This was the second location we went to on the day of our pickup. About an hour before we received notice that our original pickup location did not have the furniture dollies we had reserved online several days earlier. When we got to the location on Santa Fe drive we were told they also didn't have furniture dollies. We were told by an employee filling in for the manager that â€œthe normal manager hasn't updated his inventory and that he was sorry but would refund the dollies.â€ We were on a tight timeline and because of the lack of dollies we had to purchase dollies from a hardware store and ended up returning the truck a half hour late and getting charged for the extra half hour. On 4/3 I checked my card statement and found the dollies were never removed from my contract and that I'd been charged an extra $14 for insurance I'd declined during my online reservation. We went to the store hoping to get things cleared up and I've never received such terrible service. I let the guy at the front desk, Ryan Hammack, know what had happened. He told me he couldn't remove the insurance charge but that he would â€œgive me the benefit of the doubt on the dollies.â€ The two employees who helped us the day of our pickup were sitting next to Ryan and did not say a word. Ryan said I should know what I sign before I sign a contract. I informed him that the store was having difficulties with their system that day and that I actually hadn't signed anything. He tried to argue with me several times until I asked him to show me my signature and he couldn't. I let him know if he couldn't take care of things I'd reach out to UHaul customer support. He decided then he could â€œgive me a one time refund,â€ for a token $28, which has yet to show up on my card. I've never been called a liar at a store or company before and I'm disgusted by the actions of all three of these employees. I was charged more than originally quoted and extra for returning a truck late due to multiple locations lacking equipment. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB and our local agencies. I would like your company to address this terrible experience.Scott D.
I know there may have been turnover because of the pandemic and you may be training new staff and brining them up to speed. They need much more training. Every interaction with U-Haul is a headache. Staff was very rude and unhelpful at this location, with the exception of Ashley Hooper. Everyone we interacted with was very short, and acted like we were interrupting when asking for help. Staff also snapped their fingers at us, and were seemingly annoyed that we asked for clarification about what to do. Ashely however was a SAINT, and the only reason I would return to Uhaul. She was helpful, professional, friendly, and got everything answered in time. I'm so glad she was there to help!SARAH B.
The staff was friendly, but there was absolutely no sense of urgency. I called 24 hours in advance to let them know I needed to pick up my full uboxes to move in to my new place and when I arrived that morning to pick them up they seemed to be very confused. My comments are far to lengthy to respond here. The U-Box concept is a disruptive game changer concept. The equipment was not well planned and was poorly executed but may have been driven by external concerns outside of my understanding. Wood boxes could have worked but the various constructions and ways of construction seemed very hap-hazard and poorly engineered in general. Some boxes were over built while others were, well not something Amerco should feel well executed.. A few tweaks in the structural integrity of the boxes coupled with standardization on the builds would have reduced significant repair and maintenance costs. Wood construction can work but shipping, moisture, and other factors make it challenging as a primary construction material with a vinyl wrap. It appears you are already aware of this with the new box designs. I'm sure you've considered your trailers vs boxes and maybe merging this into one offering serving both. Suffice it to say, I"LL BE INVESTING IN THE STOCK AMERCO (UHAL) STOCK IN A BIG WAY!!JAMES B.

The pickup process was very long- as requested I called 24 hours in advance to pick up our Ubox that was stored at this location. They assured me that it would be pulled out and ready to go when we got there the next day. Upon pickup, there seemed to be a lot of confusion and issues even finding our ubox in the system, and then we were told it would be 30-40 wait why they got our box and found a trailer for it. After we waited, it was then another 30 minutes of filling out the necessary paperwork for it, and the representative seemed new and needed quite a bit of help filling everything out. By the time we got everything done, it had been over a hour and 20 minutes to pickup our ubox. The drop off process was much easier and everything in our box was transported safely, overall we have had good experiences with uhaul and their services.FAITH C.

