JuTias BThere is a sign posted that states if you would like to leave an item in decent condition you may leave it in this area. I had met a person moving out of the facility and I told him he could have my bedroom set. He informed me his truck was full and he would return and retrieve the items. I was told by a worker that I could not leave the items in the designated area for him, that I had to take it. I informed her that it would not fit into my vehicle and I called the person in front of her, that I had promised the items too. She still insisted that I remove the items. Five minutes after breaking the bed post the person arrived. This is not good customer service and they wanted me to pay a $150.00 fee to leave the items for the person. This is not good customer service! I had rented my storage bin for 2 years.

We left at almost 12 and with just before 1 they were calling me to return the truck... where I rented it for 4 hours, apart from the things I rented they never delivered to me and they are so outrageous that apart from what I paid I see that they are charging my card with a value of 60.34 dollars... to top it off the gas light came on as I had just left, where supposedly I had a quarter. On top of spending $300 each month for the unit there was a pillar in the middle of the unit and didn’t receive a percentage off of my total money due.

Ryan G | Overall Experiencethe person [s] that were there to help did nothing but complain and call my guys lazy and incompetent's. the only way they represented themselves and my guys was through the U-Haul app....i don't think this is hardly the way to run a business...there should have been someone inside the store to help my lead man with picking up the truck with a computer at hand to look over the reservation i made in advance of them getting there. it took them 2 hours to get this settled and 6 calls to me in CT 3 hours away....it took me several calls more to your people in Newark to get this all straightened out. then on top of all this crap they gave them, they indicated that they would get the truck that was parked 4 rows behind other trucks....in order to expedite this why couldn't your people give them a truck in the front row and let my guys be on the way. this is the stupidest way to do business, if U-Haul would train they're people instead of just looking at numbers all year perhaps the reputation of U-Haul would be better.

BOLUWATIFE OHave the equipment ready to go upon arrival. My truck was stuck between other trucks and had to wait for the surrounding trucks to be moved. I ordered furniture pads and those were not present. I had to go ask for them. Aside from this, the staff was great. The truck however smelled like someone had been smoking packs of cigarettes in there.

My single suggestion is that the location place signage showing the exact location of the key drop because I had difficulty finding it to return to return the vehicle key, otherwise my experience was flawless.

People would just leave things in the halls. The employees were extremely slow in the office. Waiting in line for 30 mins is crazy. I paid my bill and was then charged a lien fee AFTER my unit was paid in full! I called the store about this and was on hold for an hour. I stayed on hold and called from another phone and was transferred to corporate. THEY then transferred me to the store and they picked up immediately. Meanwhile, I'm still on hold on my other phone. I told the employee about the charge and he said he would look into it and call me back in 15 minutes. It's been a week and I still haven't received a callback or refund. I was still on hold on the first phone when I ended the call with the employee. I also received an email WHILE ON THE PHONE with the employee saying I need to pay. I had already completed the moveout procedure WITH PHOTOS via the app the day prior. I had already returned my key card to the front desk. How is this not in your system? Why am I being charged for a unit I don't even possess anymore?! This place is the worst and I will NEVER store my belongings here.

JULIAN CI’ve used U-Haul in the past for my moving needs at a different location however the 370 Orange Street in Newark was the best thus far. The Cargo van did indicate an Oil change was due and the key fob did need to be addressed which I did include upon my return. Customer Service was great from beginning to end! Would recommend to anyone!

