The pickup experience was troubling, from having to drive 25 minutes to a different location to pick up the vehicle, felt so sorry for the agent working since she was by herself. Van worked fine but had not been cleaned. Didn't get the pads and the dolly I ordered and couldn't wait to get the refund since the agent working when I returned was so busy and I was exhausted. I've used this location many times over the years and always considered it the best in the triangle, but my recent experience was poorly lacking-- first of all, my wait time for service for was 55 minutes, primarily because both clerks were busy helping auction purchasers. They were also out of dollies, though I had reserved one, but the clerk did allow me to use an appliance dolly for the reduced dolly price. It had zero fuel in it. The truck stalled 3 times on me and ran horribly. The oil and check engine lights were on and flashing. I returned it 20 hours early but noone seemed to care about the issues. First I called to check the price on what a truck would cost me to rent, I'm moving from Benson NCto Tobaccoville(King) NC, I was told the total would be $168 plus tax. Sounded good to me so I make the reservation. Then after i made the reservation I am told the total after tax came to $191, was told additional cost was taxes.. but the taxes in $168 is not $23? Now we're already this far so we give a second chance. Next we get to the Garner location and we try checking in, and the desk staff left the new employee to check us in by them selves.. That went so bad that we had to go to the back of the store ourselves just to find an employee who could help us get checked in so we can get the truck. Now our new total is $223!!!!! What the heck is this?? Oh it's insurance. Well, now I'm here and I'm late, I have no choice at this point, I just have to bend over and bite down, this was nonconsensual, to say the least! Oh but we're not done. So we're taking the truck to the drop off location in King, NC and guess what? That's right! Another cost increase! For 3 miles!!!!!!!!!!! Now this charge was only $1.30 that's no big deal right? So again I bend over, and I let uhaul have its nonconsensual way with me. On my way home, feeling violated and in desperate need of a shower, I sat and thought to myself; the rep who made the reservation knew my home address, as well as my drop off address, to calculate those miles and they knew I had to drop the truck off afterwards and they have that address as well, We didn't make any additional stops and we got gas on the way, so where did the 3 miles come from? Better yet why did they seriously after all this feel they need to make me bend over.. AGAIN!?!? CLEARLY THAT IS THEIR MO HERE. This will be heard by my entire family, and every single one of my friends, acquaintances and my customers through word of mouth, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, google and yelp they will know how poorly they will be treated and how hard they will be screwed (and let's not forget how many times) if they ever decide to use uhaul again. It is not just horribly bad employees, it's bad corporate policies, shady marketing tactics and worthless customer retention and a down right bad sales model. The truck was filthy dirty. Had a bad smell inside. The bed was so dirty. In addition to all that, they charged me for fuel even though I returned it on 7/8 just like how I received it. The staff has been friendly in the past, but I’ve had SO MANY small issues that seem like mountains to correct on the business’s end. First I was assigned a unit that was already in use. That took 30-45 minutes to sort out and correct. I asked and was told more than 3 times that there would be a lock in the unit. (Both times I was assigned a unit.) When I finally accessed my correct and available unit, there was NO LOCK. Now I have been on hold for almost 20 minutes, waiting to confirm that a lock will be readily available for me today, 2 days after my reservation start date. Got disconnected and spent an hour and a half on the phone either on hold or picked up by the wrong representative in the wrong state. Finally a nice lady in Virginia helped me. Customer service could use training on what is good Customer service. while i stated many times that i understood the lady i was dealing wiyh did not make the mistakes in booking the wrong unit rental or take the call or was the manager not once did i get any form of respect, sympathy, empathy, understanding, compassion, or attempt to do anything but say "it wasnt my fault" repeatedly and to pass the buck to someone else. upon my arrival it was after hours 1800 number could provide no assistance after waiting on hold for over 30 minutes. the problem ended being we werein a building and never informed that we were trying to load at the wrong location. we were also told there was no emergency code for the site. when we tried again the following night we were given directions and then came back after hours. this time to find the unit that i was assigned to had already been rented to someone else. being that again 1800 couldn't assist me i found a locker that appeared the same size marked ready for Customer use and put my belongings in there. it was when i went in the next day to explain what happened that i was given an attitude for doing so, told i would be charged more because the unit i was getting "for 1 month free" was bigger than the one i was supposed to get for free. when i mentioned i was charged for my "free month" i was immediately told there was a zero balance and wasn't charged. when i stated i was and to look again the lady noticed i was and did nothing to remove or reverse the charges. again all that could be said was i didn't do it you will have to talk to jasmine the store manager. on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the worst i would definitely give my entire experience a -10 and will be telling friends, family,neighbors, or anyone of the bad experience. i will also be filing a complaint with the BBB.Tracie L.

