The "Self Service" rental did not work as expected. Your location opened at 9Am and I had an 8:30 AM reservation counting on the fact that I could pick up prior to opening. After much to do (had to call your customer service as the vehicle was not where your service was indicating) I got something on my phone that said to show it to the desk and they would give me my keys. I'll never book anything when your offices are closed. Not worth the hassle.

When someone has a flat an needs road assistance the onsite staff whoud more clearly explain to already frustrates clients that Customer Support at the 800 number can better help make accommations (to make up for the lost hours) than the onsite supervisor. The staff that answered the phone the two times I asked to speak with someone in charge just switched me to where I was on hold without knowing why. This only compounded my frustration. The Customer support rep ( Dustin Clark or Brown) who finally did help me extend my rental time was very compassionate and helpful. Onsite staff could have been more understanding and should know how to help customers when a truck isn't working.

I ordered for Rosemead. You sent me to L.A for a 6:00 pm pick up. I arrived at 5:45 no customer in store and was not helped tell 6:10pm. Then was told they don't have my trailer. I said we'll can you find me one. He tells me Vernon. I said no. How about Pasadena or something east. He found it in pasedena. So I had to make the drive in rush hour and bearly made it before they closed.

Dealing with the staff was very easy, both at the time of the reservation, pick up and drop off. No problems there. A great difference from the last time I rented at this location, in 2005. We had been given a truck with a defective passenger door, which we reported, and the staff was indifferent. This time, the only glitch was that the air conditioning in the van was erratic, and blew warm air (on a 92* day) until almost the end of the trip, when it began to operate properly, without any additional or new input on my part.

Overall, the store was clean and well organized. The location was convenient to me. But there are two things could be better because they ruined my experience with U-Haul. 1. System performance: I did check-in thru online before I got to the location but it didn't matter. They were having issues with the system so it took long time and I needed to go over the same things I did for online check-in. The person who was helping me was so frustrated with the system. I understood in the beginning but later on it made me uncomfortable because he expressed his frustrations too much. 2. Currently, I see 3 pending transactions with U=Haul on my bank account and I don't recognize one transaction. (the first one is the estimate one, the second one is for over mileage, and the last one I don't know what this is for). I feel like I can't trust U-Haul system and I'm worried if I have to go thru phone calls, etc to sort this out.

Actually help the customer. I waited outside to drop off the uhaul and after 10 minutes I went inside when the sign says please wait outside. I found the lady sitting playing on her computer with absolutely nobody else around. She even saw me on the security tv that was right in front of her. Said to go wait outside to me. Another ten minutes went by before a completely different person came out and helped me. Again what a joke. Twitter, Facebook , etc will be hearing about this.

when I took a car miles was 5446, not 5445, your employee corrected the document, but for 40 cents I will not become impoverished ... and I gave you a car with more gasoline than I took, could take this into account when doing the recalculation

I have rented about 5 times in the last 2 months but this time was awful. I received the truck with a filthy bug splattered windshield, the cargo area was dirty, and to top it off learned that I got it with a flat inner tire on the rear. Had to cut my moves short because of this. A really bad experience on many fronts.

When I picked up my 20' truck everything went smoothly. The employee walked around the truck and showed me all the damage spots including a large spot on the roof of the truck. He signed off on the rental with the damages reported. When I got to my drop-off spot, the damage in the truck that was previously recorded allowed extensive water from a rainstorm to enter the truck and do $600 of damage to my belongings. When the drop-off location saw the truck, they said it should never have left Pasadena. I need to be reimbursed for the damage charges that were not my fault, and I need the $600 reimbursement for my property damages.

Nothing. Location had plenty of vehicles. One I got was fairly new. I did screw up and did not check to see that fuel gauge matched the form (form showed 7/8 actually was at 3/4). When I told them when I got back, the noted I had only driven 4.5 miles and believed me and corrected it. No hassle. Please let them know I appreciated that.

