The guy there when I went to pick up the trailer was extremely RUDE and confrontational. I was coming from out of state so I paid the rental in full and also signed in before I went to pick up the equipment. When I came in he said "your late you were supposed to pick it up at 8am. I should have rented it to someone else" Totally unnecessary since the trailer was already paid for. Just plain nasty attitude. I will NEVER return to that location.Robert M.

There are two things that really bothered me. In an email I received from uhaul, it was stated that I qualified for my first months rental of a storage unit for free. However, this was entirely not true; I had to pay for my first months rental and I would get a second months rental for free. Another falsehood was that, I could store gas powered equipment so long as the gas and oil had been drained from the equipment. But when I got to the uhaul facility in NY I was told that the storage of such equipment was not allowed under any circumstance, drained or not. If I had known this in advance, I would not have bothered to load such equipment, there by wasting space on the uhaul truck I had rented. I reserved a trailer for pick up in Ithaca, New York. Otto days before pick up, I was told that the trailer was not available in Ithaca, but in Albany (one hour away). Annoying to say the least. That afternoon, I received an updated confirmation from Albany, but for a larger trailer that was too heavy for my car to pull. I called U-Haul back again, at which point they â€œfoundâ€ a trailer now available in Elmira (30 minutes in the opposite direction). The crew in Elmira was excellent and very helpful. This location was fine. I was pleased with the Customer Service and the equipment, but I had a a strange experience with U-Haul; I was contacted several times by E-Mail, Text and Phone. 1st. I was told that the Car Hauler that I reserved at the Elmira Heights Location was not available and I would have to go to Sayre Pa. to pick one up. This didn't make sense that the employee in Elmira Heights would reserve a Car Hauler that they didn't have so I pushed the issue and finally got it straightened out because going to Sayre would have been a Major Inconvenience. 2nd. I got a text for a 6 hour rental. This surprised me because my previous rentals for trailers and tow dollies were always 24 hours. I once again had to call U-Haul and straiten this out because 6 hrs. was "cutting it close". Luckily I was able to extend the rental period but it consumed more of my time. As I indicated above; I'm very pleased with the Elmira Heights Location, but I'm rather Disappointed with U-Haul in General.Thomas R.

The alarm was always set off and no one came to see if there was a problem. Not to mention it not being turned off so we would have to leave when we didn't set it off. Unless we wanted our ears shattered. The staff didn't enforce face masks so people would come into the building not wearing one. They would stand in the doorway so that others could not even keep a 6 good distance. We turned around and left more than once as we didn't feel safe to go inside. I had called to ask about bigger units being available and I was told they were and to come in to get one. When O got there they said they weren't available and that nothing had been rented that day. Book a reservation for a 26ft truck two weeks before I needed it. A couple days before I get a call from the Syracuse call center saying I can't have that size truck because it's not available. I was assured by the location since I was booking so far in advance that it wouldn't be a problem. Perfect example of one hand not knowing what the other is doing. I was not able to rent a Cargo Van because I did not have a major credit card to place a hold. I feel that this practice is discriminatory. I had more than enough money available to cover the charges on my debit card. I was advised that I could pay with my debit card but not secure the actual rental. I had to upgrade to a 10 foot truck which was unnecessary for my needs and more expensive per mile. Many people do not have credit cards for a myriad of reasons. Preventing them from renting specific vehicles and forcing them to rent something unsuited to their needs and more expensive is exclusionist based on social class.Echo B.

Went into this location a day ahead of time to reserve truck for 24 hours. When I went in to pick up truck, I was told that I could only have it for 10 hrs. as they had apparently double booked the vehicle. After much frustration, the person taking care of me made alternate arrangements so that I could have truck for the time I needed it. Trailer lights worked on initial check while at the location. Shortly afterwards the turn signals stopped working - staying on solid; both coming on when left OR right was activated; brake lights on when no brake applied, etc. Seemed to be some type of loose connection. Individual who dispatched the trailer to us was very pleasant, provided helpful information about the trailer and the coverage options, and completed the required information quickly. Wait times were extremely long, we were told we would have a 10x20x10 unit and this location does not even offer that size. They had once in left of the 10x15x10 and when we went to lock it up the lock was broken. An employee has to come with a hammer to get it closed and asked us to come back the following day so we could be there when they changed the lock. Very inconvenient. We haven’t gone back yet. I tried to add my husband to our storage unit reservation and no one could help me. I couldn’t get a hold of anyone at the store and kept going to customer service finally a lady sent a message to the store to have someone call us.