I AM NOT MOVING OUT - - Within 3 days of moving In in December '21, I have been continually receiving emails and phone calls asking if I'm still using the unit, and that continued for the first 2 weeks until I yelled and screamed...now 3 months later it has started again, saying "sorry to see you go" - - WHAT??? I am still using this unit and you are taking $$$ automatically from my CC Company. I can never get a straight answer from anyone as to why this keeps happening. I'm told that the person sending the emails "cannot be found" and no one at the Garner Facility EVER answers the phone. Even this comment, right next to it says that I am "moving out". Again, I am NOT moving out so please stop making me crazy. I have visited this unit weekly to add more items, and when I go this week to find my unit empty - - we will be going to court, as I have every month of paid receipts. was assigned a storeroom on second floor of a rather large building. The room was in the opposite corner from the single entrance. Much too far away from entrance and single elevator that had to be shared with other tenants. Whose brilliant idea was it to put a 10 by 15 on the second floor hundreds of feet from elevator?!There were several people using the elevator. it would have taken us hours to unload, wait for elevator and get to unit and unload. The elevator cannot be locked out so we would have to load and unload one small cart at a time. Extremely poor design and planning on U hauls part. Rented a covered outside storage spot,got confirmation notice, arrived to park my trailer and there was a non moveable car in my spot. All other spots were full, had to park along the drive with no cover.they told me they were going to have the car towed, never happened. Came and got my trailer 1 week early went in and told them I was picking it up and that I was done with my rental. Just recently received a letter stating that I was late on making my payment for the next month and if I did not pay,with a late fee, that it would be sent to collections! Called uhaul explained the situation and she told me it would be canceled and she would send me a email confirming the cancelation. Have not received a email as of yet! I have bought four units at this facility. I just checked out of two of them due to i was able to condense my items into the remaining two to save some money. When i was checking out i was informed and noticed a complete change in attitude and management was taking place so it looks like things are moving in the right direction. However, this wasnt the case when i moved in around October of 2021. I was told things were really bad by the new personal, due to management issues and i understand things can be hectic but i believe there is a common ground that all personnel should be expected to adhere too in the absence of a General Manager. What i witnessed and went through should not happen anywhere. Im a returning customer with U Haul and every place seems to be the same and i can count on how things are ran and up till this facility things have been spot on. At first i thought it might of been an associated storage using the uhaul name and having "their own way of doing things" but no this was a full blown Uhaul store. From reserving to actually paying for my unit ahead of time so i knew it was there for me as i was making a long distance move in a 26ft truck i needed everything to work in my favor and expected it after dealing with uhaul before. After driving long hours I walked in and they said my unit wasnt available. Which i thought was odd since they said they "put eyes on it" not only did we reserve the unit weeks ago we paided for it to be there to permanently lock the storage as we knew availability was limited.. after and hour of waiting and witnessing how lazy everyone was. They got it figured out. I also bought an outdoor storage that wasnt even available due to the "previous manager using it for personal things" and you guessed it... it was the only one of the size I needed available.. which is why we needed the extra two I just checked out of.. I also saw why i was on hold for so long when i called months before. They answer the call put it on hold and let it sit, going back to their cell phones... with nobody even in the store to assist.. Lazy and unprofessional at its best. The storage facility was poorly kept as well. We bought 24hr access to help ourselves.. The dock lights were off all night long, bathrooms not stocked with toilet paper,towels or even soap.. hot water at the sink was pure cold even after letting it run! Best part was they would lock the lock the sliding automatic door 30 minutes before closing, with a key lock stating "homeless people get in". Then when they would open the next day the slding door was still locked until about noon to 1 o'clock in the afternoon. So everyone who pulled up during the day would have to use the mandoor only! I witnessed nothing of the homeless sort as i worked through the night and rested their briefly and worked through the next day. Always kept to myself and was never in anyones way. If the security would be working as it should then even after hours, my 24 hr access should of gotten me into the building through either the man door or sliding door as ive experienced before. Not to mention the person who unlocked the door acted so rudely and bothered like we were "inconveniencing them". The whole facility was very shady to say the least. I hope the new management and new faces behind the workings get it back up to standards. This facility needs it and from what ive seen in the