The oder of what ever chemicals that are used to clean it was very bad. I had to let the van air out all night. If you use organic cleaning material that will not happen. Otherwise all was great! Virginia

The staff at the desk was rude, impatient, and unhelpful. I rented a 10' truck for 24 hours and tried to park at the facility overnight. They told me the customer lot was full and I would be ticketed or towed unless I got a city-issued parking pass for street parking. The instructions they gave me for doing this were entirely wrong, so I was unable to get one. They then threatened to cancel my reservation when I asked whether I could park in the available storage (as opposed to truck rental) parking. The man who I presumed was the manager raised his voice and was rude throughout our interaction. I will never be returning to this location.

The manager is awful and rude and accused me of lying. Two employees didn't even install my trailer properly and I had to reinstall it myself when the manager accused me of lying that it didn't came off. Awful service and awful personalities

I think when your returning tow equipment two persons should be on site for assistance. The young man helping me insisted that I put the car in reverse to remove off towing equipment. I asked if he would take it off because I was not comfortable, but was told customer has to do it for liability reasons. I was reassured several times that everything was fine and to put it in reverse. Well, the towing extention ramps were not lowered and my front fender was taken off. I feel this incident could have been avoided if someone else was assisting might have double checked. I do appreciate that the young man sincerely apologize and supervisor wrote up a claim report.

I was disappointed by the lack of parking at the location. I had to walk from the next major intersection after finding parking. Also, the truck that I used was nearly on empty about a 1/4 tank full, which was not enough gas to get us to our destination and back.

Your online system would not allow me to drop off spent 30 40 mins or so trying to dig it out called and then was just left with ok taken care of with hopes all would end well not a very good experience at all and it cost me over $100 so I didn't appreaciate the inconvienence

The U-Haul systems needs to get its act together. I was called twice on 2 different days after returning the car the day before, asking me why I hadn't returned the car and where is the car. I then look at my final bill and even though I returned the van early, with the same level of gas as I received it, no damage whatsoever, all of a sudden I have an additional $3.01 charge. What is this charge for? My contract was for $61.65 for an entire day, returning at 5pm and I returned it at 1pm. I still have an additional $3.01 charge for what? The mirror on the truck was very loose and it would not stay up at a safe viewing position while driving. Also when I asked about gas pricing penalties for not filling up the tank, the employee did not mention a $30 (plus) service fee if the gas tank was bellow a quarter full when I return the vehicle. This severe lack of communication and apparent inability to pay attention or to simply not care resulted in me having to leave U-haul once again to refill the tank.

Have a record of damage to the vehicle before the renter takes it out. The vehicle I rented had a lot of minor damage, but I didn't see it when I looked at the van since the vehicles were so closely parked.

Inspect the equipment prior to being rented out. This isn't a knock on the employees at this particular location, as I assume it can happen at all locations. One of the tires on the tow dolly had a giant nail in it. Had it not been my brothers eagle eye, we would've driven off like that. Additionally, the truck was excellent. It was Brand new with 45 miles on it. When I checked it out I was added a mile that wasn't mine, or it maybe turned to the 45 th mile as it was given to me. Nonetheless, nothing is free in this world and in a world of business where nothing is free, .79 cents is a lot of money to GIVE away based on a minor error. I didn't receive anything free on top of the quotes contract price. I seek to keep things fair and not be added an additional mile. No, I'm not a cheapskate and I'm pretty careless with money too. The other thing was the trailer had a right turn signal/stop light out. So two (2) trailers were missing their inspection at this particular location. One had a nail in a tire and the dolly was switched out. But the second one was out a turn signal bulb. Safety would be a question at that point and no doubt a reason to be pulled over by a police officer doing his duty. This is not a knock on the employees at this location. I was treated fairly and in a friendly manner. But I would've been a dissatisfied customer if I would've gotten a flat on a dolly (thank goodness bro caught it before leaving the place) and I would've been crazy upset if I would've gotten a fix it ticket on a rental truck. Big Thanks to you guys tho....I appreciated the service and quick service at that. Keep up the good work on the clean, friendly and convenient location.

