It was unprofessional. The man that hooked up the trailer ignored me and had his back to me the entire time while he talked to my mom's boyfriend. He referred to him and asked him all the questions even though I was the paying customer.felt like because I was a women I wasn't smart enough or something. When j dropped off the lady that unhooked the trailer proceeded to talk about another customer with me and complain about them. The. Tell me how she needed new shoes because she dropped a hitch the previous week on her foot. Very unprofessional

Everyone at U-Haul Moving & Storage in Elmira Heights, NY was very helpful and friendly. I was able to bump my pick up time ahead with no problem. I did however have a big issue with the smell in the van I was given. The vehicle had a nauseating smoke stench. U-Haul should be ashamed to rent this vehicle to anyone. U-Haul should institute a no smoking policy like rental car companies, and hotels. If you smoke in a vehicle there is an automatic $250 dollar charge to your credit card so the rest of us do not have to endure the stench like was imbedded in the van I had. The folks at this Elmira Heights location were very understanding, and did give me a break on the total price because of this issue. I thank them, do not blame them for the smell in my vehicle and would recommend this location to those needing to rent.

When I called ahead and inquired about whether I could pay online, I was told yes by a representative from this location. The rep from this location gave me instructions on how to insert credit card info via online, however it was just mobile check in. In order to pay online, I had to switch my reservation from an in town to a one way.

Initially the Elmira store said they couldn't deliver the pod on the agreed date. It took some pushing to get the manager to make the extra effort required to stay on schedule. In the end he did, very creatively.

Very rude staff. We reserved the truck for 24 hours and was told we only had the truck for 10 hours when we went to pick it up despite confirming the day before. I had emailed and text confirmation that we had the truck for 24 hours but they did not seem to care. They were extremely rude throughout the entire process.

The return website did not work and when the staff came out (they just closed), they refused to even speak to me or acknowledge my presence. The only response I got when I said “the return website is having trouble, can I just leave the keys in the box” was “well....I guess.” The entire time she had he back to me walking away. I felt like I wasn’t valued at all.

Was told I drove 60 miles when I went from Corning Rd to Upland Dr in Elmira then over to 726 W Second in Elmira then back to corning rd location. First the person that checked me in smoked while I was standing there. Really unprofessional. When I disputed the mileage she said well that’s what it is. I will say the manager on duty at the time I returned questioned my trip. He actually heard me out and we went back and forth and compromised. I thought at the end he was competent and heard my case and did a great job.

Gave away our reservation, made us drive 40 mins out of the way to get another trailer. We even called and spoke to rep about picking it up later in the day. The general manager was smug/arrogant/rude. We used Uhaul alot but will not be using the Ithaca NY branch ever again and will deter anyone we know from using Uhaul in the future. They would not even let us file an objection for the fees.

Elmira store and staff were amazing!!! Staff at the Ithaca branch should all be retrained on costumer service and scheduling they suck especially the owner/manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The experience was horrible and extremely stressful because U-haul in Elmira and Binghamton were not helpful at all. We got in a bad situation, so our move had to postpone one day because no one at U-haul was helpful. Our move was supposed to be completed on Friday. On Saturday, we made countless calls and repeatedly asked U-haul to help us. Our phones batteries died in the afternoon because U-haul continued to play games with us all day until after 5:30pm when we finally had things worked out ON OUR OWN. When U-haul's roadside assistance finally came about 30 mins later, they informed us that U-haul told them that our cargo trailer was abandoned and our things needed to go to a dumpster. We were shocked to hear that - we obviously never mentioned anything about our trailer being abandoned. We were lucky to get all of our things inside the house we moved in before it rained hard on Saturday night. We also had thunderstorms. The move was already hard and U-haul made it a lot harder. I ended up becoming sick with fever due to the extra stress U-haul has caused. I hope U-haul reads this comment, learn their mistakes, and make a huge improvement. From now on, I'll be using a different company because I cannot trust U-haul ever again.

I did a one way truck rental to Elmira, and wanted to use the free month of storage. First I was forced to buy an $11 lock despite having my own, and then the unit smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.

Go to another office. This branch has no customer service and has a lot of inaccuracies that will affect your pocket ( not giving you full tank gas but charging you for it) . Have inaccurate drop off location.

When I placed the order for my truck, online it allowed me to rent it for 72 hours. When I went to pick it up, I was told it was only allowed to be rented for 10 hours at a Time and if I needed it the next day, I would have to come back and re-rent it. When I asked why it said the rental was for 3 days, the manager replied “ because it’s online” insinuating that not all things online are true. Therefore, I could only rent the van and it was not the size I needed. I was very disappointed and I cannot say that I would recommend u-haul or use it again.

The staff were all knowledgeable and courteous (I met Michael on 5/8, and I was assisted by a man and a woman on 5/10 and 5/11, although I didn't get their names); they are all a credit to your company. However, the national reservation center remains an embarrassment to your company, often not knowing what equipment is available at a particular location. I prefer to deal directly with your various centers, but I can't call them directly, which is a problem-- calls are automatically routed to the national reservation center.

My original Reservation Number was 20024192, for a 15' truck for 48 hours. I arrived to pick up the truck only to be told they didn't have one. The manager drove me to the Elmira Heights store and told me they would take care of me there. After waiting for ten minutes to even be acknowledged, (when there were two U-Haul employees assisting a single customer) I explained the situation, assuming they were already aware that I would be arriving. They had not been informed and proceeded to tell me they could not help me. I asked them to work it out. They called a manager and told me they could help, but they could only rent a truck for 24 hours, not the 48 hours I had originally reserved. Left with no other option, I rented a 17' truck for 24 hours. Upon returning the truck I again had to wait almost ten minutes to be acknowledged, when there were two U-Haul employees as the counter assisting one customer. I have rented trucks from U-Haul in the past, as well as Penske. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had.

There was one person there to process customers ( unless more staff were out back and never came up front) Had about a 35-40 minute wait for just ONE person in front of me who was ordering a hitch....the next in line finally gave up and left. Get this guy some help, not the first time its been slow as molasses there!!!!

It would of been 5 star but I was told when I reserved it a few days early that I can have it for 24 hours but when I got there a few days later I was told I can only use it for up to 10 hours this was a 15 foot truck I was told this about was very disappointing I was lied to when I set it up

I reserved the truck on Saturday, the clerk said a truck would be available if they were returned as expected. I was told to call Sunday AM to verify. The attendant on Sunday scolded me when I called to check STATING I WAS LATE FOR MY RESERVATION, all of 20 minutes. When I arrived I the person (who looks as if he had not bathed in days) continued to be rude, made no attempt to realize I was the paying customer and began to be abrasive. I called the owner and left a voice mail complaint that has not been returned. THERE WAS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS BEHAVIOR IF I HAVE ANOTHER CAUSE TO RENT A TRUCK IT WILL NOT BE FROM UHAUL

The only thing was that, the online reservation system. It let me rent something at another location. That location did not have the van for the reservation. So I was sent to another location Elmira Heights NY. There I was taken care of.

I have used long term Climate Controlled Storage Units in other states, including Uncle Bobs in Ohio, ExtraSpace in Kentucky and Guardian Storage in Pennsylvania. This U-Haul location was the best!
