Everything went great with the trailer rental. The only thing was that the trailer had clearly been pulled down a wet gravel road and had not been washed.

Trailer interior needed swept out when I got it back home. It also came off my trailer ball with a pothole and ran into the back of my car. The ball latch seemed to be broken.

The service is very useful, but the customer service was poor. Every time I was on the phone with anyone from my location, they were rude and sounded annoyed to have to do their jobs. My u boxes arrived late twice in a row, first because of a storm which was understandable. Second was because “someone stole their truck keys”. Very unprofessional and honestly quite scary considering this was the place in charge of security for my entire house of belongings. I called customer service when that happened, corporate customer service said they would rectify that, but when I got transfered back to the local uhaul again they were absolutely no help. Told me they would attempt to get my money back, but I never had back.
Then they delivered my storage units after picking them up late to my new house because I didn’t call to “confirm the delivery” even though it was clearly scheduled online. They called me at 7:30 in the morning to ask if I still wanted them delivered that day and I didn’t answer because any normal person would be asleep. I called them back at 8 am and apparently that wasn’t early enough for them because they told me their driver had already left for the day. Both times I had a crew ready to help me load/unload them, and had to reschedule because of this companies unprofessional crew. Also the person on the phone both times was extremely dismissive and audibly sighed a couple times when talking to me.
I also rented their largest uhaul truck for my remaining items and the truck ceiling had a leak… during a thunderstorm. it made moving that day really terrible because we couldn’t use half the truck because of the water pooling onto the floor. Overall I spent a lot of money and had bad service and bad equipment. In the past uhaul was much more useful and normal to work with, but this experience was poor to say the least.

Out of all the locations in Grand Rapids, this is by far my favorite. There are other locations in town to don’t even come near to the service provided here. The manager Melissa, as well as all the staff are friendly and go the extra mile for me. During the winter they go as far as clearing off the trucks, warming them up, and driving them to the entrance for me. I would recommend them to anyone in need of a truck.

Overall, I had a very poor experience. Not only was I charged for a full month when I only used seven days of the new month, but I was also charged a cleaning fee for no apparent reason. In total, I ended up paying an additional $30 and $160 beyond what I expected. This is extremely frustrating.

I was provided a Dodge van with no washer fluid. When I asked for some, I was told they didnt have any. The windshield was already covered in salt when I picked up the vehicle and only got worse during my use. Its a safety hazard not to provide washer fluid in the winter with how quickly salt covers the windshield. Additionally, the van itself was filthy upon pickup. Primarily on the exterior. I would understand a bit of ice build up from the weather, but the van was disgusting and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The inside smelled faintly of cigarettes which gave me a headache while I drove. Also, the van had 12,000 miles on it yet the pil change sticker said it needed changed at 9000. So either the van was 3000 miles overdue for an oil change or the sticker wasnt changed. Both indicators of poor maintenance either way.
On a final note, I used the restroom at the location when I was picking the van up
The toilet was covered in feces inside the bowl and outside of the bowl on the lid and other areas. This was particularly gross.
The two employees on duty however were very pleasant and helpful. The management/ownership of thr location need to take some accountability though. I was very unimpressed.

Please do not rent that truck that I used out again until it is seen by someone. The parking break automatically engaged when I was driving on the interstate and it almost killed me and or could have caused an accident. The parking break did not disengage. I don't know if the sensor was broke or there was ice that was causing the issue (it was about -15 degrees). I had to keep my calf holding the parking break up well past the normal amount while driving to keep it from engaging. I communicated this on turn in. It was not safe at all. Other than that the customer service and every human interaction was amazing. The moving service also was amazing. Thank you for enabling me to move my family into our home. We will forever be in your debt. When other moving services refused delivery for consecutive days. You pulled through, saved me from spending more money on a hotel and most importantly saved my daughter from having to sleep on the floor again.

Be careful and look at your receipts! Take pictures and videos! They tried to tack on all the extra fees including “fuel”. In which I refueled and left more in it then what I picked it up at. They still tried to scalp my account. Called customer service and they took care of it. Manager still hasn’t called to let me know what happened or why. Just be careful and keep an eye out.

When I received the truck it did not have a full tank which they did tell me. I took a picture of the gas when I got in it to know how much to put back into it. I was charged for 2 gallons of gas and a crazy amount. I think it’s a bit crazy to charge for 2 gallons of gas when the truck wasn’t full to begin with it’s a bit hard to judge to the exact amount that it was on originally. 10.00 for two gallons of gas is a bit excessive. The miles per dollar were a bit higher than other places rented them for but i did know that before renting. Keep the trucks on full so customers know when they return to just fill it back up so we do not have to get it perfectly at a like and guessing how much to fill.