Shampoo the seats or something. The whole cab of our rental smelled of urine. It felt like I was sitting in a toilet. Even the AC felt like it was blowing pee air. I could keep going but that was the main thing.

The gentleman that processed the initial transaction, needs more training on customer relations. Not friendly at all. And I am referring to all of the 3 guys that were behind the counter. Their attitude made me feel unwelcome. It doesn't hurt to make your customers feel welcome. If it does, maybe this is not the job for them. Btw, I was there both Saturday and Sunday. And both times, same attitude. The guys that assisted me with the van, good customer service. Especially the one that helped me on Sunday when I was picking up. Very personable, joked and smile on his face. Wish I would have got his name. Very nice guy. Work on the guys you have at the counter to make your location a better business.

I have rent several trucks in the past and never had a horrible experience regards billing and charges been place in my account daily and double charges as well. I usually pay initial deposit and final bill is calculated and bill after I drop rental off. But this time my account was pull daily and twice in one day and continue to charged different amounts few days after being drop, causing my account additional fees and overdraft fees. I was getting several calls as early as 6am in the morning asking me if truck was being return later that day after I said no , the day before. Totally inconvenience and annoying. I'm never coming to this location again or will avoid it as much as possible. Totally mad ?? and disappointed

Attitude. I'm the customer. Friendly communication is important. When I returned the van (early) I was told I'd brought it in the wrong entrance. It's the same entrance I drove in and the same entrance I've used in years past. I was told "Didn't you see the stop signs pointed that way?" Well no, if I didn't come in that entrance I wouldn't have seen them, would I? I also pointed out that no one told me at the desk that there was a specific drop off entrance and that's your job, isn't it? I was told "Well that's the way it works." and "You'll know it next time." to which I replied, "Why would there be a next time?" Attitude means everything in customer relations.

I was originally supposed to pick up my uhaul truck at a different location. They lost the key to the truck that we were supposed to rent so after over an hour of waiting for them to look for the key, they finally looked for another location for us to go pick up a different truck. The location we were sent to was in a completely different area, about 20 miles to pick up. The location we were able to pick up in, however, was much more organized with better customer service also.

You guys need rivaled sure when a customer Reserve's a rental that you guys grant it and not cancel it. Do to this I ended spending way more money having to drive to a further location. That means more miles and more gas. I had a super bad experience with uhaul in general....

I was charged for a dollie and did not use and because I did not sweep out the truck. The dollie was in the way of packing the truck and may have been knocked, but it was not used. You should give the option of having it there or not because we needed that extra foot of space. The truck did need sweeping, but I really did not even think about that. Perhaps when when someone picks up a truck, it should be suggested to them that they sweep out the truck before returning it because there could be a cleaning fine. I will know this for the future, but I wish I had known it before I returned the truck. .

Provide the service advertised. Having to disconnect an AT in 100 degree weather, or at any time while a U Haul agent and 'yard employee' sit inside watching their monitor while the customer 'spots' and disconnects a trailer isn't professional and reflects poor training and supervision.

I reserved this trailer the day before pick-up. I inquired what there closing time was to avoid keeping the unit overnight. I was told they closed at 7:00 pm and I said great as I knew that it would take the better part of the day to drive from Pasadena to Newport Beach (5 hr. round trip). When I arrived to pick-up the trailer I was confronted with the fact that I must have the trailer back by 5:00 pm. as it was rented to another customer. I told the Mgr. that what he was requiring would not be possible. Rudely, he told me I had no choice or he wasn't going to let the trailer leave. When I tried to explain that I rented and was paying for the day and by terms could keep the trailer over night however, it was my desire to return it at closing on the same day. He told me I had no proof that the girl reserved it to 7:00 pm and it would take to long to review the tapes and find the truth. My response was and is still"Are you calling me a liar" Tempers got the best of the conversation and of course threats of not allowing the rental of the trailer... (I'm sure you understand how the story developed and ended) Or did it you now have one pissed off past customer who has since rented the truck necessary from Enterprise... Oh yes let me finish with I never could pick up all of the scheduled items because I feared returning the trailer late. As one can see It took 2.5 hrs. to drive from LA to Orange county & a few minutes longer going back. I can only hope this is not a reflection of the management team @ U-Haul. Rudeness to any customer should not be tolerated.... In the not to distant past I was the President & CEO of SERCO Inc. North America. SERCO, a leading Government Contracting Company (2 Billion in Sales) and thirty thousand employees. Each Employee who dealt with the public was required to attend the SERCO Institute for Customer care and satisfaction... Our motto and one you may consider is "GETTING BETTER AT BEING BETTER. I do think the rate per mile is quite high. $.79 per mile. I could have rented a car with unlimited mileage for the same price....and it would have been a more comfortable ride and better customer service. The truck I rented suited my needs but the cost was not appropriate.

