Site requires more front line staff to serve Clients. Phone rental Agents need to be much clearer in discussing changs to reservations. Initially requested a pick up for 3 days and 1200Kms.Was quoted a rate which included extra Kms allowance.. Received a call that the truck was not available and could I use a 10Ft Cube. The employee helping us told me to put the parking brake on after hooking the car to the trailer (I asked again if he was sure it should be on and he confirmed yes). We towed the car a long distance with the parking brake on which caused significant damage and a costly repair.Rachel E.
I used the Truckshare feature for this rental, but didn't find it very convenient. I had to find the location barcode, then verify that my truck was available (other side of parking lot), then upload some photos, and then waited 10 minutes or more to be verified. When I finally had all that complete, I still had to go inside to get the key. I'm not sure this really speeds up the operation.Geoff D.

It was my first time using uhaul and will be my last!!! Had a trailer reserved and when I went to pick it up the tire was flat and was the only trailer that they had. The guy there called another uhaul dealer to find us a trailer which he did but where we was getting it from it needed to be one way because of the distance and I was told it was. So we drove over a 100 kms to get the trailer then when I got there I was told that it needs to be returned to the same spot. We had to drive 3 hours round trip at our expense to return this trailer with absolutely no help from the guy in halifax. And what I needed to pick up was a pool for our family which I could of used my truck but chose to rent a trailer so we could take the kids with because of it being fathers day. So our experience with uhaul ruined my father's day, the excitement of getting our pool, and took another 60 dollars from our pocket because of the 3 hours of extra driving because of the guy in halifax lying. I reserved a truck and trailer for 9 am and arrived a little before 9. There were 4 people ahead of me and by the time I got the keys it was 9:40. There was no hitch installed on the truck and I had to wait until the employee was free so I did not get out of there until 9:50. I expected because I received the truck late I could drop it off later but I had to return it at one because equipment was fully booked. The place was understaffed. It should not take 40 minutes to serve 5 people. There was only one person at the counter and one person outside. People were taking pictures of their driver's license at the counter and sometimes it wouldn't work. Have the customer upload a picture of their license during the online reservation to eliminate the time spent at the counter.Andrew R.

There were two cashiers checking people in and one left because they had to â€œwork on a truckâ€, leaving one cashier at 830am Saturday morning. Waited in line over 45 mins.Ryan S.
I arrived at 9:30 am on Saturday and stood in line for 50 min. 8 people in front of me then 12 behind me. One clerk on the desk, telling customers that there was one other person out back but she could not call her out to help unless the situation became critical. When I finally got through, the truck was supposed to be parked in spot B1. No truck there. Then they found the truck. Only 1/4 tank of gas in it. Not surprised however becuse they apologized in advance for this when they gave me the keys. Also to the person in front to me their truck was also empty. Terrible serviceRick L.

The person on the counter seemed like he was new to the position and wasn't quite sure what he was doing but that wasnt the issue the issue was that there was noone around to help him so it made the whole process 10 times longer than it needed to take. We stood at the counter for 20 mins just waiting to pay because he couldn't figure out how to insert the date to show the vehicle was returned.Colleen B.

U Haul has the best selection of trucks around so a valuable service. The main issue I seemed to have is that even though the reservation seemed to be held, it was in the wrong name, and the date at the return location was incorrect. They expected to see me at my destination on the same day I picked up the truck. We had checked in several times to make sure we were on track. So there seems to be an issue with the system and then the system was down when we tried to pay.Mark G.

We reserved a 5x9 trailer and an appliance dolly and was supposed to pick it up the next morning.When I got there service was very slow 2 clerks there and only one customer and I had to wait about 10 minutes to get served.On top of that the clerk told me that the appliance dolly that Was Reserved for me They Didn't Have,very disappointing I had to go and buy one for my move.When I returned the trailer the same day I had to wait about 15 minutes just to get a receipt,1 customer and only 1 clerk but 3 of your employees were in the store... This was my first and last experience. It was terrible. We did the mobile pick up which crashed and required us to enter all of the data 5 times before giving up and getting someone to help us. When I got my truck, the items I requested was not with the truck nor did they have them in stock. Then on return, I was told to add fuel to the truck which did not show up on my agreement so I had no idea how much until after I returned to the store. And when I did, I was told to convert the number from gallons to liters, but overspent as it was already in liters. I paid for my whole rental in fuel, and no one can give me a refund. We had a mishap in the parking lot to our personal vehicle and they called us stupid and and yelled at us for parking in the wrong spot. There was no signs indicating where customers could park. I rented a half ton pickup and it was filthy, had a Realestate sign inside, it was full of dings, I wanted the truck for 12 noon until 8, I returned the truck at 8:30 and they said I returned it at 9:30 and charged me for two days! Also on the bill they said I only requested the truck until 6 pm which is wrong. IThey also said I drove the truck for 299 kilometres which is incorrect. So it ended up costing me an extra $100+ which is an entire rip off. I wrote them at your Bayers Lake outlet via email and have been ignored. They just put you on hold if you phone and never return. Very dissatisfied and think this group is ripping me off - I've used Uhaul many times over the years and never ever have I received such poor service and felt like I was being ripped off.Ted M.

