Horrible! Reservation was messed up. Reserved a 20' U-Haul one way and was told when I arrived that they didn't have any. Service agent was eating chili at front desk and shared way too many details about her personal life instead of helping me. Finally another agent stepped in and helped but did not communicate and made me wait a good 30 mins while he assisted others that came in after me. $50 credit was given as a U-Haul guarantee but no offer to help fix the problem till after I asked for help finding a truck. They wanted to give me $50 and send me on my way, like that was a solution to the problem, and then they tried to forget to give me the $50 until I asked for it. This was at the Telegraph location in Taylor, MI. A 15' truck was found at Inkster location off Michigan Ave. My original reservation was at 6pm which I was early for 5:15p) but by the time I finally received a truck at Inkster location it was 7:15p. Now for the issue at the Inkster location. When I arrived, check in went very well, but when I went to check in the truck on my phone, the mileage was wrong, not by a little, but more like 14,000 miles under what the odometer read. So I received an error luckily and went back inside to talk to the desk agent. I was told that I can change it on the app and I informed them, no you can't I was told 3times yes, you can and finally another agent stepped in to help me. That agent tried to send me on my way and actually told me to just ignore the app and take the truck. Well I didn't and told them I was not comfortable taking a truck with that much of a mileage discrepancy. After waiting another 20mins, it was looked into and I was told it was the wrong truck. When that got cleared up, I was finally on my way at 7:15pm only 2 hrs late. Be aware and check other rental truck companies before commuting to U-Haul. Both Locations are good for propane tank refills though!!! Yay!

MAINTENANCE YOUR DARN EQUIPMENT. It amazes me how many of my 50+ rentals this year I have had a issue with. I am tired of U-Haul putting the almighty $ before me and my families safety . I guess something major is going to have to happen before they take maintenance of their vehicles seriously!!!!!

Make sure the inside of windshield is clean. My trucks windshield was dirty and smudged. Had to clean it myself to see clearly.

The trailer size is not the actual size, the one I rented was supposed to be six feet across. But in fact where the gate is is only 56 inches instead of the 72 inches it should be,it was a waste of money and time.

First, I did not intend to use this facility. I was promised/reserved one in Ann Arbor, with a month free that came along with my rental of a trailer for a move from Virginia. When we arrived in Ann Arbor, of course, there was nothing available, not even a mobile box. They sent us to Inkster, who honored the first month free but didn't have the smaller size (less expensive unit) we were promised so we were pushed into a larger more expensive unit. Bait and switch comes to mind, and as much business as I've given your company I find it highly disappointing. I asked, at least, if I could get the the unit at the same price promised for the Ann Arbor unit. The manager said she had no control over the pricing and couldn't help me. So, here I am needing to return the trailer and no where (after the second site) to store my belongings (and I'd just driven several hundred miles.) Did I feel taken advantage of. Yes I did. And I will tell anyone who asks. It's clear your company recognizes that moving is no fun; it's also clear you practice predatory pricing and business tactics that take advantage of stressed out customers. You could change that with a simple policy: Ensure your site managers have the ability to make adjustments to help customers when your company fails to deliver what is promised -- particularly when they're sent to another city when you fail to have the reservation available.

This is the second time they've dropped the ball. I reserved a pickup truck last Friday and the app told me I had to pick it up in the pickup lanes but I had to pick it up on the other side of this big ass parking lot. I literally serviced myself instead of them servicing me. This most recent reservation, the young black man with glasses said he would close out my reservation and email me my receipt. I never received it and had to pick up my receipt literally the morning after I turned in my vehicle so I'm not charged any additional fees. This location sucks. The only people competent at their jobs are the women here and the one short Caucasian male who works there. Everyone else doesn't know what the hell they're doing but I hope my review doesn't reflect on the general/store manager because she was extremely helpful, she just needs to get new workers and that's it. I'll never rent from here again. The least I'll do is buy boxes

