had to wait 25 minutes before they brought out the truck. Major inconvenience to pick up the truck with just a quarter tank of gas and much more difficult to bring it back with just a quarter tank. But more profitable for U-Haul that way. Bad move!MICHAEL K.

Have had great experiences previously here, so maybe this was a blip. Unprofessional this time- listening to the associates discussing personal details of another customer. The truck was not ready and it was filthy as documented. The photos of truck condition were not accurate either- two different colored bumpers. Upon returning waited a long time at the gate to come in and find 3 employees just chatting behind the counter not paying attention. I was treated as an interruption to the office gossip not as a customer. The truck itself was in rough shape- only used it for 12 miles but would not have taken on highwayâ€¦JEREMIAH G.

When rented at horizon I asked pickup Friday and return Monday am! The printer only worked as super fine print a magnify glass needed! We got done and drop off early! The lady was so rude and talked down on us. Almost mad because we 6 hour late even tho we thought contract was for Monday. This was as rude as ever been treated! We paid extra $$$$ and left. Gas was full at drop off was docked for gas on receipt. Paid for tape and dolly on online reservation and was double charged for equipment on final receipt. When we got to the location to pick up there were two employees one helping everyone and a young lady who was walking around on the phone not helping the young man with the line of customers in the store then when she got off the phone she was talking about some drama with her aunt it was very unprofessional. I have no issue with the particular location I rented from. However this is the second time I have reserved a uhaul in recent months and both times my pick up location has been moved 29 miles away meaning I have to pay more in mileage and use more gas that I am also expected to replace. I also had to reach out to 3 different people before someone could help me complete the process for checking out without someone there. What this experience has told me is that I cannot trust to get a uhaul after hours (which given my schedule will likely be the time I use it) and I cannot guarantee even through a supposedly guaranteed reservation that I will get a uhaul where i request it and for that inconvenience I have to pay more money. My pick up experience was great considering my reservation was canceled at another location for no reason. The gentleman who checked me out on 8/27 was fabulous great customer service but when I returned the vehicle the girl was more irritated because she had to stop eating to check me back in. I got a pick up truck and it was dented and dinged up all over, and I believe it was a brand new truck. The inside had a cigarette burn hole in the drivers seat, the dash was dirty and dusty and it smelled gross inside the cab. It had a half tank of gas and I felt like it should have had a full tank of gas. I rented equipment from this location and after the paper work was done, I was directed to the rear of the storage unit to pick up the trailer. There was no offer to help, no checking to make sure if it was connected correctly, no nothing. I was on my own.Amos M.
I was told to pick my truck up in Huntersville North Carolina, when I got there I was told that I have to pick my truck up in Mooresville North Carolina without an email from the U-Haul company. That was really a big inconvenience being that I had to drive an extra 20 miles to Mooresville to get the truck and an extra 20 miles back to Mooresville to return the truck. Staff not attentive. Pulled up and stopped where indicated and remained in my truck as the sign instructed. Waited 15 minutes and no one came out to help. Went inside, three employees chatting and my truck clearly visible on cameras. Guy grabs paperwork and tells me to drive to the back of the building, back up into a space and unhitch. It was impossible to tell where to drop off the truck after hours! The sign said drop off was behind a gate - I had no code and no one answered the call button on the gate speaker. I had to just leave the truck in the tiny little front spaces, and hope for the best. Apparently it worked, as I got an email receipt, but there REALLY needs to be something done to accommodate after-hours returns. I had no idea what to do!!!Roger H.

Speedometer fluctuating between 10 and 15 miles per hour. Couldn't really know the speed I was driving at. Drivers side mirror moved while driving. Couldn't readjust while moving. Mirror was unusable. Rented two trucks at the same time. Drove them exactly the same distances refueled the same number of gallons before returning them. One gas gauge hit the mark for a no charge fuel fee while the other truck missed by 1/8 of a tank causing me a $30 fuel service fee and 3 gal of fuel for a total of $45.75. Customer service would not remove the fuel charge.David C.

