Added bonus to me: complimentary lock, and clear email with storage number and gate access code. Only downside: there was a promise of "first month free" with rental of truck, though the storage was needed earlier so I booked them separately. I was never asked whether the two were linked or whether I had rented a truck too, so my guess is that first free month of storage went nowhere.

I fundamentally need my items to arrive safely and on-time at their ultimate destination, as agreed upon and I want to have confidence throughout the process that everything is happening how and when it should. Teams were not talking to one another or sharing the same version of the truth, my items did not arrive at my home on time so I had to sleep on the floor, pay extra money to eat out, cancel my movers and pay a cancellation fee. Your $50/day guarantee that my box arrives at a **facility** is completely irrelevant to me. I need my items at my final destination, again, as agreed upon. I don't care at all that they arrived at your facility, that materially means nothing to me other than that it is somewhat closer to its final destination. I had to rely on an Airtag to be able to know where my items were because multiple teams could not tell me this simple piece of information. Why would that be something I have to do, and not something basic that is already provided to me? I had a team incorrectly tell me that my box arrived at the facility on time and that, therefore, I was owed nothing. How is that even possible? What an absolutely broken experience of siloed little self-important teams completely misaligned from what really matters. Get me my stuff. At my house. On time. Don't force me to make selections on this survey. That's ridiculous. FIx this survey. It thinks I didn't select an answer to one of the questions, and I already did.

Often times when I call the office, no one answers, I just get forwarded to Customer Service which is not always able to help.

I questioned this as I had not checked out but the rep insisted the system showed I was checked out. However, when I checked the uhaul app the day after my rental ended, it showed my rental auto-renewed! I have called to have the charge reversed but obviously there is a problem with the system or the local office and I should not have to go through these steps. Fortunately I caught the improper charge.

While it didn’t have a huge impact on us, it could be awful for someone who is waiting for all there stuff to arrive and can’t do anything until it does. We also had a problem with uhaul telling the storage company to randomly take the box out of storage a week after it arrived. We got a call it was taken out by the storage company and it was just sitting out next to a busy road. We told them to put it back in the secure storage. We went to check on it a week later and it was still sitting outside with no cover on it in the pouring rain next to the busy street. I got attitude when I called and asked why it was still out there and told it would be put away soon. The app needs a lot of fixing. Just about the only thing you can do on it is pay for stuff. All of the other stuff requires calling. I will say just about everyone I talked to at uhaul throughout the whole journey was very helpful.

Michael CThe placement of Uboxes was not flexible at all! The openings for both boxes were toward to creek, which made my loading extremely difficult! Two boxes were delivered on a trailer, which came with a huge UHaul truck that was not able to turn at my parking place and they did not even bother to call a small lift to help and finally left the boxes with just about enough space for me to load!
Honglin fI had no interaction with staff. I had to ask the convenience store personnel next door where to find the office as it was not labeled from the environmentally controled building. When pointed to the office, there was no one available during "open" facility hours. While there was a managers phone number posted, there was not any indication of appropriate times to call or if somone was onsite and returning in a few minutes. Coming and going over a dozen times during "open" hours there never was an indication that anyone was onsite.

Anthony tried to help me best he could from his home, the second time I returned, because the other worker, Dennis, didn’t quite know what to do. Lots going on there in that office. Anyway, there were NO outside units available for rent as I had reserved. All had locks on them but apparently they were labeled open in the system. It was late and pouring rain and I had to return truck so I had no other option but to unload into a second interior unit I saw was “Customer Ready” (Unit #439). Additionally, one of the interior building code boxes needs servicing and the other seems like it is working but doesn’t unlock any door. The front side door is also unlocked and unable to be secured. This building is not secure. If I’m going to be paying for accessed control security, I’d like to know that my belongings are actually secure and that the door won’t just be left wide open like I found it. The door remaining open won’t keep the temperature what it is supposed to be and anyone can just walk in and do whatever. Please call me and we can talk further. I’d like to know how this situation is going to be remedied. Thank you. (315)529-8915

Michael SThe moving out packing was not good. Movers recommended by Uhaul under evaluated the move. Uhaul did not recommend enough boxes and there was stress trying to get more at the last moment. The unpacking went smoothly and in both cases moving and unpacking the Uhaul people in the office and the people doing the packing/unpacking were really nice people. I would use Uhaul again and now have info to make the project better. too bad I didn't have that knowledge when I was moving.

It was impossible to call the Ithaca store directly (they apparently never answer their own phone and it always goes to the answering service), then since the promise to have the store call me back never happened, the wait times to be connected to customer service were inconvenient and ridiculously long. Anything that requires more than 4 phone calls just to close and account and vacate a storage unit is not "customer service". Note: we were unable to go to the retail store to do this in person, since we had movers, and we are not based in Ithaca.

I tried calling from the facility but was given "all I can do is send an email". So I had to drive to the Danby Rd location to get help. It was raining/snowing and inconvenient. The reps were all nice before and after but it's sad I had the storage issue. Also I'm glad I brought my own lock because the lock that was to be provided was not. I'm giving a yes yo recommending because the people are nice and I hope this gets rectified for others after me but I'd rate a no and below average if the people weren't nice.

The person that I dealt with was less than helpful and offered no explanation or even a simple apology. It was almost as if I was at fault. I arrived at the unit where I was told there would be a lock on the door but found there was a zip tie instead. There was no one on site even though it was during business hours. The office was open, but there was no one there or anywhere else in the complex. I went to Home Depot and bought a lock. Came back, cut off the zip tie and found the lock laying on the floor. So, every aspect of this transaction was a mess. Had I not been so desperate for a unit that I traveled almost an hour to get it, I would have walked out. The only real recourse I have is that the trucks I need to shuttle my things to the unit, and then next year to Chicago, will be rented from Penske.

Luckily, this only created an inconvenience. Calling the UHaul number was a waste of time. I hung up after a 20-minute hold. My wife stopped in to the UHaul store and waited in a 20-min line. The man working was rude, walking away from her to help someone else without trying to resolve her issue once he determined she was not on the account anymore. She overheard him tell someone else to call the number listed by the door. I was able to close the account the following day without incident.