I arrived 30 minutes early to find that there were people already waiting for the place to open. When it did open, there was only one person attending a long line that reached back to the entrance doors. My wait time was 30 minutes. When I did get my reserved truck it was very dirty. I had asked if the truck was supposed to have been washed. They outsude attendent stated that they don't wash the vehicles because there was a drought before and they are conserving so that it wont happen again. OMG, REALLY! I had to go take it for a wash before I had to use it.

This is probably the worst u haul center in Southern California. The staff obviously do not enjoy there jobs. They had no parking for my vehicle within the lot for customers, the nearest lot was one mile from the store since all the streets parking spots have 2 hour maximums . Highly suggest never using this center.

Don't lie about your rates. I was charged over $50 more than what I was quoted on the website. I was told that I had 100 mile allowance and then I get charged huge fees for going 65 miles. I accidentally put more gas in the Uhaul before returning it than I had to. I think it would be really nice if Uhaul reimbursed customers for any excess gas they return the trucks with. After all, you charge customers if they return the trucks without enough gas--doesn't it seem fair to reimburse us for extra?

I walked in and nobody greeted me or anything, I went up to the counter where two guys were talking and they just looked at me and pointed me down the counter a bit to another guy. That guy seemed surprised that I was there. I signed and payed and was told to go outside and park near the trailers where someone would help me. Then the guy called out on the radio that I was coming to get the trailer. I drove out to the trailers and two other male employees were out there doing some cleaning or prepping of a uhaul truck. I parked near the trailers and waited a bit. Nobody came over so I walked to the guys at the truck. They told me I needed to go inside and fill out the contract, after I explained that I already did that it was fine. They helped put the trailer on my car and do the inspection. I brought the trailer back after hours and had no issue putting it where it came from.

We made reservations online. Once we got to the store we weren't greeted. This is our first time renting at uhaul. We were helped as we walked to the cash register. We gave the name that the reservation was under. They were able to find it and we were told the due amount was less than $10 dollars since we did purchase to small items but I wasn't told that $80 was being held on my credit card (which I found out after I returned the car). The employee explained to go out and make a left and someone will help us. We went ahead and did that. We saw an employee to the left who then pointed us to where exactly we should go. It was a little run around before we made it to the car. Overall the experience was unpleasant. The employees weren't friendly nor helpful. It seem as if we were bothering them on the job.

I requested and paid for a furniture dolley, but instead I was given a utility dolley. When I informed the rep upon my return, he did not offer to deduct the cost of the incorrect provision. Moreover, although convenient, your advertising is misleading by charging about $20 for a van rental, yet gouge the consumer with outrageous mileage fees. This will likely be the last time I will use UHaul and instead rent a van from a car rental place with no additional charges for mileage.

Parking in that area is very difficult to find if I am having to leave my vehicle to drive a U-Haul truck for the day it it is inconvenient The only parking available on the street is 2 hours if you can find a space. all day parking is harder to find. In fact parking at that facility is pretty much impossible. They have a big lot and store trucks there why not carve a few spaces out for customers or talk to the city and request lifting ban on cars parked for more the two hours?

