Everything was perfect. The lady that checked me in was absolutely WONDERFUL. She was very efficient and was very knowledgeable of the business and asked if I would need a dolly or pads. She truly made the rental process very quick and easy. Upon rental of the van she made it so easy. The lady is an asset to your companyDELORES DIANE W.
Scheduled pick up for noon a week in advance was told someone else had the truck and wasn't available until two that afternoon. Had to stay the evening rather than heading back home as planned due to this. Then was told the truck smelled like wet and they didn't have deodorizer to clean it but then they found it and was told it was good to go. The smell was still there and the entire truck was greasy from the deodorizer. No other trucks were available so I had to deal with the smell and greasy texture for five hours.Thomas M.

the manager Stanton, was excellent to work with. I was expecting a run down vehicle but was suprised to get a 15 foot truck with 44286 miles on it and a air conditioner that "froze us out". We towed a small suv from dunbar ,wv to victoria tx. 1500 miles no issues. Wish all locations were this professional.JAMES G.

Place was extremely clean & staff was knowledgeable & professional. They went above & beyond to help me. Had I not been at this location when I tried to unload my vehicle I would have had an accident because the Tampa location refused to give me operating instructions. When I backed up to off load my vehicle, I had disengaged the transport from the truck, not knowing this was wrong as I never used one before. The transport took off with my vehicle on it, I had to jump out & attempt to manually stop it from sliding backwards, I am not strong enough for that being a small woman. The gentleman working ran out & helped me stop it before hitting anything. He put his personal safety aside to help me from a stupid move. This young man was my hero, I tried to tip him to thank him but he refused it & simply told me he was glad no one was hurt. This young man deserves a huge raise for going above & beyond. I will forever be grateful to him.Danielle L.

The woman at the counter was EXCELLENT when I picked up the van. The van was in GREAT condition, however, there was a cigarette burn in the seat that I didn't see til I left the premises I know they can't control the behavior of their customers, but they had one that is a regular on Sundays from what he says, he got in the door first, and all he did was chat up the poor woman working, then proceeded to discuss the level of prostitutes in the area. It was super uncomfortable to the only two people in the room, me and the female employee. The location was convenient for me, but the homeless guys on the street hanging out next to the van were a little too close, and were also talking about more disgusting things. As a woman, I probably will find another location because of that. Either that, or move the vehicles closer to the building so a customer won't have to deal with that.ERICA S.

I didn't know if the secondary contact didn't answer their phone I couldn't rent the UHaul. On a Sunday it would have been nice to know because no one answers their phones when its a strange number so that too 20 minutes and you have no place for me to tell you the light came on for an oil change. You just ask if it stayed on which it didn't, flashed on and off.Jessica S.
Pricing reminds me of the old built and switch. The 19.99 truck I rented cost almost $65. ( plus gas total was closer to $80. I put gas in it, returned it 3 hours early, ( on a 8 hour rental) drove 44 miles total round trip. You all are very misleading. I'll definitely explore other options. Too much fine print. My only complaint is that when we finally got through the mobile check in process, and we found the truck assigned, the maintenance man informed us we could not take the truck and would need to take another one. The mobile app did not give us the option of choosing another truck. Which we didn't know until we began the check in process a second time. I was getting very frustrated! Finally I told the man that it didn't seem right to take a truck not assigned as there was no way for Uhaul to be able to hold us accountable if damage occurred. At this point he said the original truck was ready - apparently it wasn't clean at first. Your site states guaranteed rental would be available. I'm our case it was not as we had to wait 15 minutes past our pick up time.Troy P.

