I'm going to take this above everyone's head if I don't get refunded. The screw up from the first place pushed the day back an hour and a half, then the 2nd place changed my drop off from the St Claude address to the Tulane address. Then customer service told me I would have to wait to speak with someone if I wanted to change it back. At that point I dropped it off at Tulane ave (again, not the address I requested) and by the time I got there, it was closed. The next day was charged a $20 fee. Worst customer service ever.doug K.

Horrible! They lost the key to my rental so I was told they couldn't honor my booking. I was then given a bigger vehicle that I didn't need and used more fuel. The service was the worst I've ever had in my life. The agent was sitting down, cursing, smoking a vape, and speaking very derogatory against the staff and customers in front of everyone. Complaining about how she hates this place and will be quitting- again this has nothing to do with me or my reservation. Upon returning I had to go back into the store 3 times because no one was around for the mobile drop off. I have already advised everyone to NEVER use this location. When I pre-ordered the rental I selected the size and equipment I needed. I even took a screenshot of my order. When I arrived, the order on file had equipment I didn't need tacked on and not the one thing I did need. The one associate working was having a personal conversation with a guy and it wasn't until a line formed that she says â€œwell there's a line so I have to goâ€. I obviously thought he was a customer, he wasn't. Associate was disinterested and disengaging. I was given a key and no direction on where I could find my rental or equipment. Problem 1: They didn't have the equipment I reserved. After having to find an employee outside, I was informed they didn't have any. Went back inside to get the quote fixed and waited in line again. Problem 2: Upon finding vehicle, the driver side mirror was completely knocked off and sitting in the passenger seat completely shattered. Vehicle was a mess and appeared to have been hit. I went back inside and said I wasn't using that vehicle. Waited in line again and got a new quote. Problem 3: The second vehicle given to me was blocked behind a line of trucks and a giant curb and completely inaccessible. I went back inside a 3rd time to get this resolved. Associate was not empathetic and took her time before helping me. She ended up going outside to find a truck that was accessible but ended up wondering around and asking a coworker to just ramp the vehicle over the curb. A few moments later the vehicle crashes over the curb and sidewalk and pulls around into the parking lot. The sound and act of the vehicle going over the curb probably doesn't meet company standards. While the pictures matched for the walk aroundâ€¦..(another customer advised me about the walk around text as again the associate was not helpful) â€¦.the windshield appeared to have had a couple rocks stuck under the wipers because there were two streaks ingrained in the glass across the windshield in a perfect arch. After 50 minutes, 2 vehicles, no equipment that I pre-ordered, 3 contract corrections and an employee who was in no way empathetic or respectful of time, I was finally able to leave. Truck condition was average. However, I drove it for 9 miles and refilled the tank with 1.7 gallons gas, which means that unless the truck gets less than 5mpg (website claims up to 10), truck had at least as much gas as upon rental. Nevertheless, location tried to charge me for 2 gallons of gas. This is fraud, either because the truck actually gets 2mpg as opposed to the website claim, or because I was charged for what I had already done. I had to call and then go back to the location to argue with the representative, who then refused to go outside and simply look at the gas gauge. Luckily, I had my receipt for purchased gas. No one walked around the vehicle with us to show us how to operate it. Asked a few people and they redirected us to someone else. We also sat around in the lobby for 10 minutes before someone asked to help us.gavin M.
