My Uhual experience was very poor. I reserved a truck Orange NJ and that reservation was confirmed however when i went to pick up the truck i was told there no trucks available. I was then rerouted to Elizabeth NJ to pick up available truck. This was very time consuming and resulted in me having to move my furniture very late on a sunday night. It was not until 10pm when i finally returned the truck. The Elizabeth Location was very friendly and accomodating however the entire experience was absolute shit. Poor management on the part of uhual resulted in me having to drive further and incur more expenses. Whats the point of having a confirmed reservation?

If you do the express checkout with your information on line they should not have to make you go over your information when you get there especially if you entered your license and credit card information on line. They should ask for your ID and confirm address and if payment information is correct.

I reserve the truck Thursday , for Saturday Morning 9am I when to the shop , I was waiting to 9:45 to open then I call to the store number and he told me he is out to the businesses and he doesn't have Trucks anymore I call the customer services and they game another location and a small truck a lost 3 hours and I had the move people waiting for me .

I was lied to by two employees at this location. The van had a very strong stench of urea/ uric acid ( perhaps the prior renter was carrying birds?) which had my asthma and allergies on overdrive. I have video - had to drive with a mask on. Agents never verified van prior to rental which made me liable for an incorrect fue level. Horrible experience.

Try to make customers happy by all means and don't let anyone feel reaped off because my recent experience was pretty bad which am not happy about and I have always been a customer because is the only place I rent trucks from. I took a 10" truck from the above location on Wednesday to pick up a piece of cough from Elizabeth and drop it in Newark for about 2 hrs and I even told the associate what I was gonna need the truck for because it can't fit in my car as my trunk is pretty small. I was given an estimated charged then the next morning I saw another $25 charge on my card indicating cleaning charge I was which threw me off I was pissed I called to speak to the manager they won't let me only the associate at customer service will speak to me and promise that someone is gonna be calling me in 24 to 36hrs but nobody did to date so I felt cheated which is unacceptable. I don't mind paying but make me pay for something am responsible of. When I gat the truck it was used they said it was the only available one at that moment the fuel was quarter tank I used it and went by the gas station to replenish even went over board and give you more than I should because it was half tank when I took it back the same day. So why should I get charge for the truck to get clean and all I have in that truck is a piece of furniture for 2 hrs. I tried to get explanation but nobod

In prove customer relations,. I was actually hung up on twice, disconnected numerous times and given the wrong pick up address. Of the many u haul employees I spoke to over two days all but one were very unprofessional, rude, rushed and uninformed. I am not exaggerating.

The text message said the truck would be ready at 8:30 AM. When I got there it was clear that they were not really open for business until 9 AM. However, Andre (only employee present on Sunday AM) went ahead and got us going pretty quickly and before 9AM. Although it worked out weel, this was not my preferred pickup (again). Preferred was less than a mile from where I was packing up.

Gas gauge was broken. Told me truck was out of gas 10 mins after i received the truck. Gear shift was slipping thru out the move. Dam shame i had no choice but to use this truck because that was the last one of the size i needed. To top it off i made one trip with my move which was about 5 miles from my old place filled gas tank with $20 and attend told me it wasn't enough gas for returning the truck so i can either pay $14 more automatically or go put more gas. Mind you he was also told about the gas issues i had from jump. Dont that tell you something is wrong with your truck and not my money. I put $28 dollors of gas as a total. Never again thats all i can say.

Either allow furniture pads and dollies for one-way rentals, or inform me BEFORE the day of the rental that you won't rent those items out for one-ways. Luckily the attendant was nice enough to let me bring them back by car after I was done with the move.

Please refer to customer service complaint reference #1458902. I had a very poor experience at this store today, picking up in the morning was very good but when returning the truck things got wrong from the customer service view. When I entered the store to drop the truck a gentleman took my keys and prompted a review, after few minutes he comes back very rude asking me to fold the pads which I didn't know I was suppose to since it's not in the contract. Myself and my friend we both went back to the truck to fold it and came back inside the store, the same gentleman was eating and when I told him that we finished folding he became very aggressive I guess because he was interrupted his eating, I felt very uncomfortable by his reaction, very unprofessional, Its hard to believe Uhaul train staff to treat customers that way. The same gentleman got up from his chair and went to recheck these pads, after 5 minutes he called another associate and start screaming at the employee and came to us making judgmental comments about the way we folded the pads. Now I just checked my CC statement and noticed an extra $140 charge for missing pads?!! That's crazy and I can't believe this is happening, I hope you guys can check your cameras because beside the way I was tested at your store now I feel 10x worst. Thank you

