I tried to drop off my trailer at the U-Haul in Appomattox, VA but the people there were not helpful or friendly, and they would not give me a printed receipt. I said "No receipt? I'll take it elsewhere!" The guy said "Fine!". I took the trailer to the U-Haul depot on RT460 at the airport and they told me to take it to this location, which I did. They were great. Two women took care of everything, and I got my printed receipt. Thank you.JOSPEH T.

The truck I picked up was clean but low on fuel. When I tried to put fuel in to return it I found a huge leak in the tank filler tube that had previously been improperly repaired. The clerk at the drop off location was nice but seemed inexperienced when I tried to explain the problem. Barring the fueling issue I would have given a much higher rating.Ronald D.

My rating above only pertains to the convenient location and vehicle, you will see why as you read on. Your website and Share 24/7 did not work! For starters, I registered an account last week, the site would not accept the password for pickup and had to reset it. The site could not find me, even after scanning the location bar code?? Yes, I had the location services allowed on my i-phone. Ultimately, I had to wait until the store opened and go thru the process with the manager. Fortunately, the store opened within 30 min of when I went to pick up the truck. I had no issues with the vehicle or staff. Your "help line" never answered the phone for over 20 min.?? Also, I was intending to rent a storage unit on this site, the website showed what i needed, when I called to verify i was told the unit was way overbooked and not available!! And, it was on the 4th floor AND, the elevator was out with no fix intended. Glade I called, bad way to run a business.RICHARDARTHUR M.

The staff were so rude. The young gentleman helping me had no idea how to answer my question regarding why my invoice didn't match price on credit card machine. The lady standing beside him told me "If you would read the screen you would see the extra $100 comes off on the next screen" (she was so irritated for some reason about my question) I said I just looked at the total why was it so hard to answer my question? She went on further to tell me if it were her credit card she would read everything so that was my problem. Needless to say, it got ugly from there on my part for sure. I even had to go back in after all that to ask for the moving blankets I had paid for and was not given. I will NEVER rent a UHaul again. The unit I rented was great, but if that is how customers are treated, this company will definitely never see money from me or my family again. The ONLY reason I proceeded with the transaction was I had to have the vehicle.Angela P.

The managing locations were fine with my experience. However, my experience with Uhaul itself was horrible and I will never use this company again. Not having a vehicle close to my desired pickup location resulted in an additional 2 hours to my very long moving day. Telling me this less than 24 hours ahead of time gave me no other alternatives. The man who checked us out was helpful and quick but not very professional as he smoked his cigar around us and in the truck as he was inspecting the truck for turn in. I am highly allergic to cigarette/cigar smoke - so was very unhappy to have the young man blowing smoke around me as he was getting us taken care of. i have called 4 times and emailed after i was charged for the month that i vacated (and was told that i would not be charged by the associate at the facility when we moved out) the unit and have not heard back from anyone- the local facility doesnt answer their phones and lets them go to the call center. the call center says they send a message to the local facility and yet after 4 calls and being on hold an average of 28 minutes each time i still havent heard from anyone regarding the credit. have sumbitted my complaint to the credit card companyNina J. | Overall Experience

I had not ever rented anything from U-Haul before and I thought the process was easy, and the woman who helped us at this location was wonderful. This drop off place was totally unprofessional. We took the truck to drop off and the man in charge did not know what to do. He did not inspect the truck or anything. Truck had a check engine light as soon as I started it up. Associate told me to take it or leave it and didn't even make an effort to find a solution to the issue, she was rude and seemed entirely unconcerned about the faulty and potentially dangerous state of the equipment I was promised on that date. I asked if there was another truck at another location or a larger size somewhere and she kept repeating that my only choice was to either not take the truck (potentially costing me a job) and leave, or take my chances. I will NEVER recommend UHaul or use their services again.Andrew J.

