Make sure that whoever is responsible for checking trucks when they are check everything before calling the customer. For example, check to ensure that the contract and key is turned in and make sure that the truck number coincides with the contract. Then is all is done, there will be no need to contact the customer.

When the associate went to hook up the auto transport trailer to the truck, he found that the trailer had a damaged tire strap that had not been reported, and so the trailer had not been taken out of service. It took a while for him to move that one out of the way so he could access the one behind it, and then for him to go inside and swap out the trailers in the rental system. Whoever checked in the trailer after the previous customer should have reported the damage and taken the trailer out of service so it could be repaired.

This location has always been excellent, however the location I went to first was not. I went to the Cameron Street location and didn't realize it was an unmanned location; the website doesn't indicate this information. I called and got a reservation, but then couldn't get past the first step to gain access to the vehicle. I kept getting a message that said it couldn't find my location. I turned it off and back on on my phone several times trying to get it to work. I finally gave up and went to the 29th Street location.

Saturday 9/29/18 between 10 and 11 a.m., there seemed to be a staff shortage. There seemed to be issues with the customers at the counter that were taking quite a bit of time to resolve and the line was growing but not moving for a while. Staff was very courteous and helpful. I had reserved the rental truck in advance and did the Express checkout online but still the wait was pretty long.

When we arrived at the scheduled pick up time, they didn’t have the trailer we ordered. They first sent us to a different location and then back to this location where we waited until after 9:00.

The employees were profoundly unprofessional. When I arrived to pick up the van, the guy behind the counter was chatting with a friend, as if I wasn't there. The language they were using was the opposite of professional. Then, the clerk started to check me in, but was interrupted by another employee telling him to go back to the break room and see how another employee was eating chicken. So, without finishing my rental, he left, and I had to wait several minutes until he came back. Finally, I got my contract and went to retrieve the keys from one of the employees outside. Turns out she didn't have the keys. Yet another employee left the site with multiple sets of keys on her for some reason that was clearly not related to the business of U-hauls. They had to call her and I had to wait for her to come back to the site. What should have been a 10 minute process, turned into a 25 min process. Unprofessional doesn't sufficiency describe this group.

It took us 80 minutes to pick up our truck. We spent 50 minutes waiting in line with a half dozen other people, then 40 minutes filling out paperwork we had already done online. The computers were running so slow that each each step in the rental process took five minutes. The staff couldn’t figure out several different things related to pricing on a simple 4 hour local move using a credit card. They vastly under reported the gas levels. On returning the truck after driving it 20 miles, they couldn’t get the computers to refund us the unused blankets. We didn’t want to wait another two hours for them to maybe get it to work so we ate the cost. Will never ever rent from this location again.

The truck was clean but it had rained the night before and when I opened the truck to inspect it before I drove off with it we found a few puddles of water and had to get a mop to clean it. For safety reasons I had my husband drive because the brakes were almost non-existant. My husband had them almost to the floor when we had to brake and I kept praying that we would stop in time. We did notify the UHAUL representative when we returned the vehicle.
