Ramp pulled out and stored very easily. I highly recommend 1200 Newfield location. Will definately be a repeat customer if the occasion arises again.

NICHOLAS CWhile the staff was very friendly & tried to help, the facility is in poor condition. The security gate doesn’t work, and we were forced to store our things in the dark. It was dusk halfway through and the light would not turn on. I did get a worker to come over. She apologized but stated she could not resolve it.
YVETTE S | First ImpressionsI went online and set up a reservation to rent a 10 ft. box truck. I rented it for 4 hours around 3:30pm and I was back by 5:20pm. When I pulled up to the gate, I launched the U-Haul app to get the code to get through the gate and to start the return process. Unfortunately, the rental wasn't showing up under the active rentals. Therefore, called customer service and told them about my issue. While on the phone, the gate started opening, and the employee Brianna who assisted me initially with the rental was leaving the facility. I began explaining to her the issue that I was having and she starting interrupting me telling me to just park the truck and leave. She didn't even get out of the car to help me in any kind of way. Seems like they are used to customers having an issue with the app after reading their reviews. She then parked outside the gate in her car until I parked the truck. As I was walking to the gate, she used the remote to open the gate for me to leave. Super rude and impatient!!!! I will never go there again. Worst U-Haul experience ever!!!

THOMAS NArrived at the uhaul and asked to rent box truck. They said they had none on site. Asked for a van then and still said no moving vehicles were in site for the day but would have them the next day. Told me I could go on the app and rent from two other locations in my area it just had to be through the app. Walked out and downloaded the app.. took forever. Then the app gave me my truck number and license plate but no location. App texting was giving me no response. Called the help line transfered twice to the final woman who kindly told me my truck was ready and at the ORIGINAL location I was to start where they told me there were no moving vehicles to rent for this day. Horrible communication and horrible customer service. Wasted a whole hour trying to figure it out when they had a moving truck ( several actually ) the whole time

She had to get out the snow blower which she said she didn't know how to use. When she was getting out the snow blower, the sliding door closed and hit her in the back of the head. I thought she was going to die when I saw it sliding down. She cleared out the snow to my unit. The minimal amount to get my car in. Got out and still stepped in snow. A day later and the area is still icey and snowy. The area in front of my unit is slippery and icey. It was kind of a shitshow. There is a brand new cube smart half the distance from my place. Kind of wish I went there instead.

LISSETTE R | First ImpressionsLiterally every time I attempted to use my after hours card there was some reason it wouldn’t work, I would correct it with staff, which of course had to take place the next day, I wouldn’t be able to get my stuff, and then the next time it would happen again. The office hours aren’t helpful and are deceitful even, I called and tried to make sure there would be someone there when I came due to my constant issue with my card and the person on the phone said they would be there until 9 locking up and finishing work just in case I had a problem and I could ring the bell. 8:30 I arrived and no one was there and I called the after hours line was told I was crazy, that no staff stays after 8 ever. Finally, after moving out weeks after I intended due to this, I paid my bill a little late because suddenly they didn’t have my card on file, even though when opening it they took my ID and a credit card, but did indeed pay after I learned this. Cut to a month later yesterday and I got sent another bill with interest on another month of services and was told don’t worry the account is closed that sometimes that can happen in error due to a miscommunication with corporate. Overall, I would say they’re doing the minimum and making the most from us and I have no desire to recommend it to anyone with all the other options so nearby.

Alexis went out of her way on our moving day which is typically a stressful day. When schedules started getting out of line for us she stepped in and made suggestions. I do have to comment on one issue that occurred during the two weeks with uhaul. This was a local move and I rented a van on several different days. Once I reserved a van in the AM for that afternoon to pick up new furniture I just purchased. On line it showed there was one van available. I called just to verify my reservation and the one van being there. I was told by the young man answering the phone that if someone comes off the street they will get that van before me so he can’t guarantee it will be there. 🙄…..what would be the point of a reservation then? Perhaps he was a new employee. But the positive experience outweighed the single negative one. I would recommend this particular Uhaul facility to everyone! Thank you so much!

I wasny able to make ip for the list time moneycand jobs and lost my business. I went in again to get another unit and the same thing happened only thus time I hot the unit but it wasn't I'm my name and if I moved my stuff into it before it was noticed I gad a unit but it wasn't in my name and someone could of stole everything

I thought the units were a bit pricey from where I started. I couldn't negotiate that I offered almost 400.00 per month income and knew as I told management I could guarantee a few years, 4k per year, thousands through the years and should have had some sort of discount: faithful payments for specified time, senior, AAA etc. Everyone is friendly and helpful and that is important to me. Having no interior unit lighting really is not ok for the amount paid each month for large units. I did appreciate the bait traps all around to help with rats and mice from ruining furniture etc. I had no evidence of damage from varmints. That is a super plus.

Also, the unit looks like it was a larger unit that was subdivided and the door was made of plywood and needed repair. It did lock, but it wasn't exactly in great shape. The staff overall were friendly and quick when it came to renting and moving out but the storage facility is absolutely horrible. Never again would I use an outdoor uhaul storage facility.

All my boxes on floor were mildewed and had to throw away over half of our clothes and towels. When I called to complain I was told that’s how they close and they couldn’t guarantee there would be no water damage and last and DEFINITELY not least the mice/rat issue is terrible!!! Between the rat droppings EVERYWHERE & they ate through a lot of our things from coats to shoes! So between throwing 70% of our belongings away and paying $174 monthly we lost A LOT of money and personal belongings. I would suggest addressing the pest control issues ASAP!!!

