We arrived to the storage around 7pm. We haven’t got information that we need an assistance to get the storage. Gladly the man there wasn’t gone yet and kindly helped us despite his work hours were done. Anyhow, when we got to our storage - it was oh a second floor. The elevator didn’t work… so we had to carry containing of 10’ car in hands… and pushing in between many doors inside. CRAZY! Back of my husband said good bye after that. In addition, we have got some extra charges. We paid in full when we picked up the car but around 20$ more were applied I don’t know for what ?! We used U-HAUL for the very first time. Not sure if we will take it again. Unclear prices, back ache … only thanks to the worker who didn’t left us alone.

I booked a reservation online for a 15” truck with a furniture dolly and furniture covers, which are both $10 extra. When I arrived, I was informed that there were no more furniture dollys available, even though it said they were available when I booked online, so that was deducted from the price. Then they forgot to give me my furniture covers that I really needed. I ended up having to talk to customer service twice just to get a refund. Overall, very unsatisfied with my experience with UHaul.

pete kGood morning. I used your car last week. I booked a car 2 days in advance for 6:30 am. When I arrived I couldn't pick up the car because the keys weren't in the key box. On the phone they told me that I had to wait until the office opens. In the office they told me that I made the reservation late so they didn't have time to put the key in the box. Even though I made the reservation 2 days in advance. I had an appointment so I was half an hour late and when I arrived I found out that I still had to remove the blankets that were left before me.
IVAN AWhen a specific item is requested and reserved it should be available when you go to pick it up. We really needed the furniture dolly, but we were unable to get it despite having it on a reservation.

Paid the fee to have the balance of material that I left, disposed of, and I was billed $175 each month in February, March & April. I asked the gentleman / manager @ the Ballantyne Facility could be refunded or reversed and he shared they could not. Very disappointing!! Since we maintained the unit for many years. Other than the displeasure of the way the service agreement ended, everything else was wonderful. Thank you for your wonderful service, support & communication for so many years!!

JASON MI haven’t received updated invoice, it’s been more than 3 days we dropped the vehicle, rented for a day and drove less than 12 miles. I was charged $74 and was not explained clearly the charges applicable.

Including Penske, Home Depot, Lowe’s, even other uhauls!! This TEAM is always professional, competent and pleasant—they set the standard for employees at any kind of customer-facing business (I’m a former company owner). I’d like to know the HR or Area Manager SECRET to hiring employees like this!! Maybe these folks should train the corporate acct people for setting up new business Accts ? I never even got an acknowledgment of any kind after leaving multiple voicemails for business storage and vehicle renting. Hard to believe these departments are at the same company. Sadly. And I don’t see turnover!

SCOTT WLocation and staff at location were fine, the below is not a reflection of the uhaul staff in pineville. Not happy with uhaul in general after this experience. Was told I would receive a call before 5pm regarding pickup. Got a call at 8 pm telling me I needed to pick up at a different location. Asked to be emailed the details regarding pickup change and was told I already had it - I did not receive any email with change info. Also, the uhaul truck was to be retuned with 3/4 tank full. When filling it appeared the gas gauge would only register below 3/4 full or full. Ended up filling a full take due to “suspicious” gauge in truck. I picked uhaul over cheaper competition due to reputation. It seems like uhaul is no longer the leader for truck rentals, will go another route next time.
RICHARD KThe Truck barely ran. It had caution lights on, it had tire pressure lights on. The inside wasn't clean. The gad tank was at 1/2 not 3/4. The guy I told said he would document and I hope he did. Dropping off the U-Haul was a mess. They had so many dropped off I could barely get my car out of the parking lot b/c of how other customers parked but they should have somone there even after hours to re-arrange trucks.

STEVEN TCheck in was no problem but when we got outside that took a decent amount of our time away from getting to where we needed to be. You have to click on the link, double check the truck for any damages, verify the license plate, upload at least 1 photo and confirm the mileage. At the bottom of the page it said I declined safe trip. I absolutely did not decline it. I had to go back inside and ask. Thank goodness there was another person standing there because now there was a line checking in. He told me safe trip and safe move are 2 different things and that you’re fine. The agent that checked us in, I’m pretty sure, called it safe trip. Those 2 different words could have saved me another trip inside. Then, the mileage that was listed on this online ‘check’ process was different than what the truck showed so we had to upload a photo of that too. After we got to where we were going we found out that the movers I hired through U-haul were going to be 2 hrs late. Although, that’s not in any way U-Haul’s fault, I had to call them back and update the original truck drop off time to a later time. I was on hold for over 10 minutes just to update the drop off time. I had to call them 2 more times after that to update it again and they picked up right away. Even though we were almost 3 hrs late dropping the truck off than the original anticipated time, we were not charged for any overages and the credit for the mileage we didn’t use was credited to my account that same evening. Overall, it all worked out in the end and if we ever need a truck again, we’ll probably be back. Hopefully there won’t be a next time but if there is, we’ll arrive a little earlier than the exact time of pick up to take care of the check in process outside.

Wednesday pick up 0800 and returned Friday 1300. Have not received my receipt, no idea what total charge is. Not confident the employee even entered the truck was returned a day early. Just overall poor communication and interaction.

When I shared this with the person at U-Haul he went out and looked on the inside of the truck and said that he saw no cracks in the top of truck, therefore he could not do anything. I was not going to stand there and make a big deal out of it, but I will not rent from U-Haul again. If I brought the truck back damaged they would want me to take care of. Sounds like double standards to me.

