KENDALL OOne employee attitude was very aggressive and the others followed the mood swing. When I entered I was not greeted and walked in on one of the representative leaving a bad voice mail to someone who he said attempted to steal equipment. I felt like they were using that energy as if I was another customer coming in to steal the equipment as well because they kind of ignored me and conversed on the situation as if I wasn't their. I felt that conversation should have been a private employee meeting. Another customer walked in and in shock he started to apologize that the situation was happening to him. I felt he apologize to diffuse the situation just so he could get good customer service. I went to another location previously he had the same situation happened but was not rude to me but it just so happened it was the equipment I wanted that had not been returned so I went to this location. I was thinking about leaving and not renting the equipment from them but I changed my mind because I drove 35 minutes and was away from my family to try to rent a trailer to get some stuff moved for our home. Customer Service training needs to be made at all locations
SHACAREE DThe lady that checked me out need customer service training. She was very rude at times and showed an attitude. And was very short. The other gentleman who checked me back when I returned was wonderful.

JERRY TVery poor communication overall. Had a problem with the truck and just want a simple swap out but they act like I breaking their leg. The wildest thing was they told me all the truck on the lot had the same problem with the AC not working and that is normal, are you kidding me. So pretty much their saying we know the problem is there but I still just take people money and deal with the problem later. In my case, they didn’t care not one bit!!

DAVID VI was charged twice and no one can properly explain to me why and now in faced with a overdraft and they did nothing to help the situation since they were the one who ran my card twice

Ardene HLacks professionalism off top; staff is too relaxed and speaks negatively about other costumers that have left around existing customers. I observed this with the manager and his staff. Outside door on left side of bldg gets stuck consistently preventing you from entering even after you enter code. Myself and several others have experienced this upon our arrival to our storage units; we eventually will let one another in because we understand that management isn’t going to fix. Most of staff is ghetto, lacks business etiquette and proved complacent many times. Went to close out my unit and of 4-5 people behind desk nobody did or said anything. Only one person was with a customer but the other 4 or 5 were busy doing something else and still never acknowledged me. I ended up leaving and coming back later. Respect and good ratings have to be earned and so the staff, their interactions with customers, how they conduct themselves, and leadership from the top has to become the culture. I’m sure I’ll need storage again at some point but I will definitely stay away from this place.
JAMEY H | Overall ExperienceEquipment was not in the truck when I went to pick it up like it was supposed to be . The transmission in the truck would barely shift even when it was empty. The A/C was barely even cold . It had a handwritten message on the windshield that said DO NOT CHANGE Oil. Door locks were hard to open as well.

Wendell CI call ahead and left a message a day ahead that I would come in early due to the hot weather,but the person did bother to the message and I didn't get my u box at an schedule time but longer and my schedule was messed up and didn't get finished until the closed which the u haul personal known but did charge me a late charge for not returning the van back which I got a late start due to them.

VICTORIA SI selected a different drop off location and was texted instructions to an address that was not an authorized U Hual site. It turned out to be a used car lot. Fortunately I passed the location I used for drop off on the way. Updating available locations would be helpful to future customers. Overall I was very satisfied other than the slight hiccup attempting to make my return. Thankfully it wasn’t after hours so it was handled easily.

rachel mThey have great truck availability and good staff. The last two times I rented a truck, the cargo area was so dirty I had to clean it out before I loaded it. This was disappointing. Also, on my most recent rental, the furniture dolly was not attached to the wall.
Jim LThe location was understaffed. The three who were working were doing the best they can, but they were already overworked at 9 a.m. on a Sunday! Overall, I am NOT HAPPY with the Columbia SC locations. Understaffed, and it doesn't matter where you put in your order -- the night before you will update the order with a location I did not choose. I had to pay for a ride share to arrive at this location, when I originally rented a truck at the ELMWOOD LOCATION which was walking distance.

