The gentleman explained the procedure for everything very well; including billing, accessing the unit and restrictions such as food storage in the unit. When we arrived we found out the unit we had reserved was not available. Upsetting to say the least. Brandon was fantastic working with us and getting us in a different unit, tho smaller. I would recommend customers to take a picture of mileage before leaving with vehicle. I rented a pickup truck at 10:15 a.m. and returned it at 10:45 a.m. Google GPS had my mileage at less than 10 miles. When I returned the truck I was told I drove it 30 miles. I did not even have to put gas in the truck because the gas hand did not move. If I had driven the truck 30 miles, it would have needed gas before I returned the truck.PAMELA Z.

The Hickory NC location helped me out when another location in Statesville NC didn't have the truck as promised. I had to scramble to find this one 40 miles away. The Statesville location said my reservation had been cancelled . It was hard to find a one way on a Saturday but corporate line helped me.JOHN C.

When I arrived after hours to turn in the truck my instructions was to submit some information via my mobile device while I was still with the truck at the drop off location. This website for UHaul was not working and I was unable to connect. I called this location the next morning 5 times to make sure they found the truck on their lot, etc but they never answered. The vehicle I reserved and was confirmed was not available at the correct location. Instead of bringing the van to me, I had to drive the extra time and distance out of my way to get it. They also didn't have the hand truck I reserved and NEEDED. Online pickup and drop off was a pain.Joe H.

Why do I have to pay $5 Safe trip fee when I paid for insurance? (That's a rip off)GARY L.
When I picked up my truck it had , according to the fuel gauge 1/4 tank of fuel. I put in $15.00 of gas at $2.40 a gallon. The gauge never moved. When I returned it I told the inspector HAWK was his name, that the gauge didnt work because it never moved. He said he would reimburse me. I told him no need just wanted to make aware of the issue. he said my charge would be $116.00 . Then I got billed for $169.00. Tried to explain again to the lady i talked to but no results. WILL NEVER RENT AGAIN, AND I WILL MAKE SURE ANYONE I KNOW WONT RENT EITHERMICHAEL P.

This is the store I ordered from (542 Main, Hickory, NC) and the store I went to pick up the trailer, but they didn't have the reservation! I was grateful there was one there they were able to let me use. Hawkins was very helpful in transferring the reservation. I picked up the truck with just over half a tank of gas. Drove it approximately 10 miles total. When I received the bill I was charged for 17 gallons of gas. I won't be recommending this location to anyone.Michael M.

1. U-haul app did not work. I could not upload photos of wrong mileage and fuel level; and small dent on the front of the truck. I ended up calling the attendant onsite to help me. With a 9am appointment I only left the lot at 10:00. [I did only start the process at 9:10 after finding the truck]. 2. I ran late, because I started late. Might be charged for whole more day. 3. When I returned the truck I could upload photos, but because I could not upload the pictures in the am [which I still have] I was charged a fee for not fueling the truck. I indicated as much in the comments. Not sure what next steps will be. SUMMARY: I will NEVER use the app again. If it turns out it is the only way to rent without having to pay a 'convenience fee' I will take my business elsewhere. Using the app is not worth the hassle and aggravation. While I was struggling to check the truck out I remembered why we rented a Budget truck the last time we needed to haul stuff.Charmaigne V.

Aretha is the bomb! She excels in the definition of what customer service should be about. Her warm smile, enthusiasm, electric personality, & overall knowledge made our experience a wonderful one. So seldom in today’s society do we experience the love that Aretha showed towards us, her customer. I’m looking forward to our return visit in a couple weeks. I don’t what her compensation is but it’s probable not enough! This is the best experience I have ever had at a U-Haul or any other place of a customer service type business. I think U-Haul corporate should tap into her knowledge and personality to travel and help train & educate their corporate workforce. UHaul of Downtown Hickory exceeded my expectations. I had no problems at all there. The first time I stopped by to finalize my reservation during my initial move, the staff was friendly and helpful, and even called later to make sure I made it OK to my final destination an hour away in the mountains. The facility looked very clean every time I went there to drop off or pick up a few items for the months my items were in storage. The staff was helpful when I forgot how to use my access card between trips. The move-out process was easy and the staff was helpful. I haven't unpacked any of the boxes yet since I just picked them up yesterday, but during the move-out process, I didn't see any damage to the furniture or boxes I had stored.
