The delivery of the box in New Orleans was a debacle. I have spoken with the person scheduling the delivery, but would appreciate speaking with someone at the home office. The container that arrived looked like it had been "taken out of retirement". The locks were broken and we could barely close the door, hoping and praying no one broke into the box during shipment, or that it just opened and our belongings were damaged/lost along the way. The box arrived in Pittsburgh fine and delivered in correct timing, but now U-Haul Pittsburgh is not picking up the box. I am away from the house, but it has been 2 days since the promised claiming of the unit and it was not yet picked up when leaving our residence this morning. I have shared with colleagues and friends and family how UHaul has continued to provide shameful service as a national company with financial resources to serve their clients better. I requested a discount on the unit, but was told by the scheduler in New Orleans that she was not authorized to do so. Perhaps, your national office can.

The staff at the Chef Menteur location were successful in accommodating my family after a debacle I experienced with U-Haul before I went to their location. My original booking, made on July 11 via the U-Haul app, was for a one-way trip from Baton Rouge to New Orleans on July 26. We were going to drive our vehicle from NO to BR and use the U-Haul to go back to NO. I received a text message on July 25 that there were no 15-ft trucks anywhere near my pickup location, and that I would have to “travel” to get one. I called and found out that I would have to travel to Liberty, Mississippi to get a 15-ft truck. Liberty MS is over an hour out of my way from Baton Rouge. I told them that was unacceptable. I don’t have time to tell the whole story, but it ended up that I was told to go to the Chef Menteur location to pick up a 10-ft truck, but when I got to the Chef Menteur location, I was told they didn’t have a truck for me. They spent an hour trying to figure out what had happened and to try to get me into a truck. The staff got me into a truck, but the overall experience was absolutely unsatisfactory for an 80-year old logistics-based company like U-haul. I had to watch other customers come and go, all because of my reservation being messed up by some guy on the phone. If there are equipment shortages and you know the equipment is not likely to be available, then that equipment should not be listed as options on the app or website. This overall experience caused my family to get our moving day started a whole hour after we planned to.

The people that ran the U-Box drop offs and everything were very good unfortunately because of the rain that we had, my boxes were delayed and I was also told they would be delivered a different way on a trailer and such. Originally scheduled for pickup at 1910 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Was told by the 1910 Veterans Memorial Blvd that i needed to go to 6210 Chef Menteur instead on the SAME day of pickup which is not acceptable. I had already ordered an uber to get to the 1910 veterans location. I had to get ANOTHER uber to the 6210 Chef Menteur location. I wasnt even notified of these changes UNTIL THE DAY OF through the app. That is unacceptable. Otherwise, i would have made arrangements to get to the menteur location on the front end. I called customer service and I was bounced around and never could get to anyone. I asked for a manager to call in the dispatch department and no one has called me yet. I have never had an issue with Uhaul until this moment..

The contents of my storage was severely damaged due to poor maintenance of this facility by Uhaul. The property was so dilapidated that it was a breathtaking ground for rodents. Rats and exposure to plumbing leaks as well as the outside elements due to holes in the storage ceiling

Everything from the U-Haul side of things was great! My containers arrived in their destination extremely quickly. The process of selecting local movers on each end was also extremely easy. I would definitely recommend using U-Boxes for small (1 bedroom apartment) moves in the future.

I went in with a gift certificate of 250, and still was charged a 23 or 33 dollars fee. I found that staff to have bias from the assistant manager. Since the assistant manager hit me with a bias fee, I forward that email to my lawyer. I will use pods or another moving service in the future. I do believe in paying a racist or trans fee. Horrible horrible horrible experience. The truck they gave me was two sizes bigger than the one I had a reservation for. Trying to manover thru New Orleans on Mardi Gras weekend in that huge truck was a nightmare. They changed my pickup location the day before to a place an hour out of the way. Which ending up adding two more hours to my overall trip thst day the was already an 8 hour drive. They changed me an additional $87 when after I dropped it off even though I returned with the same amount of gas. The reservation costs me almost a thousand dollars for some reason!? When I had the exact same reservation a year ago when I moved to New Orleans it was only $478. I will NEVER and I mean NEVER use U-haul again. They have completely forgotten about customer service. They are such a large company and have such a monopoly on the market they don’t care about their customers at all. If you are reading this, plz consider going with a smaller moving company or someone local. I can not stress this enough. U haul doesn’t care about you.

I was not happy with the fact that my price kept going up,
The unit #0073 had a big heater or something in the ceiling that was rusted and when I ask for a different unit, they could not accommodate me. and that particular rusted heater not sure what it was actually took away from my space in the unit. Also, there were mice in the unit I wish I would have been accommodated. The price kept going up. And even though I had no where to put my stuff, I had no choice but to pay.

