This was a very poor experience. We reserved the Uhaul a day prior and set it for a 2pm pickup. When we arrived to the facility, we booked at they said they had no more trucks. In turn, we had to drive 25 min out of our way to pickup at another Uhaul center. When we got there, the steering wheel was sticky, smelled and was dirty. Since we were 45 min late on pickup due to the alternative location situation, we couldn't get all of our errands accomplished before the 6pm drop off. Also, they wouldn't allow us to return it to closer facility, the one we originally scheduled the pickup/drop off from. So, we had another 30 min drive back to our home. When you do the math of having to rent, add mileage, gas and then the cost of a "trail car" (my wife) so you can drop off and actually have a ride home, its too costly.TARA K.

I was disappointed because I had reserved a truck at another store around 10 miles away and apparently uhaul cancelled that reservation without telling me and I arrived and there was not a truck for me. Removing the moving blanks and hand truck for the people who don't need them. They were in the way when trying to load and took space away. We couldn't move them because if we broke the seal, we would be charged. It was very inconvenient and I would not rent another uhaul truck if that's the way they all come.John M.

They knew for one week I would require the vehicle for a 50-mile trip, and did not fuel the truck for my trip when or before I took position. I was forced to locate a fueling station, in the city, before I could drive the vehicle to my work area 0.7-mile from the pick-up point. The vehicle should be full, and returned full. This facility at 14th St W has too many rental trucks, trailers and other things parked around making it difficult to get around in the lot. There are only 4 access slots,1 is handicap, to get to the storage building. And sometimes the rental trailers are blocking or partially blocking access to those slots. As I put in the last assessment of the repair I sent in. The truck I was given should never have been rented. The plate that covers the fuel pump was broken in the loading area and I had to lay a garage mat over it so I could use the dolly to load. After it got dark I wanted to turn on the light in the cargo area and it had no bulb or lense so I ran my own lights to finish. In the morning when we were ready to leave. I started to drive and the oil light came on. I stopped and checked the oil and it was so low it didn't register on the dip stick. We immediately went to the U-Haul store and had to wait for them to open. The yard man came out and I told him there wasn't any oil registering on the dip stick. He checked it and added two quarts. He checked it again and it was still a quart and a half low. He said there you go. I said it's still a quarte and a half low, so he went and got two more quarts, put one more in and handed me the other one to take along with me. I asked him why they didn't check these trucks out before they rent them. I said I'm driving 1200 miles and need a reliable truck.He said there was a guy who is suppose to do that, and he said I guess he's not doing his job. He said they took this truck out of local rental and made it a one way. He said they are trying to get all these d trucks up North so they can get them out of their fleet and replace them with new ones. So as I said before, I feel like U-Haul was charging me to drive their UNSAFE vehicles up North to retire it. The front suspension was so bad, every time we hit a bump the truck bottomed out. While driving at night through South Carolina, we hit a pot hole and the drivers side mirror fell off. We immediately called road side assistance. They wanted to know if we picked up the mirror, we said no, we are driving on route 77. After being transfered two more times to other people we were told to pull over and they'd get back to us. They couldn't find a mirror so they put us in a hotel until the next day. The repair tech fixed the mirror, went and got two more quarts of oil and put it in. Once again, this truck should have never been rented. It put my wife and myself in a very stressful and dangerous situation. If the motor would have blown up during rush hour in a major city or on the freeway late at night it would have been terrible. When we dropped it off at our final location I told them all that was wrong with the truck and what had happened and asked them to please not rent it to anyone else because it was an unsafe truck. He told me he was going to take it out of service immediately! On our first rental last week of the 26 foot truck and car trailer, we had them load our Toyota on the trailer. We we arrived at our drop off location to help us unload the car, they had a difficult time unstrapping the passenger front tie down because it wasn't over the tire it was over the suspension and cv joint. The one thing that impacted all customers there in sunday. Bot enough staff to effectively and process in timely manner. You need to do le your staff during peak work hours ti a complete. I had a moving company to move in my things. Delayed 1 hr due to lack of staffing, errors in unit being available, time to get access.and doymove. The gentleman who helped me was as helpful as he could be and very polite and the lack of staffing g was not his problem.too many behicles.coming in, inspections needed needed outside and they were only 2 at the front desk as well? All thought the facility is listed as 24 hour access, the storage facility is only accessible during the business hours for the truck rentals. Both times I have gone to access stuff into storage, I have had to go to the rental office wait in line and ask that the storage be opened as the access codes for the doors do not work. The office staff is less than happy about having to walk over to the storage to open it, the last time taking more than 30 minutes to come and open it.