I was told that a free lock would be inside the unit when I moved in there was no lock in the unit I had to go to Meijer and purchase a lock to lock my unit! The lock cost me $14.23. I am not happy. Also I did not understand why when I went to pick up the truck that the customer service person took a picture of my Driver's license front and back instead of just typing my information into the system. I don't understand why they didn't give me the lock when I went to pick up the truck. I called customer service they could not get in contact with the store. David said that he was sending email and he would contact the manager and the manager when you get back to me. So far I have not received an email documenting my contact with customer service regarding the missing lock issue.

I donated some mattresses some time ago to the community center that is available there. I was then charged and then treated like the bad guy for donating them because they did not have a sign, nor anywhere written on the company website or in my written contract on the policy of what can and can't be donated. I was incredibly impressed with the set up of the facility. The drive in access and the carts made unloading so so easy. The lock being provided was a nice touch and the overall security is great. I sent a money order once and was told that uhaul never received payment. Also when I re paid the payment I had already sent I called, emailed uhaul and told them that I had emptied out the storage and was no longer in need of there services I was told that i couldn't end it until i brought back the key to the lock which was provided by uhaul which I had left in the storage i had rented and was continuously charged by uhaul when numerous of times i informed i didn't have the key and i had moved out of state and they still harassed me and charged me at uhaul l HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE AS WELL AS HAVE AN OUTSTANDING BILL THAT I KEPT NO ITEMS OR THINGS IN THE UHAUL STORAGE UNIT.

I enjoyed using the Uhaul storage space but the only recommendation is that I would offer a financial hardship option for customers who might be dealing with a difficult financial situation. For instance, I fell into a financial hardship and could only place my items in storage. Once they were stored I still struggled with finding employment and had to move my things before being auctioned. I would suggest Uhaul, having a possible payment plan to avoid customers from losing there valuables if they were in a financial hardship situation.

The unit was placed on a parking lot in such a way that water entered the unit during heavy rain and snow. The floor of the unit sloped down the farther toward the back wall you went so water seeped in under the door. We had quite a few items damaged. Uhaul may wish to know about this issue for future customers.

There actual containment units were very well kept. They were clean with easy assess. However, and let me CLEAR, Sonia is WONDERFUL! She is knowledgeable about her job. She’s well spoken and VERY, VERY nice to the customers(she has a good sense of humor too!). But she needs help! I mean HELP as in employees. She can’t there 24/7. And the people(to be honest, there’s only one person there), claim not to know the system because that is not the store they work usually. I am over 60(well over), and I don’t like using the app! I prefer in person contact and a hard copy of every transaction. That’s why I would not recommend this u-haul location because my friends are the same and they like computers as well as I do!

Moving into the storage was a bit disappointing because there was a big Uhaul truck in one of the loading/unloading spots on one end of the building and another construction like work vehicle parked at one of the other loading/unloading spots. There are only 4 spots and it makes moving your things take longer than need be because you have to wait for someone to move. I just think that the facility is too big to be designed the way that it is…needs more loading/unloading spots.

Sonya Will went above and beyond to help me . They were Extremely understaffed .the employee I had first made a mistake and rented me a smaller unit I needed a bigger one. I did not have time to wait to change so I called while I was taking a trip and left a message.Sonya called me telling me all was set and made the change to the correct unit and all I had to do was drop in and get my new card and map that was there waiting for me . I was extremely impressed with the customer service I received from her. Manager Sonya Ellis and staff are awesome! Beautiful facility as well, very well-kept. Unfortunately, U-Haul has the worst software and computer system I have seen for modern Company that ha been a business as long as you have. Every time I’ve been in there the computers crash, and it’s difficult for the employees to navigate you’re stupid software. Does clicking on things more often make it a better system? Not very user-friendly, or customer friendly. I hope you didn’t actually pay somebody to create this software. Employees were awesome though!

I believe the manager was Amy Swill. Everytime I have been there she visibly and vocally is in a horrible mood and treats her co-workers like crap in front of customers. She seems to pick in Rick Poll who is always very friendly and helpful. I cannot believe she is allowed to be in charge of anyone or anything. Please address her consistently awful behavior. It makes try to rent anything an uncomfortable experience.