Pre-scheduled rental a week ahead & completed all prerequisites: even uploaded ID online. Paid for (i.e.) 5 hours same city rental; (i.e.)10-3 with pickup scheduled at 10. Showed up 5 minutes early with only 1 person in front of me. Took 15 minutes to get any front counter assistance. Once helped, I was told the vehicle was booked immediately upon my set “return time” and that ANY amount of time past drop off would be additional charges and fees. The truck was not prepped, staged, or ready & took an additional 10 minutes before it was pulled in. Once pulled in, I was told to verify fuel level & mileage; the vehicle did not display mileage because of low tire pressure sensor. Finally, once able to get assistance & air filled in tire, almost an hour had passed. I was told the amount of time for check-out was built into my rental time-window. So, realistically, a 5 hour rental became a 4 hour rental without any heads-up or consideration on the poor service & timeliness of the staff. Would not use or recommend going forward.

I did not rent anything from this location. The general manager used my name, phone number and e-mail address from another U-Haul location and rented a truck in my name. FRAUD!!!!! Theft of identity as well! I called customer service on this! This was not an accident, it was deliberate. If you rent from these crooks, watch your credit card accounts!!!

Most employees were on their phone. Everyone looked so unhappy. Trailer was kind of dirty but not damaged. The guy who was supposed to help us put it on sat on his phone and barely said anything. Everyone and everything was so miserable and to top it off I'm forced to call this morning to dispute a double charge. We dropped it off before 10 pm on the day before as instructed and they sent me a false receipt saying I dropped it off at 9:16 the next morning!?! That's a lie. Poor management and check your cameras.

The only experience I had that seemed off was with the way the contract was started. The employee recorded was the date I moved with the rented truck. I rented the storage about a week earlier So when I called to see what day my bill was due I was told the wrong date Then they charged me late fee of $25. I disputed it of course and was able to get a refund. The 2nd time I paid the bill on the due date and again was charged the late fee.I called again and was told the payment needed to be there on the due date as this time I received no credit. Then later I learned the correct one. I had a 5 day window to pay before being charged a late fee U-Haul needs to train their employees better so everybody can be on the same page. After I vacated the storage with a truck tental; I was called to tell them what date I closed the rental because it wasn't recorded properly. That is poorly conducted business to relay to customers.

Very disappointed with the mobile app return, it did not work unable to read location, called 800 number they provided 833 number was on hold for 45 min, then line disconnected, called 800 back, she noted that i returned trailer in less than 4 hrs, still got charged the full day.

The after hours check out is terrible, the battery on my phone was to low to use the camera (this is my fault) so I took a photo with my wife's phone and texted to myself but I couldn't upload it so I had to start over on her phone. Then I had to upload 2 photos to show cleanliness and the website would freeze when uploading the second photo, we had to refresh and try 6 times before it would work.

I picked up my rental today at around 10:30 AM and after picking it up a left to my destination which was one hour and 47 minutes away after getting to my destination I loaded up the car on the trailer. After leaving my destination 5 miles down the road the car looked like it wasn't strapped down after a verified two times that the car was strapped down. Upon inspection the tiedowns weren't tying down correctly so I retighten them and drove around for more miles and then the card was wiggling again. After tighten up the card two times I called the one 800 U-Haul number and told him what was going on. The lady on the phone said hold on let me see if there is another one around the area that you're in and there, but wasn't anything around available. after 10 minutes . She asked me to take it back where I got it from and get an exchange. I stopped at Harbor freight picked up a tiedown just so I can return the car to the buyer house because the trailer was an operable. I told the lady what happened and she still charged my credit card if I am going to be charged I will call my bank and dispute it because I did not get to use the trailer because it was giving to me Defective.

I ordered a dolly, which was not in the truck. When I called to tell them that they were more concerned with the fact that I didn't check before leaving, instead of just apologizing that they forgot to put it in the truck. I wasn't asking for my money back, I just asked for them to document that it was not there so I wasn't charged for it missing.

