I had two “employees” approach me outside of the storage unit facility I used, who immediately started grabbing my stuff and putting it on carts. They told me it would be about $60 each for their help, which I told them I didn’t need. They ignored me and continued on anyway. They did manage to move my stuff into the unit quickly, so I decided to be nice and pay them for their help. I asked again how much, to which they told me it was now $80 each. They also made me pay cash from an ATM nearby. I am convinced that I was completely scammed, and I’m not even sure if these two men worked for U-Haul. There being no safeguards to prevent this from happening is completely unacceptable. I was also given a cargo van that had less than 10 miles of gas in it. The employees at the rental place were very unhelpful. Genuinely one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. If I didn’t already have my stuff in one of your units, I would never use U-Haul again, and after I collect my stuff, I plan on never using your services again. Absolute joke of a company. Do better.

I’m forced to keep my belongings in the truck because the largest room I ordered, a 10 x 10 I believe, was split in half and I was unaware of that. I told them I was moving a 2 bedroom large living room large kitchen home. None of my furniture fits in either side and they only offered me to have to pay for ANOTHER 4x12 room for an additional $110. I feel so cheated and will never use them again. Now I’m payin more for a truck to hold my things during a traumatic time in my family’s life. I will never recommend them to anyone.

JEANETTE B | First ImpressionsI received an offer for a free month of storage after I rented a van. I made a reservation for a storage unit based on that offer. When checking in to the facility I had an issue with the app connecting that offer with my reservation; I am grateful that eventually one store employee was willing to help me, but I shouldn't have to negotiate for 5 min about my need for service before I receive the service. And that was only after the first person I asked for assistance went to the back--my initial contact kept redirecting me back to the app and wouldn't hear about the issue. The app can be convenient but it cannot replace service.

Your opportunity areas are at the cashier / checkout, where lines can linger b/c of one customer with an ask that's not standard, whereas everyone else just needs a roll of tape, to drop off keys or to open an account. And having people download the app at the register is a nightmare, stop doing that. Help folks with classic customer service and end the transaction with a strong encouragement to use the app.

RONALD S | First ImpressionsWhen I cleaned out the unit it was full of mouse droppings. This facility needs to deal with the mouse infestation and do a better job of securing the entryway. I left an AC unit at the take something leave something area and a crackhead snuck in to the entryway and took it to rip out the copper. While the elevator security system works well the lobby was frequently full of unhoused people and druggies waiting to take things they might be able to sell.
JEFFERY V | Overall ExperienceI didn't move in because I was automatically assigned the room. And the room has stairs. I am disabled and cannot do stairs. So it was unable to use the storage room that I was given. I did put in for a cancelation of the room.
