my initial reservation was at the Main St and 8th ave location. When i arrived for my restervation i had to wait 30 minutes before the one person on staff (doing 3 jobs) told me that he could not honor my reservation. I then asked him for my $50 guarantee credit and he he told me "no way". However the people at the 6th st location told me that i can get the $50 credit and to call in the morning.Patrick L.

While this location has always provided great service, this time played out differently, but for a different customer. She had called in to inquire why her rental payment appeared unpaid on her confirmation email, when she was sure she had paid earlier in store. I know this, because the associate had her on speakerphone, where everyone in the store (Two male associates, one female associate, myself, and two customers waiting in line behind me) could hear both sides of the conversation. I was being helped on the farthest-right-side register by the fellow in the orange beanie, who always has provided us with superb service. The associate assisting the customer on the phone (center register) was a taller young man, who asked for her name, then looked up the transaction on the terminal to find that her payment had not gone through. She asked him if she could remit over the phone so as to not have to return to the store. He said yes, and asked her for the credit card number, the expiration date, as well as the three digit security code, to which she obliged for everyone to hear. I was shocked to hear this, and commented to my associate that going forward, if I am ever on the phone with them, I will make a point to ask if I am on speakerphone before giving out vital information. This employee's actions were unprofessional at best; at worst, could have been a breach of customer security. Please provide additional training to staff to include scenarios like this, so that in the future, we as customers can trust that while doing business with UHaul, our personal information remains so. Have a sign or something up that says â€œno Dollys availableâ€œ . I waited in line at the main street address for about 25 to 30 minutes just to be informed that there were no dollies at that location and I had to travel all the way to the sixth and 44th St. location which ended up with everything being OK since they had the dolly but it did take a lot longer than I expected originally because there was no way to state that they were out of dollies and I waited in line for a while.Madeleine M.

the on the phone service was horrific. no one knows anything. It took probably one whole working day on the phone to arrange this. the people who load the box are not connected to U-Haul. When it was delivered the box was pushed up against the house so tightly we could not open the door more than 80 degrees so it was very difficult to unload. they said they would come and move it but they did not.Karen and Ona M.

My reservation was actually with 802 N Main, however, after waiting in line for an hour, I was told that my truck was at the 6th street location. When I arrived at the 6th street location I was told that they didn't have my truck and that they didn't have any 10' trucks so I had to get the next size up, which I did. The rep there had to get my reservation transferred to them and then give me a larger truck.The service I received at the 6th street location was awesome. Staff were friendly and very helpful. He was helpful and as prompt as possible, however unlike the pick up location his uhaul software worked and he was only focusing on Uhaul transactions, unlike the pick up location in which the uhaul rep was balancing running a quick mart and uhaul location.Mark M.

I can't think of anything you folks need to do beter thatn you did for me. I needed just a cargo van as we were moving a few pieces of furniture we bought from a moving sale. The van was the just right size. The location where there was one available just happened to be the only dealer near me that was open on Sundays. The only day that I could get help. The van was clean and smelled nice. It drove like a dream and I had no problems whatsoever. I have used UHaul before and I will always start here when renting a moving vehicle. We arrived at the uhaul store at 7:54 and it closed at 8. The doors were already locked so I had to knock and the employee was clearly annoyed that he had to do his job. He came to the door and refused to help us since he already shut down his system, even though the store was still open. He made us use the online check in which was very convoluted and in depth compared to how easy it would have been for him to help us. We spent the whole day unloading a truck and moving and were exhausted and it would have been really nice if the gentleman working actually cared about taking care of the customer and been willing to help us. I will not be using uhaul again after this experience. I wish I knew his name but he was younger, swearing a beanie, and I think he had longer blonde hair.ALEX C.

Could never ever pay my bill on time because I could not get ahold of anybody it was continually busy. The Internet site is a joke it does not work even the employees told me it did not work. I got charged multiple times for overdue because I could not get ahold of anybody. I at the last 3 months had auto pay which I did not know that was available this company is a rip off and would like to sew the socks off of them. Your system to pick up cars with the phone is very complicated. After logging in, your software took me to a screen that had nothing to do with the process of getting the key. I would suggest learning from rental cars. They have been able to process rentals by only showing the driver's license and the credit card to a service person.Jorge S.

We reserved a car dolly at another location. When we got there, the equipment was not available so they sent us here. Further streamline the online reservation system. As with most all businesses since COVID-19 and very tight labor market right now y'all got to do is the airports and provide scanning capabilities for such things as drivers licenses and online registration and/or put in kiosks at rental locations to minimize name of waiting in lines when nobody is even at the counter because they are out assisting or conducting trailer hook ups. This would streamline the registration process to where all the people on site would be doing is look at your face see that it matches your drivers license or ID scanned online or at your kiosk and take you out and hook you up and go instead of standing in line waiting and waiting for people who have not pre-registered and scanned in all of their necessary information ! I guess you would need to have one line for the non-pre-registered and an express line for the pre-registered customers so that we that plan ahead we not waste our time waiting in line behind those who are palsy online challenged or just don't plan ahead! The trailer was rusty and clearly old. The conditions were good enough for driving it around but when I reached my destination I noticed that for three days it rained inside and all my stuff got soaked. I would have given 5 stars but I picked up around 5 on march 9th and reserved for 2 days. I had asked if I returned it the next day would I only be charged for a day. I was told that as long as I had it by 7pm it would only be a day. I got there at 6:45 and ended up being charged for 2 days. I spoked with same employee both days and he was a nice guy but honestly I wouldn't have rushed to get it back to not save any money.Joshua S.

