My only complaint is corporate rather than location based. I went through the corporate uhaul site to make a booking for a specific sized unit and received a call two days prior to my move in date with news that there wasn’t a unit the size I booked available. I was able to get a larger unit, which is about $70 more expensive per month.
Joan W. | First Impressionswell I told the location the trailer was leaking bad bunch of stuff got wet including a box of books was soaked had a christmas tree holder with about a inch of water in it from the leak s in the long run I was upset with the whole thing I also went on line to extend my rental the app said the trailer to be back bye 730 because it was renter out already so I had to rush to take it back to find out that they did not open till 9 so nobody could pick it up at 8 plus they had other trailers that size there so that also pissed me off

Ash W.I rented a 5X9 ft utility trailer. It was loaded with snow not cleaned out. Also and the worse part of the experience. It was almost impossible to lower tailgate. From looking at it I'm sure it hasn't been properly greased in some time. Well bringing this to the sales rep attention and the store manager sitting close by listening my complaints had no apologies for my experience. I feel I should have been reimbursed for part of the charges just under $40 totally ridiculous. I would also add the closest the tailgate would go to the ground was a good 5 inches therefore you had to step on tailgate to load anything. Melisha B. | Overall ExperienceThe reason for not getting a perfect score today is Peterborough location had an ice storm the previous night and by the time we got the vehicle they didn't scrap the ice off the mirrors and they didn't have an ice scraper with it, just a snow remover, so we were blinded by the left driver side for the entire day as it was too cold for the ice to naturally melt.
Tasha M.The attendants gave me a van with a contract, but when I returned home I had a call on my answering service to tell me I had been given the wrong van and that my fuel level was different than on my contract and as confirmed by your attendants. This person then left a message telling me I would be charged extra for the difference in fuel level. I had to return to your office the next day with my contract to get reimbursement for extra already charged to my credit card. Very uncomfortable and all your mistake.

Matt V.The vehicles should be rented with a full gas tank so that it can be returned with a full tank of gas because at any other level it would be hard to estimated how much gas is needed. One might interprete that U-Haul owner/manager might be trying to scam some extra money or gas from their customers.

I had to rebook and go to a second location to get a trailer And again they did not book what I originally requested. The person on site was very helpful and got me what I needed.
KELLEIGH T.I got delayed unloading my truck due to severe snow and cold and got snowed in as well. When I called roadside assistance they pretended that they are going to send a tow truck to tow me out of the snow. Instead they sent some hooligans to repossess the truck and no tow truck. I needed to remove some tools from the truck and they arrived 1 hour early. They threatened me with the OPP, I wonder for what since I have been paying U-Haul all along. They were hanging on the metal gate of my property like monkeys, I really didn't feel like opening the gate since I felt threatened. As a matter of fact, I loaded my handgun I had in my pocket to be prepared for any physical assault. Instead of towing the truck (they didn't come in a tow truck in the first place) the second person drove the truck to an impound in Peterborough. I am just making it clear, I will not pay for extra miles, extra gas and any repossession and impound fees, all that will got to court since U Haul lied to me. All that and any emotional damages (post traumatic stress syndrome) you inflicted on my will got to court.

brian N.There is a mechanical issue with the truck I rented. I believe it was TT2009E. When braking there is a vibration and shaking of the steering wheel. It could be several things from a warped rotor to a bent control arm, but I would highly suggest it be looked into or gone over by a mechanic.
Kyle C.All the reps I dealt with were friendly and knowledgeable, and made the whole process easy and quick. The only minor issue I had was that the car transporter trailer was covered in sand, a lot of it, so much so that the rep even apologized for the condition. It wouldn't take 5 mins to pressure wash it before the next customer. I understand that it is the winter so just something to maybe improve upon? Thanks.

David M.For after hours drop off, it would be helpful to know where the key is to be left after the vehicle is dropped off. There was no comment from the employee, and it is not clearly marked in the vehicle. Do I leave the key in the ignition, on the floor of the vehicle or outside on the ground somewhere?

