Was told by the rep to "just give me a estimate on miles, it's only a guess. We can take care of it after you drop off if your estimate is wrong" so was charged for 40 miles and only used 16! Then get told afterwards there is no reimbursement? Why was I not told this at pick up? Why did your employee make it sound like I would be refunded for unused miles! The staff Inside of store was Terribly slow. We had a online pick up of a truck went inside to ask a question about a problem we were having, went to the desk, agent said, do you see all these people go wait at the back of the line like the rest of them. We then went into get the key off the wall and was td to wait in line once again for the key. When we drove off in the truck we realized the truck was not safe at all, power steering problems. There was not a seat belt on the passenger side. The truck shook and also has some type of suspension issue. The truck we used needs to be retired. We tried calling to ask if we could get another truck and were told there were none available until 2 day later. After getting the truck home we then called the 800 number and were td the same thing and just had no other option but to keep the unsafe truck we had never ever again will I rent from uhaul. They do not care about customer safety at all from this location or the truck would not be rented like that.Sierra L.

It was a very bad experience. They tried to charge for another day. to wait for a refund. They canceled my reservation from taylor had to go to the Michigan Ave store. Made me 2 hours late.i don't think I will be renting anymore from here though it would be easy and et was a pain.then I put my classic car 1969 chevelle on the trailer and it was all over the place at 45 mph just had to fight the trailer for 200 miles. It was 3 females working at the time I brought my truck in. They were more interested in talking to each other than servicing me. One didn't even know how to do her job even though the other 2 had to ask her â€œhow long have you worked here?â€ Uhaul is the most over priced but most needed companyâ€¦they really take advantage of people with all the bullshit charges, unfriendly and lazy staff. Make sure equipment running properly,i originally rented a uhaul from Oakpark Michigan and it was running hot,called about it ,they sent a technician out,to realize,not a drop of antifreeze,so they set me up to go to Michigan location in inkster Michigan,at first I was told I had to go back to Oakpark,customer service request me a replacement,the girl didn't know what she was doing,instead she told me to go back to Oakpark,I was directed by one of my brothers to go to the back and talk to the head supervisor,he called in and they put me together,if the truck was checked to proper training,customers shouldn't have to go through this,I had to send workers home,paying them something for the inconvenience, I and my 78 year old father had to load and unload the truck, lolReginald R.

I gave the girl that waited on me the reservation number and still got the wrong trailer. I had to go back in to get the correct one, another 15 minutes wasted. Trailer tires were almost bald. Other than that, everything went wellTerry G.
Due to high demand it was difficult to get a uhaul. I reserved a uhaul at a location that was said to have the uhaul. Upon arrival I was told that the size uhaul I reserved was not working and no one had put it in the system so I could not get a different size because they were reserved. This was scary, stressful and overwhelming to someone that had to load up a truck for a wedding taking place that morning!!!!!!!! I refused to leave without a truck considering the fact that I was a customer that had reservations like the other customers. I felt less than a customer and this situation made me feel terrible all across the board. I would not recommend this location to anyone for any reason.Kenyatta Y.
I had mixed emotions rating the location. The location itself was good. The employees were professional and kind my issue technically is with Uhaul policies. If your reservation will be cancelled and your equipment re-rented, if you are late, that should be called out in the text messages and emails, not just in the fine print. Most people are use to renting a vehicle and look for process/policies to be similar. Same thing with returning blankets folded. That should be prominently called out in the return text.Andrea C.

Booked a reservation July 31 to pick up August 6, get there not only do they not have the size truck I needed, they give me a smaller truck and tell me I need to bring it back before my scheduled drop off time. Instead of me just making one trip like I had planned I had to make two to move all of my things. Which ended up being more miles than planned, and took longer than expected.LaTyra J.