The storage unit was fine…but the office. Why have a direct number if I can’t get ahold of anyone there?! Every time I tried to call the office it rang out to customer service offices. I tried to call the day before to cancel my storage unit. I couldn’t get ahold of the office and had to talk to a customer service representative who had to send a message to the uhaul office. They couldn’t close out my unit and had to wait for the office. The office did not reach out, did not cancel it. I called twice in one day to check if it had been closed out (it had not) I called the next day and the customer service representative had to find the number of the regional manager of the units and conference him in to cancel my unit and write off the charges for a new month because they didn’t close it out when they were suppose to. Ebony and Janna were both very helpful. While looking for a specific U-Haul storage location in Newberry, I found myself unable to get through by phone (full voicemail box), so I drove there, putting additional miles on the box truck. The units in Newberry were fenced up, and there was no one around to help me get access to the unit I'd reserved. I asked some ladies who were power-walking past the units, and one said she hadn't seen anyone there in a long time, and another said she thought maybe they were closed down. If service is completely non-existent for the Newberry location, why was I even allowed to make a reservation online? What a waste of time amd gas and truck miles/money! So I headed toward Gainesville, and saw another U-Haul location in Newberry, called Midgard. So I stopped there to check prices and use the restroom. Their restroom door wouldn't shut properly (I felt if I dropped my pants that I would be exposed to anyone who tried to enter, since, no matter how I tried, the door would not latch), and their unit prices were high, so that eliminated Midgard as a choice. It was getting to the point where I was going to look for storage providers not affiliated with U-Haul. Then I went to the facility managed by Ebony. I was tired from driving and disappointments, and hungry on top of that. I explained to Ebony that I had never used an indoor storage unit before, and that I was confused about access and unloading/loading. Ebony took the time to show me around the facility, and located a suitable unit for me, despite limited availability due to it being the end of the semester at UF in Gainesville. She showed me how to use the access card reader, and was patient and polite throughout the process of getting me into the facility. Then while I was moving my possesions into the unit, a friendly employee there named Janna told me she'd be around working to clean the units and to let her know if there was anything I needed help with, so that was icing on the cake. Facility was nice, but the company seems very money hungry. Every time I called with questions, either they were not very knowledgeable or never called me back. Sneakily increased the rate and then said “it’s just $5” when it’s actually an extra $60 a year. They also told me it was because of demand but said that it would never go back down again no matter the demand. Also was unable to get reimbursed/prorated for an entire month after move out. This facility is is not truly climate controlled and is generally filthy. It is common to find old dirty mattress and broken furniture in the entrance, it’s like a dump. It smells like mildew and stale cigarettes in the facility which seeped into our belongings. The facility is also not secure, the sliding doors can be pulled open by hand easily. However, the facility also has a host of problems such as frequent random alarms going off at nearly all times, the elevator frequently ceasing to operate (including yesterday where an “NI” message kept appearing and the doors would not close), a total dead zone in the building, and very limited access hours. When I 1st rented everyone was friendly, as I was moving out on July 29th, I asked an employee if I could use the dumpster, he said yes and to let them know inside, before I could even get inside a manager came out yelling at me for using the dumpster. Tried explaining to him what the other employee had said, he kept yelling, then walked away slamming the dumpster doors. Upon putting my last item on my trailer,another male employee approached me, scolding me like a child, once again I was defending my actions and he stated he didn't want to hear it and walked away. This facility is HUGE, units are easy to access, everything looked clean, and it was super helpful to have so many carts available to assist with moving our stuff from the moving truck to the unit. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only concern I had was with Uhauls systems -- #1 Apparently they allow customers to triple book the same unit (fortunately for us we were the first to get there and were able to get the unit we booked), and #2 The systems in the facility appear to be very slow, outdated, and not user-friendly. This could be an issue if lines were long. We only had 1 person in front of us and it took about 25 minutes for him to return all of his unused boxes for a refund.Kat R. | First Impressions

Nice facility and great staff but was disappointed with two things. Was not pleased to learn that the 10’ x 10’ unit I had preordered was advertised as such but upon opening the unit, it was actually two smaller units with a wall in between—not ideal for large furniture pieces. Was able to switch the two small units to one large one but, after measuring the new unit, the interior was about a foot less than 10’ x 10,’ which is what I’m being charged for every month. Had to move additional belongings into a family member’s house because the space was tighter than advertised. The fact that what’s advertised isn’t what’s sold is very frustrating for both customers and staff who are trying their best to help. Please update marketing materials to accuracy and, when building future facilities, do not sell two split units as “one large unit.” Not sure if I will rent a storage unit from UHAUL again unless I get exactly what I’m paying for. Everything went great signing up online, got a free lock. I was really pleased to see how clean and well lit the facility is. The free use of the moving carts is an add bonus. The only issue is my passcode doesn't work, so every time I opened my unit it sets off an alarm which turns off after about one second. I asked someone and he said he thought the alarm system is down. But that is something they should tell the new guy or post it somewhere. Over the last couple of months I have seen this facility go down hill. For 3 days, the trash in the bathroom was over flowing. There was a cup of trash in the elevator and the halls had trash in them as well. This is not a single occurrence. This has been the new norm recently. The staff is super underwhelming as well. Every time I went to the office I was greeted with hufffs and puffs. When I asked for assistance it seemed as if I was requesting the world from them. Just overall not very friendly.