I drove to this location after trying to return at Spirit Gas, 461 N. Altadena Dr., Pasadena CA. Spirit Gas and the U-Haul office were open but the U-Haul attendant had left. I was given a business card with a disconnected cell number and a business phone that went to voice mail. I think a U-Haul attendant should be present when a location is open.

The inability to contact the location directly is more annoying than your financial savings for doing so. At least give the option if requested. Original 6 by 6 by 6 units were advertised as a single room storage. This was not large enough to fit what I needed. I then had to pay double to have a normal sized unit. Second air conditioned unit I was shown was then found to still have a leak. Third unit I was shown was over priced for the space. Had a hard time with having the key card work to get access to the units. It took them almost 30 minutes to get it fixed. I was continuously lead the wrong way by those attending. Most did not have full knowledge of where the numbered units were on premises and we did a lot of wandering.

I had reserved a newer fleet truck for 24 hours. Was supposed to be charged 40 cents per mile with the first 30 miles free. I was charged 1.09 per mile. Didn't get the first 30 miles free. I feel like I got bait and switched. When I arrived, the store was busy, and that's understandable since it was the weekend. When I got to the counter, I felt as if I had reserved not even should have bothered with booking online several days prior. Not only that but the moving supplies that I had purchased weren't on order, so I had to ask for them again, and got charged 16..85 for plastic wrap even though I had that on my online order as well. The staff could not find the keys to the van on order either, and that was okay until I waited far too long when I was finally given keys to another van. I was given a new contract and told to disregard the old one. I took pictures of the gas, and I still got charged a fuel fee of 4.60 even though the van was at the original fuel level. Overall it was a terrible experience. It took too long to be considered convenient, and no one seemed to know what was going on even though I'm sure the staff does this every day. A retrain is clearly in order, and the booking system and the one at the location need to be far more accurate it is currently half-baked. There were too many people working in this place and yet they were so inefficient they could not handle a Sunday morning. I'm not pleased with my Uhaul experience if anyone wants to contact me, by all means, do so 8312619429.

I rent a U-Haul pick-up at least once a month. And the yard guy is always grinding me for not cleaning the truck. This time I swept the bed twice, the second time with a soft broom. Do they get to keep the $10 or $25 if I don't shout an argue my way our of it? What company wants to argue with their customer? At $.69 a mile I think U-Haul should be doing some maintenance work. I will say that the counter guy pointed out the feature on the rental contract that tells you how much gas to put in the tank to return it at the same level. That is handy.

I would first like to say I would like a major discount, because first off the truck and was not ready then the guy back the truck in to the trailer damaging the trailer plug which out of late for our pick for equipment, then they switched trucks and tried rushing the check outpaper work, then the truck we got later found out had a delayed start and got worse as the time went on. Then the 12 volt adapter was broke, the fuse was blown and they said when I called that they checked the truck before giving it to us, which is a lie because the A.C. would cut out while driving and on hills so we didn't have A.C. most of the trip, and then our trailer had issues. The first one was our back safety chain clamp was broken and bent, and then the front chain didn't have a rubber securing strap and the back on was super old. When I called to tell them how I felt they put me on hold then 3 mins later hung up the phone. I will request at least a 100 dollar discount or my lawyer will be contacting you.

I was charged an unreasonable cleaning fee for not folding the pads. When I called to complain, the person told me the requirement to fold them was written on the bag. It's a clear plastic bag covering dark speckled pads, so of course I didn't see the text, and nobody told me I had to fold them.

Communication on this order was incredibly poor. My boxes were supposed to be shipped immediately and stored at the destination; instead they were stored at the origin and only shipped two months later. The confirmation emails I received had incorrect information, I didn't receive the correct order number to be able to look up the order, and I had no idea where my boxes were. The boxes ended up in the right place eventually (two months late), and the rental location at the destination did everything right — but the many automated communication errors through the U-Haul box system were inexcusable. Even the confirmation text I received after I finally figured out where the boxes were and made the appointment to come pick them up was a blank form text: "U-Haul res # is scheduled for on to on ." I hope U-Haul gets its communication act together!

