After receiving no fewer than 12 "confirmations" for my pick up of my rental and arriving ahead of the appointed hour, I had to overhear your employee trying to FIND the transporter! He did Not have the customer service decency to inform me of the problem. I had to wait nearly 3 HOURS after the appointment to finally receive my rental. As such I believe you owe me a significant refund since the workers that I hired (and had to pay) gave up and left. Consequently I was left with 1 man for a 4 man job and we did not get back until midnight ! It was a 10 AM CONFIRMED start that did not begin until the afternoon. I had appointments with mechanics which I was Not able to make because we were so Late because of your ineptness. The whole LONG day was disastrous because of your lack of any customer service standards. Process a 25-30% discount for my considerable inconvenience please at the earliest. Tim Leslie

Arrived to the facility and our 15 ft truck we reserved wasn’t available and didn’t receive any notification beforehand about it. Battery ended up dying on us before we made our first trip after packing the truck up. Oil was really low too. Roadside Assistance was relatively prompt, but it cut an extra hour out of our allotted time. The total price was really cheap, so you get what you pay for I guess. I did want to pay in cash though and the register wasn’t working. Figures.

Where to start. I booked the truck early, but wanted to make an update. Considering the website told me it wasn’t a problem I thought it would be fine. The night before my move they told me it would be on the south side of Chicago (a 40 minutes drive with traffic, and also a bad part of town). I was given a truck on empty. I asked them specifically what my conditions to return it were and they said on the contract it would show on empty so that I didn’t need to meet any fuel requirements. The day after I returned the truck, I received a charge for $30 for not having it at a quarter tank. I called the return store and they said the contract said I needed to have it at 1/4 tank to receive the fuel reimbursement they had given me (I’m sure it did, but that’s why I specifically asked them in the store) and they said there was nothing they could do about it. I’d seriously consider another company in the future if at all possible.

The pickup was wonderful and the young lady was knowledgeable & very HELPFUL about services. The return was not to smooth the youngman was lazy and not wanting to print my receipt insisting I go home to print it out. I do not like the self checkout.

The only problem that I see at the vehicles need to be maintained it sound like the transmission was slipping the brakes were worn down and it definitely needed oil change I could tell by driving it

When I reserved the truck, you made me download your app. Trying to use the app to pick up the truck was terrible. I tried to follow the video's directions, but at the pickup location the app only wanted me to add the event to my calendar.

I have Been able to rent equipment I needed every time I’ve been here and it hasn’t been to hectic. The last time how ever I did experience somewhat of a headache, after reserving a rental I was told I couldn’t rent because I had an outstanding rental fee (that I was not suppose to have). The young lady that was working at the time was obviously very overwhelmed, frustrated, and/or annoyed. She was the only worker at the time and had a couple customers there and did not want to deal with my situation. On my previos rental they forgot to record when I reurned the rental and we’re charging me as if did not return on agreed upon date (their mistake). I did receive a call a couple days after returning the rental asking me to return rental, when I told them I had already returned it they said, "oh yeah, it’s here". I never imagined I would get charged extra since I handed the key over to a worker upon returning. Well after being on phone with customer service for a while I had to practically force the worker at the location to get a hold of her manager. She kept saying "there is no manager available" or "I am the only one here and I can’t help". She also said "I don’t understand why you can’t just pay". She finally decided to call her manager and explained the situation to her (manager was there the day I returned my rental). Finally they figure out it was actually this same young lady’s fault that my rental did not get checked in and manager cleared me from having to pay extra fees so that I was able to rent again. This rude young lady did apologize and explained that it was her fault because she gets "too busy" (she just needs to take a breath and have better customer service).

The in-person,as well as the on-line experience, was excellent! The team at pick up were extremely helpful, very calm, helpful, friendly, and gracious. Moving is a very stressful life event. U Haul made it a very positive experience.

i tried to call the number on the form to tell them i would be late, but was put on a 20 minute wait list. i hung up. the place itself was efficient and good.

I made a reservation for a 26 foot truck for 24 hours a few weeks before our move. The location pick up was changed twice and I received a 20 ft truck for 10 hours. My move was a disaster and we were not able to finish moving out for 2 more days due to the changes U-Haul made to our reservation without our knowledge until the morning of pick-up. Customer service was arrogant and said the 20 ft truck we received was all that was available, even though we reserved a 26 ft truck a month before. We had to hire another moving company last minute for the following 2 days to complete our move costing us an extra $1,500. We also had to take days off of work. U-Haul caused our move to be a complete disaster. Don’t ever use this terrible company!

Left phone in van. When I retired 20 min later guy gave me phone. But my SIM card was stolen from the phone. Didn’t discover this till I arrived home. Wasn’t going to go back and have guy say he didn’t do anything to my phone. I know he stole the card. So no I won’t recommend.

The amount of gas in the vehicle was less than the amount indicated on the contract signed and I was charged for refilling to a higher level than it was checked out to me. Also the self-return process didn’t provide me confirmation so I was confused as to if the return was properly logged.

Gage, a young man which I had the pleasure of meeting should go to other U-Haul stores and show them what professionalism look like. He can help your stores where your representative is rude, talking on a personal phone call while there maybe 3or4 customers in line. And I guess the biggest thing that some of your other stores need help in..Talking and listening intently to a customer, recognizing that we are the customers. Make us feel you value us with simple pleasentness.

I ordered a 4x7 foot trailer and was given something smaller. When I got to my destination I realized it was smaller. Now the project I was picking up would fit. Had to drive anoth et r 40 minutes to pick up and trade out for a new trailer. Recieved no good customer support. And now I am being charged a wrongful destination drop off and a one way charge for something that was not my fault. If I do not reciever a refund I will be going to the better buisness beauro with this.

I initially reserved a van at WF Hall Self Storage, which is within walking distance of where I live. But when I got there, they said they didn’t have my reservation and that I should instead go to this location, which required me to drive. When I got there, they also didn’t have a record of my reservation, but were able to set me up with what I needed, despite the frustration. In the future, when someone makes a reservation for a given location, the vehicle should actually be available at the requested location.

This particular location was great but the overall experience that day was TERRIBLE!! I had originally scheduled a U-Haul at 5155 S Cottage Grove with the truck share app but the truck was buried behind 3 other truck... I called U-Haul they then sent me to another location 5940 S Ashland the truck wasn’t there either....

The woman that checked out my truck when ordering and taking it out was pretty good. However, I found the manager or whoever checked out my truck upon return was quite honestly sarcastic and condescending. I did not find her to be particularly pleasant or friendly. Instructions at take out were minimal. Overall my experience was satisfactory. But someone there needs to lose the attitude.

it feels like U Haul is trying every way to get the bill as high as possible. the insurance coverage went up from $10 the last time i rented to $30 now. when i rented the van the estimate was $59 for two days. i told them it should be $40 they looked bewildered that i noticed the problem. i told them put down whatever you want but know i'll go over the final charges carefully. it feels like a n adversarial interaction which if it were well managed it would NOT.