I was so disappointed when I returned the trailer … I had issue trying to get it unhitched.due to me not being strong enough to lift… however it was still a staff member there and I asked her for help and she replied that she was off the clock and couldn’t assist me!!!!!!!! I was willing to help her . She was just so unprofessional. And had such a nasty attitude!!!!!!!! I had to call someone to help me and my mom to unhitch the trailer!!!!! JAWANDA JAngel helped me and my dad after no other uhaul rep would even direct me in the correct area via phone and walking to different stores. She stayed late to make sure our horrible day ended better and helped us find a moving truck and trailer after our car broke down

LUCIEN L | First ImpressionsThe store seemed to be understaffed, as it took a long time to get the trailer checked out and get me on my way. That being said, the manager, Ahl, was very courteous and great to work with, but he could have used additional support staff.
JEFFREY CThere were two people (one man, one woman) working at the time I checked out. The man was berating the woman while she was serving three guests in line and two over the phone. He was not helpful to any guest in the store or over the phone and made her handle everything while sitting beside her. When she asked for help, he would say rude comments to her. She stayed calm and respectful to every guest despite his atrocious behavior toward her. I will not be using this location again because of his behavior toward his colleagues. It was clear that he contributes to a poor work environment and I will not support a business that allows that kind of behavior.
ANNE JThe price for the vehicles are misleading. I was excepting to pay 20 dollars for the day but ended up Paying 106.00. I’m currently waiting for my refund which I haven’t got an email about . I will be calling the location for an update.
ALEXIS WThe facility needs professional process and courtesy training. I returned a trailer on time, but the facility and its employees really dropped the ball multiple times. It took multiple calls to contentious employees and three days later they finally checked the trailer into the system. Unfortunately they charged me an extra day due to their error. I am contesting this with U-Haul now. Unprofessional Contentious Unhelpful Undisciplined in business procedure.

Michael E | First ImpressionsMake sure the equipment is well oiled down and tested for using because one of the gears were rusty and very much not operational to use but I prayed and managed with the situation on the fact; that I had problems from the beginning of my unsatisfactory reservations from Sunday July 21st.
Derek MChris went above and beyond to help us hook up our trailer. It was very hot outside and he spent 15-20 minutes making sure our lights worked. Thank you!

Joseph SNot the facility at Cayce fault. They didn’t have my reservation, although I had it in me app. The were able to find me two smaller units near each other but not convenient. I had called Savannah in Monday to make sure they had me dropping the truck off at Uhaul of Cayce, since we were using the storage there. It was not, the person on the phone says she adjusted it. It was them showing Cayce as the drop off. But when o got to the storage place they did not have it listed. Do I had to drive way on the other side of town. Causing me to me over mileage and was charged for it. The App apparently does not work well their computer system. All this causing a lot of stress

Ron DI was very dissatisfied that on the day prior to pick up (Sunday) I get an email changing my location to a store that opened 2 hrs after the pickup time I reserved. I had 17 teens meeting me at 930 to go to camp and they changed my new pickup time to a store that opened at 10. I believe you should have given me the 5x8 for the price of the 4x8 since I had to upgrade to pickup at 8am. I reserved this 2 weeks prior. I replayed to the change of status and even called the number to say unacceptable change but I got a reply 6 hrs after I picked up my trailer. I would not recommend uhaul to someone if they need it at a specific time especially on a Monday.

Kris HI had a horrible experience with my pick up location in South Carolina when returning the UHAUL. One of the workers named Lexi at the 1500 Charleston Avenue location in SC was rude ASF & refused to help me when I called about problems I was having with the auto transport. She even hung up on me twice and my family and I had to figure things out in the rain. Overall 2/10 for the experience at UHAUL. Horrible introduction to this town. A shame.
Shannon TThe cab was pretty dirty and I was told that there was a quarter of a tank (which was also on the paperwork) so I was expected to return it with a quarter when it was on the gas light when I first got in. I ended up spending over 50$ on gas when I shouldn’t have had to.
MITCHELL LMy pick up experience was great. The young lady who help was very helpful. Upon return the manager was angry with one customer who had a complaint and when it was my turn I felt the aggression towards me with a simple question. So my recommendation would be customer service friendliness. We all were waiting for almost an hour but no one had to be met with aggression from a manager. I always feel you get the spirit you give off and his was not very friendly. The other young lady was trying to help him but was not very knowledgeable of contract information. She was friendly and could not explain and he was not trying to assist her so frustration ran high in this building on that day. Cross training in a business is a must Take this from someone who worked customer service for 20 years

She deserves a pat on the back and a bonus for dealing with a pro sematic customer and handling my transaction like a pro at the same time. As well, the gentlemen that completed my pick up was awesome and the staff as a whole were welcoming and friendly. Best Uhaul experience I've ever had hands down. Thanks for having a great team. Made my move easy and helped me keep to my schedule. 100/10!

