not only did the uhaul I reserve 3 weeks in advance suddenly at the last minute became "unavailable", I was told the truck would have 1/4 tank of gas, when I got it it only had 1/8Allen Y.

Absolutely an easy experience. I was a bit careful as I dont have a regular need for a U-Haul. Ive only rented the moving trucks in the past. Now in this new world we find ourself in i have a need for a pick up truck and have been borrowing friends until today. The price is right, and the customer service was first class. It was very easy to pick out the vehicle i needed. Easy and intuitive to fill out all the necessary documentation required for a quick check in. When i arrived, everything was ready to go! A quick verification of my reservation, swipe of the card and off i went. The staff at this particular location is why im even leaving this review. Ultra friendly, expeditious and professional. Who ever runs this operation and the supporting staff convinced me to use this as a go to for a need of a pick up truck or cargo van on a regular basis. Seriously, who ever is managing this operation clearly loves their job and it shows in the employees, the tight, clean operation as a whole Im just putting this out there because as a successful business owner myself, the overall experience I had, impressed me and i would instantly hire everyone at this location to work at my businesses. I was surprised that, having moved out the day after my monthly payment, there was no means of refunding the unused portion of the month. Mr. Curry is exceptional in his pursuit of customer satisfaction. He went out of his way to ensure that my change in plans were met and was immediately avaialble AFTER HOURS to solve a truck turn in problem. Although I didn't get this gentlemen's name, whomever is responsible for cleaning the vehicle truly cares about what they are doing. I've had many moves in a 22 year Marine Corps career and this vehicle was by far the cleanest ever rented. Making my reservation for more than 24 hours was far too difficult. It required me to make a number of phone calls; the local store having claimed there was nothing they could do. There should be some way to do this during the reservation process. U-Haul corporate needs to fix this.David S.
did not realize that the bed lite was tied to the interior dome light and had a delayed off feature. Took some time for me and them to realize the light would finally go off versus stay on and drain the battery. Clearer instructions would have been helpful. Also, never told me that the newer trucks have back up camera displays in the interior rear view mirror. Nice safety feature but would have been nice to have been told (and or to have it left on all the time since i could have used it for lane changing.MICHAEL H.

Ms.LEXI, from Lexington, and Mr. Curry, were very prompt and attentive to addressing my with my vehicle reservation, and my storage needs. Moving in my storage was made "easy breezy!" Mr. Curry was also very thoughtful in providing me with a space that was as close as possible to the entry way, as I'm a senior with knee issues. The only thing though (has nothing to do with them) is that the company would try to find something that address smoking. My issues are not with the actual pick up location or drop off locations, they were very nice, my HUGE issue is with the reservation department located in Mechanicsville Virginia according to their phone number. I made a reservation on April Tuesday April 27th, 2021 for a 26 ft truck to be picked up on June 25th, 2021 for a one way move from Richmond, Virginia to Columbia, South Carolina. I also made a reservation for a storage unit in South Carolina for June 28th that same day. On June 24th @ 8:39am received a truly short and abrupt phone call stating that they didn't have any trucks locally and that I will have to drive to Lexington Park MARYLAND to pick up the only truck that was in the area, mind you my reservation was for pick up in Richmond Va. She went over extraordinarily little details and ended the call, total call time was 2 minutes and 25 seconds, before I even had a chance to register all that she told me. I attempted to call the number back immediately after she disconnected me but sat on hold for over 2 hrs trying to get a representative in Virginia, as they were the only team that could help. I was able to speak with a representative from NC that was some help but was not given another option but to pick up the Uhaul in Maryland. I was given some compensation off my original quote but that only truly covered the overage to pick up in a completely different state. Lexington Park MD is 110 miles one way from Richmond Virginia. I was at the time by myself during the moving process and was planning on Ubering to the pick location in Richmond Va. I had to SCRAMBLE to find help in my situation. Luckily, I had a GENUINELY nice neighbor that took time out of their very busy life to go get the Uhaul. This was a 5.5-hour round trip. This not only took time away from my neighbor but myself from packing! We did successfully pick up the Uhual, thankfully and I hoped that this would be my issue with Uhaul, well it was not. We got everything loaded in Richmond and drove the truck to South Carolina with very little issues, got some of the Uhaul unloaded at one location and then went to the storage facility, where a reservation had been made 2 months prior for a 1st floor climate-controlled unit. I went to check in and the woman at the counter, which was nice, she then informed me that the only 1st floor units they had were not climate controlled. They only had 1 climate controlled until my size on the 2nd floor and oh by the way the elevator is BROKEN!!!!!! I again had no other option but to take it as it was the ONLY unit they had left. Again, the person working there was incredibly nice, and I am sure she had no control over the fact that they were overbooked. This entire move with Uhaul cost me so much extra time, tears, frustration and upwards of over $500+ because of labor, extra gas and extra expenses I had not budged for. Plus, I still had to take the truck to another location in South Carolina after we unloaded at the storage unit because they could not take a big truck there. I received a call back July 2nd, from the same rude woman that informed me that I would have to drive to Maryland. She stated that she received a complaint regarding my case, and that she gave me plenty of compensation for the rental and that she would give me a $50 refund, but she didn't think I deserved it at all. This again was another very quick one-sided phone conversation as I did not want to fight with her. She was very rude in tone and seemed less than compassionate of my situation and all the stress that this company has caused in the last 2 weeks for me. I have found out after the fact that I was to receive my reservation fee back, which is in the amount of $50, so there truly is no real refund she was providing. I will have to make another move in the upcoming months and there is NO way that I will use Uhaul for that move. They could not even pay me to use their services EVER again.Courtnie S.