The first one we looked at still had a few pieces of junk left in it from the old tenant. It was probably never cleaned after they checked out. The one we actually rented was still not clean either, it had not been swept out, we had to do that. Also, the door to the unit is only a plywood door (it's a door from an inside hallway) and it was in a bit of disrepair. The units could use a good freshening up for sure, but it will do for what we need, I think.

Peter Z | Overall ExperienceFrom day 1 moving my belongings into this particular storage facility I had problems thatNO ONE would address. I had a problem with the mechanism where you attach your lock to so that your belongings are safe. It was bent and we had to put my belongings into the facility while bending down to get under the door that would only go half way up. I was reassured that it was going to be fixed right away. After a month if not hearing from anyone about fixing the mechanism I called and was told a message was being left for the manager of the facility as well as the person who does all of their repair work. Another month went buy and I was told that there was never any complaint put in the system regarding the lock. I made another complaint and waited 2 weeks with no communication from anyone. I called UHAUL customer service and made a complaint which I was reassured someone would call me on the next 24 hours. I did not here from the manager until 4 days later and she promised me that I would get a call so I could come out while her repairman fixed tge problem. Another 2 weeks went by and no communication from anyone again. Well you get the idea. Tge unit lock was NEVER fixed. And upon moving out 2 RATS came out of my unit while we were moving my belongings out. BAD MANAGEMENT- TERRIBLE UOKEEP OF PROPERTY IN ALL ASPECTS. I will NEVER use UHAUL for any of my storage needs again and have told my family and as I go I will continue to tell EVERYONE I know.

Eugene M | Overall ExperienceSafety within the fencing and gate seems very good. Location is central and convenient within Middletown. The experience was overall pretty good. I don't really have any experience with other facilities to compare what is average, above average, or below average. I'm sure you know that a new facility just opened on Washington Street. It offers more spacious driveway and site layout without the added challenge of truck rentals. Your prices are high but were competitive when I searched - they are high everywhere due to overwhelming demand and insufficient supply. I hope the new place on Washington Street helps meet the demand locally within this lucrative industry! Your staff was kind and helpful always, seem to do their best to juggle many tasks simultaneously. My last day there was frustrating as my card to open the gate did not work but the gate was opened for me timely when I arrived. It does seem to open very slowly and close before all vehicles can exit at times. There were however backups of vehicles trying to get in and out while I was there and at departure. It WAS the 1st of the month, perhaps a busy day for this business. Others seemed to be equally frustrated and honking. I had 2 vehicles join me, one with a trailer in order to move my belongings out of the unit. Both honked for some time upon arrival, then had to call me to go to the office to request the gate be opened. The driver with the trailer was behind another honking and waiting car therefore stuck with his trailer still on the street! The system of honking for the only staff person to open the gate for each entry and departure (as not everyone has a card, and mine did not work) seemed to be problematic not just for us but for others too that day. Add moving trucks coming and going this seems like it would be more so, though I only saw one that day parked next to the office for a while. Due to the busy Newfield Street location and a short driveway on the street side of the gate this is especially problematic. The aisles for vehicles are challenging especially with trucks coming and going; the ones around the sides of your lot seem very narrow. At entry I could never seem to get close enough to the swipe pad so had to open my car door, get halfway out of the vehicle and reach to use the swipe. I've seen others struggle trying too. Exit access though is fine.

The gate hours to this facility were not terribly inconvenient, but there was one time that I had to get something at night. I got there at 10:20 and the gate wouldn’t open. It cost me an hour of driving and I had to go back early the next morning. With security cameras and lights, I don’t understand the concept of having a restricted access gate locked at 10 pm. My impression of the cleanliness of the facility is not all negative. Their office space is clean, but my storage unit had a serious rat or large mouse problem. My things were littered with droppings and several of our items were chewed by rodents. I had a very expensive Spyder ski jacket that has a hole chewed through it It was stored in a cardboard moving box. My daughter has two or three bins of stuffed animals and craft supplies that were chewed up and nests were made. This issue is my biggest and only real complaint about my experience. To their credit, there are rodent traps visible outside but they didn’t stop them from getting my things. The staff was always very helpful and friendly, particularly on finding the right size and accommodating a move from a smaller unit to a larger one after I realized I needed more room. I would definitely recommend this facility and would use them again if I needed to. I would make some changes in how I stored certain items as far as containers, and maybe putting in some moth balls or other type of rodent repellent. Overall a pretty good experience with a few disappointments that, I don’t believe, were a result of staff negligence.

Along with all of the basic facility offerings being sufficient, what made our experience so great was the help and support we reccieved from the front office. This mother and daughter duo went well above and beyond in helping us; helping us achieve things that they didn't need to do. They helped us saw off a faulty door lock in frigid weather, held on to boxes were were in need of and much more. In short, they were "good neighbors" at a time when life is difficult for us all. They were consistently friendly and helpful and for us, that says it all You should consider using this U HAUL storage area if you ever in need. We sincerely thank you for everything!

The professionalism and kindness that she gives everyone of her customers is just AMAZING! Not only for me, but for everyone that I watch her interact with. I own a couple local businesses and I have used your facility a lot in the last year. As a business owner, I tend to watch the customer service element at other businesses. It is exceptional ! It will take several days for all the contents to be cleaned up and ready for use. That was unfortunate and maybe there can be more attention in the future to making the inside of the units more tightly closed and less exposed. Otherwise the staff was very helpful and the grounds clean and welcoming.