The staff had sprinkled rat killer into my unit from above. And several of my items were stained. And I was also told by call centers, if I had lost my key, someone on site would have bolt cutters. When asked, they said "no, they don't do that". And when I asked to do a final walk thru, while I was there, since I no longer lived in the area, the person in charge looked like she was being put out. The available space for parking, picking up/returning trucks can be very tight on a busy day. For perspective, if two 26' trucks were to arrive at the same time, forget about parking. If you have a storage rental, you may not be able to get to the gate. Overall, the service I received was no problem at all.Kerwin S.

I was charged another day for bringing in the truck 13 minutes after the 24 hour expiration of the 1 day rental period. There were plenty of truck s in the lot so no one was waiting for the truck. Every other rentAl scenario I've been involved with provided at least a 1 hr grace period. The 2nd day of bulling for 13 min left a bad impression of the whole experience.DAVID H.

My contract was from 1-5 and I returned the truck at 8. I was charged for a whole extra day when I didn't have the truck for 24 hrs. The assistant manager Tanya who wasn't very understanding and willing to help in any way. Asked to speak to a manager and after back and forth with the assistant she became agitated and finally transferred me to the manager. The manager then agreed it was messed up but still did nothing. I will never rent from this local again but still need an adjustment. I understand I did not bring it back during my contract but definitely didn't deserve to be charged for services I didn't utilize. I booked a rental unit for this location online, signed the rental agreement paid the fees and received a confirmation with an access code and instructions to my rental unit. I drove all the way from Chattanooga to Lynchburg thinking I have a rental unit, only to come to this location and have to deal with the awful staff. I went into the store to request help, as the access code texted to me was not working. The staff at this location lacked the very basic understanding of customer service - the lady at the counter would not even offer to help or at least start by gathering some basic information from me (name, reservation number, etc) - she kept on saying U-HAUL has a nationwide system failure and they have no units available and that my reservation was an error. She spent more time and energy saying there is nothing she or anyone else can do to help me rather than just take 3 minutes to look up my information. Appalling! A young man with an airpod in his ear chilling in this chair was initially interested in helping me, but lacked even the basic understanding of how an online reservation works. Both of them started to say I need to look for another U-haul location (again neither of them even bothered look up my information). I kept on saying, please help me I drove here all the way from chattanooga, I have a unit reserved here. Unbelievably poor customer service - or should I say no customer service! Disheartened I left and was making calls in the parking lot when the facility manager approached me. She asked for my name and offered to help me. AGAIN, JUST THE FACT THAT THIS MANAGER ASKED FOR MY NAME AND RESERVATION INFORMATION - IT'S A MIRACLE! She looks up my information confirms my reservation, hands me the keys to my unit. I am sure the manager alone can run the whole place by herself and she probably does. But, that not promising, if she was not there or did not happen to see me frustrated in the parking lot, then there was no hope to resolve my issue - the two employees at the counter who were too incompetent to do basic information gathering and problem solving would have caused a much more unsatisfied customer for U-haul. Another note, your lack of employee training (which the manager offered as an excuse for her teams performance is not the customer's problem). You are charging a fee to offer a service - here is a tip - offer the service you charged me for. I picked U-HAUL because it's a national company and comes with certain amount of standardization. This location and the crew I dealt with obviously are not part of the national standards. I do not recommend this location.Archana M. | Online Move In

We were leased a 4th floor space, but no one told us the freight elevator was broken. Showed up to check in in preparation for a big moving day where we were going to store several commercial pieces of equipment. Once informed the freight elevator was broken with no estimation of repair date, I was leased a different space with the note that the door was just "hard to open". Later when I came with a truck to unload, I was told that the door was actually off the track and could not be closed! Again, no estimate of when it would be repaired and no other adequately sized units. I was left scrambling with several employees to coordinate to find another storage facility that could get us in immediately. Unbelievable! I must emphasize that the two ladies who helped me were very accommodating and kind and did everything they could. This is a management/ownership problem and they're stuck dealing with the fallout.