Uhaul employees tended to speak in vernacular. “Have you moved in” - to me means have I moved my things into the unit. To them it meant fill out the paperwork online. And then the employee (I think it was the manager whose picture is all over) seemed irritated that I didn’t know what she meant. Overall, facility meets expectations. Bathrooms filthy at all times, almost never cleaned except by me. Another tenant allowed to play ridiculously loud music even after multiple complaints, in violation of the contract term's, making it near impossible for me to do my work. I had to constantly reschedule work and do my work around his hours. A/C and ventilation to my office hasn't worked in over a month as of my move out date. My experience was wonderful up until I asked to extend my unit for 1 week. I moved from out of state, and the closing on my house was held up a week. I was told no, that they would have to charge me over $500.00 for 1 extra night. I asked if I could speak with someone in corporate, and was told they would direct the call right back to her, and the answer is no. I was willing to prorate for a whole week even though I only needed 1 night. We were storing an enclosed trailer here and had a wonderful experience. We no longer have that trailer and that is the only reason we no longer need their service. We also needed to rent a large indoor storage area and when they did not have anything available that would meet our needs, directed us to a nearby U-Haul facility that could accommodate us. My grandmother had a storage building with you since 2018. I was on her account as someone who had access or a backup I was told. She had been making payments to you writing checks.. Covid had been rough on us we werent allowed to come help her much except through a window to the outside. This facility somehow was contacting her to remind her to make payments as her checks were going to this place.. I know because I had to drive to the facility to make sure they had one in hand and to get assurance they were cashing it... One check went for over a week without being deposited I had to ride up there to question payment and then someone found her check laying where it shouldnt have been... She passed away a few weeks ago and I was her backup on her account I went to clear out the locker yet Nobody every let me know that her account was in error. Calling this place is near impossible yet every time we show up someones on that phone on a personal call outside smoking on that phone so I know it works its not hard to know its personal because you can hear the conversation through that door or see someones cell phone to their ear not other company gets to make personal calls on the clock, But nobody called me and her phone at her rest home didnt have calls missed either. We didnt receive any notices. I questioned the address and someone had it addressed wrong.. that address being wrong didnt make sense as we have rented trucks and Ive shown my ID several times and thats clearly printed on my ID.. So basically on her what would be birthday a few days ago had she not passed away shortly before this place sold a 130 year old bed that she was born in for a mere 45.00 that was in her storage along with other items left to my siblings and my cousins. The girl who talked to us wasnt much help, she said this is only the second time this had happened and was freaking out we havnt heard from them. Its a shame that backups arent utilized and employees at this station toss in typos for contacts without confirming them off IDs they scan.Corrinna F. | Overall Experience
It was horrible. I rented a storage unit on Saturday went back to access it Sunday after hours. To find somebody else lock on the unit. So I had no access to it. Losing all the help I had. So I returned on Monday with a truck full of stuff my wife and my self. (Losing a days pay from work). To get absolutely no help from cashier. Passing along my problems to the manager. Who in turn tried to open the unit by drilling the lock. Must of tried for about two minutes. Than telling me there was nothing she could do. But refund my money back not telling me that there was a 50 dollar guaranteed for not fulfilling my reservation. Another customer told me. So than I had to argue with her about it. Didn’t bother offering me another unit. Nothing. She basically sent me on my way. I do understand the times we are living now, and this locations seems to be overwhelmed, I was planning to keep the storage unit, but I found several times that the door was not working properly at off hours. Having to call a number to get a passcode because the remote was not working. Always the in/out main door blocked with customers, truck and trailers. Not friendly staff, always blaming the customer, I can tell their life is miserable, because they do not enjoy being there, with such a cluster. After renting the unit I found that it was an indoor unit with no outside access. I am elderly and walk with a cane; I cannot handle an indoor unit; I must be able to drive my vehicle directly to the storage unit. I immediately - within minutes - contacted the U-Haul facility, told them my situation, asked to cancel the rental, and requested a refund. So far, the U-Haul facility has not cancelled nor refunded. I only gave this facility an average rating because when I arrived to move-in to the storage unit which I reserved back in March 2021 it had been rented out to someone else. The staff in the office were great and made every effort to find accommodations for me in the area (which were sold out). I was assisted with finding a unit in NC by Jared Merlin. He always represents the U-Haul brand in a great light. When I arrived in NC, I was helped by Joseph who took the time to walk me the through the process step-by-step. He walked through the rain to show me where the unit was and showed me the do's and don't of working and locking the garage door. He was pleasant, professional and made the experience very easy.