The other guys were scrambling like chickens with their heads cut off. On the busiest day of the month, i watched Norma SINGLE HANDEDLY serve 8 customers inperson while also handling phone calls. Whatever you're paying her is not enough.
Tidjane SThe 1st day I rented the truck the female employees attitude I dealt with was ok but she made a mistake on my order, I was cool. She came out to truck with me for truck check & we both confirmed the gas level was incorrect & only on 1/8 tank of gas. She told me to change it to that on phone check for truck. I went back to that location the next day to extend rental for 1 more day. She then made her second mistake on my order stating 1 more day is $162. She asked for my card, I declined handing it to her. I told her there has to be a mistake the 1st day cost me $76.25 & could she correct whatever she did wrong. She claimed she did it correctly & to hand her my card, I still didn't. Another coworker walked up & I asked them to assist & they did. They acknowledged that she did it incorrectly because she was charging me for 2 days & she added insurance I didn't ask for nor previously had on there. The other coworker corrected & the total was $77, which made sense. I then handed the card over. I was charged $77 & change on day 2 with the second card I handed them but it didn't make sense because the card I used on day 1 was charged $100, so it she have left a credit of $23.75, making day 2 charge only a charge of less than $54. Her attitude was very rude. On day 2 I was coming up on the return time but unfortunately didnt have all of my items out yet, so I called location to extend 1 more time to get my things out of truck. On this phone call it was answered by the same female who assisted before, she was super rude on this day. I asked if the company offered extentions for a couple hours she rudely said no. I have been a uhaul customer for over 30 years & I have encountered locations that had provided a little longer pass return time with another days charge. She informed me I would be charged for an entire day, I advised her that would be fine. She rudely told me to have the truck back in 4 hours, then she hung up. That was VERY RUDE & I wasnt done so I called back asking what was the charge since she made so many mistakes over the last 2 days with my charges. She said $100 dollars. I asked how is it that she keeps making so many mistakes. I now thought it was intentional so I asked that, she got even more unprofessional & upset. I told her since I paid for the whole day I would return at my original pick up time. She said NO BRING IT BACK IN 4 HOURS BECAUSE SOMEELSE JUST CALLED RIGHT AFTER ME. I knew that was a lie I called right back instantly & she didn't claim any of that Before saying she charged actually $77.45 on 3rd charge to one of my cards. I told her I paid for whole day & please change it, she said ok should would change it, but never did, becuase the order stated I would return on day 2 by 7pm, unlike what we discussed. I felt that was to intentionally cause me another over charge. In total UHAUL employee charged me $307.17 ,1st card $100, second card $207.17=$307.17. WHICH IS WRONG & AN OVERCHARGED THAT I FEEL WAS INTENTIONAL. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DAY 1 $76.71 which was charged on one card as $100.which should of had the $23.77. Day 2 on new card was $77.45, but should have been had $23.77 credit added to it, making it $53.78. Day 3 was $77.45. Which totals $231.61. When I returned the truck on day 2 Drc. 13th by 7pm even though I stated I would bring it back on Dec. 14th by 2. I left with getting the receipt, MY BIG MISTAKE. I RETURNED THE TRUCK WITH A LITTLE MORE GAS THEN WHAT WAS PROVIDING TO ME ON DEC. 11TH DEPARTURE THAT ME & HER CONFIRMED HAD LESS GAS THEN ORDER STATED WHEN SHE TOLD ME TO CLICK AN 1/8 OF A TANK & I DID. ON MY RETURN OF TRUCK IT HAD 1/4 TANK OF GAS WITH IT MORE THAN 1/8 BUT UHAUL THEN CHARGED ME $30 & $27=$57 FOR A FUEL FEE WHEN I ACTUALLY GAVE THEN MORE GAS BACK IN RETURN. SO THAT FEE SHOULD NOT HAS EXISTED. AFTET ALL THESE MISTAKE & ALL THE UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE, HOW COULD I NOT FEEL THIS WAS INTENTIONAL. I inquired getting a refund because its literally on the day I moved in and they said that’s how their units worked. I did tell the manager had i known this information i would’ve moved out on 7/23/24. I got frustrated and cleaned out as much as I could that day and returned the following day to continue emptying the unit out. My move out date was 7/25/24 however they never closed out my account on that day apparently. I provided the front desk with keys, lock, original contract and the requested video footage of the empty storage unit on the same day. However I was called twice about my storage unit after it was emptied and was asked if I was still occupying it. I told them no both times. Both calls I was told an email would be sent closing my account but that did not happen. It wasn’t until the 3rd encounter they closed my accounted dating it as of 8/5/24, which is incorrect. I notified the person on the phone I will not be held responsible for any damages or issues post 7/25/24 because I followed directives as indicated by staff.

Once the check in process was finally complete, the storage unit was entirely too small to store the item. There also ended up being no available storage units large enough to store the item as the staff member personally went above and beyond to show us available units. At this point, I already had returned the truck rental so I had to rent and pay for another U-Haul truck in order to move the item to another storage unit. I do commend the staff member for trying her best to assist.

In December my belongings sustained water damage as a result of a storm which caused a leak at the storage facility. Upon removing my items I noticed several damp items, some of which sustained mold damage. This is not only a hygiene issue but also a health one. Uhaul (not the location the company) should have made a concerted effort to support me in having my belongings cleaned or replaced as your facility’s inability to withstand rain is not my issue nor my rental insurance provider’s issue.

When I went to try and get another unit the next morning, the lady at the front desk was very rude and not helpful at all. She said they did not have an available unit at that facility and refused to help me find anything at another facility, telling me to “do it yourself.” I ended up calling the East Orange location where I had gotten the truck and they helped me find a unit at the Orange location. The reps at that location were very helpful. In my opinion, the Newark location is the worst in the area.

I was charged insurance when I specifically asked not to, only to be told later that you "informed me later but now I've charged it ". I mean c'mon!

I was fearful they would pass out due to the unsafe conditions presented. I would like to speak with a manager or the owner about this as well as request changing my unit to a lower level. Additionally, there should be ac throughout the building.

I always have to wait until an early Saturday mooring to retrieve my items. You have a really awesome employee by the name of Rasheed, I believe I got the name right. He is worthy of a raise and trust me, I am not being paid to write this. He helped me every single time I moved my items, in/out of the storage room, if he was available to do so. My storage room was very dark on the inside and I found droppings on my boxes when I was moving out, so I know there were rodents roaming around my belongings Also, someone had some oil that dripped from their storage space into my space which could be the cause of that problem. The location is convenient and you have 3 good employees I've interacted with, unfortunately, I can only remember one person's name, because of how helpful he was.

My only problem was that I called an hour before my arrival to be sure that the unit was ready (late afternoon 2:30pm) I was assured that it was ready. When I arrived the unit wasn’t ready yet. The assoc stated that he had to clean it out. He gave me my key and asked me to wait. I walked to the unit with a piece of furniture, the unit door was open, & the unit was lined with glue traps along all four walls and a live mouse on the trap. This was completely unacceptable. This should have been addressed before my arrival and before handing me my unit card. The assoc was there alone with a line of people. I don’t fault him, he was alone and was not the assoc that I spoke to prior to my arrival.

I wonder who I hired. Now I had to buy a new bed and furniture, and my clothes are all ruined. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Having my belongs destroyed is stressful enough as it is but the atrocious customer service has made this experience much worse. Stay away from U-Haul.