The reservation of the unit went smooth. However, the key card stopped working to let me check in and move my items in. Gratefully, the store was still open, and 30 minutes before closing, they were able to fix my card. However, once I finally entered the facility, there was a customer lock on the unit which I had not put on there. There was no one available until Monday to cut the lock off, so 10 minutes before store closing, I had to be re-assigned to another unit. I am appreciate of the employee, MacKenzie (sp?), that spoke with manager and helped me get a bigger unit and a month free for the issues.Tara P. | First Impressions

the storage units smell like urine, cigarettes and fish it looks as though storages are never cleaned and never been cleaned before renting to the next customer. The storages are also not closed off which puts customers belongings at high risk for been contaminated by other customers items in storage example if someone has bedbugs and they spread my items aren’t protected because there’s a opening at the top. The price of a 4x6x8 is 70 bucks which is outrageous compared to the amount of storage you are getting, management is horrible and not easy to speak to I asked to speak to a manager and they refused to come out only kept sending the employee back and forth communication was awful and each person I spoke to gave my information that was correct they overcharged me and the manager still refused to speak with me. I had to call corporate to get things fixed properly which corporate was able to do but this store location is horrible the storage units are unsanitary and the staff needs to all get on boards with knowing the policy and prices because they amount of misinformation that was being giving out is ridiculous. This whole experience from the beginning was a significant disappointment then having a u haul truck that shook the whole drive for 11 hours was extremely hard to Handle on the highway, it should have never been rented out of state ,then check in was crazy I had experienced another customer yelling and cursing at staff and management inside the office and the whole parking lot at inkster location needs alot of work took way too long to check in staff seemed not trained in computer check in or renting storage rentals it was alot of other staff asking each other how to do this and how to do that took almost 2 hours to do check in ,I would have never expected this in the past with u haul I would love to speak to someone from the main office about my experienceDennis P. | First Impressions

First, I did not intend to use this facility. I was promised/reserved one in Ann Arbor, with a month free that came along with my rental of a trailer for a move from Virginia. When we arrived in Ann Arbor, of course, there was nothing available, not even a mobile box. They sent us to Inkster, who honored the first month free but didn't have the smaller size (less expensive unit) we were promised so we were pushed into a larger more expensive unit. Bait and switch comes to mind, and as much business as I've given your company I find it highly disappointing. I asked, at least, if I could get the the unit at the same price promised for the Ann Arbor unit. The manager said she had no control over the pricing and couldn't help me. So, here I am needing to return the trailer and no where (after the second site) to store my belongings (and I'd just driven several hundred miles.) Did I feel taken advantage of. Yes I did. And I will tell anyone who asks. It's clear your company recognizes that moving is no fun; it's also clear you practice predatory pricing and business tactics that take advantage of stressed out customers. You could change that with a simple policy: Ensure your site managers have the ability to make adjustments to help customers when your company fails to deliver what is promised -- particularly when they're sent to another city when you fail to have the reservation available.Christine U. | Overall Experience

The only experience I had that seemed off was with the way the contract was started. The employee recorded was the date I moved with the rented truck. I rented the storage about a week earlier So when I called to see what day my bill was due I was told the wrong date Then they charged me late fee of $25. I disputed it of course and was able to get a refund. The 2nd time I paid the bill on the due date and again was charged the late fee.I called again and was told the payment needed to be there on the due date as this time I received no credit. Then later I learned the correct one. I had a 5 day window to pay before being charged a late fee U-Haul needs to train their employees better so everybody can be on the same page. After I vacated the storage with a truck tental; I was called to tell them what date I closed the rental because it wasn't recorded properly. One time while checking in, one of the desk people were rude when I asked how to check in correctly. I had only been one other time and didn’t have to use my card because they checked me in. When I checked out, they did not follow through with the online check out and I received a bill with a late charge. I spend 20 minutes on hold to talk to someone to get it taken care of. I was right with time or else I would of gone else where for storage we were also told since you rented 4 days you get the biggest room instead we got the smallest because the big room was on second floor no elevators I would die to move my heavy items on the stairs.
