Rented a pickup truck for 24 hours and couldn't make it back in time so Spoke to someone at uhaul customer service and they agreed to extend my rental from 9-4. I agreed to the charges for the extra time. I then received call from the store I rented it from saying they needed it back by 1030 for a 11 rental. I rushed over to the store to return it. I had returned it at 1040 and was still charged for the extra time I agreed to for the 4 o'clock rental time by customer service. I raised concern with whom I believed was the store manager and he said there was nothing he could do to refund the extra charges because I was a half hour over. I was also told that the gas was at 1/2 by the associate who rented to me and I returned it as such. I was charged 4 dollars gas fee because the record showed 9/16. I called customer service the day I returned it and it didn't get anywhere. On top of the poor customer service experience the truck I had rented looked like it hadn't been cleaned since it was new. I've rented from uhaul 4 times in the last year but after this experience I won't be going to this location again.RYAN H.

2 Problems: Reserved through central customer service w. Email confirmation Apparent lack of integration of inventory bet. Central and local. Last minute,local said we coul.d have truck for only 1 day when two reserved for 3 days. We kept truck anyways to travel 1000 miles. Stress. Neither central nor local seemed to understand the gravity of their jobs. Also , Ihaul won't allow1 way rentals out of NYS. We drove it back, our sweat and our dime. Why not be good sports, show a little savvy and direct our business over to Penske:, which claims on paper prospectively to offer 1 way out of NYS. Was told fuel level was full, it was not. But had to return after hours so I filled It. The total cost from where the gauge was and full was $16 more (have photos of not full gas gauge) rented a truck a week ago and gas gauge was wrong then too had photos to prove it and they agreed it was wrong. Could not check in with the app on 2 phones even after following the instructions. Called 800 to let someone know I could not check in and was on hold for over 10 mins hung up. Everything was fine until after leaving the facility and arriving home (19.4 miles) there was a text message on my phone giving instructions to register my rental before I left Uhaul.. When I took the keys for the truck the woman who took my credit card information etc. did not mention to check my phone for a message before I left.. The text message at this point would not let me in. I assume the message was about confirming the condition and mileage of the truck. When I returned the truck and checked the mileage I was told I had driven 98.4 miles. This is more than double what I actually drove. I have checked my exact route with google maps and I drove 50 miles. I will also drive the same route with my car to confirm. I was very angry and actually used some foul language with the man who checked me back in - I believe the manager. I told him my exact route and he questioned whether I had confirmed the mileage prior to leaving the business. I explained the text situation. He stated, "I have no way of verifying where you drove," and charged me .79 cents per mile for 98.4 miles = $77.74. The actual distance was almost exactly 50 miles - more than 50% off and an additional fee of $39.50. I want to be reimbursed for this amount. I am an honest person and would not go to this effort if I did not feel absolutely that I have been wronged. Actual mileage breakdown: 1. Uhaul to 9 Fox Lane West, Painted Post, NY = 19.4 miles 2. 9 Fox Lane to 178 E. 2nd St, Corning, NY. 4.8 miles 3. Return to 9 Fox Lane Painted Post. 4. 8 Fox Lane to Uhaul in Elmire Heights, NY 19.4 miles = 50.0 miles It took 7,044 gallons to totally top the tank. Of course Uhaul management knows a 20 foot gas truck does not get over 14 miles/gallon. In fairness to the Uhaul manager, he remained very calm and polite while I was certainly an angry customer. Nice facility. Staff is not very good with computer. I was charge not once but twice a 15.00 late fee when i originsally set up for electronic payment with both units.. I had 3 units and rented several trucks to move... Consider myself a good customer Definately not happy with a no pro rate policy. I rented 3 units and two of them were over 8 months. I did a reservation online. Upon pick up, they asked all the questions I already answered online and gave us a different drop off location. They also tried charging us the one-way rate (it was about $125) but online it only would have been $40. Ultimately we ended up paying $80, more than double what was stated in the online reservation. Follow through with what was scheduled. I scheduled a 26' truck to be picked up in Painted Post for a move from Painted Post south 20 miles to PA. I was told a couple of days before the move a truck would not be available in Painted Post but I would have to pick it up in Elmira.. Even though my mileage total was now doubled, no refund was given. When pointed out that I would now Incur an additional $40 in charges of no fault of my own, the uhaul person shrugged his shoulders and said sorry. I asked for two sets of blankets, I only used one, again no refund. Seems like You guys think you are the only game in town. The cargo van was available, and ready to go as soon as I arrived. Easy pick up and easy drop off. I was able to move out all of my stuff. The representative behind the counter was also friendly, and easy to work with. I saw a good amount of negative reviews about this location on Google, so I was a bit nervous, but I had a very positive experience. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the van was a little dirty in the back, but nothing a good vacuum couldn't take care of. I'd rent again from this location.Shubham T.

the windshield of the truck i rented was filthy. as i was leaving the parking lot into the setting sun, i could not see well enough to continue. i returned to the customer service area where the attendant smeared the grime around the windshield with a dirty rag. it was a slight improvement. i wish i could share a picture. at my destination, i noticed something hanging from the rear bumper near the trailer hitch. it was an 8x10x3/8 steel reinforcing plate associated with the hitch. it was dangling from one bolt, with the nut just a couple of loose turns from coming off. the other 9 bolts were long gone, probably ended up in another vehicle's windshield. if this plate had come loose on the highway it could have been absolutely leathal if it had struck a following vehicle. these were two very dire safety issues. the truck i rented should never have been allowed to leave the lot.JOSEPHF B.

Wait times were extremely long, we were told we would have a 10x20x10 unit and this location does not even offer that size. They had once in left of the 10x15x10 and when we went to lock it up the lock was broken. An employee has to come with a hammer to get it closed and asked us to come back the following day so we could be there when they changed the lock. Very inconvenient. We haven’t gone back yet. I tried to add my husband to our storage unit reservation and no one could help me. I couldn’t get a hold of anyone at the store and kept going to customer service finally a lady sent a message to the store to have someone call us.