The truck exhaust was so loud couldn't hear after I drove it. Embarrassing to drive. Shocked I didnt get a ticket. Could not believe they rented it to me like that. Looked under it and it had a brand new muffler on it but it was leaking out of the pipe before the muffler and the manifold. Truck ran really bad also, it was almost stalling at the lights when you stopped. Had to drive with the windows down becuase of the exhaust smell was so bad. The check engine light was on the whole time I had the truck. I'm sure I had to pay for more gas because it ran so poorly. I was going to ask for my money back to be honest, but I returned it after hours. I was worried the whole time if I was going to have to call to have the truck towed. Worst truck rental i have ever got...the truck did not even have a dolley in the back or blankets in the back of truck. Very sad truck rental..

I placed a reservation for a trailer for 50 dollars and two days later I received a text that a trailer wasn't available so I had to take the next best thing available which was a 15 foot truck for 659 dollars. That was unacceptable but I had to do it to accomplish what I had to do. On top of that, I had 3-5 u-haul places close to my home but in order to get it for the price of 659 dollars, I had to return it to the place I picked it up from. That was crazy. So I think that I will go to Penske rentals the next time. They are more expensive than u-haul but I doubt that they will take me through the hoops u-haul had me jump through. I have used u-haul for every move that I have made for over 30 years. I'm very disappointed with the service that I received this time. The cost was too great. The location was too far. The customer service was feasible. Over all, I'm unhappy with u-haul because I made a reservation that changed and cost me 15 times that I budgeted for. I feel taken advantage of and plan to do things differently because I will need at least 3-5 rentals soon.

The self check in/pick up option was a joke. I tried to save myself and the one employee behind the counter some time by using my phone. The photos of the vehicle were not clear and did not show all of the nicks and scratches, so I went through the process of adding pics, as the mobile app directed me to do, but the app would not allow me to continue the process. I clicked to continue and nothing happened. I went back in (wasting time) and the counter employee also tried to help me with the app, but said something was wrong with the system. She said for me to take pics and save them on my phone. The vehicle I was given had 1/16 tank of gas! The vehicle was fairly clean by appearance, but it was obvious by the smell that other customers had smoked in the truck. I took it upon myself to wash the windows inside (and out) to remove some of the brown smoke residue. I also wiped down other surfaces, like the armrest and the dashboard. The truck still smelled bad, but not nearly as bad as when I picked it up. Nobody seemed to be happy working there, and I do understand that it's work, but all three people I dealt with for any moment seemed to be on edge or down in the dumps about work. I am not the type of person to want my ass kissed or for people to be phony, but these employees couldn't even fake a smile or pretend to be interested in whether or not anyone rented equipment or not. As a matter of fact, I got the impression that they would rather have had customers go away and not rent at all. I think this place is managed poorly.

One time while checking in, one of the desk people were rude when I asked how to check in correctly. I had only been one other time and didn’t have to use my card because they checked me in. When I checked out, they did not follow through with the online check out and I received a bill with a late charge. I spend 20 minutes on hold to talk to someone to get it taken care of. Did not have to pay, thankfully.

I was right with time or else I would of gone else where for storage we were also told since you rented 4 days you get the biggest room instead we got the smallest because the big room was on second floor no elevators I would die to move my heavy items on the stairs. Last time using u haul storage or unless I get some kind of credit for the trouble we were givin also was told drop off the truck there it's ok then when done we were told no you can not we had to drive another 20 mnt to another location for drop off. Frustrated and tired ....

Very unhappy customer I have been pay for my storage unit for last 4 yrs I am single mom with two boys we are broken spirits cuz they sold my unit without hear from me first they knew I am deaf they need to text me or email but I haven’t got receive my letter in mail box when I told my new address ....no body listen and I was only 2 months behind but I always caught up pay 3 months or more no problem until now it’s gone they didn’t bother look at my history and see how long I have been pay for and go for it sold my unit it torn my heart a pieces I had no way to contact when my internet down it requires high speed internet to call relay and no car to drive there but they know better by my long time 4 years history now I am unhappy customer why would I leave a great comment when my spirit is broken and my boys too

When I arrived at the storage, the room I reserved turn out to be already taken, with no other rooms of that size available. U-Haul needs to keep the list of available rooms up to date better so as not to list unavailable rooms.