My comment pertains to uhaul in general not specifically this location. This has been my most frustrating truck rental experience ever. Uhaul needs to fix the on line reservation system, replace it or abandon it. I rented a one way cargo van to go from Pasadena to San Diego. After making the reservation on line, I wanted to change my drop off location in San Diego. The system would not let me, so I called Uhaul several times and kept getting different answers about changing the drop off location. When I picked the van up in Pasadena, I asked the Uhaul Rep to change the location as this is what I was told to do from one of the phone reps. The Pasadena Rep couldn't change my drop off location either. But since I was told by another phone Rep that I could take it to any Uhaul dealer in San Diego I did just that. But to my great disappointment two different dealers refused to take the van. 45 minutes later I gave up and just took it to the original place I booked on line. Very frustrating and a big waste of my time. The Uhaul rep in Poway where I dropped it off was very understanding and didn't charge me for the extra miles that I had to drive to bring it to him. However, Uhaul will not be first on my list for my next truck rental.

No one hesitated answering any of my questions and even took the time to listen to something I had to say about hearding "knocking" in the van. I was greeted by the franchise owner Jim and he was professional and polite during the whole process. His location not only rents vehicles, but also has a storage facility. He treats his staff with respect by referring them as Mr. X. And his staff respects him and his facility by maintaining a clean facility and vehicles. Jim even asked if I needed a place to park my car while renting one of his. Surprisingly, he has a section on his facility to allow customers to park their vehicles for extended periods of time. His staff member Christian went through the van I rented to ensure I knew where the seat and mirror adjustments were. His attention to detail and service is impeccable.

i have rented many times from this location, the people are good at their jobs and do everything to take care of me and their customers. 99%of the time the vehicles i rent are great and well maintained. this particular unit however was scary. it had 2009 dated tires on it and the hitch connection was sliding constantly as i drove. i have to be honest this unit needs restoration. some one may very well get hurt by it. i have a new hitch and ball and i maintain my vehicle carefully so i know the slipping was because of wear in the unit. please take this trailer out of service and restore it before someone is hurt. otherwise the location is great. thanks corey

I reserved a trailer. I told uhaul rep the 64" width is important and the trailer has to be able to accommodate a 64"×120" utility vehicle. She gave me one that did not fit. That totally wasted my weekend. I could not haul the utv. I was very upset. I called uhaul and told them what happened. They promised a refund and told me to drop off the trailer the next day where I got it. I did that and i was charged. Also i was never told i needed an adapter even though I told the rep what car i drove. I had to drive back home to get my adapter. This experience was a total disaster. The bag of furniture pads that I rented along with a cargo van were nice and clean this time, whereas they contained dry leaves and other small debris when I rented the same combination last month. Returning the van and pads took several minutes longer than necessary because it took a while before any U-Haul employees noticed I was there and came to check me back in. Once they finally did check the van back in, it all went fine and quick.

They should never charge $25.00 for "cleaning" the truck when all it that requires is blowing out the dust and debris with compressed air for 30 seconds. A ridiculous charge. We were also needing a truck for a total of 4 days, but apparently U-Haul won't rent for more than 24 hours or so, which was a monumental inconvenience, having to switch out our vehicle every single morning, sometimes transferring the heavy contents from one truck to another right there on site. An absolutely absurd policy. And finally, since the gas gage wasn't functioning properly in one of our trucks, we inadvertently filled it with way more gas than we were required to... but of course there was no effort to reimburse this expense by U-Haul. Jim, the manager at the Pasadena location, is a great guy and is doing a fine job, so I have no complaints about him or his staff... But I will never give my business to U-Haul ever again because of their unwavering customer-gouging policies. U-Haul is just yet another big company out there trying to stick it to the consumer every which way they can. They have lost our personal and professional business indefinitely.

Haul is a nightmare. Uhaul got the delivery date wrong, 3 Kings moving helpers did not show up when they said they were. Initial experience scheduling the loading of the box was awful.

oNly thing that needs improvement is the communication between Uhaul facilities in two different cities. Sometimes the information was wrong. Other than this, things were good.
