The younger girl ,(Brianna?) That set me up with my van rental did not follow proper procedure as far as pricing and mileage details and I was told the office would collect mileage payment when the vehicle was dropped off and she only charged me initially for 1 mile knowing I was traveling out of town. I ended up with a bill over 3xs the amount it should have been if properly price at $119 a day instead of the $1.29 per mile. This is also a corporate location, I was told from the uhaul equipement recovery guy that stop me (at a gas station n the town i was traveling to) and requested immediate payment or required ownership of the rental keys. I was not prepared or able to pay the payment right then and was left stranded out of town with all my personal property that was in the uhaul.

We had two U-Boxes delivered to our residence in Sarasota, one from TX and the other from Chicago IL. The local movers we used for both pick up and delivery were great. Prompt and efficient. My experience with U-Haul with the exact opposite. The movers in TX were 10 hours late due to software issues at Uhaul in dispatching the box. Then coordinating delivery of both boxes in Sarasota required multiple phone calls over several days and the local movers were always out of the loop. You must develop a better IT system as our experience is apparently not unusual based of feedback from friends and relatives as well as the local movers themselves. Simply unacceptable.

The moving help in west concord was top, they were responsive and professional. The moving help in sarasota was terrible. They were not responsive. They didnt answer messages, phone calls, terrible on giving status updates and treated the customer like they were doing me a favor and not their job. Im extremely unsatisfied with the moving help in sarasota. I had 2 boxes deliver one day then they left and gave no notice for almost 24 hours for the next box delivery. They gave me so much anxiety working with them that its been almost a week and i still feel unsatisfied from their professionalism.

They mixed up the miles on the van that I got so I ended up getting hard like an extra hundred dollars and I still don’t think they charge me right after I showed them proof that I didn’t drive 300 miles in a couple of hours probably not gonna ever listen to you always bad the Manager trying to hit you with a do you have proof which thank God I did is one of the employees told me that they always messed up so take a picture of the speedometer with a time stamp .if I wouldn’t listen to him I would’ve been out $250

The gentlemen who checked me in did not respect my privacy. I asked him to write the storage room number down and he proceeds to deliberately say it anyways out loud. We proceded to walk to the storage Building and I asked to go back and please change my storage number and to not say it out loud and do you know he still said it will be on the same floor out loud again. He said Why does it matter we have locks on each unit.
I purchased the $11.95 insurance because something was very off about his interaction with me.
So unprofessional and lastly he didn't move the truck for me. He gave me the keys and pointed this is the truck.
Please watch the video to see his interaction and that he didn't pull the truck out also he made me wait until 9am on the dot but the doors were open so I was confused on that as well. Why open the doors if your going to make me stand there and wait
Every time I've used Uhaul they pull the truck out and make sure everything is documented and ready to drive. 11/10/25 Sunday

My lock was cut off so that a rat poison container could be put in the unit. When I went in and tried my key it wouldn't work. They wanted $50.00 to cut the lock off.
The rats did get into my stuff and chewed it. I had to throw the stuff out. One of my boxes looked like it had gotten wet. The items inside had something on them. I don't know if laundering will work to clean them.

Parking situation for the storage units is abysmal. Random cars seemingly parked there for hours if not all day on multiple occasions, didn’t seem like someone parked to work on their unit but just parked and left. Trailers and trucks and u-boxes everywhere by that parking makes it difficult.

I found the process to finalize the rental of a storage space VERY frustrating. I worked with Scott Coumbe to start the rental process. I tried to complete the reservation using both the computer and android application, with no success. I kept getting a message of an error but no indication of what the error was. The message seemed to say the cc code was missing or wrong but that wasn't the case as I tried two different cc with the same result. My reservation was a free first month. The online payment system doesn't seem to be able to deal with this. As a customer, I don't know what the problem was. I also talked with customer service. The lady said she called the store. In addition to the payment problem, I asked about the insurance requirement. I was told I didn't need to bring in any documentation yet when I was at the store & finalizing the process, I needed the insurance information. Noah (in the store) completed the paperwork. I apologize for him to receive the brunt of my frustration with the whole process and this whole experience was not what I expect from UHaul. The rating for "Was the staff friendly and helpful?" was not based on Noah but based on the whole process. The "Would you recommend this U-Haul storage facility to a friend?" is a maybe answer but wasn't a choice.

Location is convenient near SRQ airport and facility is clean and well lit. Alarm system works well for knowing timeline of coming and going with entry card swipe. This place is run well and I have seen very low turnover of personell here in the year plus I have been a customer. Great work to all involved they just do their jobs and get it done.

The owner of the location was very rude and dismissive when I ask questions regarding the unit. Very unnecessary to say the least. The facility seems nice enough but I never even got to use it. It says on the website 24x7 and extended hours access but this wasn't the case. Nobody told me even once after speaking to three schedulers who were clearly aware of my drop off time for the truck that I would be using the same location for my free month of storage. I work night shift so im up usually from about 7pm until roughly 11am. So I was pretty annoyed to have a rental by the mile uhaul and show up to unload everything during my move only to find out I can't access my storage unit because it's midnight and my truck needs to be returned in two hours. So I had to find a storage unit that was available for move in that lat e at night and pay for it. Xpress storage was great, affordable, secure, and entirely self service.

I am sorry to say I left because i was paying extra for night access and when followed in by a person who didnt slide access card, then threw a fit because I asked to slide card for my safety, the manager did nothing to protect my safety. Kelly McKnitt, response was poor as a manager and unsafe. I will not use Uhaul again for storage at this facility untill new managers exist. Very dangerous be careful if you store here

Very pleased with the whole U-Haul experience. We used the U-Boxes to move from Galveston,Texas to Sarasota, Florida selecting this location because they could accommodate the U-Boxes. From there, we moved into the Climate Controlled Storage and were completely satisfied. We downsized into one of the 2 units we had rented so we are still customers.

I have had some bad experiences with past rentals and yours has been the best experience of a short term rental so far. Another plus is that it is just 2 miles from our home. I store documents, antiques, instruments etc, during hurricane season since we live near coast and in a flood zone. Items are irreplaceable so I feel safer that way. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because there are not enough moving carts to transport cargo back and forth to unit and truck .. but if more of those were there it would be 5 stars all day -

The young man at the front desk yesterday was lovely, as was Mr. McNitt; however, a man who I assume was the shift manager yesterday afternoon (07/05/21) behaved atrociously. We were planning on staying with you until October, but because of how he treated my fiance we will now be moving elsewhere by the end of the month.

I have never encountered nastier people in my life. Each time I called the uhaul person could not have been more rude. I know one woman’s name was Carole. Unhelpful. Rude. Nasty. All. I will go out of my way to discourage everyone I know not to use uhaul.