I paid $681.80 early on June 22nd for the units for July rent because I didn't want to be late in paying or forget as I have a lot going on with a cross country move The front desk gentleman told me he cannot issue prorated refund and to reach out to you. I have also reached out to Uhaul. My reference ID Number with Uhaul is 4846867. Evidently, I had until July 2nd, 4 days from due day of June 29th for a refund. However, my movers were not available until July 3rd, the date I moved out...2 days past cut off. I arrived today, July 4th to clean and check out and was told the $681.80 I paid on June 22nd for July rent was non refundable nor prorated. I'm asking if you could please, at least, prorate the units as $681.80 for 2 days of rent is a lot of money. Thank you.

With no way to get back to our unit, we called Uhaul customer service who promised the facility manager would contact us the next day. Never, ever heard from him. We also called the emergency number listed on the elevator which was to the facility manager— he didn’t answer and his voicemail was full. We left that night without ever getting access to our unit which was wide open all night. The next day, our friend was able to get to our unit for us by getting the office to unlock the stairs. We moved all our stuff out 2 weeks later. Poorly managed facility and poor complaints program.

But U-Haul has to do better with schedule and reserving units one per customer and not double booking.

On saturday i hored two guys to help me get the items called before i came $150 for the guys to come only to not get in the storage was told they cant let me..TO GET MY DAM STUFF REALLY. I HATE UHAUL ACTIONS AND DOES NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IN WHAT THEY DO TO CUSTOMERS. I REPORTING YOU ON BOXMEER UHAUL CINDY DO NOTHING GM TO THE NEWS YOU HAVE COST ME ALOT OF MOMEY AMD ILLEGALLY CHATGED MY CREDIT CARD CINDY..YOU MADE A $39 TRUCK RENTAL DRIVING 49 MILES INTO ALMOST $200 RENTAL WTH!!!!!!!!!UHUAL is not hirting for money. I want time suffered denied my things, relentless efforts calling boxmerr store emailing calling customer service about this matter govingbthe rin around! When i was done - the reps advised me i was not allowed to return the equipment because someone else already determined a different place for me (which was completely out of the way). After that we end up having our stuff an extra month and did not have any problems. Staff was really nice when we would go and take our stuff out. Verley S | Overall ExperienceStorage unit was fine. Quarters are tight when pulling a trailer. Frequently have to have uhaul trucks moved to get access to unit. Often had to move small trailers to be able to get out of facilities while pulling my trailer, rentals were often not parked in marked spaces, once popped my trailer tire on the tongue of a rental trailer that was jutting out into lane. Staff was courteous and helpful when needed.

Poor service from Uhale in Kentucky, even poorer in Pineville, NC. Had to move my stuff in with no lights. Now I have damage property. They Over charged my account. I paid 160$ a month. Signs where outside saying 89.99$. Had to handle business cause I had a family and all our belongings with us. My Wife was very upset.

It was only 7:15 pm but the facility access hours are 5am - 10pm. Tried to call the facility manager but it went straight to the voice mail box that was full. Luckily, I noticed other customers retuning their truck after hours and I asked them to try swiping my card at the terminal outside of the main gate. It worked and I was able leave, otherwise I would have been stuck overnight waiting for the office to open next day. Very confusing and poorly design system!

kristi c | First ImpressionsThis complaint has to donwith a previous conversation I had with Charles regarding returning the 26' truck at time when charlotte is experiencing a gas shortage As I had mentioned to Charles the customer cannot/should not be held liable for for the crisis while no gas stations are open and the ones that are, you have to find them, meaning 10-30miles from your drop-off destination point. In a short summization I was charged $4.00 gallon from quarter to half tank marker in addition to 30miles on top of what had wouldn't have to pay had the customer be help liable for uncontrollably circunstatces during this gas crisis. I can't express my disappointment of my final receipt if $117.00 less a service fee all customers are having to pay, while still the profit of U Haul a multi-billion company is only being deposited at this time of crisis to there bank account ...... NOT GOOD BUSINESS to a company Ive used for 50yrs+. I do plan on making a larger complaint to recover that exspense hence the unfairity of this rental experience.

First time all of my brothers vinyl records were stolen approx 4,000 that he collected from the time he was very young and passed away at the young age of 59. I got one month of free rent. Because I didn't have a catalog of what was in the collection I couldn't claim on my home owners insurance. Even more important is I can never replace them. Don't leave anything that is of value or sentimental. These people DON'T care.

I like how it’s culturally diverse and how gender doesn’t play a role in the level of respect and responsibility that’s needed to support customers after all those trucks are big and equipment is heavy but each employee surpassed my expectations with a smile even when I needed assistance outside of normal duties they rose to the challenge. I’m so excited to see how they may grow into management or ownership one day. Only advice is when lines gets long there should be an outside waiting area or better way to organize customers who need to park temporarily or for the time of their rental for extended parking. So maybe a text system to say who is next because coming off that hill swinging into a full line of trucks is not the safe way to go because your employees are struggling to move trucks cars and that energy can be used to help customers not be traffic control. Overall great facility and teamwork!

I've never had a bad experience with Uhaul but this new experience makes me change my opinion because I had damages. I made my payments on time for the duration of the time I needed the storage facilities. But the day I moved my furniture out of both of my units. I noticed alot of my furniture was molded and some were completely ruined. And of course the insurance coverage I paid for each of my units doesn't cover that form of damage. Not to mention they were climate control facilities inside a building So not only did I waste money on insurance. Now I have to purchase new furniture.