amount of Red access denied tags. Had a minor incident with another customer who couldn't get in and was yelling at me to let him in. I did not said I couldn't and he started screaming at me. Ryan came to the building to straighten his code out and he was still yelling at me. I asked Ryan to stay until he went in and he graciously did. I was by myself and an older woman. I checked in online, got my rental unit with access code. The website said a lock would be in the unit when I arrived. When I arrived, the access code did not work, so I checked in at the front. This was the most unprofessional customer service experience I have had in a while. I checked in online but still had to wait 25 minutes in the store. I also reserved a storage unit. I was given FOUR different units until I was finally given one that wasn't ALREADY occupied. How can you manage a storage facility but don't keep an accurate list of what's occupied and what's open? I made FOUR TRIPS from the storage area to the office because every unit I was given was occupied. The truck I rented transmission was slipping so bad I thought I was going to breakdown. The older white lady with the short hair , who I think was the Manger was more concerned with smoking cigarettes instead of assisting the ONE employee who was trying her best to accommodate a full lobby. Everything was great except for getting staff to make sure all access doors were available to customers during business hours. There have been entirely too many instances where staff failed to insure that all access doors were available for customers to use. I had reserved a guaranteed truck at the garner location which is also where I have my storage unit. I reserved it doe 24 hours. When I got to the facility to pick up my truck I was told that there was no truck available and they would have to call and find me one. I was told that there was a truck at another location. Maybe I am a little stupid but good customer service to me would be for someone to drive that truck to the garnet location to where I was waiting but no I was told I had to drive 9 miles in my persons vehicle to go pick up the truck (it was actually 11.7 miles). I also asked the employee at the garner location why there where no disc locks on the 2 doors that I had on my storage building and he said I had to bring my own locks and looks. When I told him I booked online and hey were supposed to be included for free he provided me with 2 locks. I love 2.8 miles from the garner location which is why I booked there. I wasted almost one hour of my time driving to Raleigh to get this truck which means I will waste another hour driving back to Raleigh to get my car on Saturday. I asked the lady at the Raleigh location about the miles and time I had wasted and she gave me the weekly mileage rate instead of the weekend rate. I find this unacceptable. I feel like I should have 23.4 free mikes to put on the truck because that is the distance that I am forced to drive getting the truck that I did not plan on. I would also feel like I should be reimbursed fir a gallon on gas that I am having to put in my car to drive there and back that was not part of my booking. I also feel I should be reimbursed a few gallons of gas that I am gonna have to put in the uhaul truck that was not my plan. I also feel I should be reimbursed somehow for the 2 hours on my wasted time. I am moving into a different house in 2 weeks and will need to use another truck for the move. Many automatic overhead lights in the storage facility won’t turn on so my unit is in a dark hall. I imagine this could make many people feel uncomfortable. Very clean. My overall experience with uhaul staff is good BUT as I was returning my rented 15’ truck, I encountered a staff member/young man who was the RUDEST I have ever encountered and down right ABUSIVE. Worst, he took the key from me and drove the truck in front of building like racing on track and almost smashed a poor man who was pulling in front of him (see your videos from cameras). When I asked about manager, he said go inside and wait and he is way to busy to worry with me. Mocked me when i asked if my check out was completed and said look at trucks that I have to do and brushed me off. I have rented storage for over two years and sometimes two at ones. Rented multiple trucks for me and business but never expected that rudeness and dismissive/abuse to customers. The manager (Ms. Tyndall) was very professional and courteous but I refuse to do business with this location in future and would not recommend to anyone else because my experience with the employee (see my return for his name). One final word, there are many facilities that compete for the same services as yours, what sets you apart and encourage people to do business with you again is your customer service and that is completely MISSING with this employee. Me and my husband are very upset with the way our rental was handled today. I called uhal this afternoon to reserve a storage unit that would fit a truck as we are moving and need a space for my husband'struck. We were told that we could rent an enclosed unit at your location that was as big as a 1 car garage. When my husband got there that's when the problems started. At first they could not find our reservation even though we had a reservation number. Then they decided that they would give my husband a unit and proceeded to charge him $200 when the unit was supposed to be free because we rented a moving truck. When my husband pointed this out they did not believe him and made him swear that he rented a truck. Then finally he said he would give him the unit for the free month. When he went to go find the unit it was inside and they gave him no direction on how to get there. Our unit was supposed to be outside so we could store our car. They