There was only one person helping named Brittnay Prante. The poor girl was helping four customers at once, including preparing my truck (cleaning and sanitizing the inside). She did her job , was respectful to the other customers, and was very personable to me as she prepped my vehicle. This girl needs thanked, and shown appreciation, as she done your Company a good thing. Are you staffing adequately in this site? I was charged for tolls, but I didn't drive on a toll road. I've disputed the charge but received NO RESPONSE. They assigned a truck that wasn't available, assigned a different truck, and then a third before there was a truck I could drive away. We were not told that Uhal does not ship to Breckenridge. IT was quoted on a freight service. Then they were not correct about telling my mover that at first they couldn't ship the U box on a trailer. Then they changed and said yes they could take 2 boxes, when my mover showed up they told him he could only take one box on a trailer. To many issues. Apparently I can't use a debit card to rent a pick up truck even though in the past I've done that multiple times. So I had to use a more expensive truck. Then I keep getting sent to multiple locations and at the other Santa fe location they had me go back to where i came from and didn't even transfer my reservation so I had to make a whole new one for the third time. Why don't you guys advertise that I had to use a credit card. It let me make a reservation with my debit card. Highly frustrating. I have no credit card. Seemed to be short staffed. Waited over 30 minutes to speak to anybody even with an online reservation. Truck was filthy. Gas meter on record was not even close to the actual meter but wasted so much time to get the truck I just had to leave and pay the difference in gas. Forgot to mention the dolly. My fault even though i reserved it online, neither me nor the associate rememberd. Even if they tried to upsell a dolly, i would have taken one. You didn't have the truck I reserved first, the worker had no means to try and make it right. I spent money to uber to other location and I ended up paying for those extra miles to and from that location. You said you had a guarantee for truck reservations and if not you would pay $50 which I haven't seen. But even then by the time i pay for the 20 dollar uber each way and the extra 10 miles out of my way you guys screwed me over big time and have done nothing to make it right. Both of your male employees, eric from 2727 santa fe and the other guy from sheridan and Mississippi had terrible customer service and did nothing to try and make it right. I will never be using uhaul again or recommending it to anyone. Also your truck had terrible brakes, blown shocks, almost zero oil pressure, broken front end and who knows what else but its only a matter of time until that truck hurts someone. You should be better than this for how big you are, get your shit together uhaul and consider refunding me for my entire awful experience. I rented both truck and storage to pick my stuff and put it in the storage but the access card wasn’t active during the access hours so I had to return the truck with my stuff in it because I don’t have space for them ,that’s why I rented a storage .Second thing, I waited more than 30 minutes on hold to speak with a customer service representative and no one answered. This was my first time renting a Uhaul and it couldn't have gone smoother! The online portal was well laid out and made making my reservation was a breeze. I added and deleted several combinations of equipment rentals before I confirmed my order and the site kept up with every step; it didn't freeze up or crash. Email confirmation came almost immediately; I didnt have to wait. No frustration, point 1! Every staff member was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. I called the day after I made my online reservation to confirm. The woman who answered the phone also answered all my "what if" questions (and confirmed my reservation). When I came to pick up the truck, the woman at the desk had my order and keys ready to go. She also helped us find the extra supplies we needed. At the end of our reservation, I was able to drop off the truck with the man at the desk and check out super quickly. Covid precautions in place and still professional and friendly. Amazing staff, point 2! The clean show room, truck, and equipment were the cherry on top. Again, keeping with Covid precautions, I also felt safe. Nothing looked worse for wear and worked perfectly, point 3! Honestly, my whole experience with Uhaul made my move easier than anticipated and set my mind at ease. Because of that, it was almost fun. This site does a great job, however a five star it's not worthy. For me to change the rating, I would need better compliance or flexibility. The operations and management is very cookie cutter. There was an abundance of the larger 15ft+ trucks and trailers to rent. I did not need the larger sizes at all and I only needed the vehicle for roughly 3 hours. The price per mile and initial price costed me more than I wanted since I had to go with the 15' truck. The employees are not allowed to make flexible pricing adjustments, which is understandable. I am still happy, but I hope UHaul will consider this in the future. Overall this spot operates far better than most locations I've used in my past across the country. When I came in to get my lock, I had already completed the online reservation amd the gentleman helping me couldnt locate me even with the resv #. The whole process took way longer than expected and when it came time to get into my unit, the key card wouldnt work. Overall I was very pleased with my storage at U Haul. I only had to leave when access to the location was limited to a scan card. Being only able to enter the site with the scan card limited me to access only when I was in my truck, when i needed to get in and was in a different vehicle I could not. This was an amazing end of my trip. The front desk lady was very helpful in switching the unit I had reserved online to a ground floor unit right by the entrance! The only impediment to the process I faced was a delay encountered when I was to unload my UBox and move it into storage. The UBox could not be accessed by the forklift while a semi was being unloaded. In hindsight I should have scheduled a definite time for the UBox to be moved. I moved to CO from out of state and UHAUL packed up my belongings into containers and brought them to the UHAUL center in CO where I rented a storage unit for nearly a year. The cost was a third of the price other companies charge. The entire experience was pleasant, professional, and timely.