BRIAN D L.Hello team, Regarding self storage: 1)Signs posted are misleading. I was under impression that it is 24 hours access but clearly it is not. It is not for 24 hours access and it is from 5 am to 10 pm. I was locked out on one occacion while I was moving my stuff and customer rep over the phone nor store manager was able to help me out. 2) Also I have 2 months worth of credit storage time but store manager wont link it to same locker forcing me to transfer my belongings to another locker in same facility or near by facility which dosenot make sense. Anyways I will check out budget rental next time I need moving assistance. Thanks
Drupad J. | First ImpressionsWhen we arrived at the Peterborough location, the entire east side of the building where the rental trucks were stored was covered in black ice. It was very dangerous to walk and drive on. Our truck was covered in about 6" of ice and snow. This seemed odd considering the snow storm was 2 days before we picked it up. We noticed a young male staff member outside and he applied de-icer to the pavement, but didn't help with the snow removal. It took us about 20 minutes to clear the truck's windshield and hood so it was safe to drive. We couldn't clear or reach the top of the truck of snow because it was a solid hard packed layer of snow and ice. With similar conditions around the vehicle, we felt it was better not try to remove the snow from the roof with a snow brush/scraper/shovel in case we would damage the paint. The other morning office female staff member who we originally meet inside didn't mention that we need to complete the online checklist of the vehicle before with leave. When I did notice the text message after clearing the top the cabin, windshield and hood, we sent an image showing the remaining snow still left on the top of the 10" truck. While driving on the highway, about half of the snow blew off the truck. Luckily, it didn't hit any other vehicles. When I brought the truck to the Ajax location, the staff were shocked that there was so much snow still on the roof. They said that should have been cleared by the Peterborough ahead of time before we arrived. I called the Peterborough location after we returned the truck and was put on hold for about 5 minutes by a new staff member who needed to check with another more experience person. Then I spoke to someone called Chris and he wrote down what happened this morning. He said his manager (Gary) and the assistant manager were away for the weekend and one of them would call me the beginning of next week. Why didn't the Peterborough U-Haul staff remove the snow from our vehicle before we picked it up? I looked up on the Internet this morning and it said "Ontario law requires that the windshields, roofs and hoods of vehicles be completely cleared of ice and snow before going out on the roads"? We want to know why the truck wasn't cleaned off before we arrived. After two weeks, I still haven't received a phone call or email from the manager or assistant in Peterborough. I guess the Peterborough location won't be compensating us for this safety issue?

James H. | Overall ExperienceMy only complaint so far is that I was told in Peterborough it would only be $40 to rent the van for another day. When I was paying for it, I was charged $62.15, which included insurance I wasn’t told about. I decided not to dispute the extra charge but this negatively affected my first impression of UHaul. The person should have been more honest and transparent with the actual price of an extra day. On a good note, I was impressed with the otherwise well informed, helpful and friendly staff. I also loved the idea and convenience of allowing customers to leave unwanted items in the docking area for others who may be interested in them. This is a very caring and earth-conscious idea (saving items from going to landfill that others may enjoy).

It would also be much more beneficial if the big sliding door (inner door) inside would still open after hours when entering. You have to put your passcode in on the second keypad anyway so it seems strange that, that second door can't open then. It was very difficult moving large items through the smaller, normal size door after hours.
Jeremy A. | Overall Experience*****At the time of move-in, no one explained the open ceiling effects to expect nor did they inform me if there are 10x10 unit WITH A CEILING available at all. The entire facility is nice and really clean EXCEPT that my unit doesn't have a solid ceiling, just an all open air with wire mesh. When I opened my 10'x10' unit EVERYTHING I had in there was coveted in thick dust. I pay a lot of money for the unit and I assumed my items were safe from getting SO dirty or damaged. Some of my items already appear unable to be cleaned by all that so much accumulated dust. I may have to move my storage unit. Plus, I get completely dirty going in to find something. Just touching a box makes my hands covered in dust, not to mention my clothing.

This is frustrating and I really don't know how moving the majority of stuff out Aug 7 will work as I may have to move the urgent stuff to another facility .there are too many other things going on to deal with the stress and bs that has been accessing my storage locker. Plus it's super uncomfortable that someone is living in their unit that I need to walk by every time to get to my unit