On Sunday, July 4th, I contacted the IHaul store of Lexington park and spoke to a man named Kyle. I had informed him that I would like to gather information about â€œif I were to request to extend the use of the vehicleâ€. He told me that wouldn't be possible because there was another family due to use it the next day. And that it needed to be returned today at 6pm. This phone call occurred around 3 pm. I told him I understood by is there nothing he can do to extend my use of it. I told him I had having significant trouble with completing its use by the due time. He told me that there were no other vehicles; that one was out being used and the other had a bad battery. I asked if the battery could be expedited replaced. He said, that's not how this works, this is uhaul. He then told me that if I extend the use, I'll have to pay for the entire bill of the family who reserved it on the 5th. I asked what the cost for that was. He itemized my current charges and informed me that â€œyou've already have been charged, it's doneâ€. This entire time he was extremely rude and Impatient. I explain more than once that I'm just asking to understand what happens and this is all hypothetical. He didn't care and interrupted me. When I asked what else can be done, after asking for the fees, he said it's already been taking care of. That I made this really difficult but he discounted the other person and extended my rental. I thanked him and he hung up. I am extremely displease with my experience at this location. Associate Kyle had an extremely poor attitude and made me feel unwilling to want to continue business with this location. I am disappointed and dissatisfied with his service. Lastly, I had some complications during the mobile check out process. It was very non-user friendly. It requires you to verify information using a chat, which wasn't functioning well, refreshed me once back to the start (taking selfie, DL photos) and overall wasn't very happy with the interaction. I was requested to provide a secondary contact to verify me, my wife, and told me the associate on the phone was very short and was rude to her. I understand that there is a process to things however, the mobile check out process delayed my actually check out by 30 mins and nearly had several consequences as I was almost late to the trash facility.Tyler F.
Great u-haul people. And I'll tell ya Mr UHaul â€” each Location, and pick up and drop off, the fantastic U-Haul employees. And they had to use the personal phone for drivers license and check in and check out of the equipment. I kind of find that appalling. I understand, I really understand that you don't wanna provide them a cell phone, (and I'm told your cell phones are garbage), but I gotta believe U-Haul could pay them 20 bucks a month for a use of their phone . Throw them a bone - throw your maybe minimum wage employees a bone - and give them a specific benefit if they are going to use their personal cell phone for your benefit. rental was clean but there was a problem with the trailer lighting but the associate finally got them working. It was no more then 30 minutes into my trip when I lost all lighting on the trailer and it was pouring rain. They told me to call roadside assistance they had no one there to come out. I hate U-Haul. You all know that you are the only option. As such, you let â€œfranchiseesâ€ run your show. There is zero control and no accountability. Shame on you, U-Haul. Centralize your operations. And don't make your poor â€œTraffic hubsâ€ jump through hoops to make up for the poor showing of the franchisees. Mention to drop off Agent the A/C went out on my trip, ask if there where any compensation for not having working A/C. He was very nonchalant and insensitive about my concern, and said no, if I did not call service team to replace truck, there was nothing he could do and walked away after he clear my contract. No improvements necessary. The General Manager, Karl Curry, went well above and beyond to help me secure a trailer needed for a move that day because the dispatching center called me and informed me that the trailer that I had reserved (3 May @ 1800) was not going to be at the above pickup location. They informed me that the two closest locations were over 4 hours away! Mr. Curry spent considerable time on the phone trying to locate a trailer for me, but at that time to no avail. He said that the soonest he would have one at his location would be Wednesday (5 May), so I reluctantly agreed, which was going to hamper my move. I was on my way home, when Mr. Curry called me and informed me that he now had a trailer for me. I returned to his location and picked up the trailer and was able to complete my move as originally planned. So, once again Mr. Curry showed one heck of initiative and persistence in helping me. I reserved a 10x20 unit to store my 3 br house goods in. Upon arriving (three days before my goods are delivered) i was informed that my reservation was not available and that this storage facility doesnt even have a 10x20 space, that they use a 10x15 and a 10x5 to make it that large. Also, there were no 10x15 available, so i needed to get THREE units to get the dame footprint as a 10x20... this would not work for me as i have large items that are longer than 10 feet. The staff seemed un-caring and unhelpful. I ended up paying more at a competitor storage facility for a 10x20 that wasn't falsely advertised. Re: the truck rental, I declined the hand truck and bag of blankets — twice — and yet, there they were, attached to the entrance of the back of the truck, taking up space and in the way of loading items, particularly long items that had to be lined up. Check in process causes the alarm to go off every single time you swiped the card, didn't quite understand why.