Sonya was a rockstar! She was there primarily by herself and really was taking care of everything. She still gave us the attention we needed, walked us through everything and answered our questions professionally and with a sense of humor, despite how busy it was. I was very pleased with the whole experience that I had other than the key drop box. The vehicle I was returning had a key phob connected to the key and it wouldn't fit into the drop box. I tried prying on the box to be able to properly drop my rental off and the door fell open and that made me very nervous for extra charges. Other than that, it was as close to perfect as you could get!

To begin we were guaranteed a 20ft truck (the only size that would work for moving to a new state) at a specific location nearby. The day before pick-up we were contacted and told that truck size doesn't exist at the guaranteed location and we could drive to a further location for a 15 ft truck (way too small!) They should've delivered the truck to our location instead of making us drive 3 hours round trip, taking 3 hours out of a workday and losing us that part of a days paycheck and wasting our time and stress. Once we got the truck unloaded and headed to the storage unit we'd pre-registered and that was included free with our one way truck rental, the trouble and headaches kept coming.
We were originally given a 10x5 at another facility, but when we got to the unit, it's actual measurements were 5x5, even the worker said that happens, that U-Haul's dimension of storage spaces don't always match the dimensions they advertise them as, he measured it for us for confirmation. We had to call customer service (plus 15 minutes of in hold time) to locate another facility with the size we needed because the store was unable to look it up or call them. We had no way of double-checking with the new facility whether they actually had the unit available in that size, and the worker at the one we were at wasn't able to for us (ridiculous they can't call another store locally to check!). We had to blindly drive to the new facility.
Upon arrival, check-in was smoothish. The young man wasn't thorough and missed some things we had to correct for him. Then he sent us to our unit and forgot to come unlock our unit for us so we had to go remind them we were there 30 minutes later to which the guy said he'd forgotten we were there. He didn't warn us of the sticky trap on the floor of the unit or point it out at all so I accidentally stepped on it moving something into the unit and ruined the bottoms of good running shoes.
All of this made us late for our rented truck drop off time, and lower on fuel for drop off than we were supposed to be, we wouldn't have been if this hadn't all been wrong. Not only was this a drain on finite fossil fuel resources, it was a waste if our time, adding an additional hour of driving around for U-Haul's mistake. This all also made us so late that we missed a ticketed event and were unable to get a refund.
Very dissatisfied with the company and the customer service as a whole for wasting at least 5 hours of our time, energy, and emotions.

Other than being very busy and under staffed the store was great. However my on-line reservation for the storage unit was worthless! Even though on-line confirmed my storage unit, when I showed up there was no unit available to rent. I tried calling another store but must have been directed to your main call center. The person who helped me reserve over the phone got me the correct size confirmed available but when I showed up to the store I was informed the only two units were on the second and fourth floor and there is no elevator. I finally went to a third location before I was able to get the unit.

Sonya and Vincent did a great job of helping me despite the system being down. This made it really difficult to get moved in to storage and rent a truck. Nothing was really explained how anything worked there and had to make several return trips to the front desk (and wait several minutes because of the line) to just ask "How do I even get in to the bay?" or "What truck should I take?" I know part of this was because the system was down and everything was crazy, but it was a huge time waster. A simple video on the app would have worked way better.

Everything was very clean and easy to access. The only issue was one of the bay doors was broke so if someone in a regular vehicle had to wait to get a uhaul tuck in the bay and the number of carts availability. One guy had two carts which was all the carts on that end.

went to the location walked into the store to get paperwork and keys.
I stood there with not a soul in sight for 10 minutes, then walked out. drove around looking for employees...started a chat online to figure out how to get the keys to my unit, walked back in and there were 2 ladies at the counter, I had good reason to believe that someone informed them about my comlaint..ill leave it at that.

The management has control issues and makes up policies as they go along tbat suits them. I would NEVER in a million years ever use this facility again or recommend it to anyone. It may be a better place if they got rid of the management team and start with a fresh staff.

I was offered a job with federal government, however, I had to relocate to another state to accept the position. This is what brought me to Uhaul. Initially, everyone appeared to be nice and helpful. Unfortunately, after a small mishap on my part, resulting in damage (for which I paid for in full), the manager became very unprofessional and condescending. Additionally, after moving my items out of the free storage, I had to call several times (with no return call) in order to close out the unit. Thankfully, I won’t have a need for Uhaul services any time soon. However, after my experience at this location, I will forego using Uhaul in the future and go with Penske or another moving company.