I am a disabled person with end stage renal disease and cancer. I recently had to make a decision to move back in with family because I could no longer live alone. I rented out a UHaul truck to move my belongings. I was shcoked to find out that my final bill was doubled as to what I had budgeted to pay. I was charged a penalty fee for not filling up the gas tank to 1/4 of full. On top of that I was charged $15 for refueling. There is NO WAY on earth that I spent $15 on gas on the short distance that truck was driven. These fees that were tacked on to my bill were ridiculous and I had no knowledge of these fees in advance. As I mentioned, I am a disabled person who spends most of his time in dialysis and chemotherapy and have no time for pretty much anything else as I am totallly exhausted after treatments. When I first went in to set up the appointment, I worked with Omar who was EXCELLENT! Very friendly and accommodating. When I went to pick up my truck, they were clearly understaffed and only 1 gentleman was working. He was very professional yet clearly quite flustered. We were there for over an hour just trying to pick up a truck in which we had an appointment for.

They had me signing a paper taking a clean trailer. I made the guy go outside and the trailer was a mess. Debris in it and it had to be swept. Several dings on the fenders as well. Trailer door stuck on the way up. I watched one of their guys back a large (24'?) truck into another one. Wonder if a customer get charged or how much damage there was.

I had asked questions concerning the truck I would be using, but the Uhaul representative not clear in his answers. In addition, the price I reserved the truck with online was different than what I was given at Uhaul. I was unaware that if I do not return the truck with 1/4 tank of gas, I would be charged $20-plus dollars. The experience prior to this was was a good one, but this experience was poor.

I've always rented here with no issues. This weekend i went to pick up the truck and the previous customer was 1 hr late with the truck that i was supose to rent. The customer then decided to keep the truck until Monday. There were no trucks in the lot. The manager Omar was very helpfull. He went way beyond to help me and resolved the issue within 1 hr.. The customer representative knew his job well and was quick in handling the transaction. When I went to get my rental trailer, I noticed the trailer was bestdown. I saw a better maintained trailer. I asked to use it, but I was told "No" because someone was picking it up in 4 hours. I come late at night after closing to return my trailer and the nice trailer was sitting in the exact same place. The trailer I had, had issues with lowering the side fender and raising because of the bends on it fender. The trailer tirea were not balanced and at 50 mph my truck would shake. I know its not my vehicle, due to driving at 65mph without the trailer and not feeling anything.

Had reserved vehicle at this location ahead of time. When we arrived, there was no vehicle for us. Sent to another location, no vehicle for us. Went to another location and we finally had success. Don't know why you have scheduling ahead of time when the vehicle will not be there. Wasted 3 hours trying to get a vehicle when it should have been there at the get go. Very disappointed.

I would like to take this opportunity to give a special thank you to Omar, the store manager at this U-Haul location. This is my second time interacting with Omar and each experience has been welcoming, pleasant and caring. Omar really made my move much more bearable. I even tried to give him a $20 tip as a thank you and Omar refused. He is such a kind person. Custmer Care is truly hard to find. I am glad it was found here with Omar. I will always recommend this U-haul location. Make sure you ask for Omar!!!

I placed an online reseveration. It still took a half hr to receive the truck. The gentleman who helped me seemed poorly trained in the rental department. I was charged for a doily they didn't even have available. When I bought it up, an adjustment was made, however, I ended being over charged. I have to wait 3-5 days for the charges to be correct or return to the store. More staff should be available at this location esp around the beginning and end of the month.

I need to call out the entire staff but Joanna in particular. This team worked together like a well oiled machine with a great deal of calm under pressure (as the store was very crowded.) Joanna was tasked with informing me that my rental had been canceled because I was late but not only was she compassionate; she presented me with other options and was able to accommodate my needs. Im very upset and disappointed with the gas charges done after i brough the vehicle back to the facility. I put the appropiate gas amount and the next morning i get charged $10 for the missing gas. I made sure I put the right amount of gas. Besides the miles when i received the truck were different. The employee who gave me the truck made a note of that. Omar's customer service is amazing, and he's hilarious on top of it. I don't understand why a 2 floor storage facility doesn't have some type of elevator, but when we realised our room was on the second floor and we realised we couldn't get our stuff to it. He transferred us to a more accessible room on the first floor. I would definitely recommend this place to someone else.