MARTIN KPickup was fine. Drop-off was a disaster. I told my pickup agent where I lived and where the best drop-off locations would be: Mount Pleasant or downtown Charleston, SC. I later received a text saying that I should drop off at a different location, several miles away in a different town. This was at 5:30 pm Sunday afternoon -- after business hours, unfortunately. After several unanswered calls to U-Haul's 1-800 number and an unsuccessful attempt to drop this trailer off at the location I first indicated would be best, I had to haul it all the way back home and wait until the next day to call a scheduling office in yet another distant town (Savannah) to ask permission to drop it off at that original location. This would mean I'd be late to work, but without that permission, I'd have to pay a "substantial fee," the agent explained. Suggestions for avoiding this: (1) Provide all your booking agents with a map showing the drop-off location closest to the destination address. (2) Hire more agents to answer phones. I was put on indefinite hold twice, where no one ever picked up. Even when I got a call back, I was put on hold for several minutes before an agent picked up.
john nAbsolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. Everything that could possibly go wrong, did. I had made a reservation online for both a truck and a storage facility. Upon going to two different U-Haul locations, neither of my reserved things were available. I flew to Columbia, South Carolina from Maryland that morning and had six hours to move my daughter out of her apartment. I wasted more than two hours, re-answering inane questions I had already answered online, only to have re-registration time out two different times because they took too long. I don’t understand why U-Haul has a website or a reservation system at all, if the things you reserve ahead of time are not available when you show up. The manager clearly didn’t care, and this was the worst customer service I’ve ever had in my entire life. I will be writing negative reviews on any website I can to explain this horrible experience. The only bright spot, was one employee named Natasha, who finally was able to get us a rental unit. Otherwise, I would have made a flight only to have to fly back with my stuff still in your truck and no solutions on what to do next.

Daniel HThe general manager here has no clue what he’s doing and he’s rude about it. He tried to charge us another month of rent because he didn’t pay attention or do his part of the move out process until he called me saying I was past due and I had to tell him what he was supposed to do. I’ve seen him be rude to customers and he has been rude to me when I rented a truck here. It was a “guaranteed rental” and we did not get the equipment we needed with that truck rental like we were supposed to. Again, he didn’t tell me that we wouldn’t be getting the appliance dolley, I had to go ask and he did not apologize for the issue. He just said “well I don’t have one of those to give you” and we barely got the last regular dolley. He had to run around and find one for us. Very disorganized location with horrible communication.

She was very attentive and helpful to us getting settled in to our unit. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the experience leading up to my arrival. I called 3 times and my wife called once. Collectively we waited on the phone in excess of 20 minutes for one simple question that never was answered because you stated you were the only one in the office. The third time I called you I told you I had a quick question and you said you’re going to have to continue holding as you were the only one in the office. I told you I had already waited and called several times and you placed me back on hold. Upon my arrival you were there and you told the individual working to only work out of one till bag “3” because you didn’t want to have to count all of the bags every night and it makes it harder on you, your child was there and you were yelling at the child in the break room on several occasions of being there. As you were leaving you told Lacey if she had any questions to call another co worker not to call you. Lastly you walked out and I watched and even took a photograph of you putting your child into your vehicle that was parked in the handicap parking spot. The lack of professionalism from the first interaction until the last is very disappointing. I have forwarded this email to U-Haul corporate in hopes they are able to rectify the situation and provide a better environment for customers and employees a like. V/R Shane Smith

To top it off he made me feel it was my fault he charged my card after being charged for an empty unit. If he would have been doing what he is supposed to do he would know that I was gone for 2weeks. But again he was too busy with personal conversations.

Scott J | Overall ExperienceI wish it were more accessible with my disabilities and it would be helpful if there was 24 hour access when moving into storage to allow for more time for someone who has disabilities and mobility issues resulting in being unable to move very quickly and having very little help. It also doesn't help when it is on such short notice due to leaving a domestic violence situation, along with difficulties getting information needed and actually being able to get the reservation made in a timely manner when I needed it. I have already discussed this with several people along the way, although I realize that very rarely do people truly hear and understand the struggles and limitations of those with disabilities or going through a domestic violence situation, most less both.

Fortunately, when I went to the site to Checkin, the local site manager Michael Brown and an assistant Nafiz were wonderful and corrected the problems created by the software.

If I had to truly critique, I would say it would be nice to offer move in specials like $1, $5, first months rent to new comers. The over all condition of the LARGE facility is nice but some areas could use better lighting to see inside the unit when you are in the warehouse at night. FINALLY please offer 24hr access for those of us who may be night owls and need to do searching or moving after normal business hours.. I again thank you for taking care of my things and not being total SHARKS like some storage facilities can be and only want to auction off your things!!! THANK YOU!!!! *Tracey D*