When I picked up the uhaul there were two homeless people coming out of the back where they had slept in it the night before, but when I let the person working know they apologized and said that had never happened before and came right out to mop and clean the whole truck!WILLIAM CODY F.
I am quite frankly appalled that Staunton Lacy, who is supposed to be a General Manager, would speak to an upset customer the way he spoke to me. I booked a 20 foot truck via the web portal at another location- which said the equipment was available. I was called later that afternoon and told that they did not, in fact, have that equipment and that I could have a 26 foot truck at the 1701 W 4th Ave Charleston, WV 25312 location. I immediately called that location and told them that a 26 foot unit was not conducive to my needs, as I had reservations about the safety of a larger truck at my destination. The person I spoke to told me that they had a 20 foot truck available, and that I could pick it up on time the next day. Sounds good. Except that when I arrived on site, they did not have a 20 foot truck. They had a 26 foot truck. This is where it goes awry. Instead of choosing to help me find equipment that met my needs, Mr. Lacy decided to escalate. He raised his voice at me. He told me that if that equipment didn't suit me, that I could rent a truck somewhere else. I can not believe that a general manager would escalate an irate customer in that manner. When I told him that my concern was that a 26 foot truck presented a hazard of becoming stuck at my destination, and that I HAD to move TODAY, he started talking loudly about how Roadsafe did not cover it. I could not seem to convey in an appropriate manner that I could not postpone my trip. Even after I told him that I accepted liability because of the situation, he continued to try to argue with me about the truck. At no time did Staunton Lacy offer to help me find appropriate equipment, or even apologize that they made a promise they could not and did not deliver on. This is hands down THE WORST U-Haul customer service experience I have ever had. We are in a phased move that is 80~ miles round trip. We will need a moving truck for the next four weeks consecutively, as well as some of the accessories that come with a large house move - boxes, pads, straps, et cetera. Not only has this experience made sure that we will not consider U-Haul for those accessories, but we will also not consider U-Haul for the truck rental moving forward. Mr. Lacy had a badge on that displayed he was a graduate of U-Haul's Customer Service University. Perhaps he needs a refresher course in how to deal with a customer upset because his team failed to deliver on the promises that they made.THOMAS WYATTE G.

Not at all happy with scheduling experience. Received a call the day before that confirmed reservation at above place was not available that i would have to pickup elsewhere. Why schedule at all if you can't deliver based on reservation. Called local place and by happenstance one was brought in. You customer service rep did not return promised call of resolution and your call wait time was 28 min. Not happy at all with schefuling and customer service and would recommed others go to different company. You just cant be expected to be told not svailable after confirmed reservation only to be told be your schefuler that it is not confirmed until after the call. Did not need that added stress and will take business elsewhere because of that.JOSEPH W.
The truck was there but someone had the key and left for breakfast; after an hour, sent me to another location where we had to start all over again. The checkout app didn't work when the mileage was wrong and Manager was needed to correct but after 30 minutes without manager showing up, Associate took picture and said she'd update the contract. Upon returning the truck, neither the photo of the mileage from the app nor the Associate was available to correct the mileage charge so I got ripped off. We had an issue with the mileage. Whoever recorded the image had the last two numbers as 69 when they were actually 96. Thankfully we took a picture before we left the location or we would have had to pay more. Manager didn't seam to care that employee entered wrong mileage. He said it was our responsibility. I have already filled a form out for this rental. It was a terrible experience because of the ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE and the non-working ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE button on the web site not working. Your processes for getting help after hours are flawed. The Charleston office said that they should have been called because they have a company that should have been called who would have taken care of the situation much better and easier than what happened. Wait times and non-working web sites are not good business when the phone 888 number drive people to the web site when they are broken down on the side of the road.BRENT WILLIAM S.
We had safety issue with the truck. In the middle of our trip, the accelerator stuck at a stop light, scaring us to death.The passenger door did not shut properly. The air conditioning system stopped working every time you drove up an incline. The transmission had trouble shifting. We wanted a 15 foot truck and they kept telling me we had to take a bigger truck. We ended up with a 20 foot truck that wasn't properly mechanically maintained and that sucked gas. When we returned the truck five minutes before 7:00 pm the place was already closed. We couldn't find a drop box for the key so we locked it in the truck glove box for safety. They couldn't print me a contract because their printer wasn't working. Do you know how hard it is to read one on a cell phone!! Overall this was a scary, disappointing rental. And they told me I'd get the $29.95 a daily rate for the 15 foot truck I originally asked for and I didn't get that either!Rebecca S.