Clerk Johanna was EXCELLENT, as always. I've rented there in a few occasions. This is my last, nonetheless. Truck was filthy dirty. In the cab smelled like cheap cigarettes and had ashes all over, and the back was no different. Also, when I picked up the truck it had 0.4 more miles on odometer than printed on my contract. I didn't think it was a big deal, thinking they rounded it up. Well... when I returned it my miles showed whatever the number of miles .3, and guess what, I got charged for the 0.3 difference. (Needless to say. It not about the money, but the principal). Last but not least.... when I returned the guys took descent care of my, but were very unprofessional. Eating their sandwiches on the counter right in front of me. If it weren't for the lovely Johanna, I'd give this location a "zero".

TLDR: If you use moving help, follow-up with U-haul a few days before the move to make sure everything is schedule correctly. The moving help scheduling from the departure point worked perfectly. The scheduling of moving help at the destination was a horrible experience. We received our 2 pods 2 days late. I passed the better part of the 1st late day on the phone with U-Haul employees which 50% would tell me that it is impossible to schedule moving help, and the other 50% telling me it is very common but could not due to system error. I had to schedule everything with the actual movers themselves which had to come after their work day to help us out. Props to them for helping out, but U-haul was surprisingly useless at dealing with the situation as opposed to how well it was handled on the moving out day. I would have rated the service 5 stars, but considering how this exception was handled, I cannot give more than 3.

I will not recommend this place reason being the customer service was unacceptable. The agent who checked me in who i believe his name was Darrell busby( the individual at the counter) was very rude. He lacked customer service made me feel like i was an inconvinience to him. His exact words to me was " you are giving me more work than i should be doing"because i accidently pressed a button on the pad. For no reason no customer should be treated this way. He was unprofesional, rude and had no care whatsoever for the customers.

Sales associate Mr. Omar Sullivan was an excellent help in providing me with the best care and service. I was in a situation where I needed a storage unit and a moving truck. My family and I did not know what was going to happen to our furniture and I was really in need. First and foremost he had the most pleasant voice where it made me feel comfortable explaining my situation and then he worked with me to make sure I was able to afford everything in my budget. Neither less to say he provided with the store information just in case I may have any issues but everything was excellent and right on time. I would recommend his service and the Uhaul services to anyone who needs it. He is one of the sales associate who is a team player and would tell any customer to go and see him if they need someone with exceptional service and quality. I went to this location on Sherman Ave in Elizabeth after I asked to go to a different location and it was downhill from there. I get to the location and the young man that helped me was very courteous but I was not able to get the equipment that I needed due to it being a one way trip. That is something that they need to tell you when you are reserving the u haul. I was only able to get 1 hand dolly after ordering three and no furniture movers after I ordered one and as I was telling this to the young man that was helping me his other co worker with coffee in hand can from his computer to lean against the desk and "watch" what he thought was going to be a show. Very unprofessional behavior.

just make it more clear where you are supposed to park when returning the truck I wasn't sure where to tell my husband to park it ...then the drop off box is green ..yes it says drop off but it should say UHAUL KEY DROP OFF to be sure because at 3am when you're tired after moving all night and things are not clear you are not sure of what to so ... I took a chance by dropping the key off there ..I think there was another business next door which the key drop of could have applied to them

Uhaul said they would call us to confirm our pick up location for a one-way cargo van, but no-one ever called. We had to call to find out where to pick up our reserved cargo van. Then we got there and the guy says we can't take it one-way. Why do you let me reserve a van if I can't have one anyhow? And why did I go to that location for a specific equipment, and then it was still not possible to rent? Forced to take a 10 foot truck. Had to pay more fuel costs, more toll charges and Uhaul should pay for that! Uhaul, you owe me $20! And I am not kidding, you really do.

The wait time in line to talk to pick up the truck and talk to a cashier was long it would help if this process could be improved. Also, the employees that are outside should have Jackets and IDs that actually identify who they are and who they work for. There needs to be large and clear identification so that people know who works there and who might be just passing through or just hanging around. UHall jackets would be a good start and official ID cards with the company logo would help as well.

My rental unit is on the top level of the facility and I am extremely disappointed to find that there is no way to get there except by STAIRS. No elevator. REALLY!

Did not like having pest traps in my unit, could have used a light to see inside the unit otherwise great experience - easy to get in and out and facility was safe and felt clean overall

They are impossible to get ahold of. I tried to contact U-Haul in Elizabeth NJ for 4 days before I finally got someone to pick up my boxes.

Upon obtaining a storage unit, I was under the assumption that this facility was secure. My storage unit was broken into.
