The customer service is terrible. No one directed me to the truck which was parked behind several other vehicles. When I went to ask an employee where the truck was he immediately ignored me to park another truck in front of the one I needed only to have to move it a few minutes later. I was given my van with about a quarter of a tank of gas, perhaps a tiny bit less than 1/4. I had to then drive around looking for a gas station before heading to New Jersey. Rentals really should be given with a full tank, or at least half. It was pretty inconvenient.GUSTAVEA T.

I had called to ask if I could change the drop off location, I spoke to a woman named Yvonne who was absolutely LOVELY. I don't know if she was at the park slope location specifically, but if you know who she is, please give her a raise. She was incredible. When she patched me through the number where someone was meant to help me figure out switching locations, they were unbelievably rude, impatient, and snapped at me as I asked questions, as if I was an imposition and wasting their time. When I asked them to kindly not be rude, they said "i'm sorry you're taking me that way." At the end, when I asked them for their name, they paused, and clearly gave me a fake name because I'm sure they thought I was going to report them. They said "Mary." I didn't press, but they had a bit of a higher pitched, nasally voice, and it was hard to tell over the phone if it was a gentleman with a more feminine voice, or a woman with a slightly masculine voice. Either way, it was a profoundly unpleasant experience, and I rarely ever make a comment on customer service. If this person can be identified, I would encourage strongly that they are taught how to communicate with patience and kindness to customers.DYLAN C.

The drop off location did not exist. There was a person sitting in a car who said the location was closed for the day and said I had to drive around and look for a place to park on the street. I was unable to find a place to park that would allow overnight parking. I was told the vehicle would be picked up the next day Sunday. I had to drive to a different location. Total drop off time over two hours. Then I was charged $27.00 because I ran low on gas looking for a place to park and then having to drive to a different location The service was so bad a cancelled a different rentalJOHN M.

We rented a Uhaul pickup truck and trailer a month in advance. The trailer we were given was NOT the one on our reservation. Our Uhaul location in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY was NOT able to honor our reservation and only offered us a two-wheeled tow dolly as opposed to the four-wheeled auto transport trailer we reserved over a month in advance. They were also not able to find us another trailer at any other location. We even checked in online the night before, apparently for no reason. We were extremely disappointed in their poor service but we were left with no other choice but to settle for the less stable tow dolly, which led to an accident.dmitri S.

If I was able to give zero stars ðŸŒŸ I would have. I made a reservation in Ridgewood location for motocycle trailer . After arriving I was notified that this particular location doesn't have was I was promised. Then , They send me to downtown Brooklyn location. I lost an hour to get there. Charged for a dolly and furniture pads I never received; called to have it corrected and waited on hold for 20 minutes while nobody answered, listening to a recording telling me to have my contract ready so I could be "quick and efficient" while getting no such service in return. The trailer was damaged, the gate didn't close on both sides and one of the emergency chains was missing the rubber clasp which meant it bounced off a number of times during the trip. Also, they told me that I was good to leave the trailer and then never checked it out for me so they thought I still had it for an extra day, had to call customer service to resolve. The complete lack of trash cans is a pain in the neck. Also, the very long lines for service at the cashier is a bummer. The max security system was French failed and I had to have my card remade. Even then it failed half the time. So all in all it failed more than it worked (card reader in elevator did not function properly). Also, the keys to my lock were stolen and uhaul has no contingency plan in place when this happens. On equipment return, I found myself becoming a bit angry and resentful. This was because there was zero service. I was given the responsibility to record the state of things with multiple photos and entries. I felt like this was a cheapo tactic on uhaul's part, by making me do all the work. I didn't feel taken care of at all. If you are going to lean on the customer for self check in, there should be a discount, as it does not impact your employees at all.Thomas P.

1. When you rent equipment with a truck rental, you must have that equipment available. I ordered and needed a furniture dolly, you accepted my order but had no furniture dollies. 2. Your mobile app doesn't work (Android/Google) when trying to complete my reservation. It just gets stuck halfway through. 3. Since you charge to top the tank up to Full, you should provide trucks with gas in the tank, not on Empty like mine.RICHARDWILLIAM E.

