I filed a complaint on several levels. Reference number 3446646. Those loadeing the U-Haul box for those doing the delivery and unloading loaded it BACKWARDS. And, on one of the trailers the equipment was terrible to use. That is part of the reason for the low rating. The workers who actually unloaded it did a very good job. I can't say the same about the U-Haul personnel.James G.

The employees here were generally friendly and courteous. However, the customer service rep at the location showed me her screen where a photo was "uploaded" to my reservation or account. She said I uploaded it. I don't know who the person/people are in the photo, where it came from, who uploaded it, or why it is associated with my reservation. I explained that I made the reservation online (not through a phone app) and that I did not upload anything when I made the reservation. While it might have been amusing for the reps, I am concerned about the integrity and privacy of my reservation information if someone was able to upload an unrelated/irrelevant photo that somehow became associated with my reservation and rental. Please investigate this further. I was told to return the truck "clean" but when I got to the truck it was obvious the truck had not been cleaned or washed in quite some time. Even though I used the truck for only a few hours on highways in dry/non-dirty conditions, I still washed the truck and returned it in BETTER condition than when it was picked up. For the price I paid for a 4 hour rental and 89 miles total, Enterprise truck rental is a better value, and their vehicles are typically cleaned before release to the customer for rental. I'd imagine strange photos are not mysteriously uploaded or associated with their customers' reservations.Jesse K.

Waited 15 minutes for said Chris to arrive and take the women in front of me no telling how long she was there. I got the truck and reservation he gave me the keys. Told me the wrong truck and told me just go look for the number on the truck. I also gave him a $25 card I would be using. He never took it off. Upon return my phone was dead he then told me he could not take the $25 of because he needed to see it again cause he never discounted me. I had to wait 3 min for my phone to charge 27 seconds for it to load. All around Chris was a mess I will NEVER from this particular branchTALEAH H.

I have had my personal items picked up, delivered and stored for about 1 1/2 years. I was allowed to pay rental fee electronically each month which was quite helpful. I had to wait for 35 minutes until finally the second worker came up front to help me! The guy helping the woman in front of me seemed like he didn't know what he was doing! This was so frustrating because I needed to arrive at the location I needed to pick my stuff up by 5:00 & after waiting 35 minutes it put me behind! You need more than 2 people working there! I reserved a 26' ft truck more than a week in advance. A 26' was confirmed on the reservation. When I arrived to pick up the uhaul, I was advised that all they could give me was a 15' truck because they didn't have any 26' in stock. I showed the staff my reservation for a 26' truck, to which they stated they didn't have a 26' to provide me. At no time prior to my showing up to pick up the uhaul was I advised that a 26' was unavailable. The staff was unwilling to help until I pressed them to do something, as I had numerous people waiting to help me move. They finally called your dispatch, who advised that a 26' truck was available in Carlisle, 30 minutes in the opposite direction that I was going. The dispatch said that they had reserved that 26' for me and to head to Carlisle. On my way to Carlisle uhaul, I called Carlisle to confirm that they actually had a 26' for me. The male employee stated he did not have any 26' trucks available and proceeded to give me attitude over the phone after I explained what had just happened at Harrisburg Uhaul. I turned around and went back to Harrisburg Uhaul and advised them that I had just spoken with Carlisle and they told me that they did not have a 26' truck for me. The female employee got back on the phone with dispatch, who advised that they had â€œforgottenâ€ to make the new reservation for the 26' truck. I then had to turn back around to head to Carlisle once again to pick up the 26' truck, which there were multiple available, contrary to what the male employee had previously told me on the phone. This was an absolutely horrible customer service experience and this company has lost my business. Not one, but two different uhaul locations, on the same day, were very unprofessional. This seems to be a company wide issue. Uhaul's failures caused me to drive out of my way and be several hours late for the time I told people to meet me to help move.TRAVIS N.
Ensure vehicle is in working order; tow package would not disengage which caused major issues and cost me 2 hours add'l of 4 movers time. Also, NEVER give someone a rental vehicle where gas is not at FULL. easy to fill to full - how do you give someone 1/4 tank and say have a nice day and hope you get to your 1st destination. Also while i know many areas were understaffed this place was for a saturday, which I am sure is a major move day in your industry with only 1 person behind the counter and 6-7 people in line. while she did a good job it wasn't excellent and she surely could have used help to be more efficient. she did try really hard to balance that out.MARGARET M.

I understand everyone is short staffed, so the people that are working are tired. Overall just not very friendly, not bad just not great. When I went to load my trailer it had a bent ramp pin, made it very difficult to drop the ramp. It takes 3 minutes to check moving parts for the next customer, go ahead and maybe check. Had I driven a long distance and not been able to get the ramp down at all it would have made and extremely frustrating experience. I would still recommend this location because of location, convenience and product availability...not because of stellar service.Jonathan F.

