Truck was the loudest and most uncomfortable I have ever used. Not nearly as nice as Budget or Penske. Seals around doors not secure, so LOUD wind noise irritating to listen to. Had to actually open window a little ways to tolerate the sound. This of course caused worse gas mileage. In addition, U-haul has a scam with the "returning the gas gauge to the same spot." (Instead of having it filled - and filling upon return). U-haul has a deceptive policy of " put the gauge to the same space as you received it. However - when you fill the tank with the power on (you cannot leave the truck running while you fill the tank with gas) - they conveniently have the gauge run $10-15 under the actual meter, so when you "refill the tank to the same place", you actually fill it at least $10-15 OVER what u-haul gives you. It is a total scam. I despise this type of business. I never had this horrible experience with Penske or Budget Truck Rental. U-Haul could care less that they ripped me off. They told me that 3 people had complained of the same thing THE SAME DAY, but of course, they gave no refund - even though I put $13+ extra in their gas tank.MICHAELPERRY M.

Came in to rent a 6x12 trailer. After paying for it and getting it hooked to my truck we did the light test and lights weren't working.. lady went to go get something in the building told me she would be right back so I waiting in my truck in the ac she was gone for litterly 10 mins finally after I walked half way back to the building another male employee met Me said he was gonna test the lights and connections after he was finished helping a Customer to her storage unit that showed up after I got there.. after him testing stuff and me checking my fuses (which were all good) I had to disconnect the trailer and get a refund even though I was willing to get a smaller trailer but was told there was none available. We rented a storage unit for a few months while we had some working going on at home. We wanted a climate controlled unit that would not get mice or bugs. The U-Haul unit met our needs. The unit was clean and in good condition. We put a few sticky traps inside just in case something got in. At the end, the traps caught nothing and all of our boxes were in the same condition as when we put them in. Recommended. Staff was helpful too.Steven W. | Overall Experience

I rented trucks and vans in the past year like 5 times but this 1 truck was moody as my day was That DAY Break peddle pulsated like a worped drum and the lights only worked when they were done with there coffee lol only had 1 head light to start then no break lights and coming back to town lost turn signals LOL Never had anything like this w uhaul but proudly totally due to dinghy people like me that 4giit to mention lolMICHAEL ALAN U.

All was good except no one answered the phone to make the reservation. After attempting 10 times I drove 10 miles to personally reserve the trailer. Then I get quoted 29.95 for the local rental which was great, however when I picked up the trailer the girl charged me 63.00 and would not meet the 29.95 price quoted me which by the way is the advertised price. I paid the 63.00 and went on my way as I needed to move that day. Upon my return all went well and the check out went smooth as the young lady behind the counter corrected the price to the 29.95 price and all was happy.LEETHOMAS E.

Very unprofessional not very helpful was not busy and couldn't tell us where the rental was just out there ! . I have always used u haul but will look elsewhere in the future because of my experience in Holland Michigan. Every thing was then we can't rent you a truck. I am very disgusted with the way I was treated for a rental I pre-ordered. Attitude is everything and the management there was bad attitude.JASON F.
The return of the truck was very quick and easy. I did not have an understanding on how paying for highway tolls worked. I was made a promise for mileage reimbursement for the 6-10 miles that I had to travel to pick the vehicle up, instead of my online location that I made my reservation at. I discussed it with the young lady who called me to confirm my reservation the day prior but the gentleman at the actual location shows nothing pertaining to that documented in my note file. Holland location was not aware of any such offer to do so and they were great to deal with, so I let it go. I wish someone would have noted that during my phone call but outside of the calls, Holland MI Lakewoodlocation was excellent.Ronald G.
The vehicle that was rented was dangerous. Front passenger tire was bald. Not having experience in driving boxed trucks, I should have brought it back after the first three miles!! The steering wheel practically vibrated out of my hands. Under pressure to move our home we proceeded with the vehicle we were given. Brought the vehicle to a repair station and repairman said the front rt tire is dangerously bald and wheel is canted. This vehicle should never have been allowed to be rented. The stress that it gave me while driving was not conducive to safe travels.Roy L.

The man that served me was rude. First impressions, I turn up with a truck after just moving out of Chicago , tired , my truck rolled into the grass slightly. I walk inside and he Dosent even greet me and just says “is that your truck on my grass , you best move it”. I then asked if there is a storage shed close to the door , he says no and puts me in one that all the way at the end, just to make it difficult. The screen said there were heaps available. I was supposed to get the first month free and when I said I am supposed to get the first month free he says “I don’t see any record” and I said I’ll just bring the email up and then he says “too late I’ve already charged you and I don’t know how to reverse it” ! I’m stunned at his rudeness. Then when he gives me a security code to enter the facility we go to test it and it fails then we try again and fails. The he said oh well and walks away. I said excuse me , what am I supposed to do, he said oh the system is down. I said well I need a security code that works and he said it’s fine you can just put up with the annoying sound. I reserved a unit several weeks before my move. Then, while in the middle of a stressful move, I received several phone calls from U-Haul warning me that my unit was available to be rented online and if I did not rent it, I might lose it. This caused me a lot of stress and it seems U-Haul needs to fix its reservation system. If I have reserved a unit, it should not be available for any random person online to rent. The check-in/check-out system is unreliable. The alarm frequently sounds when people open their units. It happens so often that no one thinks it odd. The after hours access also does not work, so our access was limited to when the store was open. We had our unit on auto-pay for convenience. One time I tried to access my unit, but there was a second lock on it for not paying. Of course I was furious. When I went into the store, they said they had no idea how to contact me, that they had "peeked over the wall and saw the unit was empty" (which was a completely lie - it was not empty until we just vacated it yesterday), and that we had not paid. We filled out a lot of paperwork with secondary contact information when we rented the unit, so nothing they said made sense. This is an indication that they made some kind of major mistake and then tried to blame us. I never felt like my belongings were secure there or that I could access my unit at will as they advertise. Based on our experiences with this facility, I do not trust them at all and would never recommend them. We are thrilled to be out of there.Michelle L. | Overall Experience

I had a lot of problems accessing my unit. The key card/access code system often did not work - especially in cold weather. This meant that I could only access my unit during open hours. Even when the key card/access code system appeared to work, the alarm often sounded when I opened my door. While I was there, I observed it happening to other customers too. In fact, it happened so much that no one flinched when the alarm went off because it was so common. I had a lot of frustration with not being able to pay my account in advance. I tried to do this online and in person, but the system will not allow it. I would rather pay in advance than have to wait until the due date and take a chance of getting a late fee if I happen to forget. This should be updated. Thank you.Michelle L. | Overall Experience