You had one person working inside for about 20 minutes and finally someone came in. We were supposed to be able to check out the vehicle at 9 but didn't get checked out till 1015. Also they had a long line of people waiting in the sky walked up to the counter and started talking to the second woman who came in to work and basically cut in line when she could've just said sir you need to get in line and wait like everyone else. Last, I was supposed to have the truck from nine till five but she only let us have it till three. The general Manger of this location is rude, they charged me for fuel when the receipt has the same 1/8 gas as the pickup receipt. I explained to him that I'm a regular and never had issue from this location before and that we won't be using this location as our drop off location any longer. We rental one way to deliver supplies to contractors every month with no issues until today. The representative which helped me was very professional, patient, helpful and pleasant! JoJo Now on the other hand when arriving at the truck the inside was wet, someone left the window down and it was raining! Also it definitely was not cleaned, there were ashes in the cup holder, a tin Diet Coke can with the bottom cut out with drug paraphernalia in it! Horrible which means the truck was not cleaned or sanitized! I asked the gentleman he came with a towel and I express to him you may want to get gloves because of the tin can either the drug paraphernalia in it! He went for another towel picked it up and discard it and came back with a mop to get the water up from it raining in the passenger side window! Also I asked can I leave my car parked in the spot, one guy said no but never said where to park! I moved my car to another spot and another guy said you can't park there, so I asked where can I park, he replied by the storage but across the street. I moved my car for the 3rd time across the street from the storage and another gentleman said â€œOh you can't park there!â€ At this point I'm pissed off 😡 because I'm wasting my time for the rental trying to find somewhere to park! I said well, where the hell am I suppose to park?! If I can't park in the last 4 spots I've pulled into? He said you can park by the storage but don't be gone to long because your car will get towed! I would never, ever rent another truck from this location due to The GENTLEMAN who worked there with the attitudes and being unprofessional ! The lady in at the desk I commented her and appreciate her! When I returned the truck I specifically expressed to the gentleman I was paying the total with another card and the lady stated I'm putting this in the alert so they would know your not paying with the card on file. When he came in from checking the truck he said here's your receipt I said how can you generate a receipt when you haven't asked for the method of payment? He said oh when I put the mileage in it automatically closed the ticket. I asked him what was the purpose of me setting up another method of payment if you did what you wanted to do? I used the 24/7 system. When I logged in I was allocated a particular truck. At the same time ,inside the u haul center that same truck was given to someone else. When I told a u-haul worker they told me the other person had the key so he gets the truck, that I had to go inside to get another truck. I went inside and there were four people on line. I had to wait half an hour to be heard. I had movers waiting for me who I had to pay starting at 8 am. I had arrived at U-haul at 7:10 am to pick up a truck I needed at 7:30 and did not leave until after 8 am through no fault of m y own. This system does not work and until this flaw is corrected, 24/7 should be shut down. The staff told me this happens all the time. This is no way to run a rental truck business. Very dissatisfied. I arrived at the store and was told there were no vehicles available. I went to the parking lot and reserved a vehicle. I believe a vehicle was available and the agent was getting off and was ready to leave so she said there were no vehicles available. I rented a storage unit too. Reserved a 4 bedroom storage or 4 room storage and when I went to put the furniture in the storage unit was a closet. I talked to the manager Brandon Pierre and he was very rude and said that’s all they had available. I stood talking with the associate before he even came out the office and his office is literally one step away. We went back and forward about the storage not being a 4 bedroom unit. He said the person that helped was working from home and didn’t know what sizes the storage units are, I told they should have knowledge of anything they are selling from uhaul. Brandon gave me a refund on the storage but I feel I should get a refund for the truck that I used and loaded for nothing. Tulane Ave. UHaul is very unprofessional and unorganized. When changing over ownership about a year and a half ago, within 10 minutes someone backed a U-haul truck into my car and caved in the driver door. The reception was unhelpful and said they could not check security cameras and I was given a contact number to call. No one answered this number or responded to my voicemails. I assume that it was the business that backed the truck into my car, it cost me a $500 deductible. I would in no way shape or form recommend such a business to anyone.michael f. | First Impressions

Moved out of storage unit. Told store desk employee and followed their instruction. I was getting emails about my stuff being there and my payment was late. I called and told them I moved out. I got emails about stuff going up to auction. I called and told them I moved out. I left a few things because I could not get them. I told desk employee. I even asked if they had somewhere I should throw the few things I had left. I have asked multiple times to speak with manager. Waited on phone for hours multiple times for almost a year. Was told he would return my call ever time after being placed on hold for unrealistic amounts of time. Was told he was hooking up trailer, filling up propane, checking truck, over in storage. None of these things should take almost two hours. He has never returned my phone calls. My account was sent to collections for over $1400. I am so disappointed and disgusted with the staff at this facility. I did everything I could to get this matter straightened out. The employee instructed me wrong. Had I known this would happen of course I would have done it differently. The manager avoids his duty to speak with customers and discuss important matters. I would not recommend this facility at all nor any Uhaul facility if I can not get this off my credit history. I should not have to pay for a storage unit I moved out of. I can not drive four hours to speak to a manager face to face. I am now going to reach out to headquarters on the matter.Mary B. | Overall Experience