Was quoted mileage rate of .89 cents km Ireserved online and it said 89 cents km. The bill showed 1.43 so i called back and waited on hold fir a long time only to find out the bill shows mileage rate in miles. The self serve option is not efficient. I went from the truck, back to the front doors to scan the location code (maybe one could.be in the parking lot with the trucks?), then back to the truck, then back to inside for the keys. When I brought it back, the self serve option had an error when I put in the mileage so I had to drive the truck back to the entrance and return it manually. 2 issues with the cargo van I rented that were not identified before I picked up. 1) improper seal of drivers side door/window, led to significant window sounds on the highway as if a window was opened a bit. This was loud, distracting, and led to a big headache. 2) passenger side seatbelt was substantially broken/frayed halfway through. Had we gotten into a major accident, this seatbelt would not have held. This is not safe. We told the person who did our return inspection and they said â€œwow ya that should not have left the lotâ€, but we were not offered an apology, discount, or any form of reassurance it would indeed be fixed. Lastly, the location was severely understaffed on both pickup and return, which led to substantial wait times.Ashley M.

Drop off procedure unclear, no one at drop off point upon arrival. Went inside and waited in line 10 mins. only to be told at desk that I needed to go back outside and wait for employee to go over vehicle. Not impressed. the pickup location had to be changed. the original location in Dartmouth, NS was an unmanned location. the app check in did not work. I was on the phone with a rep from Uhaul for an hour! and we couldn't fix it so she relocated my pickup to another location. it was a nightmare! it took me 2 hours to finally have my truck and it was not the size that I originally reserved and there was no possibility to change it back. I reserved the truck 3 weeks in advance. there was no reason to not try to satisfy me as your paying customer. the experience was terrible on many levels and I left the pick up location angry. it sucked!!stephanie S.

2 items come to mind. #1) Place some signs that clearly indicate where ustomers can park and leave their cars when using a rental. #2) I literally was standing at the side of the counter for a solid 10mins while 2 employees totally ignored my presence and both saw me standing as instructed to do so by your self check in app. Which was supposed to speed up the process. I was very polite and stood there while they both saw me and totally ignored me as 1 employee could not stop counting his till. I worked as a cashier when ibwas 16yrs old and we were always told to acknowledge the customer at the very least and say I can help you in just a few mins or stop whatever I was doing and see if perhaps the customer just needs a quick answer which in fact I only needed to be passed the truck key!!! Without question your customer service needs to be worked on big time!!!! Also your self check-in takes far too long to process.....you need tonwork on a much faster check-in via your app so customers don't need to waste 30mins trying to get the rental and be on the road. I have used customer service and self check in and using a person is actually a little faster so please work on these mentioned items. Thanks!!Alfred W.

We rented the unit for 1 year There were numerous price increases about $150 difference . The after hours was pretty confusing so we had to move to an outside unit to have 247 hr access Our units door wouldn’t stay open we reported it and went to meet with the maintenance person but they didn’t show and apparently a work order wasn’t submitted even thou we complained. upon moving we noticed a huge leak destroying some boxes luckily it was nothing valuable. And caused minimal damage however could have definitely been a major issue. We didn’t have anything that contained food however upon moving we noticed chew boxes, materials, and rodent poop. We understand these things can happen, so we didn’t say much. The manager is pretty friendly but unfortunately I can’t say that for the rest of the staff, every time I had to speak with anyone it seemed to be an inconvenience for them. We had auto renew set up but twice there was a red lock put on our unit for no reason both times the rep saw my account was $0 and explained that sometimes there a delay with auto renew even thou the money has come out our account cause we were using a visa debit. I wish before the locked us out of our unit we paid for they verified first especially sense the reps were aware of the issue. My only negative comment would be that even though i had spoken with the manager many times and she knew we had a set leave day...which was not til 5th due to taking possession of my new home and we discussed this many times I arrived with truck trailer and moving friends with only a short window of time to move to find a padlock added to my lock to prevent me from accessing my things It felt like I was a delinquent and someone who was not paying their bills so I had to be locked out...it felt awful and it was a delay of going to office and waiting for some person to walk over to my unit It doesnt sound like much but I waa both insulted and annoyed as I was stressed already and asking favours of friends to meet that after uhaul and I knew exactly what the timing was agreed to be...saturday...as it turns out I emptied my unit by Thursday because of bad weather coming and I was told on Monday so long as I was out by Saturday I was fine That did not feel fineALISON P E. | Overall Experience

Each person I spoke with had a different price after I had reserved a truck and also there was an issue towards the end which there shouldn’t of been but it was miscommunication on U-Haul part. Overall I was very happy with my rental of both storage lockers. My only complaint was that I will billed for the entire month (December) when I moved out on the first day of the new billing period. I had tried to get out the day earlier but the moving company could not have the job completed before the access to my unit was closed at 1900. As stated by the CSR " at 1900 we close and turn on the alarms" This cost me an extra day and thus an additional 243.00 dollars spent on a unit i was not going to use again. Several times had difficulty accessing unit. One time it was an urgent need and the hallway was totally blocked by another person reorganizing their unit. Mentioned it to staff. I will be honest I do find for myself that yes it’s really great that you get storage for one month free but I got to be honest with you I move back due to daughters health reasons and I’m on disability CPP and the affordability of the units every month is very high.