Truck can was clean but back needed swept heavily before I even used it. Tried to extend rental time and was on hold forever then tried online and that didn't work out. Tried by phone again and got sent to Florida office. Finally had to stop moving to go to rental office and get it extended. Then trying to do self check in the evening I was returning did not want to work after several tries. Uploaded countless pictures and items it requested and it froze then tried again and it said it completed only to see on final receipt that it did not complete self check-in so I got charged a check in fee. I have rented several truck and vehicles from here and never had this type of experience. I even rent a storage unit and still don't have issues with that. This time was a totally bad experience and waste of time and extra money.Maria T.

First of all I'm trying to set my rental time up for 9:00 a.m. but the lady said everything at 9:00 was booked how about 8:00 am. So I was late getting there to pick up my rental I tried to call him but there was over a 20-minute wait time on the phone then they called me and said are you coming I said yeah I tried to call you but I didn't feel like sitting on the phone for 20 minutes wait until you got to representative available but yeah I'm coming I'm just running a little late. So I picked the rental up they said it has to be back by noon okay fine that's that was my rental agreement anytime and the guy tells me he says it has to have between a quarter of a tank and 3/8 of a tank of gas when you bring it back or you'll be charged for something a gallon for gas and if you bring it back later it's a $50 fee instead okay. I brought the truck back 13 minutes late I left my property which is a couple miles from the U-Haul location but with traffic till I got there it was like 13 after 12:00 and they called me at like 10 after 12:00 and said hey are you bringing that back cuz they had it already running out to someone else and I said yeah I'm like a minute away I'll be right there. I get there like 13 minutes late I have a quarter tank of gas matter of fact it was like a needles with over a quarter tank what it was supposed to be these assholes charge me for fuel their little guy that checks in the the it's almost like a scam like it had to fuel in it that it was supposed to have in it but he added two gallons and charge me $10 for that then they charge me an environmental fees like two or three dollars for that and they charge me the $50 late fee for like 11 minutes late I'm 11 minutes late they doubled my feet my feet my first fee was $71 and my second fee after I turned it in was like $75 like they basically stole $75 from me for a bunch of bullshit you know like if I if I'd known for 11 minutes after 12:00 you were going to do all that I'd have kept the damn thing all day you know like I will never go back there like they're a bunch of rip off artists of an environmental fee they put gas in it that didn't need to go in it they broke me up a whole second bill for the second charges you know so instead of $71 like it was supposed to be it was $150 like fuck you Hall fuck that place fuck the people that work there they're a bunch of rip-off piece of shit assholesHOANG N.

I used multiple services and nothing went the way it should, I know you’ll probably dismiss this but when I went to do a mobile pick up of a truck that I needed at 7am, I wasn’t able to get the truck Even though I came to the location two days before to make sure all was well, had to wait until 9 , no sympathy from the worker, storage unit was wrong size and unavailable, another delay, finally got a unit at a different location, a 4 hour move took 7 hours, I will avoid uhaul at all costs if I can in the future.Emily J. | Online Move In

The 10x10x6 unit I reserved on-line with my truck was not available when I showed up in PA on 12/2 (order #20731372). An employee (Steve) put me in a 5x10x6 and 5x10x8 as an alternative, and told me he would merge the units so I would pay the same monthly bill I was anticipating. Steve said he would call me to come in on a later day to sign the receipt/contract once they were able to merge the units. I went back in-person on 12/'7 since I had not received a call. I was told by another employee (Shawna) while she was on the phone with corporate storage, she could not merge the units since they were different sizes (one is two feet taller than the other). She said I would have to move my belongings out of one of my units into another, so both the units are the exact same size to receive the merged rate. I am expected (again) to spend my time and energy to make-up for false promises and booking errors made by U-Haul. U-Haul made the mistake allowing me to reserve a non existent unit. I took the two 5x10s because I was told the rates would be merged into the monthly rate I had expected. The employees now tell me I have to spend another day moving my stuff around because of errors on the company's behalf. This is all highly unacceptable, and I am very disappointed with the customer service and my entire moving experience. What is the point of making a reservation if the unit is not held and available? Why would an employee tell me they will honor the 10x10 rate if I moved into two 5x10's? The first employee that helped me yesterday was also very unsympathetic and had zero empathy. Shane, the general manager, stepped in and did what he could to help, but it is a shame that corporate ties the employees' and managers' hands in a "make-good" scenario. Because of the "same size units to merge" restriction, U-Haul has denied me the most basic of customer expectations and given me a horrific experience. I am definitely not satisfied, and am expected (again) to pay more or inconvenience myself because of errors made by your company. My moving from Louisiana to PA started with me having to drive 29 extra miles to pick up my equipment. My pick-up reservation was made for a location 2 miles from my home in LA. U-Haul managed to screw up both my reservations on this contract, and I am expected to spend my time and money to cover your mistakes. Since I will have to spend time moving my belongings, I plan on moving them out of your facility entirely before the free month I received with truck rental is over. You've lost a long-term customer with excellent credit (>800) who always pays their bills. If I ever have to rent equipment again, you can also bet I will be seeking out alternatives. You are a terrible company who takes no responsibility for your own errors, and shifts the burdens onto your clients. Shame on you, U-Haul.WILLIAM P B. | First Impressions