Despite notifying staff of moving out of storage unit on 28 Dec 2023, AND picking up a truck reserved to relocate to Baltimore, U-Haul STILL collected storage fees for Jan 2024 on an empty unit. Staff was only helpful and friendly when they received payment. The manager, Ms. Lisa, at least contacted me. This is the SECOND TIME U-Haul did this. It happened when I moved from Jackson TN to New Orleans in July 2021. Contacted U-Haul and spoke with that manager, but STILL waiting to be reimbursed for BOTH charges. I don't know which is better, a 24 hour self storage or one that denies access after a certain hour. The day that I moved in I wish that I could've been granted a bit more time. Instead I had to rush to get my things in before 10pm. Also, I thought that I already had a lock from a previous time that I rented a storage, so I didn't purchase one at the time. I called Uhaul (before closing) to request that a storage lock that I ordered online be placed in my unit. I was directed to their 1-800... number because I suppose that the location that I rented from was no longer accepting calls. When I did get to Uhaul later that day to move in my things, the lock was not in there. That's all. Good bye.

Pulled up to the Uhaul and was told that I had to pay for my storage unit upfront when my first month suppose to be free. The rep who was at the front had no knowledge of how to apply my or rectify my discount. I paid upfront and was told to call customer service. Next I go to my storage unit and unload the truck and went to return the keys. The rep told me that I unloaded everything wrong. After I inquired to her and asked well why you didn’t say that when I was up here she didn’t mention anything to me nor did she even show me where my storage unit was. We unload everything again and come to find out the someone was already in the unit assigned to me and the unit next to me they had no keys. It’s cold and raining outside by the way. She assigns me to another unit which she had gave us the wrong key yet again and had to assign me to another unit. This is the third time. The unit she assigns to me after we finally gets in has a big pole in the middle where I can’t fit any of my belongings (couches). We tried to inform her of this and she completely ignored us. So unprofessional. I packed up everything and went to another company. Please do not rent from this location. They are so unprofessional and the customer service was terrible. I will be following up with corporate on this issue because the rep actually put 3 storage units under my name. She didn’t even know how to do her job and it shows. NEVER RENT FROM HERE.

My card on file was hacked and shut off by my CC company; so I had to ask my Mom to call in and make a payment. Despite the fact that I’ve been a loyal customer to uhaul for many years and the van I had rented up to date on payments and the reservation extended through the 800#; whoever was in the store that day told my Mom that my truck was a week overdue and that uhaul would be sending out a “control” team and the truck would be repossessed and I’d be arrested?!?!?
As if moving isn’t stressful enough; YOU ADD THIS TO DAY?!? Told my MOM I’M A TRUCK THIEF AND I’LL BE ARRESTED?!?!? Well despite the fact that my original plan was to get rid of my other storage units and move into this one; those plans changed immediately. My Mom being told that combined with the basically nude street walkers perpetually in front of this establishment and the fact that I wasn’t able to pull out one day due to someone being “serviced” in the uhaul driveway I need to use to exit; had me rethink my choice. I removed all my belongings immediately which only served to make the truck another day late. I was so angry when I dropped it off, I couldn’t even go into the store for fear I’d absolutely and entirely lose my temper with whoever was there.
I moved out of her unit 2 days into the month of my monthly rental. I feel I should be offered the prorated funds for the remainder of the month back…. I seriously doubt that tho I will be teach reaching out to the GM shortly… I’m hoping to handle this situation with the Grace and consideration I was not at all offered by the staff here.

I had no issue with this storage but my move out date was prior to the date indicated in this survey. The attendant informed me that there were no additional steps to complete when I returned the main key. I would say that the only improvement is to confirm on the company’s end when move outs are complete to avoid and discrepancies. Overall, I am satisfied.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with U haul and I will not be supporting the company anymore, I will also never recommend your company and I have shared my negative experience with others.
I was having electrical problems with my house so I rented a storage unit because the house needed to be rewired and I had to relocate, the next day the house caught on fire, I never even had a chance to move into the unit, after finding somewhere to go and dealing with the stress of a house fire I called back U haul to try and get a refund for the unit I never moved into because I had to pay the deposit on the house I found, it had been about 4 days and I called multiple times but kept being told to call back, they refused to give me a refund for the unit I never moved into because they said it had been past 24 hours. After all the support I have given U haul in my life you all showed no sympathy or compassion for someone who was going though a hard time and just trying to get a refund. that $100 was severely needed and I had to go without food for almost a week because everything I had went towards a deposit on a new house, you all made a bad situation for me so much worse. Your company is completely out of touch with the people your supposed to be providing a service for, your 24 hour refund policy combined with the overpriced storage units is ridiculous and just greedy.
going forward I would rather go out of my way to find real people to help me move and I will find alternative storage units because a company as out of touch as U haul does not deserve the support of the people and I will make sure to let as many people know about this horrible experience as I can

There's big spiders,rodents, droppings all over my property. Water damage to property as well. But uhaul went up on rent I cant make this stuff up. , I left most of my property because its damaged

I found a dead rodent & feces in a few of my boxes & watched a roach crawl from one unit to the one next to it. Not a cockroach from outside...a german roach..those relative to a nasty environment.

Very helpful staff. Calling the office can be frustrating because hold times are excessive , but that seems endemic to every U-Haul location I’ve ever used.
