I had to wait over an hour and a half in line to pick up the truck I had reserved and had already checked in myself online. Then there were no blankets after I had reserved them (I had to drive extra miles to family and friends homes to find blankets... had I known prior to pickup there were no blankets then I would have already had them). That Uhaul location caused me about a 3 hour delay in my move, with the wait time AND having to locate blankets. ALSO: at time of pickup, I discovered after I was about a mile down the road from the pickup location, the truck gas tank was on empty, however I was being required to return the truck on half full?? That's just not right. Due to the lengthy "wait" I already had at the uhaul, I didn't turn around to go back for uhaul to put gas in it. I put gas in it myself. Uhaul owes me a half tank of gas (I have a picture of the starting mileage and the tank showing "empty"), and I returned the truck on half a tank of gas as was required in the contract. Also: The truck rental was supposed to be for two days, as I was moving from Charlotte to Columbia SC, but they only had me down for 1 day. Normally when I have two days, I'm allowed 119 miles, but for some reason this time only 99 miles was allowed. Again, that's just not right. Uhaul dropped the ball this timeâ€¦ really bad. Lastly: The pickup location was very unorganized. They had plenty of staff there (at least 5 or 6 staff members) but at any given time there was only one person helping the long line of waiting customers. I have used Uhaul at least 8 or 9 times over the past 6 months, all with good experience except this time. This pick up location is THE WORST!! Never again at that location!John S.
We did not realize upon pickup that the rear cargo door was open with the door latch very firmly jammed against the top opening of the truck. This delayed our departure after loading the truck and required thirty minutes of forced prying and a cut to my hand to get the door of the truck closed. It was also extremely irritating that the truck was delivered with only a 1/4 tank of gas. The staff could not advise on anticipated gas milage, so I had to immediately stop for gas with no guidance on how much anticipated gas I would need in order to return the truck with the proper fuel reading. I pre-ordered furniture blankets, but the last available blankets were sold to the customer in front of me - so no blankets. Staff was out of paper and unable to produce hard copy contracts or receipts. This was my first and will be my last experience using UHaul. Thank you.Michael B.

The online check-in and app experience good have been better. I waited 15 minutes for them to authorize me to rent the car, then when I checked it back the app kept reverting back to the odometer and gas screen to upload a picture. I uploaded a picture each time, but when it took me back there a seventh time, I gave up and walked away. That was a frustrating experience for sure.ROBERT A.

Reserved the truck online and to use phone when arriving. The truck was not anywhere to be found. Had to go inside and work through reservations. All components on my end worked fine through the phone but Uhaul's requirements feel apart. Truck was dirty inside - looked like someone hosed off the inside of the front windshield. It was great. The only problem was the rented me a 10 × 15 but because it wasn't clean they gave me a bigger one. They manager said same price but I was charged for larger one. There was a woman helping two customers at once and she was KILLING IT. I don't remember her name but she was working on 7/6 around 8:45 am and she's fantastic. Everyone that works at this location is friendly and helpful. My issue is with the corporate customer service. I use Uhaul regularly for work and we regularly have issues with contacting the company/issues on the website. The individual Uhaul locations are usually great but it's nearly impossible to get a simple question answered if you call. This isn't a reflection on any store but on corporate Uhaul. It's beyond frustrating to be on hold for 20+ minutes when we have questions that could be quickly answered by someone in the store where we received the truck or literally any store. It's the worst customer service. Every time I call a store we're redirected to what I'm assuming is a customer service staff where we have to wait for an incredibly long time. It feels like the company doesn't actually support its customers. It would be great if there was another line for customers who currently have a truck out and may not need roadside assistance but do need to speak with someone urgently.Kaitlynn W.

The man who walked out to help us check in was clearly high (or has a mental disability, if that's the case I apologize for suspecting drugs). I was ready to check in on mobile, I knew from my check out experience the day before that your system doesn't like to switch between in-person/mobile but when we pulled in the young man came out and said we were ok to leave that was it. I told him I had a link on my phone, shall I disregard it then? And he pressed the link for me to "see what happens". I had to do the mobile check in myself with a uhaul employee standing next to me. And I had no option to switch out. And I never received an email with a receipt or a confirmation text that all was well and I was in the clear. Your mobile system is not enough for me to feel safe when checking out an expensive rental truck eith deadline that could cost me money if they aren't accurate. Your employee at this location was bad. The parking situation was bad. I hope I never move again but if I do it won't be with a uhaul. I used a uhaul in 2016 to move and it wasn't as bad, I checked in on mobile by myself but I was legitimately alone on the lot and it was after hours so it made sense. There should be an override button to switch to in person and there should be immediate confirmation texts.Jaim A.

I would of said excellent but there is a young girl that works there, that is not professional at all, she didn’t want to move the truck that was blocking our storage and my husband is trying to tell her we have a truck full of stuff and we need the space. So I went to the office nobody was there but then that girl came and gave me attitude, I lost it and told her off on that girl. it looks like the manager went and help out and fix the problem with this nasty young girl issues. I got stuck inside of the facility after moving in not being able to open any gates to get out receiving “access denied” message. It was only 7:15 pm but the facility access hours are 5am - 10pm. Tried to call the facility manager but it went straight to the voice mail box that was full. Luckily, I noticed other customers retuning their truck after hours and I asked them to try swiping my card at the terminal outside of the main gate. This complaint has to donwith a previous conversation I had with Charles regarding returning the 26' truck at time when charlotte is experiencing a gas shortage As I had mentioned to Charles the customer cannot/should not be held liable for for the crisis while no gas stations are open and the ones that are, you have to find them, meaning 10-30miles from your drop-off destination point. In a short summization I was charged $4.00 gallon from quarter to half tank marker in addition to 30miles on top of what had wouldn't have to pay had the customer be help liable for uncontrollably circunstatces during this gas crisis. I can't express my disappointment of my final receipt if $117.00 less a service fee all customers are having to pay, while still the profit of U Haul a multi-billion company is only being deposited at this time of crisis to there bank account ...... I kept this unit for approx 5 years. It had been broken into twice. First time all of my brothers vinyl records were stolen approx 4,000 that he collected from the time he was very young and passed away at the young age of 59. I got one month of free rent. Because I didn't have a catalog of what was in the collection I couldn't claim on my home owners insurance. Even more important is I can never replace them. The customer service and energy is awesome there. I like how it’s culturally diverse and how gender doesn’t play a role in the level of respect and responsibility that’s needed to support customers after all those trucks are big and equipment is heavy but each employee surpassed my expectations with a smile even when I needed assistance outside of normal duties they rose to the challenge. I’m so excited to see how they may grow into management or ownership one day. Only advice is when lines gets long there should be an outside waiting area or better way to organize customers who need to park temporarily or for the time of their rental for extended parking. So maybe a text system to say who is next because coming off that hill swinging into a full line of trucks is not the safe way to go because your employees are struggling to move trucks cars and that energy can be used to help customers not be traffic control. My experience with my storage unit can only be rated as below average. I've never had a bad experience with Uhaul but this new experience makes me change my opinion because I had damages. I made my payments on time for the duration of the time I needed the storage facilities. But the day I moved my furniture out of both of my units. I noticed alot of my furniture was molded and some were completely ruined. And of course the insurance coverage I paid for each of my units doesn't cover that form of damage.