The unit we reserved online was not available on our scheduled move-in day. The staff member/cashier was rude when we asked what happened. Then she fought with another staff member about showing us available units. The other staff member was nice and helpful but didn’t have the information we’d given the first staff member, resulting in wasted time showing us the wrong size units. I have a problem with me closing out my account on Sunday, May 9th. My payment is due the 2nd of each month and I paid on April 28th which was in advance and when I inquired about the procedure for technically only having the storage for 7 days and asked if my account could be prorated I was informed that if you pay your fee 1 day before or 1 day after the fee is not prorated and that was not explained to me the day I closed my account. I also said if you rent out that same storage unit that same day you will charge the new customer for the entire month and I consider that stealing and unfair practices. Thank you for taking the time to read this over. I appreciate that you're working on making a better business. The whole experience working with the office staff was horrible. To purchase anything from a roll of tape or securing the storage unit took min. of 30 mins. I waited in lines for over an hour, with slow moving staff that didn't seem to care. I was given the wrong storage unit number and asked to wait back in line. After activating my entrance card it didn't work they told me to wait back in line. The second time it didn't work again and I was told they don't know what to do. So my wife and I had to share a single entrance card because your staff refused to replace it without me paying $5. The entire front office staff could not care less about the customer experience or helping in a timely manner. They gave everyone attitude knowing there was nothing we could do about it. The staff in the actual facility and working on the trucks was great and very helpful. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to chat about what I have written. Honestly, this could have been a great experience. I loved that it was possible to move in out-of-hours, but I was shocked to discover that my unit was "upstairs". Although there was an elevator to the appropriate floor, there was no indication that I would then have to lift all my furniture up a flight of stairs to my unit. I would not have made this booking had I known, and it was not made clear at all during the booking process. I’ve never had a worst time at a U-Haul location and I used to work in film production and was there all the time. The staff were completely incompetent and extremely unkind. All of their devices computers vestibules scanners for cards to check in to storage we’re not working adequately. Other customers and I would be wandering around trying to figure out how to do this because the staff would be so unhelpful. The process of renting the truck and using the moving helpers was really difficult. The movers were poorly booked by U-haul and on the loading in to storage side were booked for the wrong date. The Truck was delivered to me with an empty tank and the brakes on the truck were problematic. The staff at the counter were really nasty and I really do not want to ever go back to your office every again now that I have my belongings in storage. Staff is extremely slow and unprofessional. The storage units are not as shown in the office/lobby. They are very poorly lit, doors don’t work well, and the are smelly/dirty/old. The physical plant was clean and well maintained. The staff is universally professional. But there are several issues: 1. The facility allows non-employees to roam around offering to "help" customers more in and out; most are well-mannered but some guys are aggressive and made the female customers uncomfortable and threatened. Only employees and customers should be allowed on the premises. 2. The facility is terribly understaffed. During busy periods, there was literally a line out the door because the same people process truck rentals as manage the purchase of moving supplies. On several occasions, I walked out rather than stand in line for 45 minutes during a pandemic when more than a few customers and employees were not wearing masks or had them dangling around their necks. 3. The staff fails to rigorously enforce a mask policy in the store. 4. There are frequently not enough carts available during busy periods. 5. Unfortunately, kind of a frustrating experience. had a few helpful staff members but I showed up with a mobile reservation and it was very unclear where I was supposed to go to get the keys, and then I went to the key pickup desk and the person there told me, 'if you don't have a key number, go wait in the line…', and I still don't really know what that means. I said I had an online reservation but she still said, go to the back of the line, which does seem to move quite slowly. Took about an hour of the rental time, and then when I got back, had a bunch of problems getting into the storage unit. Didn't get an explainer on the swipe-in system which is somewhat complicated, and came back and they did explain but I was in the system under the wrong name so I just couldn't get up the elevator at all and had to come back. So I had a ton of wait time that tacked onto my day significantly. I did have some staff who helped me out, but I was surprised that the process involved a lot of inefficiency and just wanted to pass along so you knew. Compared with my experience at other local storage facilities this one was definitely below par. The office staff was not helpful or efficient and seemed annoyed by simple questions. There is a 2x1 foot column taking up precious space in the unit I was assigned which I wasn't told about prior to renting and only found out about when I started moving into the unit. I had to wait a half hour for someone to address this issue and then another half hour to find out there wasn't really another alternative; all the while paying my movers to wait around at $150/hour....This is not good customer service! Also there was food spilling out of two units, not to mention rodent traps everywhere. When I mentioned this to one of the staff they said, "well, some people actually live in their units" This seems completely unacceptable to me. There are a few places where improvement is needed. It seems one of the elevators is chronically under repair. Also, I had trouble loading the van when I moved out. It seemed there were a great many vehicles from the staff that were parked in the very few spaces that are available to the customers to get stuff in and out of their storage unit. I didn't notice before I moved out because I walked to my storage unit to drop off/pick up just a few things at a time. There were way too many UHaul vans parked behind the spots making it really hard to maneuver. I understand the staff need a place to park, but when say 10 out of 12 spaces are taken, the customers suffer. Lastly, it could have just been the day, but the bathrooms on the third floor and ground floor were a mess. I had used the 3rd floor bathroom two hours before and it was clean and stocked. I know you cannot monitor all bathrooms, but this storage space seemed to have a problem with the bathrooms just about any time I used them.