said they did not have that unit and the only thing they could give was an inside one which does not help us. It took my husband 3 times to get in as they kept giving him the wrong gate code. When he finally did find the unit it was upstairs and the furthest away from entrance that you could get. When he finally got to the unit there was a zip tie on it he had to remove along with a mouse trap and dead mouse in it and cockroaches. At this point my husband had already been there 3 hours and he needed to get back to us to finish out the day. To say the least, we are very unsatisfied and plan on calling the corporate number to speak to someone. This experience has put a very bad taste in our mouth. I went to put my clothes in my unit and when we pulled the door up we found roaches crawling on my items. I then called a friend to see if I can store my clothes at her house. When I called a week ago to resolve a different problem, I was told by the manager, Mike, that if I called ahead of time to tell them when I was coming to unload my UBoxes, into a storage unit, they would have them ready for me. I called Friday afternoon to let them know I would be there Saturday morning. When I showed up, I told the manager I had spoke with him last week and he rudely said, “No, probably not.” After assuring him that I DID talk to him, they found my account, and UBoxes. However, they had not been pulled out and ready for me. They said, to give them some time, probably 20 minutes, and we’ll call you to let you know they are ready. After an hour and a half of waiting in the parking lot, they were pulled and ready. When I went in, to find out which storage unit was ours (I made a reservation for a 10x20 back in June), I was told that I didn’t have a reservation. They had to make me a new one, but they had no 10x20’s available. I made the reservation, drove out back to the other building so we could FINALLY start unloading our UBoxes, to find that they were stilled screwed shut. Of course the front desk wasn’t answering the phone, so I had to drive back up there to get someone to come back down and take the screws out. I then scanned my access card to get into the storage unit, and it says “Welcome Kailyn.” That is not my name, so after we finished loading all of our belongings into the unit I went back up front to tell them. I was told that if I wanted it changed over to my name I would have to come back a time that the manager was working because nobody else knows how to do that. Meanwhile, the whole time the cashier is talking to me, he is spitting into a water bottle because he had dip in his mouth. Overall, I was not pleased with this experience. What should have been a 1-2 hour ordeal wound up being over 4 hours. The one employee that wound up helping us actually retrieve the UBoxes and get the screws out of the boxes was friendly and apologetic (I don’t remember his name, but I do know he was finished at 1:00 that day-8/15). I called a month before the actual moving to the storage unit and using the truck. I got to the place in Morganton to get my truck and the guy there was rude and did not want to answer my questions and he said he did not want to talk to me the he would talk to my daughter (I am Spanish and my daughter looks American) he should not be so rude and calm my anxiety with the answer to my questions which were very legitimate considering the truck charge was high (he said I was going to be held for $343.00 but my money will be credited to my card once we got there) I did not understand WHY he couldn't just do the right thing because that was way too much and he said we couldn't return truck back in Morganton but it was really not true. Anyhow, I called the U haul place at Mechanical Blvd. in Raleigh and the guy who answered the phone was not very knowledgeable and he just couldn't even find my reservation. We get there at 3:53 and as told in Morganton but the owner, Mr. Hennessee, we wanted to let them know we were there so the time we got there is recorded an he said I would get $100 back credited for early return of truck. The storage place is busy, the guys Kenneth Perry, says he can help me, but when he is helping me some other people say that they need to talk to him and he tells me to stay there on that register while he helps this other customer because they need help. I asked Why is the other guy not helping because I believe once a customer is being helped then he should finish his work with them and then get the next customer. He went and helped the other people and when he got back to help me, then he rushed because he wouldn't answer my questions and he did not even make sure I was not charged for my first month . He told me to wait at storage unit number given and that he would be there shortly. When we get to the storage unit. I did not feel safe. There was a woman there who says she has 3 storage units and sure she did have a dog in one of the units, she had her blanket, microwave, cheese, food, eating there. She also had all her stuff spread all over hallway and told me not to go by there because she needed the hallway to spread her junk. I told her I did not care and that we needed to unload our stuff because we had been driving for 3 hours and we wanted to get it done. She also took some of our stuff and we had to ask her to give back to us. She looked like she was on some drugs. The alarm went off when we opened my unit and when we tried to close. THUS, they should fix that. Someone should make sure NOBODY is in those units eating, sleeping and with animals.That is not a safe nor good idea. I am scared to go back there by myself. At 6pm, I asked that guy who helped us to please make sure I got my money credited and he gave me a number that is not even UHAUL to call and talk to them because he said he couldn't do it..
