I went to U-Haul yesterday. I was assigned unit D166 which did not close completely when locked. I called the Ayer phone number which bounced to an off-site operator who said she would send a message to Ayer. I wound up going back to the office and getting assigned a new unit which worked fine. I was using the uhaul app for pick-up and continued to have issues taking pictures of the fuel gauge and mileage. The fuel gauge was 3/4 full. The agent told he would note the 3/4 tank for return to the Ayer location. However the Ayer agent informed me it should be full upon return not 3/4. I was charged $40.85 for the difference. I called to dispute the the $40.85 and the customer service agent told me she needed proof from a cell phone pic which i did not have since the app was useless. She informed me the truck had 7/8 tank so i would receive a $20 credit. So it cost me $20.85 because the agent mislead me and the app malfunctioned.PAUL L.

The only "issue" was in doing the online check in for the van at the end of the night. The location services were not working and I was charged a $20 fee. I emailed the location to have this removed but have not heard back. Please reconsider your after hours check in process - it's absurd for cellular "location services" to have to identify you location. If people can't figure out if they're returning their can to the right location, they have bigger problems.Amanda D.

Arthur Dulong was a life saver! On Thursday, we were mid-move using Pods and ran out of room, and needed to close on our house sale Friday. Friday morning, Arthur found us three 5x10 storage units and a 10ft box truck to allow us to empty the house in time. I called U Haul and spoke with a customer representative. He made me a reservation for 6pm at U Haul in Ayer Ma, and he told me I could show up as much as an hour late and still get my reservation. We showed up at 6pm (we were not late) and the U Haul shop was closed and we were not able to pick up our U-Haul. We had to cancel our plans to pick up a new dresser, it was stressful and a waste of time and energy. I'm not sure why the U-Haul representative would make me an appointment when the store was scheduled to close, and then go so far as to tell me I could even show up lateâ€¦ I would like a $50 refund because U-haul was not able to keep my reservation. Your app for phone pick-ups is terrible. Twice now I have relied on the app to pick up a van before the store is open and your app wouldn't connect. I sat on the phone for 30 minutes each time waiting to speak with a rep. And then yesterday to only be hung up on by the rep because he couldn't handle speaking to an upset customer. Before he hung up he mentioned a $50 credit. You can keep that $50 and put it towards making the app actually work. I reserved a 26-foot truck with a scheduled 10 am pick up at the Harvard st Leominster location, only to get there and be informed I had to go to the Northboro location to pick up the truck. I drive to pick up the truck in Northboro at which time I was told they didn't have a truck for me, reporting "The truck broke down, actually it blew up and is not available." Not believable at all. Anyhow the manager was very responsive, showing a great sense of empathy, and attempted to get me a smaller truck. She stated a smaller size truck would be available to pick up at 1 pm at her location. With movers scheduled and waiting I agreed to pick up that truck at 1 pm. I returned to the Harvard st location where my storage facility is located and my movers were waiting as well. I stopped in the store to speak with the two employees that have always been supportive, welcoming, and very customer-focused. I informed them of my poor experience, and they responded quickly looking up possible opportunities in getting me the 26-foot truck. They located one at the Ayer location for a 2:30 pm pick-up and reserved the truck for me. Arriving to Ayer very frustrated, annoyed, disappointed, and pissed off, the manager was welcoming, attentive to my situation, and provided the utmost customer service, assuring the prior renter returned the truck on time and got me on my way for my move and movers who I had paid based on the 4 plus hours of delay. Please thank the manager tremendously at the Ayer and Harvard street locations for the exceptional customer service they demonstrated in representing U-Haul and their hearts displaying compassion and drive to overcome obstacles and meet customer's needs. I booked the unit online. When I arrived, I used the access code to enter the facility but when I arrived at the unit, there was already a lock on the unit that I was supposed to be renting. Because I was moving in after hours there was no on to contact to remedy the situation. I therefore had to rent a unit at another facility farther away, incurring additional mileage charges for the truck I was renting.
